Thomas Shelton Ridings
Services for Thomas Shelton Ridings, 67, of Elkhart, will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at New Haven Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Butch Grant officiating.
Mr. Ridings died early Tuesday morning at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.
He was cremated.
Mr. Ridings was born March 3, 1935, in Oakwood to Thomas and Rachel Ridings.
He was a farmer and rancher. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Ridings was preceded in death by his parents; son, Danny Shelton Ridings in 1968; and sister, Dolly Smith in 1982.
He is survived by son, Andrew Ridings of Elkhart; stepdaughters, Betty Sousy and Audry Carr, both of Palestine, and Rose Benton of Elkhart; stepson, Howard Voyles of Palestine; sisters, Mary Ridings of Elkhart and Rachel Crenshaw of Tomball; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Wendell McKinley Hogan
Services for Wendell McKinley Hogan, 60, of Fort Worth and formerly of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bethel AME Church in Palestine with Beatrice Boone officiating. Burial will follow at Jerusalem Cemetery under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Home.
Mr. Hogan died Monday in Fort Worth.
He was born March 6, 1942, in Palestine to Allen D. Hogan and Valleda Barrett Hogan.
Mr. Hogan attended Neches and Fort Worth public schools. He was a member of Mount Comfort AME Church. He married Clarice Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and a sister.
Mr. Hogan is survived by daughter, Valleda A. Fears; son, Marcus Hogan; sisters, Anthonette D. Daniel, Cessely D. Sanders and Beatrice E. Boone, all of Fort Worth; stepsisters, Lucille Easley of Dallas, Helen Brown and Patsy Butler, both of Fort Worth; brother, Titus Larkin of Corsicana; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Georgia Anna Marshall
Services for Georgia Anna Marshall, 90, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy G. Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Marshall died Dec. 7 at Greenbrier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 5, 1912, in Palestine to George and Lillie Ann Porter Pinson.
Mrs. Marshall attended New Chapel School and was a member of Brown Springs Baptist Church. She later united with Antioch Baptist Church were she served with Mission No. 1.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Marshall; sons, Leon Coleman and Willie James Marshall; sisters, Mae Bell Walker and Lou Rhimes; brothers, Hubbard Callier, Dexter Miller, Dan Pinson, Walter Pinson and Otto Pinson.
Mrs. Marshall is survived by her sons, George Eddie Barrett Sr. of Dallas and Mark Wayne Marshall of Palestine; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jimmie Chatman, Carlos Hunt, Calvin Jamerson, Gary Marshall, Charles Miller and Samuel Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be officers of Antioch Baptist Church.
Grover C. Luce

Raymond Jeffcoat
Services for Raymond Lee Jeffcoat, 61, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Herrington/Land of Memory Chapel with the Rev. Lyle Huntress officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Jeffcoat died Friday at his home.
He was born Feb. 12, 1941 in Palestine to Alton Ray Jeffcoat and Mary Ann Berryhill Jeffcoat.
Mr. Jeffcoat was a retired truck driver who lived most of his life in Palestine. He was a Baptist and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Johnny Jeffcoat and Kenny Jeffcoat.
Mr. Jeffcoat is survived by his wife, Lou Jeffcoat of Palestine; son, Raymond Lee Jeffcoat Jr. of Florence, Miss.; daughter, Kelly Roman of Palestine; brother, Alvin Jeffcoat of Cold Springs; sisters, Doris Corpus and Jean McCally, both of Palestine; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Britt Raner, Glenn Fontenot, John Corpus, Maurice Green, Cory Green and Mike Hardgrave.

Mary Parker
Services for Mary Parker, 80, of Elkhart, will be at 3 p.m. today in Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Lyle Huntress officiating. Burial will follow in Myrtle Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Parker died Friday at the Hospice Home Place in Tyler.
She was born Aug. 6, 1921 in Elkhart to Alvy Cason Pierson and Nannie Lee Helm Pierson.
Mrs. Parker was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Parker, in 1980; three sisters, Addie Curry, Gladys Axum and Lillian Elmore; and brothers, Shelby Pierson, Lina Pierson and Calvin Pierson.
Mrs. Parker is survived by a daughter, Shirley Carter of Palestine; son, David Larry Parker of Elkhart; sister, Irma Duitch of Tyler; brothers, Wayne Pierson of Elkhart, Charles Pierson of Grapeland and Carroll Pierson of McKinney; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Gene Carter, Kevin Chambers, Kirk Chambers, Edward Dempsey, Wendel Pierson and Doris Pierson.
Guinevere Stone Chote

Mrs. Chote died Friday at the Spring Season of Elkhart.
She was born Feb. 12, 1932 in Anderson County to Jack Stone and Jessie Mae Ives Stone.
Mrs. Chote was a member of the Church of Christ and was a restaurant owner in Palestine and Elkhart.
She is survived by her mother, Jessie Mae Galyean of Palestine; a son, Michael Lynn Rogers of Slocum; sisters, Grace Newman of Mineola and Linda Kay Lindsey of Irving; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Ken Monk, Keith Monk, Charlie Toth and Kal Monk.
E.J. Knight

Ruby Morris Dunlap
Services for Ruby Morris Dunlap, 90, formerly of Palestine, will be held at the Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home in Cleburne at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in the Rio Vista Cemetery.
Mrs. Dunlap died Saturday in Cleburne.
She was born Nov. 11, 1911 to Fount Lee and Lena M. Morris.
Mrs. Dunlap was preceded in death by her husband C.D. “Dock” Dunlap; sister, Ruth Morris Harris; and brother, Rufus H. Morris.
She is survived by a sister, Vallie Mae Godfrey of Austin; son, Morris Lively of Palestine; daughter, Shirley Lively Milner of Austin; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Norma Virginia Waldon

Jose Luis Garcia
Services for Jose Luis Garcia, 29, of Buffalo were held today at Blessed Kateri Roman Catholic Church in Buffalo with the Rev. Theodore F. Rydelek officiating. Burial followed at Buffalo Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Buffalo.
Mr. Garcia died Friday in Emory.
He was born Nov. 20, 1972, in Torreon Cohuila, Mexico. He lived in Buffalo for 25 years and was employed by Pate & Pate Construction Company as a construction foreman.
Mr. Garcia is survived by his wife, Cindy Garcia of Buffalo; daughter Bettnie Yari Garcia of Buffalo; parents, Maricela and Otilio Garcia of Buffalo; brother, Rene Garcia of Buffalo; and sister, Cindy Garcia of Buffalo.
Pallbearers were Rene Garcia, Alex Montano, Joel Montano, Fredrick Montano, Arnulfo Montano and Reggie Hayes.
Robert Lawrence Holt
Services for Robert Lawrence Holt, 63, of Sommerville, and formerly of Palestine, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mr. Holt died Saturday at his residence.
He was born April 12, 1938, in Beaumont to William Soloman Holt and Nina Bell Randall Holt.
Mr. Holt was a retired truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Holt, in July 1994.
Mr. Holt is survived by son, Robbie Holt; one daughter; and brothers, Billy Holt and Cal Holt.
Ruth Pearl Meek
Services for Ruth Pearl Meek, 73, of Buffalo, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Huntsville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Holguin officiating. Burial will follow at Gourd Creek Cemetery in New Waverly.
Mrs. Meek died Saturday in Palestine.
She was born Dec. 7, 1928, in New Waverly to Precley M. and Delia (McMillan) Sims.
Mrs. Meek was preceded in death by son, Curtis Edward Meek; and great-grandson, Christian Bynum.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Henry Meek of Buffalo; daughters, Delores Meek Bynum and Brenda Meek Schaedler, both of Buffalo; brothers, Rueben M. Sims, David L. Sims and Fred W. Sims; sister, Wanda Sims Primrose; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
