Cantrell

Jessie Louise Stephens Hickman Cantrell, 77, of Daisetta, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2003 at the East Houston Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Mexia, had lived in Daisetta, for the last 42 years and attended the Baptist Church. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 19, 2003 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with the Rev. Harold Burchfield officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakdale cemetery in Daisetta, under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

She is survived by: Sons: O. L. "Butch" Hickman and his wife Judy Kay of Hardin, Jody Hickman and his wife Margie of Daisetta, James Paul Cantrell and his wife Rita of Saratoga, Cameron Wayne Cantrell and his wife Patricia of Daisetta, and William Earl Cantrell and his wife Mary of Hull; Daughters: Ema "Earline" Pierce and her husband Buddy of Pineland and Sylvia Joy Williams and her husband Marshall of Phenix City, Alabama; 22 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a Son: Robert "Bo" Cantrell. Pallbearers will be: Raymond Howard Hickman, Raymond Sanders, Doyle Sanders, David Hickman, James Burchfield, Eric Thaxton, Dwayne Baldridge and Robert Cantrell. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Craig Cantrell and Coty Cantrell. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., Monday, May 19, 2003 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Lambert

Jo Ann Lambert, 36, of Cleveland/Dayton, died Saturday, May 17, 2003 in Dayton.

Funeral services will be held at 3 Pm, Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at the Sterling Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton. Visitation will be held from 5 Pm to 9 Pm, Monday at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

JoAnn was born February 13, 1967 in Houston to parents; Steve Lambert and Mavis Lewis, and has resided in the Dayton area throughout her life. She was a mother of two, attended high school in Humble, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, boating, and dancing. She also enjoyed working at the 321 Ice House and the Silver Dollar in Dayton.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her mother: Mavis Wood. She is survived by her daughter: Melissa Lambert of Humble, son: Chase Bounds of Cleveland, husband: Glen Manners of Cleveland, sisters: Carolyn Wood of Humble, Marie Johnson of Houston, and Denise Farrar of Huffman, aunts: Margie Hogan of Houston, Barbara Tise of Dayton, and Nelda Chappell of NC, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Caudle

David L. Caudle, 44, of League City, died Thursday, May 15, 2003 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 Pm, Monday, May 19, 2003, at the Sterling Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with Rev. Betty Wenzel officiating and burial following at Fairlawn cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be held from 5 Pm to 9 Pm, Sunday, at the Sterling Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

David was born December 5, 1958 in Baytown, to parents; Jack and Juanita Chance Caudle, a former resident of Dayton, and has resided in League City for the past five years. He was a construction manager for Wingo of The Woodlands for the past three years, former employee of I.C.S. of LaPorte after 17 years of service, graduate of the Sterling High School class of 1978, and had also attended trade school. David also enjoyed fishing, boating, jet skis, and spending time with family and friends.

Mr. Caudle was preceded in death by his mother and nephew: Kelly A. Caudle.

He is survived by his wife of five years: Jennifer Kent Caudle of League City, sons: Dewey Townsend, and Dylan and Drew Caudle all of League City, father: Jack Caudle of Dayton, sister: Debbie Robinson and husband Tommy of Dayton, brothers: Ricky N. Caudle of Dayton and Kramer A. Caudle and wife Rachael of Moss Bluff, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of usual floral remembrances the family requests that donations be made to MD Anderson Research at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, c/o MR527902, 1515 Holcombe Boulevard, Houston, TX 77030, in David’s name.

Vyoral

Josephine E. Vyoral, 86, of Eastgate/Dayton, died Friday, May 16, 2003, at the Liberty Healthcare Center in Liberty.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 Am, Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at the St. Anne’s Catholic Mission in Eastgate with Father Thomas Phelan officiating and burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 Pm to 9 Pm, Monday at the funeral home with wake services at 7 Pm. Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton

.Josephine was born August 31, 1916 in Waller County to parents; Frank and Julia Mynar Vyoral, and has resided in the Eastgate/Dayton area throughout most of her life. She was a homemaker, member of St. Anne’s catholic Mission and the Alter Society. She also had worked on the family farm raising cows and chickens, cared for her father, enjoyed quilting, cooking, and will be remembered for her old world values.

Mrs. Vyoral was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Henry and Louis Vyoral, and sister: Hattie Vandzandt. She is survived by her sisters: Frances Jolly of Dayton and Valsta Gajdosik of Eastgate, niece: Laura Pavlat and husband Frank of Humble, special cousins: Linda Hohn of Eastgate and Sherry Colvin and husband Harlan of Eastgate, sisters-in-law: Ruby Vyoral of Liberty and Louise Vyoral of Dayton, and numerous other relatives and friends.

In lieu of usual floral remembrances the family requests that donations be made to the St. Anne’s Catholic Mission Alter Society at 804 S. Cleveland, Dayton, Texas 77535.

Melton

Sebrina Melton, 26, of Tarkington Prairie, passed away, Saturday, May 10, 2003 at the Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Cleveland.

She was a native of Sheldon and had lived in Tarkington Prairie for the last 11 years. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 15, 2003 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dayton with Father Tom Phelan officiating. Burial will follow at the Eastgate Catholic cemetery under the Direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. A Wake Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton.

Survivors include: Parents: Bobby and Karyn Melton of Tarkington Prairie; Grandparents: Audrey Melton of Mississippi and Rhoda Lodgston of Liberty; Brothers: Eddie Webb of Pasadena and Mike Melton of Houston; Sisters: Theresa Fitzpatrick of England, Jennifer Melton of Huffman, Debbie Jones of Mississippi, Stephanie Hugo of Brenham and Niece: Angel Webb of Tarkington Prairie. She was preceded in death by: Brother: James "Scooter" Melton, Jr. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Harris

Lena Harris, 94 of Hardin, passed away Monday morning at Liberty-Dayton Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton. Visitation will be from 10am - 2pm on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. The Rev. Byron Reeves will officiate. Interment will be at Hardin Chapel cemetery under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Lena is survived by her son, Johnny Welch and his wife Maxine of Hardin, daughter Alline and Daniel Baker of Lumberton, 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cason

Ida Cason, 81, of Dayton, passed away Friday, May 9, 2003, at the Heritage Manor Care Center in Dayton.

She was a native of Lexington, Texas, lived in Dayton for the lat 10 years and was previously a longtime resident of Houston where she was a member of the Park Memorial Baptist Church. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 12, 2003 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with the Rev. Wayne Hardin officiating. Burial will follow at the Palms Memorial Park in Dayton under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

She is survived by: Son: Charles Cason and his wife Lou-Vern of Dayton; Brother: Buster Mobley of Kountze; Uncle: Sam Gay of Houston; Grandchildren: Candace Rice, Charyelle Yoder and Christopher Cason and Great-Grandchildren: Brian, Brent and Cason Rice and Donavyn and Destiney Yoder.

She was preceded in death by: Husband: Byron Cason, Jr. and Brother: R. W. Mobley. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 11, 2003 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Brown

Hughie A. ‘Hugh’ Brown, 70, of Dayton, died Friday, May 2, 2003, at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services will be held at 10 Am, Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at the First Baptist Church of Dayton with burial following at Magnolia Park cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 Pm to 9 Pm, Tuesday at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Hugh was born August 20, 1932, in Yoakum, TX to parents; Earl T. Brown and Wilma Coker Brown, a former resident of Houston, has resided in the Dayton area for the past 16 years and was not a perfect man, but a mere mortal, who now resides in heaven. He was a graduate of the Diboll High School class of 1950. He retired at age 69 from the construction industry after more than 45 years, where he traveled the world. He continued his education throughout his life. He was an avid sports fan. Most of all, he loved his family.

His mother, Wilma Coker Brown precedes him in death. He is survived by his father: Earl T. Brown of Waco, wife of 49 years: Annie R. ‘Ann’ Biddy Brown of Dayton, daughters: Joanne Thomas of Dayton and Jeannie Bernshausen of LaPorte, grandson: Kenneth Thomas, Jr. and wife Stephanie of Dayton, granddaughters: Shanna Truitt and husband Jimmy of Plantersville and Vicki Weaver and husband B.J. of Channelview, great-grandchildren: Bryan, Ashley, Chelsea, Michael, Hughie, Kendahl, and Hannah, brothers: Billy Brown and wife Shirley of Colmesneil and Joe Brown and wife Carolyn of Panorama City, sisters: Patsy Gibbs and husband Bill of Waco and Jeanie Lucas of Highlands, 15 nieces and nephews, 25 great-nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.

Cates

Raymond Ray Cates, Sr., 71, of Cleveland, died May 4, 2003 in Pasadena.

A native of Houston he had been a long time resident of Cleveland. He was retired from the oil refinery business where he was plant operator. His service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton, Texas. Interment will follow at Ryan cemetery, Tarkington Prairie, Texas.

He is survived by his wife Eartis Cates of Cleveland; Three daughters: Carolyn Lynn Parrish, Deborah Ann Mason, and Glenda Darlene Baker; Two Sons: Raymond Ray Cates, Jr. and Mark Kelly Cates. 14 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren also his dog: Andre the Squirrel Dog.

Young

Mable Marie Finley Young, 78, of Hardin, died Saturday, May 3, 2003 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, May 5, 2003 at Finley cemetery in Hardin. Visitation will be from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM on Monday at Allison Funeral Service.

Mrs. Young was born in Daisetta, on January 16, 1925 t Harrison Kirk & Ora Walker Finely. She married E. B. Young on July 23, 1963 in Highlands, Texas. She was a cashier and housewife and of the Baptist faith.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters Nelda Rose Ainsworth and Donna Jane Julian; stepson Edward Young.

She is survived by her husband E. B. Young; sons Bobby Crocker & wife Judene; step-son Mitchell Young all of Hardin; daughters Linda Wylie & husband Les of Kenefick and Patsey Young o Goldsborro, NC; brother H. K. “Buddy” Finely and wife Pat of Hardin; aunt Susie Roberts of Baytown; 7 Grandchildren; 7 great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Granddaughter. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be James Richard Fregia, James M. Fregia, Scott Ainsworth, Jason Ainsworth, Matt Haberle, and Paul Cupid.

Green

Lillie S. Green, 82, of Dayton, passed away Friday, May 2, 2003 at the Heartland Hospice in Baytown.

She was born, in Dayton, the daughter of the late Jim Simpson, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Hawkes Simpson. She lived most of her life in Dayton before moving to Baytown a few years ago. She was the Valedictorian of the 1939 Dayton High School Graduating Class and worked for Dr. Wilson for 11 years and the Jamison-Martin Insurance Agency for 9 years. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday. May 5, 2003 at the Linney cemetery in Dayton with the Rev. Dennis Larson officiating. Services will be under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

She is survived by: Son: David Green and his wife Fawn of Baytown; Daughter: Rose Marie Jones and her husband Earnest of Dayton; Sister: Jean Wofford and her husband Conley of Austin; Special Sister-in-law: Mai Simpson of Pasadena; Grandchildren: Ernie Jones, Jr., Bobby and Jill Jones, Konnette and Matt Koen and Kathleen Green; Great-Grandchildren: Micah and Caleb Koen and numerous Nieces, Nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by: Husband: Cecil Green; Brothers: Jim Simpson, Jr., Sidney Simpson and Albert Simpson and a Sister: Elizabeth Angell. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m., until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, May 4, 2003 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. The family would like to extend Special Thanks to: Heartland Hospice, Nora Herman and Karen Haynes.
