James

Funeral Services for Mary Nell James, 73, of Liberty, Texas, will be held at 11:00 A. M. Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Trinity Valley Baptist Church with the Reverend Marvin Etheridge officiating with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery.

A native of Liberty, Texas, she attended Liberty Training Schools and was a member of Trinity Valley Baptist Church.

She died May 30, 2007 at Liberty Health Care Center after an illness.

Visitation will be held at the church from 9am until time of service.

She is survived four sons: Martin Robertson of Raywood, Lloyd Winters of Ames, Leander Thomas of California, and Wade Steward of Liberty; two daughters: Clara Pickett and Lana Dingler both of Liberty and a host of other relatives and friends

Lowe

Vernon Carl Lowe, 79, of Dayton, died on Monday, May 28, 2007 at his home after an extended illness.

He was born April 1, 1928 in Liberty, Texas to parents Pat. C. and Delia Berry Lowe. He was a life long resident of the area where he was a graduate of Liberty High School. He was owner and operator of Lowe Oil Company in Dayton for over 35 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Mr. Lowe enjoyed hunting and his Great Dane dogs, also reading western novels.

Services for Mr. Lowe will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 31, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with interment to follow at Ryan cemetery in Tarkington Prairie. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Lowe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 49 years, Glenda Graves Lowe, and his son: Kelly Lowe. He is survived by his daughters: Lynn Harding and husband Claude of Dayton, Jerry Martin and husband Dave of Houston, and Kristy Patchett and husband Steve of Houston; seven grandchildren: Lars Harding and wife Dana, Aric Harding and wife Glenna, Chris Martin and wife Stephanie, Ryan Martin and wife Joette, Carrie Neal and husband Calvin, Tracy Brigman and husband Ivan, and Michael Lipsey; great-grandchildren: Ariana, Lydia and Drake Harding, Rylor Harding, Cadee and Wyatt Martin, Kellan Martin, Tristin and Taylor Brigman.

Sellars

Bill D. Sellars, 79, of Dayton, died Saturday, May 26, 2007, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital Alexander Campus in Baytown.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Palms Memorial Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Bill was born January 15, 1928 in Alexandria, LA, to parents; Wesley O. Sellars and Cora E. Turner, a former resident of Baytown, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 30 years. He had attended the Corpus Christi Christian College, veteran of the US Navy with service during World War II, retired welding superintendent for Brown and Root after25 years of employment, and member of the Goose Creek Masonic Lodge #1192 AF & AM. He also enjoyed computers, landscaping, oil painting, writing, travel, and going to the dog races.

Mr. Sellars was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter: Sara Sellars, and brother: Bobby Sellars. He is survived by his wife of 47 years: Ruth Kaelke Sellars of Dayton, daughters: Gayle Cash and husband Willy Lutz of Pasadena, Barbara Clark and husband Gary of FL, and Ruth E. Marburger of Brenham, son: Gary D. Sellars of Humble, grandchildren: Gay Lynn Branham and husband Eldon, Tammy Cash, Paul Clark, and Daniel Sellars, great-grandchildren: Christopher, Ashley, Kelly, and Johnathan, sister-in-law: Faye Sellars of FL, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Mizell

James Sueville Mizell, 82, of Cleveland, Texas, died Thursday, May 24, 2007. He was born in Tarkington, Prairie, Texas on October 29, 1924 to James Madison and Gracie Mizell of whom preceded him in death along with his brother, Alton Mizell; and his nephews, Alton Wayne Mizell.

He is survived by his loving wife, Frances Mizell; son, James Lynn Mizell and wife, Susan; granddaughter, Kaitlynn Mizell; nephews, Ronald “Runt” Lane Mizell, Harvey Russell Mizell and numerous other loving family members and a host of friends beyond measure.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, May 27, 2007, 3:00 p.m. at Boothe cemetery with Mr. Andrew Nelson officiating.

Eure

Billy Ezell Eure, 84, of Liberty, died at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital Baytown, TX on May 23, 2007.

Memorial services will be held at Allison Funeral Service on Monday, May 28, at 2 P.M. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, May 27 at the funeral home from 5-8 P.M.

Billy was born on December 5, 1922 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to parents, Williams E. Eure and Bell Ezell Eure. He worked for Phillip’s Petroleum in Pasadena as a plant operator for many years. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Liberty and a volunteer fireman for Moss Bluff Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and being with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, twenty-two brothers and sisters and son-in-law, Kerry Lazenby.

Billy is survived by his wife, Iris M. Eure; daughters, Sherry McKey and husband Wayne, Margaret Ann Eure, and Pat Lazenby. Three grandchildren, Heath McKey, Heather McKey and Angel Smart also survive.

Kay

Martin Allen Kay, Sr., died at the Cleveland Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at the age of 52.

Martin has been a resident of Cleveland, Texas for more than 25 years, born on September 29, 1954 in Houston, Texas to Jesse Willard and Minnie Blanch Kay.

Martin is survived by his loving wife, Rose Kay; daughters, Christie Thomas and Patience Espinoza; sons, Darrell Kay and Martin Kay, Jr.; brothers, Gary, Buddy, Doyle, and Ronnie; grandchildren, Ciara, Erin, Hunter, Starr, Layton, Travis, Jacob, Austin, Andrew, and Brittany; one great-grandchildren, Amy along with numerous nieces, nephews other cherished family members and a host of loving friends beyond measure.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday, May 28, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Bro. Carl Williamson will conduct funeral services Tuesday, May 29, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at the Pace-Stancil Chapel with interment immediately following at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens.

Guthrie

Richard Andrew "Duke" Guthrie, 59, of Dayton, died on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown after a lengthly illness.

He was born on April 23, 1948 in Liberty, Texas to parents: Richard Volley Guthrie and Audrey Cherry Guthrie. Duke was a lifelong resident of Dayton and was a computer enthusiast

He is survived by his long time friend: Maurice "Pete" Peters; Father: Bob Guthrie; Cousins: Carol Ann Manning, Jerry Cherry, Jan Dillard, Amy Owen, Kenneth and Claudine Lewis, Natalie Ripkowski and numerous other relatives and friends.

Lea

Theresa Lucille Lea, 86, of Crockett, Texas, died, Wednesday, May 23, 2007.

She was born in Chappell Hill, Texas on December 25, 1920 to Albert and Frances Mikolajewski.

She is survived by her sons, D.R. Berger and wife, Sherry, Patrick Berger and wife, Wilma, Johnny Berger and wife, Tammy, James Berger and wife, Renča; daughters, Shirley Brewer, Geraldine Covington, Patricia E. Jones; grandchildren, Michael DeLoach, Donna DeLoach, Tammy Ward, Ricky Berger, Kelly Childs, Kathy Coplen, Kim Springer, Stacey Berger, Patrick Berger, Stephanie Berger, Stacey Berger, Jonathan Berger, Angela Burelson, Amber Berger, Shelby Berger, James Berger, Jr., Melissa Berger, Mark Berger, Danny Berger, Jr., Dewayne Berger, Natalie Berger, Amanda Berger, Dustin Berger, Christine Berger and many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many other cherished family members and friends beyond measure.

Visitation with be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Bro. Mike Childs will conduct funeral services held Friday, May 25, 2007, 1:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with interment immediately following at Rosewood cemetery, Humble, Texas.

Massay

James David Massay, 88, of Coldspring, Texas, died at Memorial Medical Center on Tuesday, May 27, 2007. He was born on September 23, 1918 to Tom and Mae Massay of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Elizabeth Massay; daughter, Michal Worthy; sons, David Massay, Paul Massay; grandchildren, Stephen and Richard; great-grandchildren, Jesse, Gavin, Ethan, Logan; along with so many other cherished family members and caring friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 26, 2007, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Coldspring, Texas. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 27, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Coldspring, Texas.

Joiner

Funeral Services will be held for Willie Ola Joiner, Saturday, May 26, 2007, at St. Miles Baptist Church, Ames, Texas, with the Reverend Michael Booze officiating with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery.

A native of Liberty, Texas, she was a graduate of Liberty High School and a member of St. Paul Baptist Church. She died May 20, 2007 after an illness.

Visitation will be held at the church from 9am until time of service.

She is survived two children: Muhammad Al Joiner and LaToya Shantell James both of Liberty; six brothers: Wilford “Bud” Joiner of Liberty, Texas, Ray Joiner, Billie Ray Jones, Henry Lee Jones and Earl Guidry all of Baytown and Alfred Jones of Springdale, Arkansas; six sisters: Thelma Joiner and Vanessa Joiner of Liberty, Paulene Jones McCoy, Rose Mary Hopkins, and Darlene Pittman, all of Baytown and Janice Guillory of Devers, Texas, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Jenkins

A Mass of Christian Burial for Kenneth Paul Jenkins, Sr. of Raywood, Texas, will be held Saturday May 26, at 2 P.M. at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Ames, Texas with the most Reverend Monsignor Patrick R. Wells as celebrant.

A native of Liberty he was a former student of Liberty High. He died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 after a sudden illness.

Visitation will be held from noon until time of service.

He is survived by his wife Annie Jenkins; four children: Staci Moulton and Malcolm Jenkins of Baytown, Kenneth Jenkins, Jr. of Liberty and Dannielle Fletcher of Ames, Texas; his mother: Doris Jenkins of Liberty, Texas, four brothers: Desmond Jenkins, of Channelview, Craig Jenkins of Baytown, Brian Jenkins of Liberty, and Troy Jenkins of Lake Charles, Louisiana; two sisters: Jennifer Hamilton and Simone Spears both of Liberty, and a host of other family and friends.

Brown

Charles Joseph “Joe” Brown, 73, of Dayton, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at his home in Dayton after an extended illness.

He was born December 2, 1933 in Mississippi to parents Charles R. Baxter and Hertha Eugenie Garcia Brown. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict and he was stationed in Guantanamo Bay. He had lived in area for the past ten years. Before retiring he worked for Morris Roofing in Pasadena and for Harris County. Mr. Brown was a member of the Old River Assembly of God Church, enjoyed gardening, football, and watching John Wayne movies.

Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the Old River Assembly of God Church with Rev. Kerry Sampson officiating.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Delbert Brown. He is survived by his wife of 51 years: Betty Garner Brown of Dayton; daughters: Barbara Dockery and Marion Hogan and husband Glenn of Dayton; sons: Billy Brown and wife Debra of Hockley, Walter Brown and wife Barbie of Dayton, and Charles L. Brown and wife Michaelle of Baytown; 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, also numerous other relatives and friends.

Denny

Robert Mark Denny, 46, of Splendora, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at Kingwood Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.

He was born August 9, 1960 in Pasadena, Texas to parents, Robert F. and Jean Blue Denny. After high school, Mark attended Texas A&M and Lamar University. He was currently employed with Shell Chemical in Deer Park and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cleveland. He was an avid outdoorsman, as he enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting. Mark also served in the United States Army.

Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton with Rev. David L. Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Ryan cemetery in Tarkington Prairie. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Denny was preceded in death by his father: Robert F. Denny and his niece: Adrian L. Brown. He is survived by his wife of three years: Kathy Dupree Denny of Splendora; his mother: Jean Blue Denny of Tarkington Prairie; his daughters: Michelle Overbay of Humble, Miranda Overbay Smart of Dayton, and Melissa Overbay of Kenefick; his sons: Michael Overbay of Plum Grove, and Matthew Overbay of Splendora; his grandchildren: Bret Rose Smart, James A. Matthis, and Brinkley Matthis; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pulley

Mable Pulley, 86, of Liberty, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at the Liberty-Dayton Community Hospital.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 from 5pm until 8pm at Allison Funeral Service, Liberty, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 10:00 A.M., at Calvary Baptist Church, in Moss Bluff, TX, with the Reverend Chuck Bradford officiating. Burial will follow in the Cooke Memorial cemetery, 1910 Lakeland Drive, Liberty, TX.

Mabel was born in Mall, Texas in Nacogdoches County on March 2, 1921 to parents Lafayette Singleton and Lona Grice. She married James Henry “Jim Baby” Pulley on December 12, 1961 in Baytown, Texas. Mable lived in the Liberty-Moss Bluff area for forty-three years. She retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad. Mrs. Pulley was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She spent many countless hours doing volunteer and charity work. Mable was a loving, generous lady who will be missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Pulley was preceded in death by her father, Lafayette Singleton, mother, Lona Honea and step-father, Rev. T.H. Honea, brother, Bill Graham, sisters; Esther Matthews, and Lessie Bryson, and nephews John Bryson and J.R. Matthews. Mrs. Pulley is survived by her husband of forty-six years, James Henry “Jim Baby” Pulley of Liberty, TX, nieces; Ann Burk and Jean Nelson of Nacogdoches, TX, Peggy Mize of Mt. Vernon, TX, Beth Bryson, Dee Stelly and Suzie Ortego of Winnie, TX, nephews, Jack Matthews of Rockwall, TX, Jimmy Graham of Rusk, TX, Harry Bryson, Jr., of Winnie, TX, numerous step-nieces and step-nephews and other relatives and many friends.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Texas Elks Endowment Fund, 1963 FM 1586, Gonzales, Texas 78629.

Chism

Raymond “Ray” Lee Chism, 30, of Dayton, died Saturday, May 19, 2007.

He was born April 30, 1977 in St. Joseph, Missouri to parents, Danny R. and Sharon Meagher Chism. He had lived in this area for the past 24 years where he graduated from Dayton High School in 1997. While at DHS he was a trainer in the athletic department. Ray was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church and was a charter member of the 321 Volunteer Fire Department. He was currently employed at the Waffle House in Baytown, was known for helping others, enjoyed computers, cars, and working in the yard.

Graveside Services for Ray will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Magnolia Park cemetery with Rev. Mike Blackburn officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00, Tuesday evening at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Mr. Chism was preceded in death by his grandfather: Raymond Meagher, uncle: Raymond Meagher, and aunt: Tammy Meagher. He is survived by his mother: Sharon Woosley and husband Don of Dayton; his father: Danny Chism of Missouri; his sister: Dawn Nelson of Dayton and his brother: Charles “Billy” Nelson, Jr. of Dayton; grandmother: Leora Meagher of Missouri; also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Chandler

Albert Chandler, 82, of Cleveland, Texas, died Sunday, April 20, 2007 at Memorial Medical Center in Livingston, Texas.

He was born June 16, 2007 in Boyd Kentucky to George and Anna Chandler of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his daughters, Bonnie Strahan and husband, Herbert, Patricia Moore and husband, Daniel; son, Ricky Chandler; sister, Evelyn Payton; brother, Walter Chandler; five grandchildren, Lori Dill, Tracy Callahan, Bobby Strahan, Michelle Moore, and Tammy Sherman; ten great-grandchildren and so many other cherished family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel, Cleveland, Texas. Rev. Kenneth Shelton will conduct the service with interment immediately following at Cleveland, Memorial Park cemetery.
