Robert W. Nash Sr.

HOUSTON - Robert W. Nash Sr., 80, of Corsicana died April 29, 1998, in Houston. His many friends and family in East Texas, Louisiana, Katy, Houston - and everywhere that pipelines run or greens run smooth - will miss his corny jokes and good humor. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 3, in the chapel of Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bill Hodges officiating. In lieu of normal floral remembrances, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Parkinson Foundation of Harris County, 5075 Westheimer, Houston, TX 77056.

Stella Lorene Pollan

CARTHAGE - Graveside services for Stella Lorene Pollan, 86, of Carthage will be held at 4 p.m. today at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving. Visitation at Don Lipsey Funeral Home is until 10 a.m. today. Mrs. Pollan, a school teacher who retired in Irving, died Friday at her residence. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 201 S. Shelby, Carthage, TX 75633.

William Clarence Smith

CARTHAGE - Services for William Clarence Smith, 94, of Long Branch will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Don Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ray Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Long Branch cemetery. Mr. Smith, a former roughneck in the oil field and member of Long Branch Missionary Baptist Church, died Thursday. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Merle Anderson

Funeral services for Merle Anderson, 66, of Longview will be held at the graveside at 2 p.m. Monday, May 4, with Longview Masonic Lodge No. 404 conducting services. Interment will be in Rosewood Park cemetery. Rader Funeral Home of Longview is in charge of services. Mr. Anderson died Saturday, May 2, 1998, in a Longview hospital. A native of Cement, Okla., he was born Nov. 2, 1931, and had lived in and around Longview for the past 56 years. He was a driver for Groendyke Trucking and was a member of the Longview Masonic Lodge No. 404, Sharon Shrine Temple and Waco Scottish Rite. Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Anderson Baird of Gladewater; a son, David Anderson of Lake Cherokee; his granddaughters, Christi Baird, Kelli Baird and Karissa Baird, all of Gladewater, and Traci Baird of Longview; a great-grandson, Emeri Sorrells of Longview; his mother, Ruth Anderson of Longview; his brothers, Berle Anderson of Lake Cherokee and Gail Anderson and Glen Anderson, both of Longview; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends 7-9 p.m. today, May 3, at Rader Funeral Home in Longview.

Walter 'Dewey' Davis

Services for Walter Dewey Davis, 93, of Longview will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 4, at the Welch Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Byron Boyett and Wayne Perry officiating. Burial will be in Winterfield cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 p.m. today, May 3. Mr. Davis died Saturday, May 2, 1998, in a local hospital. Mr. Davis was born March 4, 1905, in Longview. He married Lois Smithpeters in 1929, and they celebrated their 69th anniversary on Feb. 16, 1998. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and retired in 1972 as a game warden with the Cherokee Water Co. Mr. Davis enjoyed hunting, fishing and the Longview Senior Citizens Center. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Lois, of Longview; his daughters and sons-in-law, Lola Mae and Clifford Parker, Virginia and Glenn Canfield and Maxine Lewis, all of Longview; a sister, Dot Toler of Longview; a brother, Howard Davis of Longview; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. The family requests memorials to the Wesley United Methodist Church, 1115 S. Mobberly Ave., Longview, TX 75602.

HENDERSON - Services for Christine Hudman, 74, of the Brachfield community will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Bryan Funeral Home Chapel with Sam Lanham officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh cemetery. Mrs. Hudman died Friday in Longview. The lifetime resident of Rusk County was a member of Pleasant Springs Presbyterian Church. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

William John Linahan Jr.

KILGORE - Graveside services for William John "Bill" Linahan Jr., 81, of Kilgore will be held Monday, May 4, at 11 a.m. at the Pirtle cemetery with the Rev. Ralph Rudy officiating. Mr. Linahan died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at his home. He retired from the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios. He is survived by his wife, Cetrue Kulak Linahan, of Kilgore; four stepchildren, Dean Gutshall of Roswell, N.M., Ann Dafoe of Ardmore, Okla., John Paul Kulak of Kilgore and Joy Russell of Bryan, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home 6-8 this evening.

Adam Robinett

Funeral services for Adam Robinett, 77, of Longview will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 4, in the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Longview with the Rev. Tom Roberson and the Rev. David Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Rosewood Park. He died Thursday, April 30, 1998, in a local hospital. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. today, May 3, at the funeral home. Mr. Robinett was born March 24, 1921, in War, W.Va., and had been a resident of Longview since 1981, moving from Richardson, Texas. He had a bachelorOs degree in mining engineering from West Virginia Tech and was a mining engineer for the North American Mining Co. He was a chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy and served in World War II from the invasion of North Africa to the signing of the Japanese peace treaty. Mr. Robinett was a member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Anne Robinett of Longview; his daughters and sons-in-law, Sharron and Larry Vestal of Longview, Nancy and John Hamlin of Parker, Colo., Joy and Bill Fambro of Marshall and Melody Robinett of Shreveport, La.; his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Debi Robinett of Garland and Jeff and Donna Robinett of Princeton, W.Va.; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grand- children; a brother, Bill Robinett of Arkansas; and a sister, Jerusha Muncy of West Virginia.

The lifelong resident of Upshur County was of the Protestant faith. He is survived by his mother, Jessie Pearl Russell of Longview.

HUGHES SPRINGS - Services for George A. Simmons, 77, of Hughes Springs will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 4, 1998, at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs with the Rev. Curtis Hall officiating. Burial will be at Hughes Springs cemetery in Hughes Springs under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home Inc. Mr. Simmons died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at Linden Municipal Hospital in Linden. Mr. Simmons was born Nov. 13, 1920, in Spur, Texas. He retired from Lone Star Steel and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during World War II, a member of Hughes Springs First United Methodist Church and a member of Hughes Springs Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Euneve Simmons of Hughes Springs; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon Simmons of Hughes Springs and Marsha and Randy Duncan of Dallas; a granddaughter, Ashley Duncan of Dallas; a brother, B.F. Simmons of Rusk, Texas; and a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Ralph Traylor of Jacksonville, Texas. Visitation is 7-9 this evening, May 3, at the funeral home.

Doris Louise Stoeckle Williams

Graveside services for Doris Stoeckle Williams, 96, of Longview will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston, under the direction of Welch Funeral Home. Mrs. Williams died Friday, May 1, 1998, at her residence. She was born Aug. 13, 1901, in Hammond, Ind. She lived in Chicago, Ill., and Michigan City, Ind., as a child. Mrs. Williams moved to Houston in 1919. She had been a resident of Longview since 1985. Mrs. Williams was a financial secretary for Woodmen of the World Insurance and Woodmen Circle Insurance Companies from 1923 until she retired in 1964. Mrs. Williams was a member of Woodmen of the World Lodge No. 4520, Sons of Herman Lodge No. 4 and Woodmen Circle No. 540. She was a Presbyterian. Mrs. Williams is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Kay Williams of Rockdale, Texas; one daughter, Shirley D. Tooke of Aurora, Colo.; her nieces and their husbands, Jean F. and T.J. Roberts of Houston and D. Joy and R.C. Hubbard of Houston; a sister-in-law, Edna P. Stoeckle of Houston; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many friends.

Burial was under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. He died Saturday morning in a local hospital. Mr. Blanton was born May 21, 1937, in Linden, (Cass County), Texas. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church on Avenue B, in Longview. He is survived by his son, Gary Lynn Blanton of Marshall; daughters and sons-in-law Mary and Jerry Waggoner of Austin, Bonnie and Pat Moody of Watagua, Texas, and Rhonda and John Culpepper of Indiana; his mother, Marie Almond of Longview; sisters and brother-in-law Oleta Vega of Midland and Clara Virginia "Jean" and Elmer Stacks of Conroe; brother and sister-in-law Donny Wayne and Brenda Blanton of Pasadena; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
