Dr. Rick Kelley, 54, died, Saturday, July 21, 2007 at M.D. Anderson, Houston, Texas. He was born in Vidor, Texas on December 12, 1952 to James Monroe and Meriam Kelley.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Pam Kelley; sons, Ian Kelley, Connor Kelley, Christopher Beene; daughters, Parrish Kelley, Rebecca Beene; brothers, Danny Kelley, Jerry Kelley, Jim Kelley and wife, Jeannette; niece and nephews, Rebecca Tobar, Kris Kelley, Wayne Kelley, Jon Kelley, Brian Kelley; and many other loving and caring family members and countless friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 24, 2007, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Memorial services will be at the First United Methodist Church on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 2:00 p.m.

Dunn

Kenneth “Ken” Neal Dunn, 52, of Dayton, died Monday, July 23, 2007. He was born September 10, 1954 in LeMars, Iowa to parents: Kenneth L. and Wanda Rankin Dunn. He had lived the past 10 years in this area, after moving from Pasadena. He was a 1971 graduate of South Houston High School and attended San Jacinto College. Mr. Dunn had worked as a computer programmer. He enjoyed computers, training and breeding horses.

Services for Mr. Dunn will be 4:00 p.m., Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Hatcher officiating.

He was preceded in death by his father and is survived by his daughters: Carolyn Jewell and husband William of Dayton and Mary Kay Seaton and husband Brad of Dayton; his mother: Wanda J. Caldwell of South Houston; sisters: Judy, Anita, Marjorie, and Amanda; five grandchildren; also numerous other relatives and friends.

Maddox

Jodi Griffin Maddox, 30, of Dayton, died Sunday, July 22, 2007 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born January 4, 1977 in Houston, Texas to parents: Rodney and Karol Huvall Griffin. She had been a longtime resident of Dayton where graduated in 1995 from Dayton High School. Jodi attended San Jacinto College and was currently working at Kimmie Brown Elementary School as a substitute teacher. She loved her family and friends, also she enjoyed cooking and taking care of her pets.

A memorial service for Jodi will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 26, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Dayton with Rev. Randy Piatt officiating.

She was preceded in death by her father and grandfathers: Earl Griffin and Clarence W. Huvall. She is survived by her husband of five years: Brett Maddox of Dayton; her precious daughter: Madelyn “Maddi” Maddox of Dayton; her mother: Karol Griffin of Dayton; her brother: Scott Griffin and wife Abbey of Dayton; her mother-in-law and father-in-law: Jerry and Winifred Maddox of Luling; her grandparents: Inez Inzerella and Myra Loyce Griffin.

For those who desire, memorials may be made to the Madelyn Maddox Scholarship Fund at Prosperity Bank, Dayton, Texas.

Boyle

Christine Marie Boyle, 58, of Cleveland, Texas, died Monday, July 16, 2007. She was born in Springfield, Illinois on September 9, 1948. She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Wahlsmith. Survivors include her loving husband, G. Mike Boyle; mother, Illene Wahlsmith; daughters, Julie Hollis, Christina Aguirre, and Kathy Greenhouse; sons, Mike Boyle, Jr., Robert Sheperd, and Daniel Boyle; brother, Tom Wahlsmith; grandchild, Aaron Sheperd; niece, Anna Wahlsmith; special family and friends, Dea Wahlsmith, Patrick Victory, Melissa Boyle, Brandon Hollis, Gabriel Aguirre.

Visitation held Thursday, July 19, 2007, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 20, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Cleveland, Texas.

Wheeler

Jimmie Odessa Wheeler, 88, of Cleveland, Texas, died Sunday, July 22, 2007. She was born in Montgomery, Texas on July 25, 1918 to James M. and Elvie Kelly, who preceded her in death along with her husband, George C. Wheeler; sons, Bobby Kelly and Steve Wheeler; her grandson, Jimmy Roy “Bubba” Kelley, Jr.; two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include her sons Travis Kelley, Jimmy Roy Kelley and wife, Carolyn; grandchildren, Ginger Unger and husband, Norman Unger; Elizabeth Kelly; adopted granddaughter, Diana Teinert and husband Mike; two great-grandchildren, Sean and Cory Unger; niece, Janice Kelly; dearest friend, Skully and her many caring friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 24, 2007, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Rev. Gene Jones will conduct funeral services Wednesday, July 25, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Pallbearers, Norman Unger, Sean Unger, Cory Unger, Collin Smith, Jerry Wilson and Bill Reamer will escort her to her final resting place at Mims cemetery, Conroe, Texas.

Olson

Jimmy Lynn "Skin" Olson, 65, of Old River, died on Sunday July 22, 2007 surrounded by his family at his home in Old River.

He was born on September 6, 1941 in Palacios, Texas to Parents: J. C. Olson and Ellie Stanley Olson. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan, loved fishing and was a wonderful father and grandfather. Even through his health problems, he never lost his magical sense of humor. He will be remembered always by those that knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his Parents and Survived by his Loving Wife: Judy Olson; Son: James Olson; Daughters: Mollie Elizabeth Shearer and Ellie Jurin and her husband Donald Jurin, Jr.; Granddaughter: Morganne Shearer; Brothers: Curtis Olson, and Billie Olson and his wife Loree; Sister: Arlie Mae Hauf and numerous Nieces, Nephews and other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service for Jimmy "Skin" Olson will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2007 at 4:00 P. M. at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Mont Bellvieu with Father Andy Moore officiating. Local arrangements are under the direction of Woodforest Fuenral Home in Houston.

Fregia

Josephine Fregia, 78, of Hull, Texas, died Monday, July 23, 2007 at Liberty-Dayton Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 10:00 A.M., at Allison Funeral Service Chapel, 1101 N. Travis St., Liberty, Texas with Reverend Merrill Cloe and Reverend Larry Luster officiating.

Josephine was born in Savannah, Georgia on April 18, 1929 to Manuel Fernandez and Josephine Martinez. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Port Arthur. She married Marvin Fregia Sr. on May 25, 1946.

She was a homemaker who loved to make mayhaw jelly, baking cakes, and watching her soap operas. She was very generous, and loved giving to others. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Fregia is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Marvin Fregia Sr., one daughter, Debra Fregia Campbell, one son, Leon Fregia, one son-in-law, Ernest Elliott, two brothers, Manuel Fernandez Jr., Floyd Fernandez, and one sister, Rose Mary Sears. She is survived by a son, Marvin Fregia Jr. and wife Beverly, daughter, Mary Jo Hanel and husband Doug, one son-in-law, Roger Campbell, grandchildren; Windy Copeland and husband Mark, Marvin Earl Elliott and wife Patricia, Todd Wayne Fregia and wife Lisa, Colby Dale Fregia, Adam Kenney, Tara Shannon and husband Chad and Erica Kenney, great-grandchildren; Coby Trent Elliott, Keisha Elliott, Sam Elliott, Tyler Copeland, Zack Fregia, Lauren Fregia, Megan Copeland, Savannah Shannon, brothers and sisters, James Fernandez and wife Iva Mae, Mercedes Dutton, Ralph Fernandez

Hornback

Lena Lucille Hornback, 94, of Hull, Texas, died on July 21, 2007 at the Liberty Healthcare Center.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at 4:00 P.M., at Guedry cemetery, with the Reverend Bert Shivers officiating.

Lena was born in Marquez, Texas on August 28, 1912, to Lester William Moon and Stella Elizabeth Winn. She attended Flynn High School.

She was a member of the Daisetta United Methodist Church. She was a lifelong resident of the Hull-Daisetta area. She worked as a sales clerk until her retirement, after that she enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her family especially her grandchildren.

Mrs. Hornback is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Dave Harrison Hornback Sr. and a son Dave Harrison Hornback Jr.. She is survived by a daughter-in-law Jolois Hornback, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Johnston

Josephine “Jo” Luton Johnston, 90, of Dayton, Texas, died Friday, July 20, 2007 in Dayton.

Josephine was born January 12, 1917 in Pine Bluff, AR to the late Mr. and Mrs Walter Luton. Josephine was a 25 year resident of Dayton; moving here from Louisiana where she worked as a customer service representative for Piggly Wiggly for more than 15 years. She was a lover of animals, raising chickens and rescuing dogs, and she enjoyed crocheting.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Guy Johnston, her parents, Walter Lee Luton and Annie Josephine (Knotts) Luton and many siblings.

She is survived by her three sons; Clifford Eugene Johnston and his wife Marianne of Dayton, Frank Allen Johnston and his wife Linda of Evadale, TX and John Ernest Johnston and his friend Dolores of Lake Charles, LA; two sisters, Martha Fontenot and Sarah Kirby, both of W. Monroe, LA; eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 22, 2007 from 5-8 PM at the Sterling Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Monday July 23, 2007 at 10 AM at Sterling Funeral Home, followed by burial at Palms Memorial Park cemetery in Dayton.

Bartell

Linda Carol Bartell, age 57, died in the M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, TX on Friday, July 20, 2007 after a long battle with cancer.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. in the Allison Funeral Service Chapel with the Reverend David A. Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Cooke Memorial cemetery 1910 Lakeland Drive, Liberty, TX. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 23, 2007, at Allison Funeral Service Chapel from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., with a Rosary at 7 P.M.

Linda was born on March 13, 1950 in the Dayton Memorial Hospital, to Riley Woods and Jennie Lee Sadler Woods. She graduated from the Liberty High School in 1968, and attended Lee College and Tarlton State University. She was a legal secretary for Mark Morefield, and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Liberty, TX. Linda enjoyed her children and grandchildren, and she was a craft person.

Linda is preceded in death by her father: Riley Woods, a step father: John Haynie Sr., and aunt Margie Woods Bartholomew.

Survivors are her mother: Jennie Lee Haynie of Liberty, a daughter and son-in-law: Brandi Lee Maughan and husband Garland, of Liberty, TX, a son: Christopher ‘Brad’ Bartell of Liberty, TX. two brothers; John Haynie, Jr., and Charles Haynie, and a sister Jonee Haynie Haines, five grand children: Colby Maughan, Kaitlyn Maughan, Kaycee Maughan, Brandon Maughan, and Arianna Bartell, and a host of other friends and family members.

Smith

James A. “Smitty” Smith, 63, of Highlands, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007. He was born March 1, 1944 to William Bryant and Mary Jane Smith.

James was great with his hands. He worked on cars and built hot rods. He could really build just about anything with wood, but above all, James loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of over 42 years, Mary Ann Smith; brother, Bryant “Dickie”; and sisters, Frances and Pat. He is survived by his three daughters, Kerri Wentworth and husband Keith, Karen Moore and husband Roy, and Kimberly Payne and husband Burt; five grandchildren, James, Brad, Nikole, Brittany, and Hayden; and three great-grandchildren, Camryn, Jordyn, and one on the way.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. Friday, July 20 at Grace Community Church in Dayton. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday July 21 at Grace Community Church with interment to follow in Magnolia Park cemetery.

Arceneaux

Funeral Services for Willie Arceneaux, Jr., 68, of Houston, Texas, will be held at 11:00 A. M. Tuesday July 24, 2007 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Ikeokwu Nduh, MSP, Celebrant with burial in Ames Catholic cemetery, Ames Texas under the direction of Wells Funeral Service, Liberty, Texas.

A native of Liberty, Texas, he was a graduate of the Class of 1957 Liberty Training High School. A veteran of the United States Army, he was an employee of Enterprise Corp. in Baytown as a diesel mechanic. He died July 18, 2007 at Southeast Memorial Hospital in Houston.

Visitation will be held for 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. He is survived by his wife Bea Arceneaux of Houston, two daughters: Crystal Prudence of Austin and Anastacia Patience Hobbs of LaPorte, two brothers: Adam C. Arceneaux and Fredrick Arceneaux both of Raywood, Texas, three sisters: Josephine Bernard of Raywood, Eloise Walker and Vernice White of Liberty and a host of other relatives and friends.

Gothard

Ronnie Eugene Gothard, 52, of Liberty, died Thursday, July 19, 2007 in Liberty at his home after an extended illness.

He was born September 4, 1954 in Houston, Texas to parents, “Gigs” Gerald and Susie Pippin Gothard. He was a long time resident of Humble where he graduated from Humble High School. He was a member of the Day Spring Church where he enjoyed singing gospel and country music. He was owner and operator of Gothard Roofing and Construction which was established by his father in 1948. He continued the family business for over 20 years. Ronnie was a member of the USTRC, TRA, the Double Gully Roping Club and was a Texas Champion Bull Rider of the TRA. Ronnie will be remembered as a most generous and charitable person, always lending a helping hand. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and roping.

Services for Mr. Gothard will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2007 at North Main Baptist Church in Liberty with Rev. V. R. Hylton and Rev. Randy Moore officiating.

Interment will follow at Cooke cemetery in Liberty. The family will receive friends Friday evening, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Mr. Gothard was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Billy Gothard. He is survived by his wife: Sue Norman Gothard of Liberty, his son: Cody Gothard of Dayton; his daughter: Kellie Gothard Graham and husband Rick of Humble, his daughter: Rachel Odell and husband Cody of Sulphur Springs, his son: Phillip Woolls and wife Amy of Sour Lake; his brothers: Ray Gothard and wife Sandy of Bangs and Lester Gothard and wife Sue of Point Blank; his sister: Delores Reynolds and husband Quinn of Dayton; two grandchildren: Addison Gothard and Skyler Woolls; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Hoffman

Burl Eugene Hoffman, 82, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007 in Beaumont. He was born August 10, 1924 in Kennett, Missouri to William Lesley Hoffman and Elsie Emaline (Campbell) Hoffman. A master locksmith he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Burl will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves behind his loving wife of over 59 years, Dorothy Hoffman, his three children Beverly Eppard of Yantis, Ronald Hoffman and his wife Wanda of Deer Park, and Marla Crump and her husband David of Moss Hill; three grandchildren, Kye Gardner and her husband Daniel, Jennifer and Sean Crump; three great-grandchildren Kevin and Gregg Dickerson and Jacob Chandler. Burl was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brother Gaylord Hoffman, and two sisters Opal Odom and Agnes Proctor.

Visitation will be held Friday 5-9 P.M. at the Allison Funeral Service.

Meshell

F.E. “Cowboy” Meshell, 54, of Hardin, died Saturday, July 14, 2007 in Houston, Texas.

Visitation will be Thursday and Friday, July 19th and 20th, at Allison Funeral Service, from 5pm until 9pm. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 21, 2007, at 10:00am at Allison Funeral Service Chapel with Reverend Jerry Hovater officiating. Burial will be at Alazan cemetery in Nacogdoches, Texas Saturday, July 21, 2007, 3:00pm.

Cowboy was born August 12, 1952 in Conroe, Texas to parents Huey F. Meshell and JoAnn Burson Meshell. He graduated from Conroe High School. He was an electrician for Halliburton/AECOM. He worked in Iraq in 2006 and Afghanistan in 2007 as a contract electrician. Cowboy was a member of the Elks Lodge B.A.C.A. in Conroe. He enjoyed Karaoke, dancing and horses. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, and a grandson, Thomas Eugene Bush. He is survived by his mother, JoAnn Meshell, his wife, Carolyn Meshell, two sons, Fred Meshell Jr., John Wayne Meshell, four daughters, Kimberly Ann Marek and husband Toby, Candie Bush and husband Matthew, Crystal Ann Batista and husband Robert, Sharon Marie Gribble, brother, Ernest Ray (Bubba) Meshell, five sisters, Dorothy (Cissy) Hoskins, Marilyn Riffle, Debra Moore, Latricia Germany, Tracy Beige, nine grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.
