Cottrell

Carolyn Fletcher Cottrell, 55, of Dayton, died Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at her residence.

Carolyn was born November 22, 1951 in Bastrop LA, to parents; M. D. and Georgia Phillips Fletcher, a former resident of Baytown, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 14 years. She was a graduate of Bastrop High School, homemaker, and enjoyed collecting, antiques, woodworking, sewing, and spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Cottrell was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers. She is survived by her husband: Tom E. Cottrell of Dayton, daughters: Lisa Cottrell of Cy-Fair and Michelle Wagner and husband Tim of Victoria, three grandchildren: Blake Roland and Timothy and Jacob Wagner, brother: M. D. “Buddy” Fletcher and wife Sheila of Bastrop, LA, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Memorial services for Mrs. Cottrell will be held at a later date.

Driggers

Lewis Eley Driggers, 84, of Moss Hill, TX, died at Memorial Herman Hospital in Beaumont, TX on Saturday, February 10, 2007.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 2 P.M. at the North Main Baptist Church. Jimmie Clemmons will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 13 from 5 PM until 8 PM at the church. Interment will follow at Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin.

Lewis was born in Eufaula, ALA. on February 22, 1922 to parents, Eley Driggers and Leila Lewis Driggers. He worked for Brown and Root for twenty-nine years as a construction superintendent and project manager. He enjoyed his job, ranching, and growing hay. Lewis was a very compassionate, loving father and grandfather. He really enjoyed spending time visiting with his many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wonderful wife, Christine Driggers.

Lewis is survived by daughter, Sheila Rucker and her husband Jerry, and his two sons, Lewis Eley Driggers Jr. of Moss Hill and Curtis Driggers and his wife Catherine of Santa Rosa, CA. Five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive him.

Fregia

Lois Annette Fregia, 42, of Carrollton, TX, died in Raleigh, N.C. on Wednesday, February 7, 2007.

Funeral services will be held Monday February 12, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Allison Funeral Service. Visitation will be Sunday February 11, 2007 from 5 PM until 8 PM at the Allison Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Oakdale cemetery.

Lois was born in Liberty, TX to parents, Aubrey and Lois Fregia. She worked as a Sales Representative for Cyber Imaging Inc. of Raleigh, NC.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Jesse and Edna Fregia and Hub and Johnye Meadows and her nephews Jaron and Daron Roberts.

Lois is survived by her parents Aubrey and Lois Fregia; brothers, Aubrey Jr. and his wife Cyndi, Ricky and his wife Stephanie, Timothy and his wife Joyce, Mark and his girlfriend Jessi and Hub Fregia; sisters, Tracy and her husband James Browning and Karon Fregia; nephews, Justin, Jacob, Jace, Styler, Weston, Wilson, Kendal and Cason Fregia, Austin Browning and Brandon and Corey Cameron; nieces, Misti Robbins, Randi, Megan, Phoenix, Ka’lynn and Steffanee Fregia, Jaylon and Jordon Roberts; great nephew Styll Columbus Fregia and special friend Kylia Morgan.

Downs

Johnny Fay Downs, 74, of Liberty, died at the Liberty/Dayton Hospital in Liberty on Friday, February 9, 2007.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 10 A.M. at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty. Preacher Danny Miller will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, February 12, 2007 from 5 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Fairlawn cemetery in Liberty.

Johnny Fay was born in Liberty, TX to parents Thomas Kemp and Willie Mae Newman Sr. She worked in the food service for many years. She enjoyed going daily to the Liberty Project for the Aging and playing dominoes with her friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Thomas Kemp (T.K.) Newman, Jr.

Johnny is survived by her daughters, Deborah Ann Bishop of Dayton and Theresa Faye Ericson of Huffman and son, James Carl Garrett of Dayton. Two sisters also survive, Doris Mae Griffin and Tommie Jean Hunt both of Liberty.

Amaya

Josefa “Sister Joyce” Munoz Amaya, 81, of Hull, died on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 in Dayton following a tragic automobile accident that also claimed the life of her daughter.

She was born on March 2, 1925 on the Ebanito Ranch which was a part of the famous Kings Ranch in Kingsville, Texas to Parents: Porfirio Munoz and Andrea Ozuna. She was a free spirited caring, loving person and a wonderful Mother and Grandmother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved the Lord and was a woman of faith. Everywhere she went and everyone she met would soon know of her love for the Lord and her giving nature.

She is preceded in death by her Parents: Porfirio and Andrea Munoz; Husband: Francisco Amaya; Daughter: Anita Sylvia Thomas; and Grandsons: Kent Nelson and Keith Sumrall.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 10, 2007 from 3:00 P. M. until 6:00 P. M. at the New Life Assembly of God Church in Batson.

She is survived by her Children: Elida A. Gonzalez and her husband Samuel B. Jr. and Yolanda Joy Sumrall and her husband Jimmy of Cairo, Egypt; Grandchildren: Tab Sumrall and his wife Shelley, Melissa Galicia and her husband David, Kerry Sumrall and his wife Karen, Trisia Gonzalez and her husband James, Todd Sumrall and his wife Melissa, Samuel Gonzalez, III and his wife Erica and Casey Hanchey; Great-Grandchildren: Cortney Sumrall, Logan Sumrall, Brandon Sumrall, Weston Sumrall, Tori Sumrall, Sterlin Sumrall, Maria Galicia, David Galicia, Kaci Hryhorchuk, Trent West, Sara Hanchey, Kara Hanchey, Lucas Northcutt, Maddy Sumrall, Macy Sumrall, Alexis Gonzalez and Ayden Gonzalez; Special Friends: Chris Brown and his wife Misty and Numerous Nieces, Nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 6:00 P. M. at the New Life Assembly of God Church in Batson with the Rev. Bill Campbell officiating. Interment will be held on Monday, February 12, 2007 at Resthaven cemetery in Kingsville.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Tab Sumrall, Kerry Sumrall, Todd Sumrall, Samuel Gonzalez, III, Casey Hanchey, James Northcutt, Samuel B. Gonzalez, Jr. and Jimmy Sumrall.

Edwards

Funeral Service for Irene Edwards, 95, of Raywood, Texas, was held Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at 11 A.M. at St. Miles Missionary Baptist Church in Ames, Texas with the Reverend Dwight Pruitt, officiating with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery.

A native of Mart, Texas, she was a retired cook for the Hull-Daisetta ISD. She died Saturday, February 3, 2007at Triumph North in Houston.

Visitation was held from 10AM until time of service at the church. She is survived by her daughter; Barbie Fruge, of Raywood, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.

Donatto

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Percy Donatto, 85, of Ames, Texas, Saturday, February 10, 2007. 10 A.M. at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Ames, Texas with the Rev. Father Ikeokwu Nduh, M.S. P. celebrant with burial in Ames Catholic cemetery.

A native of Liberty he was a construction worker. Retired Veteran of the United States Army, he died Wednesday, February 07, 2007 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

Visitation will be held from 8 A.M. until time of service at the church.

He is survived by three sons: Ted T. Donatto and Danny J. Donatto both of Liberty and Percy A. Donatto of Raywood; four daughters: Beverly L. Donatto of Los Angeles, CA., Jannette M. Farber of Vallejo, CA., Antoinette Seirls, of Houston and Brenda Hickerson of League City, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.

Broussard

Funeral Service for Michael Broussard, 49, of Houston, Texas, will be held Saturday, February 10, 2007, at 11 A.M. at St. Mary’s Baptist Church in Hankamer, Texas with the Reverend L. Speights officiating with burial in Whittington cemetery.

A native of Hankamer, Texas, he was a laborer. He died Tuesday January 30, 2007 at his residence in Houston.

Visitation will be held from 10AM until time of service at the church.

He is survived by his wife: Betty Broussard of Houston, his mother: Bessie Broussard of Hankamer, five children: David Francis, Harold Francis, Dana Francis, Kendra Francis, Michelle Francis, and Francis Francis all of Houston, Texas; two brothers: Brian Broussard of Hankamer, James C. Broussard of Summerset KY.; two sister: Katrina Broussard of Hankamer and Cheryl Faniel of Baytown, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Smith

Lester Clarence Smith, 84, of Liberty, died Thursday, February 8, 2007 at his home.

A visitation will be held, Friday, February 9, 2007, at Allison Funeral Service from 5pm until 8pm. Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 10, 2007, at 2:00pm at Allison Funeral Service with Dr. Jimmie Clemmons officiating. Burial will follow at Cooke Memorial cemetery.

Mr. Smith was born on February 9, 1922 in Paige, Texas to parents George David Smith and Linnie Martin Smith. Clarence was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Moss Bluff. He was a retired driller in the oilfield industry. He would do anything for anybody. He enjoyed helping out with anything in the community. Mr. Smith had been a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He is a past Master of the Masonic Lodge – Liberty.

He is survived by his sons, Leslie Smith and wife Rhea, Gary Smith and wife Julie, daughter, Cynthia Hylton and husband Ray, grandchildren; Leigh Ann Smith, Murry Smith, Kristen Odom and husband Chad, Brian Smith and wife Farrah, Justin Smith, Benjamin Smith, Amanda Hylton, Erin Wylie and husband Jason, Andrew Hylton, great-grandchildren; Kristopher Smith, Grant Odom, Kaitlyn Smith, Hayley Smith, sister, Lenora Hemme and husband Hugo and many other relatives and friends.

Hoyt

Darlene Markham Hoyt, 81, of Dayton died Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at Liberty-Dayton Hospital. She was born August 11, 1925 in Illinois to parents, Charles L. and Bessie Sullivan Markham. She had lived in this area since 1981 and was previously of California. Mrs. Hoyt worked for many years as a dorm director for Blinn College in Brenham, Texas where she was loved by all of her residents. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, enjoyed her dogs and traveling.

Memorial services for Mrs. Hoyt will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home with Father David Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m., at the Houston National cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: George Hoyt, sons: Lee and Randy Norton. She is survived by her daughters: Therese Ungles and husband Willard of Dayton, and Kimberly Beasley of Dayton; her sons: Mark Beasley of Reno, Nevada, and Jerry A. Beasley of Dayton; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren

Porter

Hazel Porter, 87, of Cleveland, Texas, died Wednesday, February 7, 2007. She was born in Liberty County, Texas on February 19, 1919 to Milford C. and Margaret Ham of whom preceded her in death along with her brothers, Howard Ham, Woodrow Ham, and Charlie Ham; her sisters, Eunice Jackson and Lillie Hackelman.

She is survived by her sisters, Nettie Harmon of Old River Community,

Thelma Reed of Dayton, Texas; sisters-in-law, Clydeen Ham of Old River Community, Erma Adam and husband, Terry of Cypress, Texas; brothers-in-law, Earl Porter and wife, Marion, Earsel Porter of Mount Belvieu, Texas and many other cherished family members and caring friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, February 9, 2007, 11:00 a.m. Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton, Texas with interment at Magnolia cemetery, Dayton, Texas.

Stahl

Shae Donovan Stahl, 14, of Devers, Texas, died Sunday, February 4, 2007.

A visitation will be held Wednesday evening, February 7, 2007, from 5pm until 8pm at the First Baptist Church of Devers. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 8, 2007, 2:00PM at the First Baptist Church of Devers. Reverend Harry McDaniel will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ricebelt cemetery of Devers, Texas.

Shae was born on October 21, 1992, in Baytown, Texas to parents, Daniel R. and Anita Stahl. He had lived in Devers for the last eleven years. He was an eight grade student at Devers ISD. He was a good boy who loved riding motorcycles, sports, and just being a kid. He was a member of the Devers Junior High Basketball and Track teams, Tigers for Christ, First Baptist Church of Devers Youth Group.

Shae is survived by his parents; Daniel R. and Anita Stahl, one brother; Eric Anderson, one sister; Erin Anderson, grandparents; Daniel and Guelda Stahl, Shirley Tatum, Bill and Sharon Phillips and many other relatives and friends.

Leonard

Jerry Wayne Leonard, age 50, of Liberty, TX, died Sunday, February 4, 2007 at his home in Liberty, TX.

Graveside Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2006 at the Fairlawn cemetery Liberty, TX, at 10:30 A. M., with the Reverend Bob Fosburgh officiating. Jerry was born on March 3, 1956 in Liberty, TX to Jerry O’Bairn Leonard, Sr., and Betty Louisa Reese Leonard. Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman and he enjoyed riding his four wheeler in the woods. He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Leonard, grandparents: H. C. and Dorothy Leonard. Survivors are his father: Jerry O. Leonard, Sr. a son: Jacob Wayne Leonard, three brothers: James Kevin, Bairn Dewayne, and Franklin Blake Leonard.

Seymour

Rosa L. “Rose” Broussard Seymour, 76, of Crosby, died Thursday, February 1, 2007, at the Triumph Hospital in Channelview.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 5, 2007, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with burial following at Oakdale cemetery in Daisetta. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Rose was born July 31, 1930 in Baytown, to parents; Sim and Bernice Ballinger Broussard. She was a former resident of Houston and has resided in the Crosby area for the past 30 years. She was a homemaker, NA and AA sponsor, enjoyed needlework, her pets, watching national geographic and movies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son: Bruce G. Parrish; daughter: Michelle Parrish Garner and brother: N.A. “Newt” Broussard. She is survived by her husband: Marvin Seymour of Crosby; her daughter: Kathy McRae and husband Harley of Florida; her son; Kelton Parrish and wife Kathy of Minnesota; her brother: M.E. “Gene” Broussard and wife Beulah of Big Thicket; nieces: Cindy, Jeannie, Renee, and Theresa; nephew: Larry; grandchildren: Natashia, Melanie, Meagan, Trey, and Nicolaus; great-grandchildren: Kristina, Graeme, Mikayla Rose, Katelyn, and Katia.

Burditt

Becky Burditt, 63, of Dayton, died Thursday, February 1, 2007 in Liberty, Texas at Liberty-Dayton Community Hospital.

Memorial Services for Mrs. Burditt will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 5, 2007 at Kenefick Southern Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Wallace officiating.

Mrs. Burditt had been a resident of this area for the past four years, previously of Houston. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and her animals. She especially loved her family and her grandchildren.

Mrs. Burditt was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 40 years: John “J.C.” Burditt of Dayton; her sons: Robert Thompson of Houston, John Burditt of Kenefick, Jack Burditt of Houston, Louie Gordy and wife Cathy of Houston, Jay K. Burditt and wife Kim of Barbers Hill; her daughters: Tanya Dee Sones and husband Mark of Houston and Peggy Broussard and husband Allen of New Caney; grandchildren: Chelsea, Jennifer, Travis, Darynne, Jonathan, Jason, Adam, Hailey, Jay, Bryce, Mellissa, Brandon, Aaron, Jacob; one great-grandchild: Kade; her brother: Tony Jones and wife Pamela of Corona, California; niece: Lori Greene; nephew: Jason Jones and special friend: Linda Jones of Gilbert, Arizona.

Robinson

Funeral Service for Jo Ann Robinson, 48, of Dayton, Texas, will be held, Saturday, February 3, 2007 at Turkey Creek Baptist Church, Liberty with The Reverend Paul Cross, Sr. officiating with burial in Wells Memorial.

A native of Liberty, she was a graduate of Prairie View A. & M. University at Liberty. She was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church. Ms. Robinson died, Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston after an illness.

Visitation will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. until time of service at the church.

She is survived by her parents: Harvey and Betty Johnson of Dayton, Texas; two sons: Reginald Robinson and Robert Earl Robbins, both of Dayton, Texas; four daughters: Charmika Robinson and Sharanda Robinson, both of Dayton, Texas, Sasha Robbins and Danielle Robins, both of Baytown, Texas; four brothers: Charles Robinson of Liberty, Earnest Robinson and Ray Robinson, both of Dayton, Texas, Allen Robinson of Baytown, Texas; three sisters: Doris Cormier and Betty Jo Lloyd, both of Dayton, and Gwendolyn McQueen of Baytown, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.
