Semien

Memorial Service for Audrey Semien, 81, of Dayton, Texas, will be held Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 10 A.M. at Berean Tabernacle Baptist Church in Liberty, Texas with The Reverend Hurley Clayton officiating..

A native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, she was an airline stewardess with United Airlines.

She died Friday, January 26, 2007 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown after an illness.

She is survived by her husband, Benjamin Semien, Sr. of Dayton, Texas; one son: Benjamin Semien, Jr. of California; two daughters: Diann Jennison, of California and Madalyn Rosario of Dayton, Texas; one brother: Herman Deville of California and a host of other relatives and friends.

Nolan

Judy Marie Nolan, 59, of Houston, died Monday, January 29, 2007.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 2, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Liberty, Texas. Reverend David Edwards and Deacon Luther Wells will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, February 1, from 5 PM until 8 PM at Allison Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Liberty Catholic cemetery in Liberty.

Judy was born in Dayton, TX to parents, Thomas and Tressie Orand. She was a graduate of Liberty High School and later received a nursing degree from Lee College. She enjoyed playing cards, her pets, collecting angels, and traveling with her sisters.

She was preceded in death by her father, and her husband, Michael D. Harrison.

Judy is survived by her husband, William A. Nolan, daughter; Stacey Ann Pontius and husband James, son; James Michael Nolan, mother; Tressie Orand, sisters; Suzanne Wiggins and husband Craig, Pam Sellers and husband Jack, Tommie Greak and husband Louis, five nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

O’Quinn

Helen O’Quinn of Daisetta, died at the Magnolia Place Nursing Home in Liberty, TX on Monday, January 29, 2007.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 1 at 10 A.M. at the Guedry cemetery in Batson. Rev. Herman Moor will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 31 from 5 PM until 8 PM at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty.

Helen was born in Fuqua, TX to parents Lee and Effie Brown. She was a member of the Baptist Church and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert C. O’Quinn; sons, Ray O’Quinn and Charles O’Quinn; five brothers; three sisters, daughter-in-law, Jean O’Quinn and granddaughter Alison O’Quinn.

Helen is survived by her two sons, Doyle Gene O’Quinn and his wife Ivy of Lumberton, Herbert C. O’Quinn Jr. and wife Clareen of Kemah and one daughter, Barbara Ann Cato and her husband Edd of West Monroe, LA. Nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren also survive.

Chapman

Leslie Arundell Chapman, Jr., longtime resident of Liberty, and Blanco, Texas, died on Saturday of an accident while working on his ranch. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Heatley Chapman, his son Les Chapman, his son Chase Chapman and wife Dee, his mother Doris Haynie Chapman of Liberty, Meredith Lucero and her husband Terry. He was much loved by his family, including his sisters Charlotte Chapman Cope and Gina Chapman Bouchard of Houston, Michelle Bouchard of New York, Bob Bouchard of Los Angeles, Lloyd Cope of Richmond, Va., and his grandchildren, Taylor Chapman and Leslie Chapman IV of Abilene and Jacob Lucero of Austin.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2007 at the First Methodist Church, 539 Main Street, Liberty, Texas. Internment will occur at the Cook cemetery immediately following the service.

Les (Chubby) led a full life as a successful business entrepreneur, avid pilot and rancher. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather with many creative interests including welding artistry, fly fishing, world travel, cooking with hot peppers and playing guitar. He lit up the room in a party and all who knew him will remember his wild stories and crazy antics. His loyalty and commitment to friends and family knew no boundaries. Les will be missed by all who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to The Leslie A Chapman, Jr Education Trust Fund, 1107 Highway 1431, # 207, Marble Falls, TX 78654.

Ayers

Harry Franklin Ayers, 74, of Dayton, died Friday, January 26, 2007 at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

He was born on November 1, 1932 in Waldron, Arkansas to parents: James F. Ayers and Jessie McCartney. He was an owner operator of the Ayers Transportation Company from 1991 to his retirement in 1997. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed fishing. He was a diary farmer in Arkansas where he operated a dairy farm for over 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his Parents; Son: Robert James Ayers; Grandsons: Mickey Stephenson and Jaison Ayers; Father-in-law: Wiley M. Trousdale and Brother-in-law: Dale Trousdale.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 29, 2007 from 6:00 P. M. until 9:00 P. M. at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

He is survived by his Wife: Ellen Ayers of Dayton; Children: Gail Stephenson and her husband Dan of Hutchins, KS., Harry F. Ayers and his wife B. J. of Wichita, KS., Wiley Trousdale and his wife Darbye of Dayton and Hope Tillman and her husband Dwayne of Dayton; Sisters: Loverda Hale and her husband Jay of Alabama and Virginia Collins and her husband Robert of Ft. Townson, OK.; Brothers: Bill Ayers and his wife Velma of Portland, OR. and Fred Ayers of Arkansas; Grandchildren: Christopher Stephenson, Aaron Stephenson, A. J. Stephenson, Matthew Stephenson, Patricia Ayers, Kaleb Ayers, Carla Ayers, Payge Berry, C. W. Tillman and Rilea Trousdale; Mother-in-law: Pauline Trousdale and Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral service for Harry Ayers will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at 10 A. M. at the First Baptist Church in Dayton with the Rev. Chris Trousdale officiating. The family will have a private committal service at a later date.

Strange

Glorita “Rita” T. Strange, 50, of Anahuac, died Saturday, January 27, 2007 at her home in Anahuac.

She was born on September 13, 1956 in Liberty, TX. to Parents: William Tanton and Helen Thibodeaux Tanton. Rita was a very caring person and liked to take care of others. She was a wonderful Mother and Maw Maw to her children and grandchildren and loved her dogs. She had a special place in her heart for her dog Fritz. She loved to cook and had a thriving green thumb to her many plants at her home.

She is preceded in death by her Parents; Sister: Sheila Harmon and Brother: Charles Tanton.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 29, 2007 from 5:00 P. M. until 9:00 P. M. at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.

She is survived by her Husband: Larry Strange of Anahuac; Children: Dana Strange of Baytown, Jason Strange and Donna Strange both of Anahuac; Brother: Jimmy Tanton and his wife Wanda of Liberty; Sisters: Sylvia Hardy of Anahuac, Glenda Lingo and her husband Don of Anahuac and Hilda LeFevre and her husband Tim of Baytown; Grandchildren: Cody Hancock, Heather Hancock, Kassi Tarver, Donaven Tarver, Jasmine Strange and Breanna Strange and Numerous Nieces, Nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Rita Strange will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at 2:00 P. M. at Sterling Funeral Home Chapel in Anahuac with the Rec. Lynn Shoemaker officiating. Burial will follow at the Anahuac cemetery in Anahuac. Serving as pallbearers will be: Keith Sandlin, Bo Harmon, John “Trick” Tarver, Jeremy Harmon, Denny Roiter and Cody Hancock.

Gilmore

A Mass of Christian Burial for Julia Ann Gilmore 94, of Liberty, was held Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 10:00 A. M. at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Ames Texas with burial in Ames Catholic cemetery under the direction of Wells Funeral Service, Liberty, Texas.

A native of Liberty, she was a graduate of Liberty Training School. She was a member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. She was a nurse. Her daughter survives Mrs. Gilmore: Marjorie Conrad and son-in-law Simon Conrad of Houston, Texas, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Stein

A Mass of Christian Burial for Clora Ann Stelly-Stein 50, of Raywood will be held Tuesday 10:00 A.M. at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Ames, with the Reverend Father Ikeokwu Nduh officiating, burial in Ames Catholic cemetery under the direction of Wells Funeral Service, Liberty, Texas.

A native of Liberty, she was a graduate Hull-Daisetta High School and the University of Houston.

She was employed with Shell Oil as a computer programmer for over twenty years.

Visitation will be held at the church, Tuesday 9:00 A. M. until time of service.

She is survived by one sister: Clara Semien of Raywood, Texas; three brothers: Peter Stelly, James Stelly, and John Stelly all of Raywood; three aunts Eula Trahan and Mary Sterling of Ames, Texas. Eva Sterling of Raywood, Texas, and a close friend: Preston Mallet of Baytown and a host of other relatives and friends.

Fenoglio

A memorial service for Dawn Denise Fenoglio, 40, of Dayton will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at 4:00 P.M. at Wells Memorial Chapel, 300 Alabama, Liberty, Texas with Dr. Henry L. Dugat, Sr. officiating.

A native of Houston she was a domestic worker.

She died January 25, 2007 at San Jacinto Hospital in Baytown after a illness.

She is survived by her parents: Sidney and Louise Germany of Dayton, and her mother Betty Germany of Slidell, Louisiana, one daughter: Madalyn Bouilion of Dayton, one son Steven Brown of Dayton; one granddaughter: Shaelynn Herrington of Dayton; two brothers: Bobby Germany of Houston and Rusty Germany of Dayton, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mallett

A Mass of Christian Burial for Alice Mallett, 97, of Ames, will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Ames, Texas, with the Reverend Father Ikeokwu Nduh officiating with burial in Ames Catholic cemetery.

A native of Houston, she lived most of her life in Ames. She was a member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church.

She died January 24, 2007 at Liberty-Dayton Community Hospital after an illness.

Visitation will be held at the church, Wednesday, at 9:00 A.M. until time of service.

Mrs. Mallett is survived by five daughters: Velma Richard of Port Arthur, Texas, Barbara Calhoun of Houston, Texas, Laura Mitchell, Lucy Mayes and Jacqueline Delahoussaye, all of Ames; three sons: Rudolph Mallett of Ames, Melvin Mallett of Tyler, Texas, and Harold Mallett of Fremont, California; 54 grandchildren, 145 great grandchildren 66 great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Davis

Funeral Services for Happy Davis, 92, of Liberty, Texas, will be held, Thursday, February 1, 2007 in Wells Memorial Chapel, 300 Alabama, Liberty, Texas with the Reverend Edwin Hardy officiating with burial in Wells Memorial cemetery under the direction of Wells Funeral Service, Liberty, Texas.

A native of Liberty he was a laborer, he died Thursday, January 25, 2007 at his residence in Liberty.

Visitation will be held Thursday at 11:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home. Happy is survived by his wife Linda Davis of Baytown, Texas; two brothers Velee Davis of Liberty, Texas and Homer Lee Davis of Houston, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.

Wakefield

Emmett Wakefield, 68, of Macedonia, died at the Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Cleveland, TX on Friday, January 26, 2007.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 28, 2007 at 4 P.M. at the Allison Funeral Service. Rev. Carol Hood will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 PM until 4 PM at the funeral home.

Emmett was born on the Sterling Ranch in Dayton, TX to parents, Amie Lee and Mary Elizabeth Wakefield. He worked as a plumber for many years. He was active in his church, Faith Chapel in Dayton. He enjoyed trail riding and working with animals. Emmett was a very loving and caring person who had a very special bond with his younger brother, Wallace. When they were younger he always wanted to take his brother everywhere he went.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Charles Wakefield.

Emmett is survived by wife, Alice Marie Wakefield of Macedonia; sons, Richard Wakefield and wife Chris, John Wakefield, Patrick Morvant; daughters, Penny McCan and husband James, Linda Caruthers and husband John, Amy Strother and husband Michael, Deanna Miller and husband Alan; sister, Lola Mae Morse; brother, Wallace Wakefield and his wife Donna; sister-in-law, Carolyn Wakefield and mother-in-law, Dessie Wilson. Twelve grandchildren: Justin, Bobby, Robert, Jake, Elijah, Sarah, Natasha, Chelsea, Charlie, Chris, Josh, Shelby and Seven great-grandchildren also survive.

Davis

Carl Davis, Jr., 82, died January 22, 2007 at a nursing home in Beaumont, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 26 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.

Carl Davis, Jr. was born March 13, 1924 in Liberty, Texas to Carl Davis and Annie Smart Davis. He graduated from Liberty High School where he had made many friends and met his future bride.

Carl married Betty June Morris August 8, 1945, and enjoyed 56 years of marriage until Betty’s death in September of 2002.

During WWII he was a member of the Army Air Corps in Europe, returning to Liberty to establish his family and work as an engineer in the area’s petroleum industry. Carl also ministered in a number of cities, including Liberty, where he pastored prior to his retirement.

Carl is preceded in death by wife Betty and daughter Diana. He is survived by son Al Nathan Davis and daughter-in-law Debbi Davis of Plano; brother Harvard Davis and sister-in-law Annie Jo; grandchildren Andrea West and Avery Davis; great-grandchildren Ciara, C.J. and Jaxon West; nephews Howard Davis and Bobby Joe Davis, and many other family members and friends who will miss him greatly.

Schroeder

Martha Jeanne McMillen Schroeder, 77, died on January 21, 2007.

She was born the 2nd of 10 children on Dec. 22, 1929 in Liberty, Texas to Blanche and Dewey McMillen.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Ernest Sr., by six children, Michael Schroeder & wife, Jody; Martha Elaine & husband, Rick Morrison; Dolise & husband, Mike McClure, Ernie Schroeder, Jr. & wife, Kerry; Carl Schroeder & wife, Debbie; and Joan & husband, Jesse Patterson, III. Martha is also survived by 13 grandchildren and one great-grandson. She leaves behind nine brothers and sisters, their families, numerous cherished relatives and a world of adoring friends.

Martha retired from the Houston Post Office accounting department after 27 years of service. A graduate of University of Houston, she was active in numerous organizations including her church, the VFW, the Houston Space City Lion's Club and the 96th Navy CB's World War II Veterans.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 24, from 4-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Carter's Funeral Home.

A funeral mass will be held Thursday, Jan. 25, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 8150 Park Place Blvd. Houston and she will be laid to rest in Liberty Catholic cemetery in Liberty, Texas at 2:00 p.m.

You may honor Martha's memory by donating to The Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital or M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
