Fry

Danny Fry, 61, of Dayton, died Monday morning at his home after an extended illness.

A native of Alpine, Texas he had been a resident of Dayton for the past 27 years. He graduated from Abilene Christian and was employed by Dow Chemical for 25 years working the last 2 years at Electronic Data Systems. He was formerly on the Dayton Library Board. He is fondly remembered as being totally devoted and dedicated to his family. Services will be Thursday, 2:00 p.m., October 9, 2003 at Liberty Church of Christ with Mr. Ron Johns officiating.

Mr. Fry was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, James Harold Fry and Robert Fry. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Fry of Dayton; sons: Dean Fry and wife Julie of Fort Worth; Chad Fry and wife Amy of Arlington; Todd Chachere and wife Kara of Kingwood; daughters: Kim Coker and husband Brian of Fort Worth, Kim Wood and husband Quinn of Dayton, Amy Chachere of Houston; brothers: Randall Fry and wife Mickey of Lampasas, David Fry and wife Jodie of Abilene, Neil Fry and wife Ann of Abilene; sister: June Smith and husband J.E. of Abilene; he is also survived by 15 grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Bob Edwards, Willie Brooks, Ed Lauderdale, Don Fry, Travis Burns, and Andy Thomas. Honorary pallbearers are Jay Walker, Al Walker, Steve Dye, Bill Dinsmore, Chuck Meade, Kenneth Voytek, and Raymond Chachere.

For those who desire, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Dayton Historical Society for the restoration of the Old School House, 607 South Main, Dayton, Texas 77535. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton, Texas.

Hicks

Evelyn Hicks, 74, of Kenefick, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2003 at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

She had lived in Kenefick for the last 10 years and was a retired restaurant owner/operator. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with Rev. Byron Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at the Ryan cemetery in Tarkington Prairie under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

She is survived by: Sons: Jimmy Matthews of Austin and Bobby Matthews of Conroe; Daughters: Pattie Crye of Tarkington Prairie and Shirley Kittrell of Alabama; Brothers: Nolan Hicks of Rotan, Texas and Billy Hicks of Texas; Sisters: Kat Watson of Hawley, Texas, Sue Long of Hobbs, New Mexico, Wanda Hanley of Tuscola, Texas and Belle Davis of Abilene; 15 Grandchildren; 7 Great-Grandchildren and numerous Nieces and Nephews. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2003 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Johnson

Royce L. Johnson, 82, of Cove, died Friday, October 3, 2003; at the Baytown Rehabilitation Center in Baytown.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 2 Pm, Saturday, October 18, 2003, at the Griffith-Icet Family cemetery in Cove. Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Royce was born April 8, 1921 in Cove, to parents; Richard and Iva Icet Johnson, and has resided in the Cove area throughout his life. He was a retired rancher, graduate of the Barbers Hill High School class of 1938, studied engineering at Princeton University, veteran of the US Army with service during World War II, former owner of a machine shop, and enjoyed surveying. He also enjoyed working cattle, anything with mechanics, reading, and his pets.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Henry C. and Armilda Icet, and parents: Richard and Iva Icet Johnson. He is survived by his cousins: Pat Dyer, Nina Presnall, and Joe Icet all of the Cove area, special friend: Diana Blum of Baytown, and numerous other cousins and friends.

Young

Alton Lamar “Bo” Young, 79, of Hardin, died Thursday, October 2, 2003 at Liberty Dayton Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 5, 2003 at the Hardin Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Hines & Rev. Bill Fabriguze officiating. Interment will follow at Hardin Chapel cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty.

Mr. Young was a life long resident of Liberty County. He was a member of the National Champion Hull-Daisetta Bobcat football team that won 43 straight games. He married Betty Jo Lay in 1948. Bo served in the Army Air Force during WWII. He was a retired supervisor from Exxon. He was a Deacon at the Hardin Baptist Church and enjoyed his cows, catfish pond, riding his 4 wheeler and spending time with his great granddaughter.

He is preceded in death by his parents Hamilton & Ruth Cessna Young.

He is survived by his wife Betty Young of Hardin; daughters Linda Ruth Young Bolton of Cypress & Jo Carol Clark; 4 grandchildren Robert Clark & wife Treasia, Bodie Clark & fiancé’ John Sterling of Cypress; great granddaughter Taylor Clark; brother Horace Young & wife Deanie of Hardin. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Alford

Robert Douglas Alford, 56, of Liberty, passed away on Tuesday night in a Port Lavaca hospital. Visitation will be held from 5pm-9 p.m. on Friday at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Funeral Services will be held at 10am on Saturday at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. The Rev. Vernon Parsons will officiate. Interment will follow at Linney cemetery in Dayton.

Robert was born on September 12, 1947 in Liberty to parents Douglas Merl Alford and Juana Colleen Padon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. A lifetime resident of Liberty he worked in the Oil Field as an operations manager and vacuum truck operator. He enjoyed working in the yard, BBQ and cooking. Robert loved kids; he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was known for his love of telling stories.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, sister Linda L. Alford and an infant son. He is survived by his daughters Tammy Smalley of Dayton and Juana Jean Bauerle of Grenada, his son Robert Douglas Alford Jr. of Kansas, brothers Sam Alford of Liberty, Melvin Daniel Alford of Liberty and L.C. Alford of Liberty, sisters Merril Lynn Ramos of Liberty, Florence Gail Foxworth of Livingston and Alma Vilene Villarreal of Liberty. He has 20 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren but was very close to his “Baby Girl” granddaughter Courtney Smalley of LaPorte. Robert is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Cole

Jasmyne Aleigha Cole, infant daughter of Reggie and Christie Cole of Liberty, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at the Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Cleveland.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 2, 2003 at the Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin with Rev. Harold Davis officiating.

She is also survived by: Sister: Madyson Cole of Liberty; Grandparents: Jim and Elaine Sysco of Liberty and Great-Grandparents: Toby and Bernice Dagle of Hardin. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Ruiz

Macrino Martinez Ruiz, 48, of Liberty, died Monday, September 29, 2003 in Liberty.

A visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty.

Mr. Ruiz will then be buried in Mexico.

Standley

Allie Mae LeJeune Standley, 81, of Anahuac, died Monday, September 29, 2003, at the Triumph Hospital in Baytown.

Funeral services will be held at 2 Pm, Thursday, October 2, 2003, at the Oak Island Baptist Church with burial following at the Standley cemetery in Double Bayou. Visitation will be held from 5 Pm to 9 Pm, Wednesday at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.

Allie was born November 13, 1921 in Elgin, LA, to parents; Artelus LeJeune and Alzina Kibodeaux LeJeune, a native of Houston, and has resided in the Anahuac area for the past 50 years. She was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother, and enjoyed baking, sewing, and reading.

Mrs. Standley was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Howard F. Standley, son: Freddie Standley, and brothers: Elmer, Milford, Orie, and Wilbert LeJeune. She is survived by her daughter: Loretta Standley-Sizemore and husband Arnold of Anahuac, grandsons: Anthony Standley of Waco and Christopher Standley of Houston, brother: Lester LeJeune and wife May of Mermonteaux, LA, sister: Dorothy Sonnier and husband Sonny of Jennings, LA, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of usual floral remembrances the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart association at P.O. Box 20448; Houston, TX 77225, in Allie’s name.

Taylor

Walter Lee Taylor, 77, of Liberty, died Monday, September 29, 2003 in Baytown, after an extended illness.

Mr. Taylor was a lifelong resident of the Liberty Area. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church and the Sheriff’s Association. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.

Service for Mr. Taylor will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at the Central Baptist Church in Daisetta, with the Rev. Harry McDaniels and the Rev. Jimmy Van Dorn officiating. Interment to follow at Oakdale cemetery in Daisetta, under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Lee Roy and Althalea Taylor. He is survived by his wife: Wanda Taylor of Daisetta; Son: Edward Taylor and wife Sara of Liberty; Step-Son: Marvin Smith and wife Pearl of Liberty; Daughter: Teresa Graham and wife Billy of Kenefick; Step-daughter: Jean Stanley of Saratoga; Half-brothers: Lee Charles Taylor of Old River and Harold Jordan of Batson; Sisters: Laura Nell Blanchard of Batson and Billie Jean Patton of Batson; Thirteen grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be the men of Central Baptist Church. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m., at Central Baptist Church in Daisetta.

Gregg

Emogene Gregg, 81, of Conroe, died Friday, September 26, 2003, at Northeast Medical Center in Humble, after an extended illness.

She recently lived in Dayton at Heritage Manor. Mrs. Gregg was born in White Co., Arkansas, lived in Dayton 35 years and 14 years in the Conroe area. While living in Dayton she worked at Sav-Way Foods. Service will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 28, 2003 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton with Rev. Greg Williamson officiating. Interment will follow at Huffman cemetery in Huffman, Texas.

Mrs. Gregg is survived by her husband, L.E. Gregg of Conroe, daughters: Cleita Kirkland and husband Elvis of Winnie, Wanda Williams of Huffman; seven step-daughters and 2 step-sons; brother: Tommy Hale of Winnie; sister: Virginia Reed of Splendora; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 9:30 p.m., Saturday, September27, 2003 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Riley

-Sandra Randazzo Riley, 59, of Dickinson, died Friday, September 26, 2003 after an extended illness.

She was a native of Hobbs, New Mexico, resident of Dayton for 3 years, living the last 12 years in Dickinson. She was employed by Shell Oil for 28 years. Mrs. Riley’s service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Hardin officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia cemetery in Dayton.

She is survived by her parents W.D. and Frances Riley of Alvin; sons: Dee Caudill and wife Patty of Dayton and Mike Caudill of Dayton; sister: Linda Holley of Alvin; Grandchildren: Madalynn Caudill, Brandon Caudill, Rachel Caudill, Brian Caudill, and Chyanne Caudill.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 9:30 p.m., Sunday, September 28, 2003 and all day Monday and Monday evening until 9:30 p.m.

Ledford

Leslie “Les” Baxter Ledford, 36, of Tarkington Prairie, was taken from this life Monday, September 22, 2003 in Tarkington Prairie.

Les was born September 11, 1967 in Hoisington, Kansas and has been a resident of Tarkington Prairie for the past 28 years.

He is survived by his parents, Jerry and LaVern Keenan of Tarkington; one brother: James “Jimmy Duck” Ledford of Tarkington; two sisters, Carla Grider and husband Jesse, Sr. of Tarkington, Debbie Hopkins and husband J.C., III of Tarkington; four step-brothers: Tim Keenan and wife Teresa of Iowa; Rod Keenan and wife Colleen of Georgia; Jerry Keenan, Jr. of Georgia; Terry Keenan and wife Donna of Georgia; Special Girlfriend: Vera Clapp. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Memorial service for Les will be 2:00p.m., Saturday, September 27, 2003 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with Bro. Don Burkett officiating.

The family will receive friends beginning at noon before the memorial service on Saturday at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home.
