KILGORE - Services for R.C. "Bob" Hodges, 90, of Kilgore will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday April, 1, 1998, at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Kilgore with the Dr. Mark McClelland officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview. He died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at his residence. Mr. Hodges moved his family to Kilgore in 1941. After working with Wrightsmith Oil Co. and Western Petro Chemical, he retired in 1970. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kilgore, a charter member and first Scout Master of the First Baptist Church Scout Troup. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Hodges and Elward Hodges; and two sisters, Etta Butler and Pauline Corbin. He is survived by his wife, Hattie Lorane Hodges of Kilgore; one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Pattie Hodges of Longview; one daughter, Sherri Hodges of Houston; one sister, Gladys Lawson of Dallas; three grandchildren and spouses, Randy and Nadine Hodges of Longview, Mark and Sharla Hodges of Longview, and Kelly and Brenda Hodges of Humble; eight great-grandchildren, Matt Hodges, T.C. Hodges, Heather Hodges, Carley Hodges, Markus Hodges, all of Longview, and Jennifer Hodges, Michelle Hodges, and Danielle Hodges, all of Humble.

GILMER - Services for Lucille Jones, 84, of Karnack will be held at 2 p.m. today at Croley Funeral Chapel in Gilmer with the Rev. Floyd Manes officiating. Burial will be in Eagle Creek cemetery. Mrs. Jones died Monday in Longview. She was born May 8, 1913, in Upshur County, where she lived most of her life. She was a homemaker and a Pentecostal.

Danny Murphy

KILGORE - Services for Danny Murphy, 46, of Kilgore will be held at 4 p.m. today at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Kilgore with the Rev. Don Beebe officiating. Burial will be in Kilgore cemetery. Mr. Murphy died Saturday in Kilgore after a brief illness. Born Dec. 23, 1951, Mr. Murphy attended Kilgore schools, was an equipment operator in the oil industry and a Baptist.

Edwin Clarence Turner Sr.

HOUSTON - The Rev. Clarence Turner Sr., 83, made his peaceful journey to be with his Lord on Sunday, Mar. 29, 1988. He was born Sept. 24, 1914, in Mason, Okla. He went into the ministry in 1938, pastoring churches in Houston, Beaumont and Longview, Texas, until his retirement in 1981. He leaves a devoted and loving wife of 63 years, Myrtle Bowley Turner of Conroe. He is also survived by eight children, LaQueita and John Hamilton of San Antonio, Edwin C. Jr. and Cheryl Turner of Conroe, Winona and Willard Gray of Houston, Carolyn and Rod Anthony of Spring, Glenda and Jerry Morris of Houston, Dale and Lisa Turner of Longview, Jerry L. Turner of LaPorte and Brenda Waldo of Willis. There are 26 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and many other close family members and a host of friends. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Gregory Hamilton, Ken Hamilton, Kevin Hamilton, Edwin Turner III, Cecil Gray, Darin Anthony, Daryl Anthony and Brian Turner. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, Toby Morris, Roby Morris, Jeremy Turner, David Sparks, Patrick Sparks, Rusty Martin, Christian Waldo and Alex Turner. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, at the First Assembly of God, 1201 Hillcrest at Plantation Drive, Conroe, Texas, with the Rev. Lloyd Maddoux and the Rev. David Harwood officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Brookside Memorial Park under the direction of Brookside Funeral Home. Visitation will be today 6-8 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home, 13401 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to, The Crown of Texas Hospice, 100 I-45 North, Suite 240, Box 103, Conroe, TX, 77301.

Perry Lee Barker

GLADEWATER - Graveside services for Perry Lee Barker, 38, will be held at 2:30 p.m. today, April 30, at Gladewater Memorial Park with Victor Jordan officiating. Arrangements are by Croley Funeral Home of Gladewater. Mr. Barker died Monday, April 27, 1998, at his Longview residence. He was born on Dec. 5, 1959, in Corpus Christi and had been a resident of Longview for 15 years, moving from Gladewater. He was a graduate of Gladewater High School and a former employee of Pizza King in Longview. Mr. Barker is survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bill Tacito of Stoney Point, N.Y., and John and Susan Tacito of Longview, and one sister, Anne Caro of Corpus Christi.

Dwight Ray Baughman Jr.

KILGORE - Services for Dwight Ray "Rai" Baughman, 28, of Hallsville, formerly of Kilgore, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 1, at Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Buddy Duggins officiating. Burial will be in the Danville cemetery. Mr. Baughman died Monday, April 27, 1998. He was born June 17, 1969, in Kilgore, Texas. He attended Kilgore public schools and was a Baptist. He was a disk jockey. Mr. Baughman is survived by two children, Zachary Blaize Baughman of Nacogdoches and Raina Victoria Baughman and her mother, Susan Denise Whitmire, of Hallsville; his wife, Christina Baughman of Nacogdoches; his father, Dwight Ray Baughman of Gladewater; his mother, Jimmie L. Chapman of Gladewater; two sisters, Christine McKinney of Kilgore and Debra Word of Longview; and a brother, Bryan Baughman of Austin. The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore 6-8 p.m. today, April 30.

Lewis M. Bradford

Graveside services for Lewis M. Bradford, 81, of Glenwood Acres will be held at 2 p.m. today at Flat Creek cemetery near Linden. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Bradford died Tuesday morning at a local hospital. He was born Nov. 9, 1916, in Marietta, Texas, and had lived in the Glenwood Acres area for about 16 years, coming from Irving, Texas. He was an owner/operator in the trucking industry, a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Baptist. Mr. Bradford was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Biles, and a daughter, Jean Perry. He is survived by his wife, Doris Bradford; two sons, Douglas Bradford of Gilmer and Gerald Biles of Fort Worth; two daughters, Karen Barry of Ferris and Karla Davis of Gladewater; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Biles; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Flora Mae; and several nieces and nephews.

Billie Jeanne Hobbs Bradham

Funeral services for Billie Jeanne Hobbs Bradham, 73, of Longview will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 1, at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Keith Rothra officiating. Interment will follow in Rosewood Park cemetery. Mrs. Bradham had been a Longview resident since 1976, coming from Portland, Texas, and had lived in South Texas for 30 years prior to returning to Longview. She was born on July 24, 1924, in Austin, Texas. She was a graduate of White Oak High School, a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Bradham died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at a local hospital. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, O.P. Bradham of Longview; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy T. and Dale Stelpflug of Longview; a son and daughter-in-law, Forest Douglas and Kay Bradham of Uvalde; her grandsons, Paul Eugene Stelpflug, Thomas Douglas Stelpflug and Douglas Tate Bradham; one great-grandson, Haden Douglas Stelpflug; and two sisters, Patsy Plaschke of Longview and Betty Plaschke of Hallsville. The family has asked that memorial contributions be made in memory of Mrs. Bradham to the charity of one's choice or to the Highway 80 Rescue Mission. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

MARSHALL - Services for Max Gerald Callaway, 68, of Shreveport, La., will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Travis Street Chapel of Sullivan Funeral Home with Dr. Hollie Atkinson officiating, with burial in Colonial Gardens. Mr. Callaway, a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, died Tuesday. He retired from the Credit Bureau of Greater Shreveport. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

George Owen Dixon Sr.

GLADEWATER - Memorial services for George Owen Dixon Sr., 71, of Gladewater will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 1, in Croley Funeral Home Chapel of Gladewater with the Rev. Monte Gage and Sally King officiating. Mr. Dixon died Sunday, April 26, 1998, at his residence. Born Nov. 7, 1926, in Woodville, he was a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran and had retired from the house levelling business. Mr. Dixon is survived by nine daughters, Tyleen Wise and her husband, Edward, of Gladewater, Amanda Dixon of Gladewater, Amber Dixon of Illinois, Ginger Dixon of Ohio, and Pat Dixon, Mary Glass, Patty Coover, Cindy Sawyer and Tabby Dixon, all of Waco; four sons, George Dixon Jr. and Robert Dixon, both of Gladewater, William Dixon of Waco and Michael Dixon of Killeen; a sister, Virginia McKenzie of Waco; numerous grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Sawyer of Waco.

William James 'Bill' Falls

DAINGERFIELD - Graveside services for William James "Bill" Falls, 75, of Daingerfield will be held at 4:30 p.m. today, April 30, at the Daingerfield cemetery with the Rev. Marietta Walker officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. Mr. Falls was born Jan. 3, 1923, in Mount Pleasant. He died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, in a Mount Pleasant hospital. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during World War II. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Naples, owned and operated Falls TV Sales & Service for 40 years, was a past president of the Daingerfield Chamber of Commerce and for 30 years was a member of the Daingerfield Housing Authority. Survivors include his wife, LaVerne Falls of Daingerfield; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Diane Falls of Irving; his brother, Russell Falls of Marshall, Ark.; and his grandchildren, Jason Brown, Ryan Falls, Mitch Falls and Leslie Wright, all of Irving.

Arrangements are by Erman Smith Funeral Home. Mrs. Greer, a Methodist and a former English teacher and girls' coach, died Tuesday in College Station.

Burial will follow in Odd Fellows cemetery. Mr. Mills died Tuesday in Carthage. He married Vivian Rose Bowlin and was a member of First Baptist Church and the Breakfast Lions Club.

MARSHALL - Services for Irene Poss Power, 84, of Marshall will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 1, at the First Baptist Church of Marshall with Dr. Hollie Atkinson and the Rev. Jerry Spivey officiating. Interment will be in Algoma cemetery-North. Arrangements are directed by Sullivan Family of Funeral Directors. Mrs. Power died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, after a short illness. She was born Oct. 4, 1913, in Carthage to Leonard Joseph Poss and Ada Elise Pinson Poss. She received her education in the Timpson, Texas, public schools and as a business major at the College of Marshall. She married Earl Dair Power on Dec. 13, 1937, in Longview. He preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1983. She owned and operated the Power Grocery Store, working there from 1945 until her retirement in 1981. Mrs. Power was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marshall and its Evangel Sunday School Class. Mrs. Power was preceded in death by one brother, Lynwood J. "Billy" Poss. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, William D. "Buddy" and Diane Power of Marshall; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Gary Heath and Mary Venita "Gee Gee" and Steven Wheeler, all of Marshall; grandchildren, William Dair "Bill" Power Jr., Cherry Lynn Power Howeth, Steven Wheeler Jr. and Natalie Wheeler Post all of Marshall, Heather Heath Nava of Anniston, Ala., and Monica Heath and Leslie Spivey, both of Marshall; great-grandchildren, Shelby Power, Brook Power, Jonathan Howeth, Nikki Howeth, Dustin Howeth and Victoria Spivey, all of Marshall; her sisters and brother-in-law, Vera Avis and Will Power of Marshall and Juanita "Tot" Cassity of Marshall; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Bill Power, Mark Jackson, Steven Wheeler Jr., Jerry Power, Hal Combs and Donnie Howeth. Alternate pallbearers will be Gary Post and Sam Oats. Honorary pallbearers will be Will Power, Jack Power, Roland Green, Alonzo "Bo" Capps, Pope Fisher, Dick Fisher, Larry Fisher, Dick Hill, Bill Kalla, Irvin Power Jr., Gene Power, Harry Power and James Cassity. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today, April 30, at the Sullivan Funeral Home at 100 E. Travis St. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Building Fund or the Irene Power Scholarship Fund at Marshall Independent School District, 1305 E.
