GILMER - Services for Cora Tee Luster, 92, of Gilmer will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Union Chapel Baptist Church in Pittsburg with the Rev. Charles Thomas officiating.
Burial will be in Union Chapel cemetery, directed by Turner Bros. Mortuary.
Mrs. Luster died Tuesday in Gilmer.
Area survivors include two daughters, Emma Smith and Dorothy Duffey, both of Gilmer.

John L. Massingill

TROUP - John L. Massingill, 68, of Troup, a retired lieutenant colonel, U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, will be held at 4 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church in Troup with the Rev. Jon Stouffer, the Rev. George Helton and the Rev. Carl Bilderback officiating.
Burial with full military honors will be in Pinecrest cemetery, directed by Cottle Funeral Home. He died Tuesday inTyler.

Vivian Peel

GILMER - Graveside services for Vivian Peel, 78, of Gilmer will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 29, at West Mountain cemetery with the Rev. Roger Tarver officiating.
Arrangements are by Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home.
Mrs. Peel died Wednesday at Mother Frances Medical Center in Tyler. She was born Oct. 12, 1920, in Gilmer.
A graduate of East Mountain School, she retired from Rob Roy as a line foreman and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Mrs. Peel is survived by her sons, Randy Peel of Gilmer, Ronnie Peel of Dallas, Carrol Peel of Gilmer, Terrel Peel of Knoxville, Tenn., and Jimmy Peel of Arlington; a daughter, Jo Ann Ennis of Longview; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Ray of Gilmer and Ellis Ray of Winona; and two sisters, Ruth Thompson of Gilmer and Lorene Hill of Diana. Mrs. Peel was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Peel, on Dec. 5, 1985; a son, Eddie Ray Peel, in 1969; and a brother, Bruce Ray.
Visitation is 6-8 this evening at the funeral home.

Roy L. Powell

Roy L. Powell, 47, of Kilgore was born Aug. 22, 1950, in Durant, Miss.
Mr. Powell passed away on the 26th of May, 1998, at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Friday, May 29, at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Johnny Green officiating and arrangements by Lakeview Funeral Home.
Mr. Powell, a lifelong resident of Kilgore, worked for J.W. Powers for 14 years as a pipefitter.
He spent the last four years as a truck driver of an 18-wheel truck.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Powell; a son, Larry Powell; three daughters, Kathy Stone, Kay Townsend and Chris Mureno; his father, Joe F. Powell; a brother, Charles Powell; two sisters, Kathy Barker and Margaret Nicks; 12 grandchildren; one great-grand- daughter; a number of nieces and nephews; two great-nephews; and a host of friends and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother.
Visitation will be held 6-8 this evening at the funeral home.

Jerry Glen Prewitt Sr.

MARSHALL - Graveside services for Jerry Glen Prewitt Sr., 38, of Hallsville will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 29, at Eagle Creek cemetery in Harleton with the Rev. Ottis Jarrell officiating. Arrangements are by the Sullivan Family of Funeral Directors.
Mr. Prewitt died Tuesday, May 26, 1998, at Columbia Longview Regional Medical Center in Longview.
He was born May 27, 1959, in Longview to Sabird Ausbird Prewitt Sr., who was born in Silvestor, Texas, and Willie Mae Roberson Prewitt, who was born in Harrison County, Texas.
Mr. Prewitt received his education in the Hallsville, Texas, public schools.
He married Linda Birgitte Sandvik Workman Prewitt on Oct. 31, 1992, in Hallsville.
He was a commercial carpet floor installer.
Mr. Prewitt is survived by his wife, Linda Workman Prewitt of Hallsville; his children, Jerry Glen Prewitt Jr., Ashley Nichole Prewitt and Jeremey Ray Prewitt, all of Longview, and Rick Workman and Tommy Workman, both of Hallsville; his brothers and sisters, James Prewitt of Cherokee Lake, Sabird Ausbird Prewitt Jr. and Bill Prewitt, both of Longview, and Willie Mae Welty and Kathy Mixon, both of Hallsville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; a daughter, Jessica Prewitt; and two sisters, Edna Fay Colvin and Annie Mae Jones.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today, May 28, at Sullivan Funeral Home, 100 E. Travis St., in Marshall.

Deborah Smith

HUGHES SPRINGS - Services for Deborah Smith, 46, of Hughes Springs will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Pete Leslie officiating.
Burial will be in Bradfield Chapel cemetery in Daingerfield.
Mrs. Smith, a homemaker and a Baptist, died Wednesday in Cass County.
She was born June 20, 1951, in Lamesa. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Joe C. Clark

KILGORE - Joe C. Clark, 82, of Kilgore gave up his earthly existence on May 28, 1998, and now resides with his Lord and Savior.
Graveside services will be held at Danville cemetery in Kilgore at 10 a.m. Monday, June 1, 1998, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home with the Rev. Buddy Duggins officiating.
Family visitation is 4-6 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. J.C. Clark was virtually a lifelong resident of Kilgore.
He was a direct descendant of "Deaf" Smith, who was a famous Texas scout.
He was a retired newspaper distributor for the Dallas Morning News and the Longview News-Journal.
He was also co-founder of Clark Power Tool and Clark Marine in Kilgore.
He was a member of the Forest Home Baptist Church.
Mr. Clark is survived by his loving wife, Mabel; his children, Bobby Clark of Racine, Wis., David and Patty Clark of Lake Cherokee and Rosemary and J. Bagwell of Longview; his grandsons, Joe David, Randall, Patrick and Clary Clark and Jud Bagwell; his granddaughters, Mrs. Kelyn Alford, Mrs. Robin McLeish and Mrs. Deanne Bagwell Rose; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of Forest Home Baptist Church in Kilgore.

J. Mark Dowden

Services for J. Mark Dowden, 36, of Avinger will be held at 4 p.m. today, May 30, at Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russell Himer officiating.
Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Dowden passed away Wednesday, May 27, 1998.
Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Funeral Home.
Mark Dowden, born in Poplar, Mont., on Sept. 17, 1961, was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
He was a loving father and enjoyed spending time with his daughter and will be missed by his many friends.
Mr. Dowden is survived by his wife, Georgia Dowden; a daughter, Desiree Dowden; his mother, Imogene Dowden; a brother, Larry Dowden; a sister, Beverly Chatelain; many nieces and nephews; and longtime friend Bill W.

Jerry Wayne Hamm

Services for Jerry Wayne Hamm, 56, of Kilgore will be held at 2 p.m. today, May 30, at the Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel in Longview with the Rev. Michael Sanders officiating.
The family will be receiving friends noon-2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the services.
Mr. Hamm died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at Laird Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Hamm is survived by his wife, LaRay Hamm; a daughter, Paula Shafer; a son, James Hamm; his brothers, Altis Hamm, James Hamm, J.W. Hamm and Bobby Ray Hamm; his sisters, Patsy Ruth Goldston, Pearl Pitman and Jean Henshaw; a sister-in-law, Patsy Williams; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ray and Dena Gates; and four grandchildren.

James R. Ives

MARSHALL - Graveside services for James R. Ives, 69, of Marshall will be held at 2 p.m. today at Algoma cemetery-South.
Arrangements are by the Sullivan Family of Funeral Directors.
Mr. Ives died Wednesday at a Marshall hospital after an extended illness.
He was born July 7, 1928, in Linden.

Juanita Faye Mosby

HENDERSON - Services for Juanita Faye Mosby, 74, of Henderson will be held at 2 p.m. today at Bryan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Orr officiating, assisted by the Rev. Robert Jackson. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Mosby, a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, died Thursday in Tyler.
Survivors include a son and his wife, T.A. and Barbara Mosby, of Oak Hill.

Damon Scott Taylor

MARSHALL - Services for Damon Scott Taylor, 35, of Longview will be held at noon today, May 30, at the Travis Street Chapel of the Sullivan Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Paula Gold and the Rev. David Massey officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery in Woodlawn.
Mr. Taylor died Thursday, May 28, 1998, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview.
He was born April 13, 1963, in Beaumont to Raymond Otis Taylor, who was born in Marshall, and Wilma Ben Woodell Taylor, who was born in Woodlawn.
A Hallsville High School graduate, he was a Baptist and an auto mechanic.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his father and stepmother, Raymond and Ethel Taylor of Marshall; his mother, Wilma Taylor of Longview; a sister, Carrie Taylor and husband Craig Ayers of New Diana; a stepbrother, William David Walker of Essex, Md.; a stepniece, Amanda Ayers of New Diana; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Flowers are permitted, but memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Rebecca 'Becky' Turner

GILMER - Services for Rebecca "Becky" Turner, 45, of Diana will be held at 10 a.m. today, May 30, at the Walnut Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Berkley Boyd and the Rev. Ross Worley officiating. Burial will be in Ashland cemetery.
Arrangements are by Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home of Gilmer.
Mrs. Turner died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at her residence after a lengthy illness. She was born April 17, 1953, in Gilmer.
The lifetime resident of Upshur County was a telephone operator, a beautician and a member of the Walnut Creek Baptist Church.
Mrs. Turner is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Paul and Rosalie Hopkins of Longview; a daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Cesar Renteria of Diana; her parents, Bryant and Georgia Faye Cargil of Diana; a granddaughter, Kaylee Renteria of Diana; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Gary Hill and Janet and Butch Vineyard, all of Diana, and Joy and Rod Taylor of Gilmer; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Allen Barber

Services for Allen Barber of Longview, formerly of Gilmer, will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday at Citizens Funeral Home Chapel with Grady Jones, minister, officiating.
Burial will be in Barber cemetery in Tyler.
Mr. Barber, a U.S. Army veteran and a truck driver, was born in Gilmer.
He died Monday at his residence. Survivors include two daughters and one sister-in-law.
