William Arthur “Pop” Coker

Services for William Arthur “Pop” Coker, 84, of Elkhart will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Musick officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Coker died Friday night at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

He was born March 15, 1918 in Anderson County to Morgan Coker and Kate Kiser Coker.

Mr. Coker was a member of the Salmon Baptist Church. Before retiring, he worked as a truck driver for Hable & Sons Construction.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Black; and brother, Horace Coker.
Mr. Coker is survived by his wife, Marjorie Coker of Elkhart; son, Bobby Coker of Maydelle and Elkhart; sisters, Bernice Laster of Elkhart and Ethel Reynolds of Crockett; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; one stepdaughter; two stepsons; and numerous adopted children and grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be L.C. Langston, Harold Langston, Josh Price, Brandon Price, Hugho Valenica and Thomas Beltrom.
Pallbearer will be Lucas Valencia.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ed Judd

Funeral arrangements for Ed Judd, 84, of Palestine are pending at Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Judd died early Saturday morning at Cartmell Home for Aged.

Mark Edwin Gaudin

Funeral arrangements for Mark Edwin Gaudin, 30, are pending at Emanuel Funeral Home.

Mr. Gaudin died Saturday in Palestine.

Dionne D. Swanson

Funeral arrangements for Dionne D. Swanson, 31, of Palestine are pending at Emanuel Funeral Home.

Ms. Swanson died Saturday at East  Texas Medical Center in Tyler.

Sammy Oliver Jr.

Funeral arrangements for Sammy Oliver Jr. 38, of Jacksonville are pending at Emanuel Funeral Home.

Mr. Oliver died Saturday at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.

Grover C. Luce

Services for Grover C. Luce, 94, of Grapeland, will be at 2 p.m. today at Ephusus Baptist Church with the Revs. Jim Bob Gunnels, David Harkins, Derrek Engeler and Carl McComb officiating. Burial will follow in McCarter Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Grapeland.

Mr. Luce died Thursday at East  Texas Medical Center in Crockett.

He was born April 16, 1908, in Houston County to Thomas Edgar and Mary Olive Wall Luce.

Mr. Luce was a member of Ephusus Baptist Church and a farmer and rancher.
He was preceded in death by daughters, Essie Hughes and Wawease Catron; and son, Tommy Luce.

Mr. Luce is survived by his wife, Mary Luce of Grapeland; daughter, Faye Nell Tunstall of Palestine; son, G.C. Luce Jr. of Grapeland; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Lee Catron, Michael Hughes, Glen Tunstall, Larry Luce, Billy Joe Luce and Rance Luce.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

Emery Lee Cherry

Services for Emery Lee Cherry, 76, of Humble, formerly of Caldwell, were held Saturday at Capps Memorial Chapel in Fairfield with the Rev. Ed Ridge officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery in Kirvin under the direction of Capps Memorial Chapel, Fairfield.
Mr. Cherry died Friday in Fairfield.
He was born May 9, 1926 in Valley Mills to Homer Wyatt Cherry and Addie Cummings Cherry.
Mr. Cherry was a truck driver and a member of the VFW in Humble.
He was a Methodist and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Cherry was preceded in death by his wife, Nathiely Christine Cherry.
He is survived by brothers, Otis Cherry of San Marcos; Robert Paul Cherry of Alvin and Homer Dwight Cherry of Wortham; and sister, Martha Nell Cannon of Fairfield.

Ada Lea Yager

Services for Ada Lea Yager, 93, of Teague, formerly of Grapevine, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Keenan Cemetery in Farmers Branch with the Rev. Don Suits officiating. Burial will be in Keenan Cemetery under the direction of Capps Memorial Chapel, Fairfield.
Mrs. Yager died Saturday at her residence.
She was born Oct. 2, 1909, in Luna to Richard and Emma Cooper Monk.
Mrs. Yager was a seamstress for Simmons Mattress Co. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Grapevine. She lived in Teague for five years, leaving in Grapevine most of her life.
Mrs. Yager was preceded in death by her husband, William Guy Yager; and two daughters.
She is survived by son, Wayne Yager of Teague; sister, Eloise Nealy of Flower Mound; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Alex Day

Funeral arrangements for Alex Day, 64, of Dallas and formerly of Montalba, are pending at Emanuel Funeral Home.
Mr. Day died Friday in Dallas.

LaFalia Mims

Funeral arrangements for LaFalia Mims, 89, of Fairfield, are pending at Emanuel Funeral Home, Teague.
Mrs. Mims died Saturday evening at Teague Nursing Home.

Geneva Kimbrough
Services for Geneva Kimbrough, 86, Kansas City, Kan. were held Thursday at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Kansas City with the Rev. R.C. Higgs officiating. Interment followed at Highland Park in Kansas City. Arrangements were under the direction of Thatcher’s Funeral Home Inc. of Kansas City.
Mrs. Kimbrough died Feb. 16.
She was born Oct. 22, 1915 in Montalba to St. Mark Brown and Karooshia Day.
Mrs. Kimbrough was educated in Montalba public schools. She resided in the Kansas City area for 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Kimbrough; son, William Shaw; grandson, Derrick Esaw; three sisters and seven brothers.
Mrs. Kimbrough is survived by daughter, Sylverlene Esaw of Gladstone, Mo.; brother, Archie Brown of Palestine; sister, Patsy Ruth Brown-Yarbrough of Palestine; one granddaughter and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were laymen of Bethel Baptist Church.

Jesse Franklin
Services for Jesse Franklin, 65, of Trinity, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lone Star Missionary Baptist Church of Trinity with the Rev. Douglas DeBose officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Community Cemetery under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home of Crockett.
Mr. Franklin died Thursday at Methodist Hospital in Houston.
He was born April 24, 1936, in Trinity to Jesse Franklin Sr. and Johnnie M. McGee Franklin.
Mr. Franklin was a member of Harris Chapel CME Church. He graduated from Trinity High School in 1956. His college education included studies in crime and criminology, constitutional law for police, rules of criminal evidence, criminal trial procedures, psychology, sociology and community corrections. His professional development included training in technical writing, communications management, human resources management, and cultural diversity training for managers.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1976, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a Vietnam veteran and rescue helicopter aircrew member. His military decorations included the Distinguished Flying Cross and nine Air Medals. His work experience included: Institutional parole officer, parole analyst, administrative assistant to director, technical programs, institutional services division, program coordinator, community services division,  Texas Board of Pardons and Parole, program coordinator UTMB/TDCJ Physically Disabled Offender Program.
Mr. Franklin’s past community and civic involvement include service as a city councilman in Trinity; director and president of Peninsula Chamber of Commerce; Trinity Lions Club; board member of Trinity Memorial Hospital District; Trinity Senior Citizens Nutrition Center building committee; Trinity High School building committee; president of Trinity Thoroughbred Scholarship Fund; Trinity ISD Facility Planning Committee member; moderator of Black Veterans Association of Trinity; vice president of Boys and Girls Club of Trinity; member of Site-based Planning Committee for Lansberry Elementary; Trinity County reserve deputy sheriff.
He also was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and American Corrections Health Services Association.
Mr. Franklin was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Dorothy J. Perkins Franklin of Trinity; sons, Michael Franklin of Spring Lake, N.C., Patrick Franklin of Killeen and Johnny English of Trinity; daughter, Cristina Gonzales of San Antonio; stepmother, Samaria H. Franklin of Houston; brother, Keith Bowers of Houston; and 12 grandchildren.

Archie Raines
Funeral arrangements for Archie Raines, 89, of Palestine, are pending at Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Raines died this morning at East  Texas Medical Center in Tyler.

Patricia Ann Phillips

Services for Patricia Ann Phillips, 49, of Buffalo, will be at 11 a.m. today at First St. Holland Baptist Church in Buffalo. Burial will follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Joseph Brown officiating. Emanuel Funeral Home No. 2 of Teague is in charge of services.
Mrs. Phillips died Sunday at her residence.
She was born July 4, 1952, in Buffalo to Lester and Helen Smith Phillips.
Mrs. Phillips received her education from the G.B. Bennett High School. She attended First St. Holland Baptist Church. She was employed as a cook at the Pitt Grill in Buffalo.
She is survived by daughter, Nicole L. Phillips of Palestine; son, Marcus Allen Phillips of Dallas; mother, Helen Phillips of Buffalo; brothers, Ray Phillips of Buffalo, John Henry Phillips of Houston, Marvin Phillips of Commerce, Timmie Phillips of Worchester, Mass. and Fredrick Smith of Buffalo; sisters, Shirley Jean Lacy of Buffalo, Joyce Ann Phillips of Buffalo, Mary Helen Phillips of Centerville and Brenda Kaye Phillips of Buffalo.

Eli Duncan Hart

Services for Eli Duncan Hart, 95, of Woodville will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Refuge Cemetery with the Rev. Riley Burran officiating. military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Air Force from Barksdale Air Force Base. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster in Grapeland.
Mr. Hart died Thursday at Tyler County Hospital in Woodville.
He was born March 3, 1907 in Crockett to Joseph Warren and Mary Ann Blue Hart.
Mr. Hart was retired from the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, and four brothers.
Mr. Hart is survived by his wife, Elene Hart of Woodville; a daughter, Teresa Walley of Woodville; son, Phil Hart of Doucette; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Alan Dorsey, John Dorsey, Rodger Walley, John Albert Isget and Clay Hart.

L.T. Williams

Services for L.T. Williams, 84, of Neches will be at 2 p.m. today at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Flint Hill Cemetery in Neches.
Mr. Williams died Wednesday at Dogwood Trails Advanced Care Center.
He was born April 20, 1917 in Neches to Fletcher and Sarah Ruth Williams.
Mr. Williams was educated at Flint Hill School and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He received an honorary discharge. He worked construction for the state highway department.
Mr. Williams was a member of Earle’s Chapel Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Berniece Williams; and sister, Myrtle Johnson.
Mr. Williams is survived by daughter, Ann Williams of Neches, stepdaughters, Alice F. Golightly and Bettie Lockridge, both of Levelland, Clara Young of Midland and Helen Martin of San Antonio; son, John Williams of Midland; brothers, Richard Williams of Houston and Hiawatha Williams of Long Beach,  Calif.; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be Charles Anderson, Larry Jackson, Charles Johnson, Larry Lofton and Cornelius Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be officers of Earle’s Chapel Church.
