Paul Edward Mayo, age 70, of Cleveland, Texas, died Wednesday, October 10, 2007. He was born in Zavalla, Texas on December 19, 1936 to Ruben and Cletta Mayo who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Frank Lowe and Amos Mayo; sister, Mary Stanley; sister-in-law, Ella Mayo.

Paul Mayo was a Brick Mason, well known and respected throughout the community.

Survivors include his loving wife, Betty Jean Mayo; sons, Milson and wife, Vickie, Greg Wilson, and Jeff Wilson; sister, Susie Smith; brothers, Aaron Mayo and wife, Velma, Willie Mayo, Raymond Mayo and wife, Joyce; three grandchildren, Preston Wilson, Terrin Wilson, Sarah Wilson; numerous nieces, nephews, and many other loving and caring family members and cherished friends.

Visitation is being held Friday, October 12, 2007, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 13, 2007, 10:30 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.

Lance Cpl. Burris

Lance Cpl. Jeremy Wade Burris, USMC, 22, of Liberty, was killed on October 8, 2007 near the city of Al Qaim in the Al Anbar province of Iraq.

Funeral services will be held at Cornerstone Church in Liberty on Tuesday, October 16, at 11 A.M. A gathering of family and friends will be on Monday, October 17 from 5-8 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, from 5-8 P.M.

Jeremy was born on December 3, 1984 in Austin, TX, to parents Brent and Karla Burris. He attended Lee College in Baytown, and a community college in Tacoma, Washington, after completing home school. He attended Cornerstone Church in Liberty, prior to moving to Washington.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Meryl Cox and uncle, John Alan Cox.

He is survived by his parents; brothers and sisters, Bryan, Stephen, Nathan, Rebekah, Joel and Bethany as well as his grandparents, D.F. and Billie Burris.

Woolery

Katie Ann Woolery, age 47, of McAlester, Oklahoma, died on Saturday, October 6, 2007. She was born in Comanche, Oklahoma on February, 29, 1960. She is preceded in death by Tina Ann Mize, Granny Eloise Babin and Papa Buck Babin. Survivors include her loving husband, Roger Woolery; mother, Sharon Mercer; daughter, Linda “Sissy” Bratton; sons, Steven Ray Mize and wife, Pam, Travis Lee Mize and wife, Amber; grandchildren, Kyra Mize, Jordon Mize and Hailey Ann Mize; other survivors, Dustin Dixon Mize, Brittney Valderez, Justin Valderez, A.J. Valderez, numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and other loving and caring family members and caring friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 11, 2007, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 12, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.

Callahan

Earline Morgan Callahan, age 55, of Shepherd, Texas, died Wednesday, October 10, 2007. She was born May 21, 1952 to Grady and Jeanne Morgan who precede her in death along with her loving husband, Russell J. Callahan; brothers, Bill William Morgan, Henry “Tiny” Morgan; and her twin brother Earl Morgan.

Survivors include her sons, Anthony Callahan and wife, Suzanne, Scott Callahan; daughter, Tammy Richey and husband, Pug, Tracy Broussard; sisters, Norma Luquette, Gloria Creamer; brothers, Herman Morgan, Raymond Morgan, Willie Morgan; six grandkids, many nieces, nephews and other loving family members and caring friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 11, 2007, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 12, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Farley Chapel cemetery, Shepherd, Texas.

Shipley

Don Connley Shipley died at his home in Liberty, Texas, on Friday, September 07, 2007. He was born on October 20, 1931 to parents, Lloyd Shipley and Mary Skaggs. He attended Dodge City High School in Kansas and University of Kansas and Kansas State University where he studied Architecture. He loved crafts and golf and was a member in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Elks Lodge and Kiwanis.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Barbara Shipley and five children: Sons, Bruce Shipley, Lee Medders, Stacey Medders; daughters, Jamelle Cavous and Shari Lahan as well as a sister, Martha Kennet and her husband Bill. Twelve grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren also survive.

Graveside services will be held at Fairlawn cemetery in Liberty on Monday, September 10, 2007 at 1 P.M. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Sunday, September 9 from 5-8 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX 77575

Moore

Mary Elizabeth Moore, age 65, of Cleveland, Texas, died on Tuesday, September 4, 2007. She was born in Houston, Texas on October 2, 1941 to Leroy and Emma Stiefer who preceded her in death along with her loving husband, Johnny Ray Moore.

She is leaving behind three daughters, Elizabeth Ann Allen, Darla Kay Debardelaben, Julie Belinda Dupuis; one son, Johnny Ray Moore; sisters, Irma Johns, Ann Hough; brothers, Walter, Gerald, Tommy, Bud, and Charles Stiefer; her cherished grandchildren, Tammatha Goolsby, Julianne Miller, Joshua Miller, Travis Dupuis, Austin Dupuis, Emily Dupuis, Darren Storrs, Jacob Debardelaben; great-grandchildren, Bryce Miller, Cameron Goolsby, Cooper Dupuis; nephews, Aubrey, Tony, Omar, Chris, Wayne, Wally, Matt, Jeffrey; nieces, Margaret, Debbie, Irma Sue, Angie, Donna, Sharon, Cora, Trina; daughter-in-law, Christy Moore; son-in-laws, John Dupuis, Roger Debardelaben, Glen Allen and so many other loving and caring family and friends.

Bro. Ron Ellis will conduct funeral services Friday, September 7, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.

Patterson

Catherine E. Patterson, 94, of Cleveland, Texas, died on Wednesday, September 5, 2007. She was born in Gonzales, Texas on March 6, 1913 to George and Marion Swift who preceded her in death along with her loving husband, Earthman Patterson; son, William Ashley Patterson; and her daughter, Martha Raye.

She leaves behind one daughter, Georgia Gibbs; one son, Freddie Patterson; sister, Jefferine Horvath and husband, Frank; twenty-one grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and so many more cherished family members and caring friends.

Family and friends will gather together for visitation Friday, September 7, 2007, 5:00 to 9:00 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Interment at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.

Eastwood

Doreen E. “Dee” Eastwood, 61, of Baytown, died Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at the Methodist Hospital in Houston.

She was born December 13, 1945 in Baytown to her late Parents: Sam H. Eastwood and Neva Neuman Eastwood Cobb, lived in Baytown all of her life and was a Financial Secretary for the San Jacinto Baptist Association in Baytown.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, September 10, 2007 at the Forest Park Lawndale cemetery in Houston with Rev. Brad Hoffmann officiating.

She is survived by: Cousins: Risa Smith and her husband Edwin of Baytown, Pam Perry and her husband Jerry of Louisiana and Russell Roberts of Louisiana; Aunts: Janice Neuman of Baytown and Marjorie Eastwood of Baytown and numerous more relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by: Parents: Sam H. Eastwood and Neva Neuman Eastwood Cobb; Uncles: Harris Eastwood and Felix Neuman and Aunt: Peggy Roberts.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Sunday, September 9, 2007 at the Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Baytown.

In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lake Tomahawk Christian Retreat Center, in the care of San Jacinto Baptist Association, P. O. Box 1533 Baytown, Texas 77522.

Havard

Ethel Doylene Havard, 56, of Dayton, died Saturday, August 25, 2007 at her home.

She was born December 22, 1950 in, Texas to parents: Doyle Havard and Winnie Neva Simmons Havard. Doylene attended Dayton Schools and Lee College. Bytown, Texas and was a member of South Dayton Baptist Church. She was currently employed by Walmart in Liberty.

Graveside services for Ms. Havard were 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Palms Memorial Park cemetery, Dayton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Bobby Banning. She is survived by her husband: John Thibodaux; her sister: Donella Tilton and husband Buddy; her niece: Jody Banning and her great-nephew: Deven Watasa Ohiji.

Chandler

Johnny Ray Chandler, 55, of Liberty, died Monday, September 3, 2007.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2007, from 5pm until 8pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis in Liberty. Funeral Services will be Thursday, September 6, 2007, at 11:00am at Allison Funeral Service.

Johnny was born on December 19, 1951 in Baytown, Texas to parents Morris Gordon Chandler and Vivian Muriel Portier. He attended Crosby High School. He enjoyed motorcycles and racing cars. He recently retired from his own business as an owner/operator in commercial trucking. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Chandler, a daughter, Curtney Stanley, two sons, Jason Calico, and Michael Calico Jr. seven grandchildren, Sonia and Tristin Stanley, Faith, Chelsea, Candace, Michael III and Ashley Calico, two sisters, Dianne Newbury, Belinda Faye Sammons, one brother, Edward Alton Smith and numerous other relatives and friends.

Puckett

Marion LaGene Puckett, 77, of Liberty, died Monday, September 3, 2007, at his home.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2007, 5pm until 8pm, at Allison Funeral Service, Liberty, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, September 6, 2007, at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis in Liberty with Reverend Jack Hagee officiating. Burial will follow in Anahuac cemetery, Anahuac, Texas.

Mr. Puckett was born July 15, 1930 in Livingston, Texas to parents Thomas Marion Puckett and Beaddie Belle Cummings Puckett. He attended Liberty High School, and later joined the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Puckett retired from H.B. Zachry Co. as a safety engineer. He was a firefighter instructor for Texas A & M, and an EMT Instructor. He was the fire chief for the city of Liberty for one year. Mr. Puckett was a member of the American Legion and a member of the Assembly of God Church of Liberty, Texas. He enjoyed his church family, was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing what he cooked with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Colley Puckett, one daughter, Janice Marlene Sanders and her husband Charles, two grandsons, Nicholas and Jeremy Reid, two great-granddaughters, Vanessa and Ava Reid, one sister, Jane King, one sister-in-law, Elaine McMichael and many other relatives and friends.

Williams

Betty Jean Fowler Williams, 65, of Hankamer, Texas, died Thursday, August 30, 2007. She was born on April 20, 1942 to O.E. and Lutishie Fowler in Jasper, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Carl Glenn Williams; three sisters; and one brother. She is survived by her son, Dickie Hensley of Winne; four grandchildren, Betty Hensley, Britney Dulany and husband Shane, D.J. Hensley, and Jermey Bourque; great-grandson Beau Anthony Duraso; two sisters, Claudia Abercrombie and Patricia Robinson and husband Jack; and daughter-in-law, Laura Hensley.

A visitation for friends and family will be Monday, September 3, 2007 from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac with a service of remembrance being conducted at 11:00 AM.
Driver

Everette “Lee” Driver, Jr., 67, of Dayton, died Thursday, August 30, 2007 in Houston after an extended illness. He was born March 2, 1940 to parents Everette Lee Driver, Sr. and Fayetta Shook Driver. He was owner of Lee’s Valves and had lived this area since 1988 after moving from Baytown. He enjoyed his work, television and planes.

He is survived by his daughters: Vicki Martinez and husband Rudy of Dayton; Kim Jasper of Shreveport, Louisiana; sons: Eric Driver of Dallas, Mark Driver of Dallas, and Blaze Driver of Dayton; sisters: Cynthia Driver and Katherine Hopson of League City; brother: Johnny Driver; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Majors

Johnny Mack Majors Sr., 67, of Liberty, Texas, died, Thursday, August 30, 2007.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at 10 A.M. at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 3 from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be following the service at Palms cemetery in Dayton.

He was born on May 23, 1940 in Beaumont, TX. to Johnny Leonard Majors and Ina Jane Powell. He was the owner/operator of an auto parts store, a member of the Church of God. He loved fishing, watching football and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sherry Cleveland and brother, Robert Neal.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Katherine Irene Majors of Liberty, two children: Johnny Majors and wife, Trina of Liberty; grandchildren, Johnny Majors III and Brandalynn Majors and Samantha Arabie and husband Keith of Baytown and grandchildren, James Pennington, Amy Pennington, Hannah Arabie and Emily Arabie. Three sisters; Janice Morgan, Joyce Hughes and Sylvia Lunt and husband Bruce.

Dever

Funeral Services For Melvin Earl Dever, 59, was held Saturday, August 25, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Dayton, with the Reverend Dwight Pruitt, officiating, with burial in Acie cemetery, Dayton, Texas, under the direction of Wells Funeral Service, Liberty, Texas.

A native of Dayton, (Low Woods), Texas, a graduate 1966 of Colbert High School, he attended Lee College in Baytown. Melvin served valiantly in Vietnam in the United States Army. A member of St. Miles Missionary Baptist Church he served as an operator technician with the Bayer Corporation for 24 years. In his leisure he was an avid hunter and served with the 100 Club, The Future Farmers of America and the Four H Club where he worked with children in the Dayton Independent School District.

He died, Sunday, August 19, 2007 at VA Hospital in Houston, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Sharyn Elaine; two children: Rodney Dever and Shelley Allen both of Liberty; two brothers Raft Dever and Tyroon Dever; five sisters: Myrtle Freeman, Van Dever, Beatrice Dever, Erma Bundage and Mary Davis; six grandchildren and a host of other relative and friends.

North

Funeral Service for Lorraine Raymond North, 73, of Liberty, will be held Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Turkey Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Cross, officiating, with burial in Martha Godfrey cemetery, Double Bayou, Texas under the direction of Wells Funeral Service, Liberty.

A native of Hankamer, Texas, she died Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at her residence.

Visitation will be held at the church from 9am until time of service.

She is survived by two daughters: Letitia Winters of Liberty and Zola Artis of Wallisville, Texas; one son: Henry Earl of Anahuac, Texas; three brothers: Willie J. Raymond, Walter Raymond and Douglas Raymond, all of Hankamer, Texas; two sisters: Ellarine Anderson and Sue Foster, both of Anahuac, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.

Belote

Clarence Howard Belote, 90, of Anahuac, died Tuesday evening, August 28, 2007, at St. Joseph Manor, Bryan, Texas.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 1, 2007, from 9:00am until 10:30am at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac, Texas. Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 1, 2007, 11:00am at Our Lady of Light Catholic Church of Anahuac, Texas with Reverend Neil Arse officiating. Burial will follow in the Anahuac cemetery.

Mr. Belote was born on May 10, 1917, in Lufkin, Texas to parents Jess Belote and Emmie McCormick. He attended Lufkin High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. Mr. Belote loved Golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his wife Helen Komisar Belote.

Mr. Belote is survived by one son, Richard “Dick” Belote, one daughter, Patricia Ann “Trish” Belote, one sister, Louise Arnold, Five grandchildren, Derek Pitts, Jessica Pitts, Eric Belote, Jason Belote, and Todd Belote, two granddaughters-in-law, Marilee and Lacy Belote, and one great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Belote.
