Services for Loyd Reed will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Beulah Baptist Church in Elkhart. Burial will follow in Reed’s Cemetery in Elkhart.
Visitation will be from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home in Houston.
Lou Ella McGriff
Services for Lou Ella McGriff, 105, of Houston, and formerly of Tennessee Colony, will be at noon Saturday at St. John Baptist Church of Tennessee Colony with the Rev. H.T. Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Jimmerson Cemetery.
Mrs. McGriff died Aug. 21 in Houston.
She was born in Tennessee Colony to Willis and Dora Hopkins.
Mrs. McGriff attended public school at Massey Lake and joined St. John Baptist Church at an early age. When she moved to Houston she united with Mount Olive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas McGriff; and seven children.
Mrs. McGriff is survived by daughters, Luthie Obile McCallister of Tulsa, Okla., Dora Wallace of Fort Worth, Senetta Clifton, Myrtlene Hooey and Annie Archie, all of Houston; sons, Tarter Lee McGriff, Charles L. McGriff, Calvin McGriff, all of Houston, Judge Ruben McGriff of Chicago, Elvin McGriff of Tulsa; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Greg Emerson
Services for Greg Emerson, 40, of Elkhart, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Revs. Steven Coleman and Richard Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Emerson died Saturday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 22, 1961 in San Bernadino, Calif. to Raymond Eugene and Mary Beth Treadaway Emerson.
Mr. Emerson was employed by Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Longview.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Emerson of Elkhart; daughters, Brittany Emerson of Palestine, Shelbie Emerson and Shawna Emerson, both of Elkhart; son, Shane Emerson of Elkhart; parents, Ray and Mary Emerson of Longview; sisters, Anita Carden of Bethany, Okla., Sandra Schroeder of Castle Rock, Colo., and Kara Schriefer of Longview; brother, Robert Emerson of Lufkin; and grandmother, Ruth Hilton of Oakdale, Calif.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Carr, Bill Chico, Dale Crews, Mike Durham, Dwight Franklin, Fred Lawson, Brian McKechnie, and Robert Steely.

Joseph H. Tomasso
Services for Joseph H. Tomasso, 51, of Frankston, and formerly of Pennsauken, N.J., will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of St. Celia in Pennsauken. Arrangements are under the direction of Falco, Caruso & Leonard Funeral Homes in Pennsauken. Local services are pending.
Mr. Tomasso died Sunday.
He was employed as an electrical engineer.
Mr. Tomasso is survived by his wife, Margaret “Maggie”; his mother, Rita; children, Vincent Tomasso, Andrea Kaliss, Christina Tomasso, Rocco Tomasso, Alex Tomasso, Emily Tomasso, Jennifer Hootsell and Matthew Hootsell; sister, Michelle Markovitz; and one grandchild.
Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to St. Cecilia’s Church, 4824 Camden Ave., Pennsauken, N.J., 08110, or a local animal shelter.

Mr. Crawford died today at a Palestine hospital.
Edna Staines
Services for Edna Staines, 95, of Palestine, and formerly of Athens, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Buddy Lairson Jr. and Dr. Barry Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Carroll Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Staines died Tuesday at Palestine Health Care Center.
She was born Jan. 20, 1907 in Henderson County to John W. and Anna Pearl Williams Cummings.
Mrs. Staines was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church of Dallas. She lived in Dallas for a number of years prior to coming to Palestine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin P. Staines; a daughter, Shirley Welch; sons, Sherman Staines and Martin Staines Jr.; and two grandsons, Paul Roy and Pat Pierce.
Mrs. Staines is survived by daughters, Velma Coleman of Deer Park, Marie Pierce of Houston, Ollie Cooper and Laverne Roy, both of Palestine, Betty Byrum of Farmers Branch and Linda Ammons of Carrollton; 23 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steve Staines, Gary Cooper, Tim Pierce, Richard Roy, Kenneth Welch Jr., and Jon Staines.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cary Daniels, Tim Hyde, Jack Wilmoth, Jimmy Newsome, Chris Lawler, Mike Keuer, Kenton Pierce and Jerry Pierce.

Jessie Lee Deyon
Services for Jessie Lee Deyon, 72, of Palestine, will be at noon Friday at Court Drive Church of Christ with Norvie Cottingham officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Tucker under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home.
Mrs. Deyon died Friday in Tyler.
She was born Dec. 17, 1929 in Leon County to Jesse James and Rosa Lee Johnson Gross.
Mrs. Deyon attended Green Bay School in Tucker. She was a member of Living Green Church of Christ. She lived in Galveston and while there was a member of Sunlight Baptist Church.
While in Palestine she was a member of South Union Baptist Church and later Pilgrim Hill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Deyon was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Mack Rogers; children, Deloris Deyon and Gregory Deyon; and two grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Calvin L. Deyon Sr. of Palestine; children, Carolyn Jean Price, Douglas Deyon and Valerie Cook, all of Palestine, Calvin Deyon Jr., of Dallas, Cynthia Deyon of Fort Worth and Rose Fortson of Kilgore; brother, Marcus Gross of Gulfport, Miss.; sisters, Ruth Henry and Maxine Rogers, both of Palestine; 16 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
David Joseph Vascoe Jr.
Service for David Joseph Vascoe Jr., 78, of Buffalo, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home of Buffalo with Craig Graham officiating.
Mr. Vascoe died at his home in Buffalo.
He was born Aug. 11, 1924, in Shreveport, La. to Joseph David Vascoe and Violet Emily Rains Vascoe.
Mr. Vascoe lived in Buffalo for the last 30 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during Word War II. He was a retired machinist and member of the Nazarene Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Vascoe is survived by his wife, Betty Vascoe of Buffalo; stepson, Edwin Gill of Duncan, Okla.; daughters, Connie Vascoe and Patricia Campbell, both of Houston; stepdaughter, Terry Wicks of Austin; sisters, Texie Ann Cantley and Naomi Ruth Williams, both of Vivian, La.; one grandson; and six step-grandchildren.
Suzy Ann Bayro Ward
Services for Suzy Ann Bayro Ward, 42, of Tennessee Colony, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Benny Burlison officiating. Burial will follow in the Ward Family Cemetery.
Mrs. Ward died Tuesday at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
She was born Dec. 29, 1959, in Dallas to Frank and Shirley Harper Malone.
Mrs. Ward lived most of her life in Dallas and DeSoto. She was a Baptist and was employed with the loan department of Regions Bank in Palestine.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Lynn Ward Sr. of Tennessee Colony; parents of DeSoto; daughter, Veronica Ward of Lindale; sons, Skip Bayro of South Korea, Jeremiah Ward of Tennessee Colony and Gary L. Ward Jr. of Palestine; sisters, Nancy Kruger of Ennis and Kim Small of Richardson; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gary Ward, Sonny Hill, Leslie Wardell, Bud Kruger, Harry Fincher and James Fields.

Shirley Marie Spencer
Services for Shirley Day Spencer, 68, of Dallas, and formerly of Montalba, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Providence Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Providence Cemetery in Montalba under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home.
Mrs. Spencer died Sunday at her home.
She was born Feb. 23, 1934 in Montalba to William and Samantha Thomas Day.
Mrs. Spencer attended Providence Public School and A.M. Story High School. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church and later St. Mark Baptist Church in Dallas.
She was employed by the Howard Cohen Family for 32 years.
Mrs. Spencer was preceded in death by four siblings, Bobby Ray Day, William T. Day, Charles Carl Day and Mary Leola Day.
She is survived by a daughter, Ethel Marie Roberts of Dallas; brothers, Leroy Day, Terry Day, Larry Day, Lonnie Day and Herbert Day, all of Palestine, and Alex Day and Edward Day, both of Dallas; sisters, Heron Jean Day and Ruby Benson, both of Montalba, and Minnie L. Day and Doris Earl, both of Dallas, and Merlene Day of Houston; and three grandsons.
Charlene Morehead Brown
Services for Charlene Morehead Brown, 77, of Elkhart, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church of Elkhart with the Rev. Howard Huhn officiating. Burial will follow in Guiceland Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Brown died Tuesday at Cartmell Home for the Aged.
She was born June 1, 1925, in Anderson County to Alvin and Maude Killion Morehead.
Mrs. Brown was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elkhart and United Methodist Women. She was employed with the Texas Employment Commission and worked as a beautician for many years.
She was preceded in death by son, Robin Brown; sisters, Geneva Langston and Lucille Dodson; brothers, Grady Morehead and Owen Morehead.
Mrs. Brown is survived by brother, Alton Morehead of Elkhart; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Jones, Darrel Brown, Walter Duff, Richard Spencer, Jerrel Jones, Mack Butler, Mitchell Carnes and Devoin Garrison.

Bettye L. High

Mrs. High died Sunday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 28, 1940, in Colfax, La. to Fred and Willie Dee Davis Pinkey.
Mrs. High received her primary education from Colfax Elementary School and graduated from Emmett J. Scott High School in Tyler in 1958. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Tyler and attended Evangelistic Temple in Palestine. She owned and operated Bettye’s Terrific Shop for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. High is survived by her husband, Leo High of Neches; son, Darwin B. Cain of Arlington; daughters, Janet F. Cain of Dallas and Lazonlla M. Pinchem of Arlington; brothers, Willie F. Pinkney, Donald Pinkney, Henry Pinkey and Harvey Pinkney, all of Tyler, and Billy Pinkney of Dallas; sisters, Doris McClarty, Helen Richardson, Linda Jones of Oakland, Calif., Monita McGhee, Carolyn Toliver and Patricia Byrd, of Dallas; and one granddaughter.
