Blum

Joseph Lane Blum, 55 of Dayton, died Sunday, February 12, 2006 at home after an extended illness.

He was born September 28, 1950 in Baytown, to parents Douglas and Roberta Tompkins Blum. He has lived in the Dayton area for the past two years and was previously of Highlands. He was an instrument tech. in the construction business. He enjoyed racing cars with his son Jay, also hunting and fishing.

Mr. Blum is survived by his parents: Douglas and Roberta Blum of Livingston; son: Jay Blum and wife Kris of Baytown; Daughter: Chelsea Walls and husband David of Dayton; Brothers: Chuck Blum and wife Kim of Baytown, Tim Blum of Livingston, and Lynn Blum of Livingston; three nieces: Stephanie, Crystal and Ruby; one nephew: Robert Thomas Blum; one grandchild: Dylan.

A Memorial service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006 at 2:00 p.m., at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton.

Pottorff

Donald Robert Pottorff, 50, of Dayton died Thursday, February 9, 2006 in Baytown after a brief illness. He was born in Raleigh, New York, July 19, 1955. He attended high school in New York and had lived in this area for the past 25 years. He enjoyed working on computers and loved to cook. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Parker and his sister, Scarlet Smith.

Mr. Pottorff is survived by his wife: Christine Fisher Pottorff of Dayton; step-father: William Alt of Dayton and brother Robert George Pottorff of Dayton. A memorial service will be held at a later time. Arrangements are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

Hall

Sybil Mae Hall died February 9, 2006 with her family by her side, to join her beloved husband, Jessie Doyle and her loving son, Charles Daniel.

Visitation will be on Sunday, February 12 from 5 to 8 P.M. at Allison Funeral Service; a wake will be held at 7:00 P.m. A rite of Christian Burial will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 411 Milam Street in Liberty at 11 a.m. on February 13, 2006 Burial will follow in the Liberty Catholic cemetery where she will be laid to rest between her husband and first born son.

Born August 1, 1925 in Rayne, Louisiana to Charles Molbert, Jr. and Dora Molbert Lanclos, who preceded her in death as did her sister, Orelia Sonnier. She lived her childhood life in Rayne, Louisiana and moved to Beaumont, TX in 1948 where she met and married her husband of 55 years.

During the early years of their marriage, they lived in several towns throughout Southeast Texas, including Beaumont and Houston and settled in Liberty, TX in 1956. While raising five children, she also worked as a retail clerk and she retired to spend more time with her husband and grandchildren in 1991. Ms. Hall was a long time member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She enjoyed crafts and had a love for horticulture. Her greatest joy during her retirement was spending quality time with her close friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her nurturing and loving qualities will be forever remembered by her children and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memories are sons, Harland Hall, Kenneth Hall and Ray Hall, daughter Denise Hall, daughters in law Pam Hall, Rebecca Hall and Lori Hall, brother Russell Lanclos, sister Jean Lanclos, brothers-in-law Dearl Hall and Allen Hall Jr., sister-in-law Audry Hall and Donna Lanclos, and ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren, along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Reneau

Alma Lois Dennis Reneau, 83, of Highlands, formerly of Dayton, died Wednesday, February 8, 2006 in Baytown. The family will receive visitors from 5pm-9pm on Friday at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Saturday at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Rev. Darrell Brown will officiate. Committal services and interment will follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson.

Alma was born October 7, 1922 in Liberty, Texas to John and Mary Jane Dennis. She grew up in Liberty and attended Liberty schools. She and her late husband, Lonnie Reneau, were long-time residents of Dayton and were active in the community there. During her professional career, she worked as a respiratory therapist at the Yettie Kersting Hospital in Liberty until her retirement. Alma was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God and was active with the Moss Bluff Volunteer Fire Department. Alma loved to Cook and was well known for her peach cobbler.

Alma was preceded in death by her husband Lonnie J. Reneau; brother, Alvin “Sonny Dennis; sister, Dorothy Finklea and son-in-law Ronald Callaway. She is survived by her son, Jack Ballinger and wife Sandra of Dayton; daughters, Lois Jean Stockwell and husband Kenneth of Highlands and Patsy Callaway of Austin; grandchildren, Darrell Stockwell of Dayton, Debra Bassett of Wasilla, AK, David Stockwell of Highlands, Wade Ballinger of Dayton, Justin Ballinger of Dayton and Ross Callaway of Austin. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and her long-time companion Preston Carrell of Baytown.

The family would appreciate either floral tributes or memorials may be sent to Moblie Loaves and Fishes in Austin, www.mlfnow.org, or to the Highalnds Pilot Club, P.O. Box 7, Highlands, TX 77562.

Pickard

Nadine Ehl Pickard, age 94 of Liberty, TX, died Wednesday, February 8, 2006 in a Beaumont hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2006 at the Liberty Church of Christ 3201 North Main Street, Liberty, TX, with the Minister, Mr. Danny D. Miller officiating, with burial in the Fairlawn cemetery, Liberty, TX. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, 2006 at Allison Funeral Service, from 5:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M.

A native of Marthaville, LA, she was born on October 30, 1911 to James Parks and Ocie Ola McFerren Parks. She was a member of the Church Of Christ. Nadine was a family person, enjoyed working in the flowerbeds, and to crochet, and the daily walks.

She was a very health conscious person and eating the right food was the only thing to do.

Nadine is preceded in death by her parents, and husband: Columbus Boyd Ehl.

Survivors are her children: James William Ehl and wife, Betty, of AZ., Bob Allen Ehl and wife Judy, of San Antonio, TX, Barbara Jean Gardner, of Houston, TX, two sisters: Lillie Mae Gates of Bossier City, LA, and Annie Lee Morton of Sacramento, CA., 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Lumpkins

Delwin Ernest Lumpkins, of Liberty, Texas, died on February 8, 2006, after a brave battle with cancer.

Delwin was a retired Superintendent for the Samson Companies. He was born January 15, 1934, to Irwin Roy and Della May Lumpkins, who both preceded him in death. He was united in marriage on May 3, 1951, with Ramona E. Gates, and they had six children who all survive him: Leanna Davis and husband, Ed, of Nacogdoches, Texas; Delwin Eugene Lumpkins and wife, Jill, of Hutchinson, Kansas; Ronald Lumpkins of Russell, Kansas; Dwight Lumpkins and wife, Nancy, of Liberty, Texas; Loren Lumpkins of Liberty, Texas, and Lonnie Lumpkins and wife, Mandy, of Kilgore, Texas. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Earl Lumpkins and wife, Juanita of Palco, Kansas; Keith Lumpkins and wife, Grace of Chase, Kansas; also two sisters, Virginia King and husband, Daryl of Parker, Colorado; and Lorna Kay Lumpkins of Hays, Kansas.

He was also preceded in death by sister, Royalyn Nelson, grandson, Michael Shane Lumpkins, and granddaughter, Lauren Rose Lumpkins. He is survived by 19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Liberty, Texas, on Thursday, February 16, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 18, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ cemetery in Holyrood, Kansas. For those wishing to honor Delwin’s memory, in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P. O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas, 77210-4486. Services are under the arrangement of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

Casses

Joseph Patrick Casses, Sr., 66, of Deer Park, died Monday, February 6, 2006 at the Bayshore Medical Center in Pasadena.

He was born August 18, 1939 in Beaumont to his late Parents: James Casses, Sr. and Sylvia Casses. He lived most of his life in the Beaumont area, was a fitter welder in the construction industry and was a member of the Pentecostal faith.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2006 at the Sterling Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with Rev. Christopher Calk officiating. Interment will follow at the Palms Memorial Park in Dayton.

He is survived by: Children: Joseph P. Casses, Jr. and his wife Diana of Port Arthur, Debra Ann Burton and her husband Wade of Dayton, Douglas Wayne Casses and his wife Rose of Deer Park and Margaret Kathleen Kyler and her husband Elmo of Nederland; Sisters: Katherine Haynes of China, Maxine Edwards of China, Mary Lathrop of Silsbee and Sylvia Ann Robins of Vidor; Brothers: Edward Casses of Houston, Leon Casses of Fred, Mike Casses of Beaumont and James Casses, Jr. of San Antonio; Grandchildren: Monique LeJune, Calvin Burton, Brad Casses, Theresa Blackwell, Misty Calk, Mandy Neely and Melissa Deranieri; eleven Great-Grandchildren and numerous Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by: Parents: James Casses, Sr. and Sylvia Casses.

Pallbearers will be: Jody Blackwell, Brad Casses, Calvin Burton, Micah Deranieri, Benjamin Neely and Glen Brown. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2006 at the Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

LaBuff

L. V. LaBuff, 75, of Dayton, died Sunday, February 5, 2006, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10 Am, Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 Pm to 9 Pm, Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

L.V. was born January 13, 1931 in Simmons Bottom to parents; Frank and Lena Mae Dunn LaBuff, and has resided in the Dayton area throughout his life. He was a retired heavy equipment operator, member of the Trinity Baptist Church, member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, and enjoyed buying and training horses, and ranching.

Mr. LaBuff was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Elsie Lou Sims, Emma Lou Trout, and Katy Buckner, and brothers: Daniel LaBuff, Martin LaBuff, and J. J. LaBuff. He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Peggy Littlefield LaBuff of Dayton, sons: Raymond Lee LaBuff of Shepherd, Roy Earl LaBuff and wife BeBe of San Antonio, Elvis Frank LaBuff and wife Jeanie of Huntington, and Tracy Kent LaBuff and Twila of Dayton, daughter: Shele‚ Joyce Miles of Cleveland, sisters: Madelyn Durdin of Dayton and Nona Rios of Baytown, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Shook

Lloyd Shook, Jr., 51, of Smith Point, died Friday, February 3, 2006 in Smith Point from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born June 3, 1954 in Bellville, Texas to his Parents: Lloyd Shook, Sr. and Linda Busby Shook. He lived most of his life in the Anahuac area, was a self-employed carpenter, accomplished guitarist, enjoyed fishing and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Anahuac.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at the Anahuac cemetery with Rev. Albert Billingsley officiating. Interment will follow at the Anahuac cemetery.

Survivors include: Daughters: Jennifer Brown and her husband Tommy of La Coste, Texas and Heather Bradley of Azle, Texas; Son: Cody Shook of Hankamer; Step-daughter: Heather Sullivan of Hankamer; Mother: Linda Shook of Smith Point; Brothers: Steve Shook of Palestine, Randy Shook of Smith Point and Terry Shook of Smith Point; Grandson: Dylan Brown of La Coste; Granddaughter: Sierra Brown of La Coste and several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Father: Lloyd Shook, Sr. Pallbearers will be: Dean Kennedy, David Rodgers, Chipper Sherman, Jason Reed, Jason Leger and Sherwood Blair. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jason Dearman, Jay Desermeaux, Cody Shook, Brandon Blair, Gary Penick and Danny Pennington.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at the Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.

Scott

Michael R. "Mike" Scott, 53, of Dayton, died Saturday, February 4, 2006, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 2 Pm, Tuesday, February 7, 2006, at the Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton with burial following thereafter. Visitation will be held from 10 Am to 5 Pm, Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Mike was born December 1, 1952 in Brady, to parents; George W. and Bonnie L. White Scott, a former resident of Baytown, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 20 years. He was a electrician for Brown and Root before becoming disabled, member of the First Baptist Church of Dayton, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 13 years: Cyndi Knerr Scott, daughters: Kayla Scott, Sonya Scott, and Sheri Scott, son: Benjamin Scott, brother: David Scott, two nephews, and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Lazenby

Kerry Lewis Lazenby, age 55, of Liberty, TX, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital E.R., in Baytown, TX.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at Allison Funeral Service 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, TX, at 6:00PM w ith the Reverend William Rosenwald officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 6, 2006 at Allison from 5:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M.

Kerry was born in Oklahoma City, OK., on September 11, 1950 to The Reverend Hervey Lewis Lazenby Jr., and Mattie Downman Smyth. He was first chair clarinet in Junior and Senior High school and he was the Drum Major for the Band and he played Football too. He attended Livingston University in Alabama for several years majoring in Music. He was in the Marching and Jazz Bands at the University. He enjoyed playing the clarinet, organ, and piano. He was the back up organist for the Trinity Lutheran Church in Liberty, TX, Kerry was the Regional Supervisor for a chain of Rental Stores before retiring due to health reasons.

Preceded in death by: mother: Mattie Downman, grandparents: Hervey Lewis and Bonnie Bishop Lazenby, Sr., and a aunt: Margaret Lazenby.

Survivors are his wife: Patricia Ann Meyer Lazenby of Liberty, TX, father: Reverend Hervey Lewis Lazenby, Jr., of Austin, TX, a uncle: James Lazenby of Shawnee, OK., a sister-in-law: Elaine and Robert Harrison of Dickinson, TX, long with numerous nieces and nephews.

Huffman

Corey Huffman, 18, of Old River, died Thursday, February 2, 2006 at the M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston after a long battle with Hodgkins.

He was born April 30, 1987 in Houston, was a longtime resident of Old River, a Senior at Dayton High School, very active in the Future Farmers of America and was passionate about his animals. Corey was a member of the Old River Baptist Church and loved hanging out with his friends, watching wildlife, volunteering and being barefoot outdoors and was also part of Youth for Christ at school. He always helped with the coffee house. The coffee house is called "The Living Room"; they met once a month and he always went out and invited students to come. Services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Monday, February 6, 2006 at the Old River Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Biddy Officiating. Interment will follow at the Palms Memorial Park in Dayton under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. He is survived by: Parents: James and Stacey Huffman of Old River; Sister: Meagan Huffman of Old River; Maternal Grandparents: Sue and Gerald Bryan of Baytown; Paternal Grandparents Howard and Sammie Huffman of Old River; Aunts and Uncles: Sherri and Rob Fenstad of San Antonio, Steve and Kathy Harvey of Phoenix, Arizona, Tommy and Theresa Huffman of Old River, Cynthia and Rayland Pitre of Dayton and David Huffman of Old River; Cousins: Travis, Tracie, Lauren and Tyler and numerous Relatives and friends. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2006 at the Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Anderson

“Andy” Dewayne Barton Anderson, 36, of Hull died Friday, January 27, 2006 at Hermann Hospital in Houston.

He was born January 6, 1970 in Beaumont, Texas to parents Edmond Dewayne and Doris Jones Anderson. He graduated in 1988 from Nederland High School and had lived in the Hull area for the past six years.

Service for Mr. Anderson will 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2006 at New Convenant Worship Center in Saratoga with Rev. Wade McKinney and Rev. Talbert Hudspeth officiating. Interment will follow at Guedry cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

He was survived by his Mother: Doris E. Tousha of Hull; Father Edmond Dewayne Anderson and wife Paula of Silsbee; Sisters: Kristina Kendrick and husband Donovan, Amanda Lowe and Clint of Silsbee, LeLellen Robberts and husband Kevin of Silsbee; Brothers: Allen Anderson and wife Shanna and Shaun Tousha and wife Kristy of Iraq.

Visitation for Mr. Anderson will be 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2 at New Convenant Church in Saratoga.

Crutchfield

Paul Crutchfield, age 81, of Liberty, TX, died in a Beaumont Hospital Sunday, January 29, 2006.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Allison Funeral Service 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, TX, with the Reverend Jimmie L. Clemmons officiating, with burial following in the Cooke Memorial cemetery in Liberty, TX. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at Allison from 5:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M.,

Paul was a graduate of the Navasota High School and earned a Masters degree from Sam Houston State University. He was a U. S. Army veteran from WWII and he received the Purple Heart while station in Germany. He was a rice farmer, and worked for the American Rice Growers, He retired from the Liberty and Chambers County Navigation Authority, He was a Past Commander of the Liberty VFW Post # 5621, He was a Past President of the Texas Federation of Coops, a Past President of TVE and he was a very good Rodeo Announcer. Paul married Ruth Geneva Drerup on May 5, 1982 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Cliff and Dave, and a sister: Mary. Survivors are his wife of 23 years, Ruth Crutchfield of Liberty, TX, a son: Paul Chambliss ‘Bubba’ Crutchfield and wife, Susan of Burnsville, N.C., daughter: Candace Griffiths and husband John of Kerrville, TX, a brother: King Crutchfield of Missouri City, TX, . Three grandsons: Christopher Paul Crutchfield and wife Lori of CA., Scott and Amy Dodson of Midland, TX, and Kelley Dodson of Kerrville, TX, and a great granddaughter: Ella Grace Dodson

Paddy

Danny R. "Pete" Paddy, 55, of Liberty, died Sunday, January 29, 2006, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 2 Pm, Wednesday, February 1, 2006, at the Fairlawn cemetery in Liberty with burial following thereafter. Visitation will be held from 10 Am to 5 Pm, Tuesday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Pete was born February 21, 1950 in Junction, to parents; Ira A., Sr. and Loree Favors Paddy, and has resided in the Liberty area for the past 45 years. He was a roughneck in the oil field industry and had also been a shrimper. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and craftwork.

Mr. Paddy was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Al Paddy, Jr., Jessie Paddy, and Marvin Paddy, and sister: Billie Jo Barrett. He is survived by his son: Allen Ray Tally of Liberty, daughter: Jeannie Ray McDonald of Liberty, brothers: Bobby Paddy and wife Virginia of Ace and Sammy Paddy of Liberty, sisters: Betty Walters and husband L.C. of Corrigan, Shirley DeDear and husband Gerald of Liberty, Pat Fingleman and husband Fred of Baytown, and Linda Fregia and husband Preston of Winnie, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of usual floral remembrances, the family requests that donations be made to the Danny R. Paddy Memorial Fund; c/o Linda Fregia at P.O. Box 466, Winnie, TX 77665.
