Edith Roberta Bridges Dominy

Services for Edith Roberta Bridges Dominy, 88, of Dallas, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Neill officiating. Burial will follow in Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Dominy died Wednesday in Dallas.
She was born on Sept. 18, 1913 in Grapeland to Fred and Rosa Lee Hall Bridges.
Mrs. Dominy was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She worked in her own beauty salon, as a homemaker and then as a nurse for Palestine Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Dominy was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Dominy, in August 1955; nine siblings, Gladys Keen, Jewel Guice, Ellen Caskey, Clifford Bridges, Clarence Bridges, Raymond Bridges, Fred Bridges Jr., Lester Bridges and Carl Bridges.
She is survived by a daughter, Glenda Dominy Yancey; a son, Dwayne Dominy; two granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Thurston Bridges, David Bridges, Bobby Cunningham, Jerry Keen, Scott Carmichael and Lane Carmichael.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Covey, Dr. Curtis Jordan, Forrest Wiggins and M.C. Buck Kennedy.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Billy Joe Warren Sr.

Services for Billy Joe Warren Sr., 74, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with the Rev. Benny Burlison officiating. Burial will follow in Land of Memory Cemetery.
Mr. Warren died Thursday in Palestine.
He was born June 10, 1927 in Arkansas to Forrest and Virgie Warren.
Mr. Warren was reared in Canton and lived in Palestine since 1949. He worked as a barber for 53 years. He was a Christian and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Ann Warren, in 1991.
Mr. Warren is survived by sons, Billy Joe Warren Jr. of Palestine and Stevie Warren of Tyler; daughters, Debbie Morman, Brenda Foster, Saundra Vasquez and Sherrie Howell, all of Palestine; brothers, Edward Warren of Coppell, Alvin Warren of Euless and Elvin Warren of Tennessee; sister, Betty Sue Vowell of Euless; special friend, Blossom Smithhart of Palestine; 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jerrod Crestinger, Joseph Soreo, Eric Warren, Tim Anderson, Jack  Jackson and Jerri Kinsey.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

C.V. Hanks

Services for C.V. Hanks, 88, of Poynor, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston with Vernis Stanaland officiating. Burial will be in Poynor Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Mr. Hanks died Wednesday at a Tyler hospital.
He was born Nov. 29, 1913 in Bastrop.
Mr. Hanks was a self-employed carpenter and foreman at Shiloh Ranch. He was a member of Tyler Primative Baptist Church.
Mr. Hanks is survived by his wife, Leona Hanks of Poynor; a son, Charles Jimmy “Jim” Hanks of Poynor; daughters, Nancy Campbell and Vicky Ann Deal, both of Poynor; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ben Haynes, Jacob Haynes, Eric Hanks, Jason Smith, Jeremy Burris and Joe Barrington.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Hoyt Johnston

Funeral arrangements for Hoyt Johnston, 79, of Palestine are pending at Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Johnston died Thursday at East  Texas Medical Center in Tyler.

Joe Allen Hudgins

Services for Joe Allen Hudgins, 66, of Sioux City, Iowa, and formerly of Elkhart, are pending.
Mr. Hudgins died Saturday in Sioux City after a lengthy illness.
He was born April 16, 1936, in Nacogdoches to Walter O. and Beatrice Wedgeworth Hudgins.
Mr. Hudgins was a member of First Congregational Methodist Church of Elkhart. He had resided in Elkhart since 1974, before moving to Iowa.
He was preceded in death by eight sisters; four brothers; a son, David Allen; and grandsons, Michel Shawn and Joseph Allen.
Mr. Hudgins is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pat Hudgins of Sioux City; daughters, Deborah Thomas of Dutch Harbor, Ala. and Rhonda Coon of Sioux City; son, Kenneth Hudgins of Palestine; brothers, Alford Hudgins of Lone Star, E.F. “Slim” Hudgins of Saratoga and Frank Hudgins of Palestine; sisters, Louise Freeman of San Angelo, Clara Mittleman of Greensboro, N.C., Margie Starr of Palestine, Janie Norman of Crystal Lake and Barbara Coggin of San Antonio.

Ruby Raines Parrish

Services for Ruby Raines Parrish, 87, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Buffalo with the Revs. Rick Dees and Don  White officiating. Burial will be at Parker Cemetery in the Flo community.
Mrs. Parrish died Saturday at her residence.
She was born Aug. 17, 1914, in Buffalo to Will and Evalena Raines.
Mrs. Parrish was a member of Westwood Baptist Church in Palestine. She graduated high school in Corinth and Anderson County School of Cosmetology in Palestine. She was manager of the Dairy King in Buffalo and owner of M’Lady’s Beauty Shop in Buffalo before retirement.
Mrs. Parrish was preceded in death by her husband, A.P. “Buddy” Parish; son, A.P. Parrish; grandson, Derrick Roach; brothers, Bill Raines and Haynie Raines; and sisters, Irene  Jones and Annie Nora Wright.
She is survived by daughters, Parthena VanWey of Buffalo and Glenna Ellenburg of Palestine; sisters, Winnie Lamon of Palestine, Adeen McNiel of San Antonio, Bernice Bennett of Mexia and Ollie Kilgore of Buffalo; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kent Raines, Willard Bennett, Jack McNiel, Bryan Jones, Bobbie Binnicker and Andre Schwab.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

William B. “Bill” Edwards Sr.

Services for William B. “Bill” Edwards Sr., 67, of Buffalo, were at 2 p.m. today at Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo with the Revs. Melvin Lowe and Mary Lowe officiating. Interment followed in the family cemetery .
Mr. Edwards died Friday at his residence.
He was born Oct. 29, 1934 in Spartemburg, S.C. to Nathan Charles and Dorothy Mae Case Edwards.
Mr. Edwards was employed by Gainey Transportation Services of Grand Rapids, Mich. as a truck driver for 48 years. He came to Buffalo from Mineral Wells in 1979. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was of a non-denominational faith.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, Sheila Faye Edwards of Buffalo; sons, William B. Edwards Jr. and Keith B. Edwards, both of Roebuck, S.C., and Cassey C. Edwards of Buffalo; daughters, Cathy Hanna Harris of Minco, Okla., Samantha Waytt of Mesquite; and Hope Little of Grenada, Miss.; sisters, Juanita Codwell and Dot McGinn, both of Greenwood, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital, I-240, Memphis, Tenn.

Ida Louise Smith Kothmann

Services for Ida Louise Smith Kothmann, 79, were at 1 p.m. today at Art United Methodist Church with the Rev. Leonard Foster officiating. Burial followed at Gooch Cemetery in Mason under the direction of Mason Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kothmann died Friday after a lengthy illness.
She was born Feb. 23, 1923, in Anderson County to Joseph and Freida Smith.
Mrs. Kothmann was a Methodist, a member of Art United Methodist Church and W.S.C.S. She married Andrew Kothmann on Oct. 19, 1945 in Houston. They lived their entire married life on the ranch in the Fly Gap area.
She was preceded in death by sister, Josephine Smith Kirkland.
Mrs. Kothmann is survived by her husband, of Art; son, Kenneth Kothmann of Mason; daughters, Judy Kothmann of Abilene and Sherry Clauson of Houston; brother, Joe Smith of Houston; sisters, Florence Moseley and Mildred Moseley, both of Palestine; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Kevin Kothmann, Brad Kothmann, Randall Clauson, Harvey Zesch, Tommy Reed and Larry Moseley.
If desired, memorials may be sent to Art United Methodist Church; the Gooch Cemetery Fund; or a charity of choice.

Marie McDonald

Services for Marie McDonald, 86, of Grapeland, were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Muse Baptist Church with the Rev. Max Smith officiating. Burial followed in Muse Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Grapeland.
Mrs. McDonald died Friday at the Grapeland Nursing Center in Grapeland.
She was born Oct. 9, 1915 in Houston County to William  Jefferson  Jones and Canzada Oates Jones.
Mrs. McDonald was a member of the Sand Flat Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, V.E. McDonald, in 2000.
Mrs. McDonald is survived by daughter, Joy Batts of Grapeland; sons, C.R. Chambers of Grapeland and Jerry D. Chambers of Dobbin; stepson, Barry McDonald of Humble; sister, Ruth Wooten of Dallas; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Raymond Hardy

Services for Raymond Hardy, 67, of Palestine, were held Friday, Aug. 23, at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Revs. Robert Seago and Larry Trest officiating. Burial followed in Seamans Cemetery in Chester.
Mr. Hardy died Aug. 20 at the Hospice Home Place in Tyler.
He was born July 20, 1935, in Chester to L.V. Hardy and Helen Seamans Hardy.
Mr. Hardy was a member of Long Lake Baptist Church. He was a heavy equipment operator.
He was preceded in death by his father; and sister, Mary Gutzke.
Mr. Hardy is survived by his wife, Emma Hardy of Palestine; mother, Helen Seamans Hardy of Palestine; daughter, Darlene Thornton of Kilgore; sons, Charles R. “Chuck” Hardy Jr. of Tennessee Colony and Mike Hardy of Crockett; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers were the Rev. David Taylor, Harold Scales, Don Grant, Johnny Kluth, Wilburn Neal and Sonny Guess.
Honorary pallbearers were Brent Hardy and Keith Thornton.

Morris Jordan “Bud” Sammons

Services for Morris Jordan “Bud” Sammons, 90, of Palestine will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with the Revs. Jay Abernathy and Charles Grasty officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Park.
Mr. Sammons died Friday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 1, 1912 in Brushy Creek to Sidney Phillip Sammons and Hettie Quick Sammons.
Mr. Sammons was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the National Retired Civil Service Employee Association. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Before retiring he was a federal meat inspector.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Clarice Martin, Mammie Jo Harmon and Frances Mead; and four brothers, F.E. Sammons, Eli Sammons, Willis Sammons and Lawrence Sammons.
Mr. Sammons is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mattie Sue Sammons of Palestine; son, Morris Jay Sammons of Lexington, Ky.; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Guinn Sammons, Bud Martin, Thurman Gibson, Mike Williams, Jack Smith and Troy Clark.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Katherine Hartrick Mollard

Services for Katherine Hartrick Mollard, 97, of Palestine will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Alan Van Hooser officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park.
Mrs. Mollard died Saturday at Faith Memorial Nursing Home in Pasadena.
She was born Aug. 20, 1905 in Bell County to Thomas Newton and Sarah Catherine McFarland Hartrick.
Mrs. Mollard was a time keeper for Missouri Pacific Railroad. She was a member of the Westwood United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star No. 325.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlie Wyatt, in 2000; and a sister, Myrtle Southerland.
Mrs. Mollard is survived by son, Thomas E. Griffith of Sugar Land; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Condolence calls will be received from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mabel Ezell Hagood

Mabel Ezell Hagood, 79, of Clovis,  Calif., and formerly of Montalba, died Aug. 11 at her home in California after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Palestine on Nov. 15, 1922, to A.H. Ezell and Mittie Ezell of Montalba.
Mrs. Hagood graduated from Palestine High School. She worked for many years as an admitting clerk at Palestine Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Opal Malone and Ona Mae Thompson, both of Montalba; and brothers, H.M. Ezell of Pickton, and Alvin Ezell of Richardson.
Mrs. Hagood is survived by a sister, Betty Parow of Arlington; son, Clyde Hagood Sr. of Sacramento,  Calif.; daughters, Mary Hagood of Clovis and Nancy Hagood of Palestine; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Easter Morrow

Funeral arrangements for Easter Morrow, 79, of Palestine, are pending at Emanuel Funeral Home.
Mrs. Morrow died Friday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

D.W. Smart

Funeral arrangements for D.W. Smart, 77, of Ben Wheeler, and formerly of Grapeland, are pending at Bailey & Foster, Grapeland.
Mr. Smart died Sunday at Cozby-Germany Hospital in Grand Saline.
