Measles

DeLois Ann Measles, 63, of Moss Hill, died at her home on Wednesday, June 27, 2007.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 29, 2007 at 1:00 P.M., at Sterling Funeral Home Chapel, 602 Main Street, Dayton, TX, with the Reverend Harold Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Hardin Chapel cemetery, in Hardin, TX. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00am until 1pm, Friday, June 29, 2007 at Sterling Funeral Home.

DeLois was born in Liberty, Texas on February 27, 1944 to Jessie Fregia Sr. and Edna Nugent Fregia. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxilliary, and a homemaker. She loved music, especially Elvis, dancing, singing and fishing.

DeLois is preceded in death by her parents, a sister: Ermma Mobley, two brothers, Frank Allen Fregia and William Weldon Fregia, half-brother, James Fregia, and son-in-law, Lonnie Joe Rao. She is survived by her husband, Clement C. Measles, two daughters Teresa Measles, Loretta Measles Rao, grandson, Kelby Rao, brother, Aubrey Fregia Sr., half-brother Jessie Fregia Jr. and numerous other relatives and friends.

Young

Opal Lee Young, 85, of Cleveland, Texas, died peacefully at her home Tuesday, June 26, 2007. She was born in Roganville, Texas on January 8, 1922 to William A. and Mattie J. Walker.

Visitation will be at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home on Saturday, June 30, 2007, 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Bro. Carl Lundberg will conduct the funeral service Monday, July 1, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Cleveland, Texas with interment immediately following at Cleveland Memorial Park cemetery.

Opal was a graduate of Lon Morris College; president of the Pilot Club and a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1946. She and her husband, Leonard Young, of whom preceded her in death; owned and operated Young’s Laundry and Cleaners for 50 years (1946 – 1996). She will surely be missed throughout the community.

Survivors include five sons, Clifford Wayne Young and wife, Sandy, Kenneth Young, Edwin Young and wife, Lynn, Gavy Young and wife, Rhea, Daniel Young; seven grandchildren, Adam Young, Margaret Young, Ashe Young, Nathan Young, Laura Young, Evan Young, Barrett Young; one great-grandchild, Brandon Young along with numerous nieces, nephews and many other cherished family members and friends.

West

Lynette West, 56, of Martindale, Texas, died Friday, June 22, 2007. She was born in Houston, Texas on August 26, 1950 to Oliver T. and Iva Mae Hammond, Sr.

Lynette is preceded in death by her father; son, Ronald Folk, Jr.; sisters, Doris, Glenda, and Donna. Survivors include her loving husband, Owen D. West; mother, Iva Mae Harris; daughter, Tonya Folk; son, Joey Halton; sister, Cynthia Berg; brother, Thomas Oliver Hammond, Jr.; grandchildren, Jothan and Hailey; and many nieces, nephews and other cherished family members and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Katherine Interisano-Bailey; grandmother, Lela Whatley; daughter, Abigail Cheyenne Interisano; son, Cameron Scott Interisano; brothers, Jamie Walter Biggar, Russell Clayton Bailey; sisters, Marie Lynn Collins Katelin Aleah Horton; nephew, Devin Glen Collins; nieces, Ashley Donna Biggar, Amber Donna Kathleen Biggar and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and many other loving family members and caring friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2007, 1:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 10:00. Interment will immediately follow at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens, Cleveland, Texas.

Maddox

John Newton Maddox, 67, of Livingston, died Sunday, June 24, 2007 after a brief illness. He was born December 21, 1939 in Call, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Liberty, Texas, and had worked as a roughneck in the oilfield. He is preceded in death by his parents: Arthur O. and Joyce L. Rhame Maddox. He is survived by his friend Estelle Vaughn of Liberty and numerous cousins.

Lawrence

Gerald Key “Jerry” Lawrence, Sr., 84, of Dayton, died at his home Monday, June 25, 2007.

He was born September 26, 1922 in Dayton to parents James V. and Winnefred R. Key Lawrence. He was a lifelong resident of Dayton, was a member of the Dayton High School Class of 1940, and was a veteran of the US Navy where he served during World War II. Before his retirement, Jerry worked for Brown and Root as a Millwright in the Gulf Refinery in Mont Belvieu. He enjoyed computers, woodworking, and vegetable gardening. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dayton where he was a former deacon, the VFW, American Legion, and the Masonic Lodge #825 A.F. & A.M. He had lived in Florida for nine years before moving back to Dayton.

Services for Mr. Lawrence will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 28, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with interment to follow at Linney cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Joseph Benton Lawrence, Herbert Alvin Lawrence, sisters: Eunice Conner, Helena Turner, and Sallie Lawrence; son-in-law: Gary Montgomery. He is survived by his wife of 23 years: Nancy Knight Lawrence of Dayton; his daughter: Scharlot Montgomery of Arlington, Indiana; his sons: Gerald “Sandy” K. Lawrence, Jr. of Kenefick and John Coggins of Kenefick; his brother: James V. Lawrence of Hillister; eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Carter

Stanley Edward “Eddie” Carter, 58, of Dayton died Thursday, June 21, 2007. He was born March 12, 1949 in Dayton to parents Alton T. and Virginia Ripkowski Carter. Eddie was a lifelong resident of Dayton, graduating from Dayton High School in 1968. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church, the United Association of Journeymen, and Pipefitters Local #798. Eddie enjoyed horse racing.

Services for Mr. Carter will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 24, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his brother: Alton Thomas “Tom” Carter, II and wife Nicki of Dayton; and his sister: Betty Alexander and husband Chuck of Dayton; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Graham

Joyce Lynette Graham, 75, of Cleveland, Texas, died Sunday, June 24, 2007. She was born in Onalaska, Texas on May 6, 1932 to Everitt M. and Lottie B. West.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, James Hardie Graham two grandsons, Graham Andrew Pendley and Anthony Ray Graham. Survivor include two daughters, Lynette Pendley and husband, Bill, Deborah Bolenbaucher and husband, Robert; two sons, James Graham, Joel Graham and wife, Deborah; one brother, Harold West of Houston, Texas; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Numerous nieces, nephews and other cherished family members and friends beyond measure.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 25, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and June 26, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at the Christian Life Center, 332 S. College, Cleveland, Texas with interment immediately following at Pin Oak cemetery, Texas.

Burge

Richard Earl Burge, 85, of Dayton, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007 in Liberty after an extended illness.

He was born December 16, 1921 in Cleburne, Texas to parents, William James and Ethel Dell Crockett Burge. He attended high school in Houston, graduating in 1941. Mr. Burge proudly served during World War II in the United States Navy on the USS Tennessee and was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. He worked for the City of Houston for over 25 years as a City Marshall. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking and carving. Mr. Burge was a member of the Church of Christ.

Services for Mr. Burge will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 23, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Rodney Covington officiating. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday at Forest Park Lawndale, Houston, TX. The family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday evening, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.

Mr. Burge was preceded in death by his parents and son, Richard Earl Burge, Jr. and sister. Helen Cheshier. He is survived by his wife: Lavetra Burge of Dayton; son: Derrin Burge and wife Sharon of Sugarland; daughters: Dorendia Hamilton of Friendswood, Ricki Baker and husband Buddy of Friendswood, and Cathie Halbrook and husband Rick of Atascosita; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother: Donald H. Burge of Pearland; sisters: Claudine Wilson of Boise, Idaho and Christine Keene of Denison.

Calhoon

Mary Ann Calhoon, age 78, of Liberty, died in a Winnie Nursing home on Thursday, June 21, 2007.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 2:00 at the Allison Funeral Service 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, Texas 77575 with the Reverends Ron Page and John R. Black officiating, with burial in the Liberty City cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 22, 2007 at Allison Funeral Service from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Mary Ann was born on August 31, 1928, to Horald Villows Watson and Mary Allene Allen Watson, in Nederland, TX. She graduated from the Hull-Daisetta High School in 1945 and married Thomas Franklin Calhoon III, November 26, 1948. They were active in the Methodist church all of their lifes. Mary Ann and Thomas Calhoon instigated and participated in the making and design of the needlepoint kneelers in the First United Methodist Church Sanctuary and Chapel. She was a founder and first President of the Lower Trinity Valley Bird Club.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents. The survivors are her husband: Thomas F. Calhoon, III, of Liberty, TX, a son and daughter-in-law: Frank and Jeannine Calhoon of Arlington, TX, a daughter and son-in-law: Joanna and Ottmar Schimek of Anahuac, a brother and sister-in-law: Horald Virgil and Winnie Watson of Beaumont, TX, a sister: Ellen Pickett of Liberty, TX, six grandchildren: Jennifer and Sean Hutchinson of Arlington, TX, John Thomas Wheeler, of Bryan, TX, Christopher Calhoon, of Arlington, TX, Daniel Wheeler of Anahuac, TX, Meredith Schimek of Anahuac, TX, and Taylor Schimek of Austin, TX. And one great grandson: Sawyer Hutchinson, of Arlington, TX, and a host of other family members and friends.

Thompson

Carter Douglas Thompson, 2, of Humble, TX, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 15, 2007 at 11:00 A.M., at Allison Funeral Service, Liberty, TX with Reverend Ron Davis officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty. TX. from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Carter was born on November 11, 2004 in Beaumont, Texas, to Charles D. Thompson and Jodi Lynn Davis.

He is survived by his parents and sister, Cali Diana Thompson all of Humble; grandparents, Charles and Glenda Thompson of Liberty and Tony and Donna Davis of Mont Belvieu, James “Tinker” and Linda Hewitt of Devers; great-grandparents, Beatrice Davis of Liberty, Clarence Thompson of Vidor and A.E. “Bud” and Marguerite Hewitt of Devers; uncles and aunts, Ty and Lynnette Jarry, Clay Jarry, Curt and Teri Jarry, Tim and Cynthia Barrett, Chris and Leigh Davis. Many other relatives and friends also survive.

Russell

Eva Mildred Russell, 94, of Coldspring, Texas, died Sunday, June 17, 2007. She was born in Evergreen, Texas on September 2, 1912 to George William and Ida Robison of whom preceded her in death along with her husband, Leland Russell, Jr. Survivors included Leland Russell and wife, Julia; grandchildren Mike and Rebecca Russell, Charles and Elaine Russell; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Jesse, Brianna, and Kerry along with many other loving and caring family members and friends.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen cemetery, Evergreen, Texas.

Frisina

Joyce Runyon Frisina (Hoagland), at age 57, a woman of courage that taught everyone she knew what a loving and true friend is. On Father’s Day, June 17, 2007, she died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones and the wonderful staff at the Odyssey House in Conroe, Texas. She met her father, John Thurman Hoagland; her son, Little Dave Runyon; and her sister, Judy Hoagland in heaven. She is survived by her husband, Paul Frisina; her mother, Lettie Hoagland (Vandve); her daughter, Michell Enloe; Christy DiPace, Amanda Beverly, and Tish Runyon; her grandchildren, Trent Enloe, Taylor Enloe, Blake Enloe, Levi Enloe, Jennifer Prater, Josh Prater, Amber Beverly, Dustin Beverly; her brothers, Chuck Hoagland, Ray Hoagland, Donald Hoagland, John Hoagland, Steve Hoagland, Flash Hoagland, and Roy Hoagland; her sisters, Lois Hopkins, Wanda Carpenter, and Nina Yeager. She was employed by W.T. Bell International and she loved them as family. We would like to thank the many people that visited her throughout her courageous battle with cancer. A special thank you goes to the Odyssey House staff, Lisa Jackson, Patricia Britt, and Lori Flannigan for the extra care given.

Bro. Jerry Bontrager will conduct funeral services at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2007, Oak Shade Baptist Church, Cleveland, Texas with interment immediately following at Oak Shade cemetery.

Davis

Austin Dean Davis, 14, of Baytown, died Thursday, June 14, 2007.

Austin was born in Baytown, Texas on January 19, 1993 to parents, Robert W. Davis and April Fenimore Davis. Before recently moving to Baytown, he lived in the Dayton area. He was a 7th grade student at Gentry Jr. High School. Along with sports, he enjoyed playing on the computer and video games.

Austin was preceded in death by his grandfather: Franklin Delano Davis and grandmother: Diana Lynn Fenimore.

Austin is survived by his Father: Robert W. “Hoss” Davis of Dayton, Mother: April Michelle Fenimore Davis of Baytown; Step-dad: Mike Telder of Baytown; Step-mom: Mitzi Johnson of Dayton, Brothers: Bobby W. and Dallas Delano Davis of Baytown; Sisters: Haley Lynn Davis of Baytown and Kayle Ann Davis of Dayton. Grandmother: Pauline Davis of Highlands, Grandfather: Garry Fenimore of Baytown, Great-grandmother: Lois Jewel Fenimore of Missouri, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with burial at Palm’s Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, June 18, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

In lieu of usual floral remembrances, the family request that donations be made to a Memorial Fund for Austin Davis at Wood Forest Bank, account # 1108308899 under Robert Wayne Davis and April Davis.

Johnson

Lois Lee Williams Johnson, 61, of Liberty, died, June 16, 2007 in Houston.

She was born December 24, 1945 in Damon, Texas to parents, Bennett Durkee Williams and Myrtle Schnell. She was a member of the North Main Baptist Church in Liberty. Lois wrote poetry, belonged to the Christian Writing Association of Humble, and enjoyed sharing weekly readings.

She retired after many years as an Administrative Assistant in the oil and gas industry.

Services for Mrs. Johnson will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Dayton. Interment will follow at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 19, 2007, 5:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents and she is survived by husband, Bobby Johnson of Liberty; son: Kenneth Wayne Wilson and wife Patty of Dayton; grandchildren: J.C. Wilson, Wayne Wilson, Robert Wilson all of Dayton; sisters: Carol Williams Lesher of Houston, Helen Williams Autrey and husband John II of Dayton, Karen Williams Short and husband Donnie of Bryan, Linda Walker and husband Wayne of Houston; brother: W.E. “Butch” Williams of Mass.; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of usual floral remembrances the family requests that donations be made to the America Cancer Society in Lois Johnson’s name.

Parrott

Jerry Chauncie Parrott, 75, of Baytown, died June 13, 2007 after a brief illness.

Mr. Parrott was born May 4, 1932 in Lufkin, Texas, to parents; Nimrod and Ella Parrott. He moved to Baytown, in 1976 after living in Sour Lake, Texas, for many years. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Baytown. He also was in the Air Force and worked as a Security Guard for Mobay in Baytown.

Mr. Parrott was preceded in death his parents; and daughters: Helen Jackson and Eva Southall. He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Eva Laird Parrott, daughters: Paula Webb, Ivy L. Parrott, Thelma Clark and Bart Willis, and Peggy Pittman. Sons: Mark T. Parrott and wife Celica, Jerry W. Parrot and wife Gloria, and Harvey E. Parrott. Brothers: Bill and Dickey, 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Special friends:Ron, Cindy Drakos, Bart Southhall, Curtis Fregia, and Dale McDonald.

Graveside Services for Mr. Parrott will be Tuesday, June 19, at 11:00 a.m. at the Houston National cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00a.m. till 5:00 p.m., Monday, June 18 at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Gunter

Colbert Leroy Gunter, age 85, of Cleveland, died Friday, June 15, 2007 at the Cleveland Health Care Center in Cleveland, TX.

A graveside service will be held Monday, June 18 at 2 P.M. at Fairlawn cemetery in Liberty. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, June 17 from 3-6 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis in Liberty, TX.

Leroy was born on September 25, 1921 in Grayburg, TX. to Edward Charles Gunter and Beatrice Melton. He graduated from Anahuac High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Liberty. He was married Clara Sander Gunter prior to her death in 1996. Leroy was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He served the 6th Marine Corp in Guadalcanal, Tarawa and Saipan. He worked as a pumper for the Amoco “B.P.” for many years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Clara and one sister, Doris Pearl Thomson.

The survivors include: a sister, Pauline G. Brown of Cleveland and brother, Charles James Gunter and his wife Theresa of Abbeville, LA. Nieces and nephews as well as numerous other relatives and friends also survive.
