Cochran

Nina Cochran, 78, of Dayton, died Sunday, July 7, 2002 at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

She was a native of Bancroft, Louisiana, lived in Cleveland for 2 years, had previously lived in Merryville, Louisiana for 23 years, was a member of the Hi-way Tabernacle Assembly of God Church and was a retired waitress.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, July 10, 2002 at the Pace-Stancil funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with the Rev. Oscar Snider officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakshade cemetery in Cleveland under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

She is survived by Sons: Louis Daniel Phillips of Vidor, Charles Phillips of Cleveland and Michael Phillips of Cleveland; Daughter: Wand Ling of Tarkington Prairie; Sister: Ima Ricks of Beaumont; 10 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Parker

Ana Bell Taylor Parker, 85, died at her home on July 8, 2002.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 10, at 1 PM at Memory Gardens in Baytown, TX. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 9, form 5 PM to 9 PM at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty.

Anna Bell was preceded in death by her parents, Miteal and Hubert Taylor Sr. Her aunt that raised her, Alice Holts, and her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband Howard: daughter Carolyn Chenault and husband Davie all of Liberty: son, Daryl Parker and wife Marsha of Dayton. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great grand children, nieces and special friends. Serving as pallbearers are family members: Donnie, Danny, Joshua, Jeremy Burk, Jimmy Parker, Robert Stevenson, Paul Lirette, Davie Chennault and special family friend Dr. Ricky Myers.

Anna Bell was raised in Beaumont and graduated form South Park High School. In 1996 she moved to Liberty after having lived in Baytown for many years. She spent her adult life making a home for her husband of 64 years and her children. Some of her great pleasures were hunting, fishing, and entertaining guests in her home.

Services are under the direction of Allison Funeral Services, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Peebles

Frances Elaine Pebbles, 83, of Liberty, died Saturday July 6, 2002 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Charles Greene officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at Peebles cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, July 8, 2002 at Allison Funeral Service.

Mrs. Peebles was born in Shelby County, Texas on December 10, 1918 to Parents Richard H. & Mary Frances "Fanny" Beck Blackstock. She attended Center High School & received her degree from College of Marshall (now East Texas Baptist University). She taught school in Midway, Texas before starting her family. She moved to Liberty from Livingston in 1958. Mrs. Peebles was a member o the United Methodist Women, Lifetime member of the Coterie Club & the Faith Sunday School Class. She enjoyed playing bridge & making ceramics, especially nativity sets. She was also an artist & enjoyed traveling, making trips to Europe, the Holy Land & the Bahamas.

Mrs. Peebles was preceded in death by her parents, Her husband: M. A. "Tony" Pebbles & son: David A. Peebles, three brothers & three sisters.

She is survived by Daughter: Mary Clymer & husband Mike of Liberty: Sons: Rick & wife Sharon of Baytown and Pat Peebles & wife Brenda of Lake Jackson; Grandchildren: Rob Peebles & wife Heather, Amy Mayo & husband Thomas, Laurie Zuehlke & husband David, Todd Peebles, Annie Clymer; Great-Grandchild: Caroline Mayo: Caregivers: Rose Guillory, Gert Guillory, Cynthia Guillory, Kelly Guillory & Monica Guillory; numerous other relatives and friends.

Sanford

Mervin Sanford, 74, of Dayton, died Saturday, July 6, 2002 at the Citizens Hospital in Victoria.

A native of Huntsville he was previously of Crosby and had resided in Dayton for the past 18 years. He was retired from Houston Natural Gas and Pipeline serving 38 years and was a member of the Baptist faith.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, July 8, 2002 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with the Rev. Wayne Hardin officiating. Graveside services will follow at 4:30 PM at the Anahuac cemetery in Anahuac.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years: Edith Sanford of Dayton; Daughters: Jo Carroll Filley and her husband Mike of Austin and Linda Hankins and her husband Bud of Victoria; Son: Robert Willis and his wife Debbie of Dayton; Sister: Ola Martin of Austin and 3 Grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Sanford will be held at Sunday, July 7, 2002 from 3:00 PM until 9:30 PM at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Pallbearers will be Bud Hankins, Jason Hankins, George Poulof, Mike Filley, Rob Willis and George Paterson.

Coward

M. B. Coward, 92, of Hardin, died Saturday, June 1, 2002 at Methodist Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at Allison funeral Service. Interment will follow at Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin. Visitation will be from 5 PM until 9 PM on Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Coward was a native of Kahoma, TX and lived most of his life in Liberty & Hardin. He was a retired Tool Pusher and a Methodist. He enjoyed riding his 4 wheeler, picking up & selling cans, and his dog "Lady."

He is preceded in death by his parents Henry James & Pearl M. Griffin Coward; wife Jewel Coward: and a son Bo Coward.

He is survived by his daughter Lynn Williamson & husband Punkin of Hardin; sister Neicie Moore of Liberty; granddaughter Laurie Anderson; grandsons Bull Williamson both of Hardin and Mike Williamson of Liberty; 7 great grandchildren. Numerous nieces & nephews & other relatives and friends.

Moran

William Louie "W. L." Moran, 75, of Liberty, died Sunday, June 2, 2002 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at Liberty Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Cooke cemetery; Visitation will be from 5 PM until 9 PM on Monday at Allison Funeral Service.

Mr. Moran was a native of Foulkville, AL and was a former resident of Synder, TX before moving to Liberty in 1077.

He was a District Clerk of General Crude & Mobil Oil and was a Veteran of WWII serving in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph Benjamin & Bertha Mae Payne Moran and a son Bart C. Moran.

He is survived by his wife Bobbie Moran of Liberty; daughter Lisa Warren & husband Joe of Beaumont; daughter-in-law Yvonne Cantu Moran of Sinton, TX; 5 grandchildren Autumn Moran of Sinton, TX, Jeremy & Christopher Calhoun & Ashley & Jesse Warren all of Beaumont.

Cooper

Nathan Clay Cooper, 1 month and 11 days, of Tarkington Prairie, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at the Clear Lake Regional Medical Center in Webster.

Funeral services will be held at 2 Pm, Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at the Sterling Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton.

Visitation will be held from 5 Pm to 9 Pm, Tuesday at the funeral home.

Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Nathan was preceded in death by his great-grandfather: James Votaw, Jr. He is survived by his mother: Marianne Cooper of Tarkington Prairie, brother: Dylon J. LeJeune of Tarkington Prairie, grandparents: David and Theresa Votaw of Tarkington Prairie and Don Wayne Cooper of Austin, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.

Stanley

John L. Stanley, 63, of Dayton, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at the St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Pm, Friday, May 24, 2002, at the First Baptist Church of Dayton with Rev. Randy Piatt officiating and burial following at Ryan cemetery in Tarkington Prairie. Visitation will be held from 5 Pm to 9 Pm, Thursday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

John was born September 1, 1938 in Bronson to parents; Johnnie L. Stanley and Edna Wester Stanley, a former resident of Channelview, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 11 years. He was a retired Truck Driver for Mission Petroleum of Houston after 15 years of service, member of the First Baptist Church of Dayton, and former student of Silsbee High School. He also enjoyed his dogs, horses, traveling, barbecues, his yardwork, and especially spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, and sister: Edna Cole. He is survived by his wife of 30 years: Velma Childress Stanley of Dayton, daughters: Rene Johs and husband David of Bay City, Suzanna Minx and husband Johnny of Dayton, and Sheila Joplin and husband Clifford of Katy, sons: John A. Stanley and wife Traci of Van Austyne and David LeLeux and wife Charli of Euless, 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of usual floral remembrances the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church at 202 E. Houston; Dayton, Texas 77535, in John's name.

Smith

Acie Gordon Smith, 87, of Eunice, LA, died Saturday, May 18, 2002 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, May 20, 2002 at Allison Funeral Service with Dr. Jimmie Clemmons officiating. Interment will follow at Guedry cemetery in Batson. Visitation will be from 5 PM until 9 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith was a native of Mayflower, TX, and was a former resident of Hardin before moving to Eunice, LA 8 years ago. He was a carpenter and enjoyed working with wood, hunting, fishing, and had even made electric guitars at one time.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Nettie Rogers Smith, son Robert Acie Smith, step-grandson Michael Reed and 6 brothers and 3 sisters.

He is survived by his wife Beatrice Smith of Eunice, LA; sons Lawrence Smith and wife Sue of Hornbeck, LA, Donnie Smith & wife Mamie of Hull; daughter Mary Beaver & husband Allen of Mauriceville, TX; step-daughter Anita Reed & husband Lony of Eunice; 9 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren & 18 step-great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101N. Travis, Liberty, TX 77575.
