Parish

Gnell Parish, 87, of Dayton, passed away August 5, 2001 in Houston after a lengthy illness. A native of Mart, Texas she had lived in Dayton for the past several years after moving from Livingston. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, August 8, 2001 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Blackburn officiating.

Graveside services will follow at 3:30 PM at Camp Ruby cemetery in Livingston.

Mrs. Parish is survived by four sons: Gene Earl Parish of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Boyd Allen Parish of Lumberton, Jerry Dan Parish of Spring and Gary Don Parish of Dayton; One daughter, Joy Drusckhe of Brenham: One brother, Odell Williams of Gainsville; Grandchildren: Jimmy Drusckhe of San Antonio; Angie and Stephen Parish of Lumberton.

Visitation will be 3:00 PM, Tuesday at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

For those who desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 4425 W. Airport Fwy, Suite 130, Irving, Texas 75062.

Adams

Joseph H. 'Jack' Adams, 77, of Liberty, died Monday, July 30, 2001, at the Liberty-Dayton Hospital in Liberty. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, August 2, 2001, at Woodlawn Garden of Memories in Houston with Dr. Bill Newcomb officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 9 PM, Wednesday, at Allison Funeral Service in Liberty.

Honorary pallbearers will be his golf buddies. Jack was born January 14, 1924 in Dayton, to parents; George Adams and Lillian Weaver Adams, a former resident of Florida and Houston; he has resided in the Liberty area for the past 16 years. He was a retired Personnel Manager for Lonestar Industries in Houston with 40 years of service, member of the First United Methodist Church of Liberty and Men's Bible Class, Liberty Elk's Lodge, Vice President of the Pioneer Class of Dayton High School, board member and volunteer for the American Cancer Society, graduate of the Dayton High School class of 1941, graduate of the University of Houston with a Bachelor's degree in Business administration, and veteran of the US Navy with service during WW II. Jack also enjoyed playing golf at the Magnolia Ridge Country Club.

Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Raymond, Clare, Weaver, and Fagen Adams, and sister: Beneva Adams. Survivors include his wife of 46 years: Dorothy Adams of Liberty, sons: Wayne Winn and wife Mary Ann of Houston and Robert 'Bob' Adams and wife Deborah of North Carolina, daughter: Judy Entzenberger and husband Paul of Houston, five grandchildren: Steve Shaw and wife Molly, Aron and Sam Entzenberger, Jason Winn and Andrien Ais and husband Oliver, great-grandchild: Hailey Shaw, sister: Carolyn Magee of Houston, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of usual floral remembrances the family requests that donations be sent to the American Cancer Society and NCICFUL, P. O Box 102454; Atlanta, GA. 30368-2454

Allen

Tammy L. Lucas Allen, 35, of Liberty, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, in Batson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, August 1, 2001, at the Allison funeral Service Chapel in Liberty with burial following at Fairlawn Memorial Park in Liberty. Pall bearers will be Steven, Darren and Rickey Lucas, Tommy Bartosh and Claborne and Chad Allen, with honorary pallbearers: Olyn Hendricks, Vance Berry and members of the Silsbee Police Department. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM, Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at the funeral home.

Tammy was born April 30, 1966 in Alexandria, Virginia to parents: Pifer Lucas, Jr. and Janyce Edmonds and has resided in the Liberty area since 1979. She was a graduate of the Liberty High School class of 1985, a Dispatcher for the Silsbee Police Department for nine years and previously with the Dayton Police Department and the T.V.E. Rodeo Queen of 1983. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, photography and especially spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Lucas was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather: Pifer Lucas, Sr. Survivors include her husband: Ray Allen of Liberty, son: Robi D. Gibbson of Liberty, daughters: Tiffany L. Lucas, Kati Ann Gibson, and Lindsay C. Allen all of Liberty, mother: Janyce Lee and husband Michale of Livingston, father: Pifer Lucas, Jr. and wife Debbie of Liberty, brothers: Steven Lucas and wife Patricia, Darren Lucas and wife Trisha, Rickey Lucas and wife Jana Trinity Davis, and Josh Davis all of Liberty, sisters: Ginger Hendricks and husband Olyn of Liberty, Jennifer Lee of Livingston and Valarie Berry and husband Vance of Livingston, maternal grandparents: Lee and Ruth Edmonds of Liberty, paternal grandmother: Rouie Faye Lucas of Virginia, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of usual floral remembrances the family requests that donations be made for a Scholarship Fund for the children to; Silsbee Police Department, c/o Asst. Chief Tommy Bartosh; 250 Ernest Ave.; Silsbee, Texas 77656.

Fegia

Bobbie Fregia, 68, of Hardin, died Sunday in a Beaumont Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday at North Main Baptist Church in Liberty. Interment will follow at Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin under the direction of Allison Funeral Service in Liberty. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM Tuesday at the church.

Mr. Fregia was a native and lifelong resident of Hardin. He spent most of his life as an operator in the oil and gas industry. He was active in the rodeo in his younger days where he rode bulls and horses. He also loved swimming in the local rivers.

His parents, George and Lula Fregia, his brothers, A. C., J. D., J. B. and Woody Fregia, his sister Dolly Fregia, his daughter Rhonda Fregia and his son Bobby George Fregia, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Zelma Elaine Fregia of Hardin, his sons, Elbert Fregia of Daisetta, Robby Fregia of Hardin, his sister Molly Rives of Hardin, his brothers Buddy Fregia of Moss Hill, George Ervin Fregia of Hardin and Merele Fregia of Hardin.

Hauke

Betty Marlene Davis Hauke, 63, of Cleveland, died Friday, July 27, 2001 at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston. She was a native of Paris, Texas, a longtime resident of Cleveland and was a loyal, longtime employee of the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, July 30, 2001 at the Pace-Stancil/ Probst Funeral Home Chapel in Cleveland with Dr. Howell Burkhead Officiating. Burial will follow at the Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Garden in Cleveland under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

She is survived by her Husband: Gerald Hauke of Cleveland; Sons: Steve Wilson of Lubbock and Charles Hauke of Cleveland; Brother: David Davis of Dallas; Sister: Mignon Landrum and her husband Bernie of Houston; 2 Grandchildren; 1 Great-Grandchild; Uncle: Chester Davis of Garland; Aunts: Christine Brown of Cleveland, Myrtle Sheehan of Powderly, Dorothy Wardlow of Powderly and Beatuton of Jonesville Louisiana.

Powell

Hubert Clifford “Papa” Powell, 74, of Hardin died July 27, 2001. He was born April 30, 1927 in Kirbyville, TX to James and Nettie Powell.

Cliff retired from the City of Liberty in 1993 after 17 years of service as the City Street Superintendent. He proudly served in the Navy during WW II, and was a member of the Hull Masonic Lodge.

Cliff who was also known n as Papa, enjoyed woodworking, where he was known for his miniature dog houses and bird houses. He also enjoyed, camping, traveling with wife Patti, their children and grandchildren, watching Wheel of Fortune or playing 42 with his family or friends. Papa’s biggest joy was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Cliff is preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and sisters.

Cliff is survived by his wife of 25 years; Patty Powell of Hardin, three daughters; Dana Abshier and Husband Robert Schaadt of Liberty, Amy McHenry and husband Tim of Round Rock, Lanelle Jolley of Cedar Creek, 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday July 30, 2001 at North Main Baptist Church in Liberty with Dr. Jimmie Clemons and Rev. Tony McCraw officiating. Burial will follow at Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin.

Land

Carl Land, Jr., 82, of Anahuac, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at the Arboretum Nursing Home in Winnie.

Graveside services will be held at 10 AM, Monday, July 30, 2001, at the Eminence cemetery in Wallisville with Masonic Right of Burial. Pallbearers will be Mike Land, Danny Land, Forest Land, Taylor Waits, Roland Gresham, and Donny Waits, Jr., and honorary pallbearers Edward Mack and Ronald Gresham.

Carl was born August 9, 1918 in Galveston, to parents: Carl Land, Sr. and Estell Wentzel Land, and has resided in the Anahuac area throughout his life. He retired as a pipe fitter from A. J. Mundy in Pasadena, a member of the First Baptist Church of Anahuac, Anahuac Masonic Lodge #995 AF&AM, the Houston Scottish Rite, the Houston Shrine, and a veteran of the US Army with service during WWII He enjoyed fishing, hunting visiting with friends and travel.

Mr. Land was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Marie Land, and one son: Kenneth W. Land. Survivors include his son: Leo Land and wife Alma of Devers, daughters: Deborah S. Land of Lubbock, Rita J. Land of Woodlands and Colleen Waits and husband Donny of Anahuac, six grandchildren, three grant-grandchildren, numerous other relatives and friends.

Bowling

J. R. Bowling, 69, of Freeport, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2001 at the Brazosport Memorial Hospital in Lake Jackson. He was a native of Kemp, Texas, had lived in the Brazoria County area since 1967, was a Carpenter for over 30 years in Local #1084 holding the office of President for 15 of those years, a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the V.F.W Post #4133 in Trinidad, Texas. Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 29, 2001 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with Mr. Eddie Miller Officiating. Burial will follow at the Ryan cemetery in Tarkington Prairie under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

He is survived by his Wife of 30 years. Elaine Bowling of Freeport; Sons: Terry Michael Bowling and his wife Glenda of Blooming Grove, Timothy Wayne Bowling and his wife Jackie of Sherman and Winfred J. Bowling of Jones Creek; Daughter: Catherine McDaniels and her husband Michael of Jones Creek; Brothers: Johnnie Kenneth Bowling and his wife Earlene of Corsicana, W. B. Bowling of Trinidad and Lloyd Bowling, Jr. and his wife Wanda of Blooming Grove; Sisters: Billie Nevill and her husband Daniel of Barry and Elsie Skinner and her husband Allen of Corsicana; 6 Grandchildren; 4 Great-Grandchildren and Numerous Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by: Son: Jeffery Randall Bowling Brother: Malvin Bowling and Sisters: Sible Vaughan.

Pallbearers will be: Clayton Simmons, Sr., Lloyd Simmons, C. W. “Bud” Simmons, Brian Simmons, Rick Farley and Tim Jennings. Honorary Pallbearers will be John McDaniels and Danny Jennings. Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM, Saturday, July 28, 2001 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Lyrock

Sherri J. Frye Lyrock, 37, of Dayton, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Hermann Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, July 28, 2001, at the Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton with burial following at Hardin Chapel cemetery in Hardin. Visitation will be held form 5 PM to 9 PM, Friday at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton.

Sherri was born August 25, 1963 in Rogers, AR, to parents; Jerry Frye and Billie Hartman, a former resident of Liberty and has resided in the Dayton area for the past five years. She was a graduate of the West Campus High School Class of 1981, graduate of Lee College Class of 1994 where she obtained her L.V.N., attended the First Baptist Church of Moss Hill and was presently employed by the University of Texas Medical Branch for the Texas Department of Corrections in Dayton with five years of service. She enjoyed computers, basketball and specially spending time with her son.

Mrs. Lyrock was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather: J. C. Frye, and her maternal grandfather: John Fields. Survivors include her son: Jeremy Lyrock of Hardin, father: Jerry Frye of Arkansas, stepmother: Cindy Collins of Moss Hill, mother: Billie Cunningham of Silsbee, stepfather: Herbert Cunningham of Silsbee, brothers: J. C. Frye of Moss Hill and Ricky Cunningham and wife Alice of Silsbee, sisters: Andrea Smith and husband Clayton of Arkansas and Taffy Gore and husband Calvin of Silsbee, father of her son: Jerry Lyrock of Liberty, paternal grandmother: Marie Cowan of Arkansas, maternal grandmother: Jean Conrad of Oklahoma, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of usual floral arrangements the family requests that donations be made for a scholarship, for Jeremy Lyrock at 117 CR 2007; Liberty, TX 77575.

White

Price White, 59, of Dayton, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001 at the Liberty-Dayton Hospital in Liberty. He was born in Houston, was a longtime resident of Dayton and a retired Supervisor with Exxon after 32 years of service.

Services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, July 27, 2001 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton with Dr. Jimmie Clemmons officiating. Burial will follow at the Magnolia Park cemetery in Dayton under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

He is survive by his Wife: Jean White of Dayton and a Son: Todd White of Logansport, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 6 PM, Thursday, July 26, 2001 at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Lopez

Jose Gerardo Lule Lopez, 44, of Liberty, Texas, died Friday, July 20, 2001 in Oak Island, Texas.

Funeral Services will be held 6:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Liberty, Monday, July 23, 2001 with Father Frank Paduch officiating. Burial will follow at San Jose cemetery in Moncado, Guanajuato (Mexico).

A native of Charco Largo, Guanajuato, he had lived in Liberty for over twenty-nine years. He was a truck driver for Triangle Petroleum Services.

Jose is survived by Sons: Gabriel Lule & Danny Lule both of Liberty; Daughters: Linda Lule & Mary Lee Lule both of Liberty; Brothers: Antonio Lule, Gabriel Lule, Cayetono Lule & Jose Lule; Sisters: Emma Lule, Belen Lule, Maria Carmen Lule & Maria Luz Lule. Numerous nieces, nephews, and aunts, uncles, relatives and other friends.

Services are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis, Liberty, TX 77575.
