Clarence N. Conaway

Services for Clarence N. Conaway, 69, of Flint, and formerly of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston with the Rev. Jerry Stanger officiating. Burial will be in Frankston City Cemetery.
Mr. Conaway died Monday at his home.
He was born Nov. 8, 1933 in Elmwood. He retired from Glass Containers of Palestine after 35 years and recently was employed at T.E. Con Water Service in Lake Palestine.
Mr. Conaway attended Berryville Community Church.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Margaret Conaway of Flint; son, the Rev. Harold W. Conaway of Kingsland; daughter, Deborah Rivers of Lake Palestine; 10 siblings, including June Clakely of Noonday, Laverne Harding of Palestine, Linda Pickrell of Quannah and Bobbie Hilton of Palestine; and three granddaughters.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be employees of T.E. Con Water Service.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Rosa Estelle McLaughlin

Services for Rosa Estelle McLaughlin, 91, of Buffalo, were at 2 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Home in Buffalo with Craig Graham officiating. Burial followed in North Creek Cemetery in Flo.
Mrs. McLaughlin died Sunday at Greenbrier Nursing Home in Palestine.
She was born Sept. 22, 1911 in Lufkin.
Mrs. McLaughlin was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Mrs. McLaughlin is survived by sons, Jerry Henley of Oakwood, Everett Henley of Round Mountain and Billy Joe Henley of Benbrook; brother, Woodrow Bynum of Houston; sister, Rachel Barber of Houston; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Charles Henley Jr., Ed Henley, Buddy Henley, Lanny Hamley, Bill Henley Jr. and Everett Henley.

Johnnie Tillery

Services for Johnnie Tillery, 66, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Roselawn Park with Barry Roberts officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Tillery died Tuesday at Cartmell Home for Aged.
She was born May 16, 1936 in Cherokee County to Fred and Annie Bell Hammons Boykin.
Mrs. Tillery was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Roy Tillery in 1998; sisters, Lela Pierson and Christine Newsome; and a brother, Ernest Boykin.
Mrs. Tillery is survived by sons, Micahel R. Tillery of Palestine and Gaylon L. Tillery of Euless; sister, Bradis Heifner of Palestine; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Condolences will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Gladys Ferreira

Services for Gladys Ferreira, 84, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton. Burial will be in Rutledge Cemetery in Poteet.
Mrs. Ferreira died Monday in Palestine.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Strahan; and her second husband, John L. Ferreira.
Mrs. Ferreira is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Louise Blackshear of Frankston; sons, Thomas David Strahan of Levelland and Samuel Wayne Strahan of Fort Worth; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Olive Gibson

Funeral arrangements for Olive Gibson, 97, of Palestine, are pending at Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Gibson died this morning at Cartmell Home for Aged.

Arnold Kale

Funeral arrangements for Arnold Kale, 73, of Palestine, are pending at Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Kale died Tuesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

Franklin Johnnie Motl

Services for Franklin Johnnie Motl, 73, of Buffalo, were held in private on Tuesday at Brushy Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Don  White officiating. Burial was in Brushy Creek Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Buffalo.
Mr. Motl died Monday at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
He was born May 16, 1929 in Seaton to Jerry Motl and Albina Vasek.
Mr. Motl was a self-employed salesman of business machinery. He was a member of Stewart Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Louise Reznicek Motl of Buffalo; sons, William Motl of Porter and Gary Motl of Kingwood; daughter, Lisa Ware of Jamestown, N.C.; brother, Julius Motl of Inez; sister, Lilliam Evelyn Dornhoefer of Temple; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Jesse Nicholson

Services for Jesse Nicholson, 82, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, at Westwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Dees officiating. Burial will be in Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mr. Nicholson died Tuesday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 12, 1920 in Palestine to Butler and Georgia Neel Nicholson.
Mr. Nicholson was a life-long resident of Palestine. He was a 50-year member of Westwood Baptist Church. He retired in 1982 from Glass Containers after 31 years of service.
The Westwood High School baseball field, Nicholson field, is named in his honor.
Mr. Nicholson served four years in the U.S. Combat Engineers, serving in Canada and Europe from 1941-45.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dean Leflett Nicholson of Palestine; son, Dan Nicholson of Kilgore; daughter, Sharon Main of Deer Park; brother, James Nicholson of Palestine; and four granddaughters.
Pallbearers will be Herbert Trussell, Jerry Don Sims, John Hobson, Ronnie Wooten, Alfred Corona, Jimmy Ray Odom and Billy Fred Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Sims, Paul Sims, E.J. Bozeman, Shane  Jones and all the coaching staff and athletes at Westwood High School.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Westwood Baptist Church building fund.

Edward Cecil Judd

Services for Edward Cecil Judd, 97, of the Pert community, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Brushy Creek United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Krohn officiating. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Mesa, Ariz.
Mr. Judd died Saturday at Cartmell Home for the Aged.
He was born Sept. 21, 1905, in Cheboygan, Mich. to Frank Elmo Judd and Anna Grace Langmaid.
Mr. Judd had resided in the Pert community for the past three years. He graduated from Cheboygan High School in 1923, lead the Maggie Judd Orchestra during the ‘30s, and was employed by the Pontiac Production Plant during World War II. He married Dorothy Frances Riggs in January 1930 and moved to northern California in 1948. There he was employed in sales by Mort Brown Pontiac, then Parker Robb Chevrolet in Walnut Creek until establishing Triangle Auto Sales in Antioch,  Calif. in 1966. He moved to Mesa, Ariz. in 1978 and to Palestine in 1999. He was a founding member of the Walnut Creek BPOE.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years; son, Stuart Allen; and eight brothers.
Mr. Judd is survived by sons, Steven Edward of Cordova, Tenn. and Wallace Michael of Silverton, Ore.; daughter, Suzanne Elrod of Pert; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, P.O. Box 301, Maryknoll, N.Y. 10545; the Rosary Shrine of Saint Jude Dominican Friars, 501 Sixth St. SW,  Washington, D.C. 20024; or to the charity of choice.

Elton C. Stone

Services for Elton C. Stone, 83, of Kingsland, and formerly of Fairfield, were at 2 p.m. today at Capps Memorial Chapel. Burial followed at Fairfield Cemetery.
Mr. Stone died Sunday in Kingsland.
He was born May 7, 1919 in Hico to David and Genoa Stone.
Mr. Stone worked as a water well driller. He was a member of Fairfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5872.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Rowland Stone.
Mr. Stone is survived by sons, Carl Stone of Mansfield, Denny Stone of Las Vegas, Nev. and Dennis Stone of Gilbert, Ariz.; daughter, Nancy Spencer of Kingsland; brother, Vance Stone of Fort Smith, Ark.; sisters, Maxine Wylie of Durrant, Okla. and Lawanna Thomas of Burleson; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Charles Nicholson, George Green, Rene Cruz, Don Beene, Robert Coleman and James Gunter.

Angel Nicole Stephens

Services for Angel Nicole Stephens, 4 months, of Pasadena were at 1 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rosemary Mathews officiating. Burial followed at Union Cemetery in Fairfield.
The infant died Jan. 23 in Pasadena.
She was born Sept. 19, 2002 in The Woodlands to Michael and Desira Stephens.
The infant is survived by her parents of Pasadena; brother, Raven Glynn of Pasadena; grandparents, Woody and Jennifer Burden of Pasadena; great-grandparents, Dale and Gene Williams of Donie; and great-great-grandparents, Maxine Burden of La Porte and Bill Burden of New Caney.

Floyd Tool Jr.

Funeral arrangements for Floyd Tool Jr., 58, of Palestine are pending at Herrington/Land of Memory.
Mr. Tool died Saturday in a Fort Worth hospital after a lengthy illness.

Wesley Vineyard

Funeral arrangements for Wesley Vineyard, 87, of Troup, and formerly of Palestine, are pending at Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Vineyard died Tuesday at Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Jacksonville.

Lora Knox

Funeral arrangements for Lora Knox, 92, of Palestine are pending at Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Knox died Tuesday afternoon at Cartmell Home for the Aged.

Littie R. Baker

Services for Littie R. Baker, 88, of Houston, and formerly of Centerville, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Hopewell Baptist Church in Centerville. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home, Crockett.
Mrs. Baker died Monday in Houston.

Lefalia “Penny” Mims

Services for Lefalia “Penny” Mims, 89, of Fairfield will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Zion Baptist Church on Post Oak Road. Burial will follow in Post Oak Cemetery under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home, Teague.
Mrs. Mims died Saturday in the Teague Nursing Home.

Alex Q. Day

Services for Alex Q. Day, 64, of Dallas, and formerly of Montalba, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Providence Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery in Montalba.
Mr. Day died Friday in Dallas.

Ruby Jo Durham

Funeral arrangements for Ruby Jo Durham, 78, of Fairfield are pending at Emanuel Funeral Home in Teague.
Mrs. Durham died Tuesday morning at East  Texas Medical Center in Fairfield.

Glenn W. Phillips

Services for Glenn W. Phillips, 46, of Fairfield, will be at 4 p.m. today at Capps Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Leonard Manning officiating. Cremation will follow at Fairway Crematory in Van.
Mr. Phillips died Friday in Fairfield.
He was born Oct. 14, 1955 in Houston.
Mr. Phillips was a salesman for S&W Co. He was a Protestant.
He is survived by his wife, Deklann Kilough Phillips of Fairfield; daughter, Rebecca Ann Busby of Wortham; son, Jason Lee Monneyhan of Fairfield; his mother, Joy Phillips of Tyler; brother, Lester F. Phillips of Las Vegas; sisters, Ozell Hubbard of Tyler and Patricia Phillips of  Texas; and two grandchildren.

Melvin Lacy
