Hillyer

Oscar Hillyer, Jr., 88, of Anahuac, was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, July 27, 2002.

A service of celebration will be at First United Methodist Church of Anahuac at 1 Pm, Tuesday, July 30, 2002 with burial following at Anahuac cemetery. A reception for family and friends will be at 3 Pm, in the Methodist Youth Center. Visitation will be held from 5 Pm to 9 Pm, Monday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac.

Oscar was born December 17, 1913 in Sour Lake to parents; Eddie O. Hillyer, Sr. and Anne Stafford Hillyer, a former resident of Smith Point and Houston, he has resided in the Anahuac area for the past 15 years. He was a self made man rising from the oil fields of Sour Lake, to the Supervisor of Employee Relations of the producing department for the Houston division of Texaco, and retired from Texaco in 1976 after 43 years of service. He was also past president of the Houston Personnel Association and chairman of the United Fund, past president of the Anahuac Chapter 1171 of AARP, member, bazaar chairman, and chairman to the board of trustees of the First United Methodist Church.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren who along with everyone else affectionately called him 'Poppy'. He loved to entertain his many friends and family with food, song, and stories along with gifts from his woodworking shop. He was a truly unique individual. He was a born leader with an infectious positive personality and untiring devotion to his family, church and community who will greatly miss him.

Mr. Hillyer was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Stafford Hillyer, and sister: Hyacinth Schmeitzel. Survivors include his wife of 68 years: Mae Hillyer of Anahuac, their two sons: Eddie Hillyer and wife Fay of Beaumont and Dick Hillyer and wife Nancy of Spring, sister: Pat Hoeber of Concan, brother: Ray Hillyer of Pensacola, FL., six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of usual floral remembrance the family requests that donations be sent to the First United Methodist Church Bazaar Fund at P.O. Box 609, Anahuac, Texas 77514.

Powell

Roy Raymond Powell, 80, of Liberty, Texas, died Friday, July 26, 2002 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 28, 2002 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Devers with Rev. Harry McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow at Whittington cemetery. Visitation will be at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty, Saturday, July 27, 2002 from 5 PM until 9 PM.

Mr. Powell was a native of Gainesville, Texas and had been a resident of Liberty for over fifty-six years. He was a rice farmer and enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and farming. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Mr. Powell is preceded in death by his parents: Ira Cluade Powell and Velma Eugene Webster Powell, Wife and Brother: Jack Powell.

Roy is survived by his Daughters: Carol A. Campbell and husband Carroll and Judy Henry & husband Paul, Grandson: Jim Litton & wife Jeannie, Great-Grandson: James Litton all of Liberty, Texas. Serving, as Pallbearers will be Tommy McMullan, Horance Whittington, Jim Litton, B.H. Whittington, Jr., Ken Moulder and James M. Smith.

Pilgreen

Dairrell Glynn Pilgreen, age 23, of Saratoga, Texas, died Friday, July 26, 2002 in Liberty.

He was the son of the late Albert Pilgreen and Lillie (Singleton) Messer. He was a native of Silsbee, had lived most of his life in Hardin County and was an Oil Field Roughneck. He is also survived by his wife Angela Slaughter of Spurger; One Daughter: Carley Pilgreen of Spurger, One Sons: Dave Pilgreen of Spurger; Two Sisters: Kitten Sthram of Saratoga and Amanda Thompson of Saratoga: Six Brothers: Travis Pilgreen of Saratoga, Olan Pilgreen of Kountze, Beret Pilgreen of Baytown, Leonard Pilgreen of Vidor, Jesse Pilgreen of Iowa and Daniel Pilgreen of Silsbee and Grandmother: Lillie Singleton of Batson.

Arrangements are being handled by Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton where the family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM Sunday, July 28, 2002. A graveside funeral service will be at Guedry cemetery at 10:00 AM Monday, July 29, 2002, with Rev. Jim Shane officiating.

Storey

John Benjamin "J. B." Storey, Jr., 66, of Batson, died Thursday, July 25, 2002 at his residence.

He was a native and lifetime resident of Batson, worked in the petroleum industry for 50 years, was an avid horseman and fisherman and was a member of the Westend Baptist Church in Saratoga. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 28, 2002 at the First Baptist Church in Batson with the Rev. Alvin Tomlinson officiating. Burial will follow at the Guedry cemetery in Batson under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

He is survived by: Wife: Eva M. Storey of Batson; sons: John Richard "Rick" Storey and wife Gaynell of Richmond, Wesley Wayne Storey of Livingston, Robert Lloyd Storey of Livingston, Kenneth Ervin "Ken" Cummings and wife Lori of Port Arthur and Harold Wade Storey of Cedar Town, Georgia: Daughters: Cynthia Deneice "Cindy" Cummings of Batson and Robin Foss and husband Michael of Dayton, New Jersey; Brothers: William George "Bill" Storey of Saratoga and Robert Earl Storey and wife Margaret of Saratoga; Sisters: Ona Lee Carouthers of Saratoga and Mary Nell Clark and husband Buddy of Batson; Seven Grandchildren and one Great-Grandchild.

He was preceded in death by: Parents: John Benjamin Storey, Sr. and Minnie Alma (Carouthers) Storey; Brother: Ewell Storey; Sisters: Gertie Wells, Dorothy Cherry, Minnie Green and Rita Clark.

Pallbearers will be: Jamie Nettles, Orville Davis, A. J. Ashworth, Hollis LaRue, Norman Adams, Darrell Carouthers, Gregg Lawrence and Eli Elizondo. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cole Storey, Ben Brownlee, Jon Foss, Larse Carouthers and Shawn Maricelli.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM, Saturday, July 27, 2002 at the First Baptist Church in Batson.

Hylton

Edwin Ray Hylton, Sr., 71, of Liberty, died on Thursday, July 25, 2002 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 27, 2002 at 2:00 PM at Allison Funeral Service with Bro. Wilburn L. Snyder officiating. Interment will follow in Worthy cemetery in Liberty, Texas.

Mr. Hylton was born on June 11, 1931 in Highlands, Texas. He had lived in the Liberty County area since 1972. He was of the Baptist faith. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown. He was a member of the Elks Lodge & American Legion. He enjoyed hunting and his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Randolph & Kate Chandler Hylton: wife: Billie Hill Hylton: Sister Helen Jasek.

Mr. Hylton is survived by Son: Edwin Ray Hylton, Jr. & wife Cynthia of Liberty; Daughters: Claudia Jones & husband Rick of Highlands, B. J. Richardson & husband Dale of Highlands, and Kathryn Johnson & husband Rick of Liberty; Brother: Harry Hylton & wife Dorothy of Segno; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers are Heath Jones, Seth Richardson, Andrew Hylton, Jared Keene, Jimmy Pavliska, Mark Kelly.

LeNormand

Felton LeNormand, 79, of Moss Hill, Texas, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at Golden Charm Nursing Home in Liberty.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 26, 2002 at 10:00 AM at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty, Texas with Rev. James B. Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Moss Hill cemetery. Visitation will be at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty, Thursday, July 25, 2002 from 5 PM until 9 PM.

Mr. LeNormand was a native of Hull and lifelong resident of Liberty County. He was a carpenter and loved animals, especially cows, hogs and rabbits. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and was an avid sports watcher especially football, and basketball on TV He was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II.

Felton is preceded in death by his parents: John & May Fregia LeNormand, two brothers: Elton LeNormand & Rolla LeNormand and Sister: Nora Baxter.

Felton is survived by his Wife: Cordelia "Cordie" LeNormand of Moss Hill; Son: Gary LeNormand & wife Esther of Moss Hill; Step-Daughters: Yvonne Bittick & husband Maurice of Cleveland, Jeannette Fisher & husband Dan of Pasadena; Step-son: Woody Gunter & wife Betty of Carrollton, Texas; Sister: Virginia Rawlinson of Hull, 11 Grandchildren and 13 Great-grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and other relatives & friends.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Gary LeNormand, Maurice Bittick, Bobby Bardwell, Dan Fisher, Woody Gunter, Gary LeNormand, Jr. and Steven Sellers.

Roehr

Rusty Lynn Roehr, age 19, of Dayton, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at his residence.

He was a native of Eastland, Texas, was a longtime resident of Dayton, graduated from Dayton High School in 2002 and was a member f Faith Tabernacle Church in Tarkington Prairie. He was the son of Mitchell Roehr and Dana (Duncan) Roehr of Dayton.

He is also survived by his two Sisters: Kimberly Roehr of Dayton and Joanie Roehr of Dayton; Two Brothers: Ricky Roehr of Dayton and Pete Ladner of Dayton; Grandparents: Richard and Joan Roehr of Silverton, Texas and Norene Ducan of Cisco, Texas along with numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Church Family.

He was preceded in death by his Grandfather: Lon Duncan.

Arrangements are being handled by Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton where the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 9:30 PM Thursday, July 25, 2002. Funeral services will be at Faith Tabernacle Church at 11:00 AM Friday, July 26, 2002 with Rev. Ken Smith officiating. Interment will be a Ryan cemetery in Tarkington Prairie.

Williamson

Brunson Ellis "Punkin" Williamson, 64, of Hardin, died Sunday, July 21, 2002 in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at Allison funeral Service with Rev. Tony Hines officiating. Interment will follow at Hardin Chapel cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 PM until 9PM, Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Williamson was a life long resident of Hardin graduating from Hardin High School. He was a diesel mechanic and owned his own shop. He was a Baptist by faith and enjoyed hunting, fishing, flowers and gardening.

He is preceded in death by his father Bun Williamson and his father-in-law & mother-in-law M. B. & Jewel Campbell Coward.

"Punkin" is survived by his wife Lynn Coward Williamson; daughter Laurie Anderson; sons Bull Williamson & wife Ramona al of Hardin, Mike Williamson & wife Crystal of Liberty; and 7 grandchildren.

Hancock

Marjorie May Hancock, 77, of Batson, died Saturday, July 20, 2002 in a Houston Hospital after a brief illness. Services are planned for Monday, July 22, 2002 at the First Baptist Church in Batson, TX at 2 PM. Burial will follow in the Guedry cemetery in Batson. Visitation will be Sunday, July 21 from 5 PM until 9 PM at the church.

Mrs. Hancock was born July 23, 1924 to parents Clyde E. Morris and Viola Scott. She married Isaac L. Hancock and to this marriage was blessed 2 sons Luther Lynn Hancock and Leslie Hancock. Mrs. Hancock enjoyed reading, raising cattle, spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and watching the Houston Sports Teams. She also enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys. In addition to this she helped at the Republican poles during the elections.

Mrs. Hancock is survived by her husband of 58 years, Isaac Hancock; sons: Luther Lynn Hancock and wife Barbara and Leslie Hancock & wife Sherry all of Batson; 4 grandchildren; Lynn Hancock Jr. & wife Hollie of Beaumont, Brandye Hancock of Batson, Jason Hancock & wife Lexi and by Kristen Hancock-White & husband Joe Bob of the US Navy. Two great grandchildren also survive Baleigh Hancock and Lauren Fregia.

Mrs. Hancock is preceded by her parents Clyde Morris and Viola Scott Morris and by 2 sisters Nancy Morris and Mamie Williams.

Fatheree

Herbert Jerry Fatheree, 58, of Edmond, Oklahoma, died Thursday, July 18, 2002 in Edmond.

A native of Monroe, Louisiana and a former resident of Baytown, Mr. Fatheree had hoped to make his retirement home in Dayton. He had worked in the construction business for 40 years and had traveled and lived all over the United States. He was a Member and deacon in the full Gospel Church in Louisiana.

Survivors include his Wife: Mary Fatheree of Edmond, Oklahoma; Mother : Ethel Fatheree of Alexandria, LA; Sons: William Todd Fatheree of Monroe, LA, Ricky R. Reidl of Greatlakes, Il, and Jason Paul Reidl of Tifton, GA; Daughter: Jerri Lynn Fatheree of Monroe, LA, Staci Lynn Fatheree of Farmerville, LA, Cathy Lynn Platt of Garland, TX Anna Boone of Mesquite, TX, Teresa Griggs of Newnan, GA, Kathleen Ann Taffi of Huntsville, Al, and Dannette Reidl of Omaha, NB; Sister: Sue Tomlinson of Alexandria, LA; Brother and Siter-in-law: Ernie and Marci Leanard of Dayton; 24 Grand Children and 1 Great-Grandchild.

Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
