Mrs. Guadalupe Almaraz, 82, passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999 at a Laredo local hospital.
She was born in Colima, Mexico.
Services were held at San Agustin Catholic Church, Monday, Dec. 27, 1999 at 11 a.m.
Interment was in the City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Daniel Castillo, Frank Almaraz, Felix Ricardo Perez, Alejandro Perez, Gabriel Garcia and Hilario Dimas Jr.
Arrangements were under the direction of Buitron Funeral Home, 4502 Thomas Ave.
Mrs. Margarita G. Rodriguez
Mrs. Margarita G. Rodriguez, 83, passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999 in Laredo. She was born in Dilley, Texas.
Services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Monday, Dec. 27, 1999 at 8:30 a.m.
Interment was in the City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joe McWilliams, Peter McWilliams, Jan McWilliams, Kevin McWilliams, Bryan Gillentine and Johnny Palacios.
Arrangements were under the direction of Buitron Funeral Homes, 4502 Thomas Ave.
Sofia Silvia Gallegos
Sofia Silvia Gallegos, 73, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999 in California.
She is preceded in death in death by Venes Crabtree, Inez Silva (Luis) De Luna, Angelita Silva (Jorge) Sanchez, Julia Silva (Rafael) Ramos, Beatriz Silva (Manuel) Rodriguez, brother-in-law, Silvestre Valdez; parents, Hermergildo and Sofia Silva.
Mrs. Gallegos is survived by her daughters, Moriama G. (Julio) Montenegro, Sofia G. (Ernesto) Ortiz, San Juanita G. (Luis M.) Reyes., Siomara G. (Rene) Palacios, Maria De Lourdes G. (Fernando) Gallegos, Joyce C. La Fuente; sister, Ofelia Silva Valdez; 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; ex-husband, Jorge Gallegos; nieces and nephews and a lot of friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Nieto Dickey and Lopez Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999. Procession will depart at 10:30 a.m. to San Jose Church. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow to the Catholic Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nieto Dickey and Lopez Funeral Directors, 802 Coke.

Thelma Stockbridge Paez, 94, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999 in Landsing, Michigan.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Nieto Dickey and Lopez Funeral Home with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999. Procession will depart funeral home at 8:15 a.m. to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m.
Interment will follow to the Catholic Cemetery.

Vicente Castro, 83, passed away Friday, Dec. 24, 1999 in Laredo.
He was born in Taylor, TX.
A rosary was recited Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999 at 7 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation was from 4 to 9 p.m.
Services were held Monday, Dec. 27, 1999 at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Mass began at 10 a.m.
Interment followed in the Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Alfredo Castro Jr., Romeo Lozano II, Jesus Castro, Fidel Castro, Fabian Castro and Manuel Levya III.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hillside Funeral Home, Brad Jackson, Director.
Pedro “Peter” Treviño III
Pedro “Peter” Treviño III, 27, passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999 at a local hospital.
Peter graduated from J. W. Nixon High School in 1991. His wife will keep him in her heart as her loving husband and his family as a loving son and brother. Peter was a young man who was a very independent person who was able to achieve all his goals to this day.
He is preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Anita L. Aldaco and his uncles, Anastacio Aguilar, Leonardo Aguilar and Jose Maria Aguilar.
Peter is survived by his wife, Rachel Trevino of Laredo; by his father, Pedro Trevino Jr.; his mother, Virginia M. Aguilar; his sister, Rebecca (Rodolfo) Quiroz; his grandparents, Pedro (Juvencia) Aguilar; his parents-in-law, Arcadio (Georgina) Tovias; sisters-in-law, Ana (Freddy) Perez, Martha (Tino) Leal and Maria Tovias; his 14 nieces and nephews; also other numerous relatives and friend that will miss him greatly.
A rosary will be recited on Tuesday evening, Dec. 28, 1999 at 7 p.m. at Joe Jackson Springfield Chapels, 1900 Springfield.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 10 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning, Dec. 29, 1999 at 9:30 a.m. from Joe Jackson Springfield Chapels, 1900 Springfield, to San Luis Rey Catholic Church for a holy mass at 10 a.m.
Interment will be in the family’s plot in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Joe Jackson Springfield Chapels, 1900 Springfield.

Mrs. Margarita G. Rodriguez, 83, passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999 in Laredo. She was born in Dilley, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her son, Federico Rodriguez Jr.; her husband, Federico G. Rodriguez Sr.; also her sister, Lucia Rangel, and brother, Federico Guerrero.
She is survived by her daughters, Asisla (Joe) McWilliams, America Grizelda Rodriguez; son, Jose Rolando “Ron” Rodriguez; granddaughter, Wendy Rodriguez; grandsons, Bryan T. Gillentine, Jan Michael McWilliams, Peter M. McWilliams, Kevin K. McWilliams, Tracy C. Rodriguez; great-grandchildren, Master Lee Marvin Westbrook, Ryan Jordan Westbrook, Jetem R. Westbrook, Alberto G. Escobedo, Steven McWilliams, Jacob I. McWilliams, and Kaitlyn A. McWilliams; brothers, Fernando Ramirez Sr., Valentine Guerrero, and Guadalupe (Catalina) Guerrero.

Josefa E. Montes
ZAPATA, TEXAS — Josefa E. Montes, 87, passed away Dec. 23, 1999 at Mercy Minor Care Center in Zapata, Texas.
Mrs. Montes was preceded in death by her husband, Jorge Montes Sr., great-grandchild, Arnoldo “Nono” Montes Jr., seven sisters, two brothers, and daughter-in-law, Guadalupe Montes.
Mrs. Montes is survived by her children, Jorge (Edna) Montes Jr., Yolanda (Woody) Woodrow, Mauro Montes, and Roberto Montes, Guillermina “Mina” Montes, Roberto (Genoveva) Montes, and Rosena Garcia; sister, Ana M. Vela; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be held on Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999 at 7 p.m. at Rose Garden Funeral Home, 2102 Hwy. 83, Zapata, Texas.
Hours for visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999 from 5 to 9 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 27, 1999 from 8 to 8:45 a.m. The funeral procession will depart at 8:45 a.m. for a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Committal services will follow at the Zapata County Cemetery.

Mrs. Guadalupe Almaraz, 82, passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999 at a Laredo local hospital.
She was born in Colima, Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francisco Almaraz in 1952.
She is survived by her son, Francisco (Esmeralda) Almaraz; grandson, Francisco Almaraz III; one granddaughter, Pvt. Vanessa Lynn Almaraz in the U.S. Army; one sister, Rosa from Mexico. Mrs. Almaraz was very active in many Catholic organizations.
She will be greatly missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Ernestina Castro and daughter, Armandina Garza.
He is survived by his children, Heliodoro (Elvira) Castro, Alfredo (Sylvia) Castro, Dolores (Romeo) Lozano, Vicente (Diana) Castro Jr., Andrea (Santos) Moncivais, Esmeralda (Manuel) Leyva, and Juan (Araceli) Castro all of Laredo; 35 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Pablo (Jesusa) Castro.
A rosary will be recited Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999 at 7 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m.
