McGinty

Joseph Drue McGinty, Jr. passed away Saturday, June 5 at Tomball Hospital.

He was born May 23, 1928 to J.D. and Bertha McGinty in Dayton, TX. where he attended school and graduated in the class of 1945. Three years later he graduated from Baylor University.

He was a member of the Tri-Beta Honorary Fraternity. He then enrolled in Pharmacy School at University of Houston. Five months before graduating, he was drafted into the Marine Corp. where he trained in San Diego and Cherry Point, N.C. before being sent to Korea and later transferred to Japan. Upon release from the Marine Corp., he finished at University of Houston with a B.S. Degree in Pharmacy. He returned to Dayton and entered into business with his father at McGinty’s Drug Store. Some 10 years later, he was joined by his brother-in-law, E.R. (Sonny) Richter, Jr. and for the next 25 years they worked side by side in the family business. During that time, Drue was a member of the Dayton Rotary Club, City Council, American Legion, and Chamber of Commerce. He was a life time member of First Baptist Church of Dayton where his paternal grandfather, R.J. McGinty had served as pastor in the early 1900’s.

Drue is survived by his sons Jim and his wife, Kerri; daughters, Cathy McGinty and Tanya Fraden. He is also survived by grandsons, John Drue and Max McGinty of Tomball, “the lights of his life” and by Noah Teutch and Erika Fraden. Also survived by sister, Tish Richter and husband, Ernest (Sonny), niece Robyn Richter Kline and husband Allyn, nephew E. R. (Bubba) Richter, III and wife Nancy. Also survived by great nephews Hunter Richter, Chis Conner, and Matt Kline. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Ann McGinty.

Tumlinson

Dee Roy Tumlinson, 50, of Cleveland died Friday, June 4, 2004 at home after an extended illness. A native of Houston he had lived in Kenefick for 18 years and the past 3 years in Cleveland. Devoted Husband and Father, he graduated from Crosby High School in 1971 and received an Applied Science and Engineering degree from San Jacinto College.

Graveside service will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, June 7, 2004 at Ryan cemetery in Tarkington Prairie with the Eulogy by Linda Pyle and Closing Prayer by Rev. Bill Cauthorn. Survivors are Wife: Marsha Tumlinson of Cleveland; Mother: Kathy Ann Brady of Dayton; Sons: Dee Roy Tumlinson, III (Trey) of Cleveland; Daughter: Heather Gassen and Kevin of Franklin; Brothers: Steve Tumlinson and Dora of Deer Park, Terry Tumlinson of Dayton and Roger Tumlinson of LaPorte, Granddaughter: Kailey Gaffen and Nieces: Cady and Crystal Tumlinson Grandmother: Effie Swink of Pasadena. Visitation will be Sunday 4-9 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Simmons

Arthur Britton Simmons, 68, of Dayton, passed away on Saturday night in a Houston hospital. Visitation will be held from 4pm-8pm on Monday at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Funeral Services will be held at 10am on Tuesday at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton.

Arthur was born on August 9, 1935 in Newton, TX to parents Preston E. Simmons and Ada King. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Air Force. He has lived in the Dayton area for the last 28 years where he worked as a carpenter and homebuilder. A Baptist, Arthur had a strong faith in God. He was a good man who never met a stranger and was always ready to help. In his spare time he enjoyed working in the yard, flowers, fishing, hunting and tinkering around with several projects. Above all, Arthur loved to be around his family. He truly enjoyed family get-togethers and spending time with his grandchildren.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Madie Willis, Maxine Evans and Lula Dorsey and brother Herman Simmons. He is survived by his Loving Wife Nila Simmons of Dayton, daughters Sheryl Gilbert and husband Roy of Navasota, Thelma Catalano and husband Domenic of Burton, Donna Waddell and husband Sonny of Magnolia, Sherry Diab and husband Mike of Dallas and Connie Jones of Houston, brother Ottis Simmons and wife Ruth of Buna, sisters Osalene Sands and husband Oliver of Orange, Irene Deal of Orange and Mille Catherine Lazarine and husband Henry of Houston and his special nephew Victor Willis and wife Veronica. As well as numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, he is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Arthur was eagerly awaiting the arrival of 2 more great-grandchildren.

Brummett

Arthur L. Brummett, age 66, died in a Houston Hospital Thursday, June 3, 2004.

Funeral service will be held at Monday, June 7, 2004 at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church, 519 Main Street, Liberty, TX. with the Reverend Dr. Charles Greene officiating. Burial will follow in the Cooke Memorial cemetery, Liberty, TX. A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2004 at the Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis Street, Liberty, TX, from 7:00 P. M. until 9:00 P. M.

Art was born on December 3, 1937 in Aransas Pass, Texas to parents, O.C. and Lela Mae Bradshaw Brummett. Art graduated from the Marianna High School, Marianna, Arkansas and served in the U.S. Army. He married Jo Ann Jorden on May 1, 1964 in Dayton, TX and moved from LaPorte, TX to Liberty, TX. in 1964. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Men’s Bible Class and was very active with the Youth Department of the church. Art was a member of the Liberty Lion’s Club for many years and was the current ‘Tail Twister’ of the club.

Art is preceded in death by his parents, O.C. and Lela Mae Brummett. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jo Ann Brummett of Liberty, a son and daughter-in-law, Ernie and Peggy Arrington of Liberty, TX, a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jack Rives of Liberty, TX, five brothers, Donnie, Carlton, Curtis, Darrell, and Ricky Brummett, a sister, Sandra Keefer, and two grandchildren, Kara A. Arrington and Chad Arrington, both of Liberty, TX.

In leiu of flowers, donations may be made to the Liberty Lions Club Scholarship Fund or your favorite charity.

Ornelas

Lolita Ann Ornelas, 30 of Liberty, died Sunday, May 30, 2004 in a Houston, Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 4pm, Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at Cooke cemetery. Visitation will be from 1pm until service time at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty.

Mrs. Ornelas was born September 7, 1973 in Liberty to Pat & Lidia Mary Garcia Patterson. She was a homemaker and of the Catholic Faith.

She is preceded in death by her mother and her grandparents Robert & Pearl Patterson.

She is survived by her husband Salomon Ornelas; daughters Selina, Rosa, & Beatriz Alexis Ornales; father Pat Patterson; grandparents Roy & Cathlina Garcia; aunts Bertha Lopez & husband Aguedo all of Liberty, Linda Potts & husband Oley, Adellita Garcia both of Conroe; uncles Jimmy Garcia & wife Christy of Austin & Ronnie Patterson of Mont Belvieu. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive.

Allen

Francis Willette Allen, 75, of Cleveland died May 16, 2004 in Beaumont after an extended illness.

She was born May 14, 1929 in Yell, Arkansas to parents, Olen Elbert and Ollie McBride Lakey. She had lived the past 9 years in Cleveland. She is survived by her husband Pat Allen of Arkansas; sons: Steve Ray Allen of Copenhagen, Denmark; daughters: Trish Nethercot of China, Lorretta Higgeothen of Little Rock, Arkansas, Ginger Wages of Conway, Arkansas, Linda Jackson of North Little Rock, Arkansas, and Cindy Simpson of Dallas; brother: Joe Lakey of Conway; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

The family memorialized Mrs. Allen on Wednesday, May 19th at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Leonard

Clayborn Theodore Leonard, 67 of Liberty, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at Methodist Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 30, 2004 in the First United Methodist Church in Liberty, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 29, 2004 from 5:00 p. m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Allison Funeral Service.

Mr. Leonard was born on August 21, 1936 in Houston, Texas to parents, Henry and Dorothy Leonard. Former service station owner and worked for Liberty Dayton Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge, Jeep, Inc. He was a member of the South Liberty Methodist of Liberty, Texas. He enjoyed doing carpenter work.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and wife Norma Jean Odom Leonard.

He is survived by his daughters; Tammy Pollock and husband James E. of Liberty, Tracy Abshier and husband Scotty of Raywood; son, Clayborn Denton Leonard and wife Kalena of Hardin. Two brothers, Jerry Leonard and David Leonard wife Brenda of Liberty also survive along with sister, Pat Campbell of Liberty and two grandchildren, Clay Allen Leonard and Madison Paige Abshier. Special friend and companion, Beth Rooks and son Frederick Rooks also survive him.

Musgrove

Edith Lucille Musgrove, 92, of Cameron, West Virginia, formerly of Moundsville, WV died Tuesday May 25, 2004 in Cameron. Visitation will be held from 5pm-9 p.m. on Saturday at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm on Sunday at Bethel Assembly of God in Liberty. The Rev. Darrell Brown will officiate. Interment will follow at Fairlawn cemetery in Liberty under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Edith was born on October 23, 1911 in Nacogdoches, TX to Felix Fussell and Minnie Ballow. She was a former grocery store owner in Liberty, TX. She was also a member of Bethel Assembly of God and a former member of the Rebecca Lodge in Liberty.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband S.C. “Shorty” Musgrove, sons Willis, Leon and Earl Mancil, daughter Irene Cummings and two grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Alene Anderson and husband Alvin of Moundsville, WV, 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers be made to Bethel Assembly of God in Liberty.

Hafer

Ina Hafer, 84, of Conroe, formerly of Hull-Daisetta, died on Wednesday in Conroe.

Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Friday at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Funeral Services will be held at 10am on Saturday at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton.

Ina was born on June 14, 1919 in Hufsmith, Texas to parents General Marion Lilleux and Julia Caroline Baker. She lived in the Hull-Daisetta, for many years where she worked for a time in the school cafeteria. She also worked with her husband as a car dealer and spent a great deal of time preparing cars for sale. She was of the Baptist faith. In her spare time Ina enjoyed dancing and flowers.

Ina is preceded in death by her parents, her son Henry Lyrock and her sister Ona Roth. She is survived by her grandchildren, Jerry Lyrock and wife Michelle of Jacksonville, FL, Larry Lyrock and wife Tonya of Cypress, TX and Jimmy Lyrock, great grandchildren Daniel, Sarah, Jeremy and Bethany Lyrock, and nieces Helen Hudson and husband Neal of Conroe and Tennie Dixon of Livingston.

Chavez

Enrique Chavez, age 60, died Sunday, May 23, 2004, in Liberty, TX.

Services will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2004 at the Allison Funeral Service, at 2:00 P. M., with burial in the Liberty Catholic cemetery. A visitation will be on Wednesday, May 25, 2004 from 10:00 A.M. until 8:00 P. M.

Mr. Chavez was a native of San Bartolo, San Luis, Mexico, and was a 31 year residence of Liberty and worked for the Enterprise Gas Company of Houston. for 25 years.He was a Catholic.

Mr. Chavez is preceded in death by his parents, Jacinto Chavez and Fendencia Mata Chavez, a son, Jose Luis Chavez.

Survivors are, his wife of 39 years, Refugia Agilar Chavez, of Liberty, Sons and daughters-in-law, Arturo and Rosa Chavez, Ernesto and Maribel Chavez, Alejandro and Kim Chavez, and Joel Chavez, all of Liberty, TX, daughters and sons-in-law, Consuelo and Hugo Lopez, Elvira and Martin Chavez Mata, brother, Gregory Chavez of San Luis, Mexico, and Jose Gonzales Mata of Houston, TX, a sister, Roberta Chavez, of Mexico, and fifteen grandchildren.

Dean

Ronnie Dean, 52, of Dayton, died Sunday, May 23, 2004 in Houston after an extended illness.

A native of Pasadena, Ronnie had lived in Dayton for the past 20 years. He attended High School in Angleton and served his country in the United States Army. He was retired from Trinity Valley Oil Company where he worked for many years as a driver.

He was preceded in death by his father: James O. Dean. Service for Mr. Dean will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with Rev. Jay Barnes officiating. Interment will follow at Ryan cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Debra Jagers Dean of Dayton; mother: Sue Candelari of San Marcus; son: Mike Dean and wife Yanira of Houston; daughter: Lisa Dean Bass and husband Ken of Corpus Christi; brothers: Hank Candelari and wife Judy of South Carolina and Chad Candelari of Austin; sisters: Connie Johnson of Alvin; Debbie Tidwell and husband Larry of Missouri and Londa Boone and husband Keith of Rockwall; four grandchildren: Alex, Kayde, Karrah, and Kamron; also numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Visitation for Ronnie will be Tuesday 12 noon until 9:30 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.
