Esteline Lavine
Services for Esteline Lavine, 91, of Grapeland, will be at 2 p.m. today in the Grapeland City Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Tindall officiating. Burial will be in the Grapeland City Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Grapeland.
Mrs. Lavine was a member of the Grace Bible Church in Grapeland. Before retiring she was self-employed in the retail grocery business.
Mrs. Lavine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Homer H. Lavine, in 1981.
She is survived by a daughter, Joe Dailey of Grapeland; a sister, Dorothy Lavine of Hartsburg; and a grandchild.
Woodie Ray Ivey
Funeral arrangements for Woodie Ray Ivey, 79, of Austinio, are pending at Memorial Funeral Home in Buffalo.
Mr. Ivey was a retired rancher and farmer who lived most of his life in Leon County before moving to Austinio seven years ago.
Terri Gail McElhaney

Mrs. McElhaney died Friday night at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
Jason D. Conley

Nadalie Ann Herod
Services for Nadalie Ann Herod, 71, of Palestine, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Philips Episcopal Church and at 2 p.m. Saturday at 222 Circle R Lake Road.
Mrs. Herod died April 2 at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 29, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio to Ward Maxwell and Mildred Elizabeth Moore Boring.
Mrs. Herod was a homemaker and a member of the Unitarian Church. She was a secretary for the Iris Society, past registrar for the D.A.R. a member of the Harvey Womens Club and the Newcomers Club.
She was preceded in her husband, Roger H. Herod, in 1999; and her first husband, Robert P. White Jr.
Mrs. Herod is survived by daughters, Cynthia Kelly of Garland and Vicki Pittman of Bryan; sons, Roger Daniel of Rockwall and Micahel Herod of Arlington; a sister, Claudia Jarvis of Hollywood, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mary Zell Campbell Lasyone
Services for Mary Zell Campbell Lasyone, 94, of Palestine, were at 3 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Robley Soileau and Bruce Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in New Addition Annex Cemetery.
Mrs. Lasyone died Monday at her home.
She was born July 31, 1907 in Palestine to Joe and Florence McFarland Campbell.
Mrs. Lasyone was a charter member of the Memorial Christian Church since October 1950. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 23, a branch of the Oddfellows. She served as chaplain for the Davis-Reagan Chapter 2292 for Daughters of the Confederacy for six years and was nominated again this year.
Mrs. Lasyone was preceded in death by her husbands, Bob Campbell in 1976, and Carroll Lasyone in 1992; brother, Milton Campbell; sisters, Eilzabeth Hoffman and Joanne Rae Andrews; and nephew she raised as a son, Joseph Andrews.
She is survived by four grandchildren, Mary Jo Carpenter of Santa Clarita, Calif., Abbie Gail Janz of Murietta, Calif., and Bruce Allen Andrews and Albert Anthony Andrews, both of Palestine; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Brian Andrews, Blake Andrews, Norman Sykes, Clyce Marshall, Dr. Michael Key and Fred Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were James Wylie, David Hickman and Mark Watson.
Oma Pierson
Services for Oma Pierson of Elkhart will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Myrtle Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Pierson died Tuesday at Spring Seasons of Elkhart.
She was born in Sulpher Springs to John and Leda Byrd Hennen.
Mrs. Pierson was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kenneth Ray Damewood; sisters, Annie Walker and Exa Walls; brothers, Chester Hennen and Orville Hennen.
Mrs. Piers is survived by her husband, LB. Pierson of Elkhart; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Edward Dempsey, Windell Pierson, David Pierson, Wayne Curry, Wayne Pierson and Carl Curry.

Raymond Lanier Fletcher
Services for Raymond Lanier Fletcher, 80, of Palestine, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Fields Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Fletcher died Friday morning at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 10, 1921 in Anderson County to Albert Franks and Mindie Langston Fletcher.
Mr. Fletcher was a self-employed mechanic and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Mae Beasley Fletcher, in 1958; and infant son, Stanley Mark Fletcher, in 1958; a son, Raymond Earl Fletcher; three brothers, Otis Frank Fletcher, Melton Fletcher and Andrew Fletcher, all of Palestine; a sister, Nellie Batton of Rayne, La.; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chad Fletcher, Mark Fletcher, Todd Fletcher, Donnie Larkin, Clifton Fletcher and William Fletcher.

William H. “Bill” Mims
Services for William H. “Bill” Mims, 77, of Latexo, will be at 3 p.m. today at Milligan Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Perry officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Grapeland.
Mr. Mims died Friday at his home.
He was born July 16, 1924 in Houston County to Riley and Jewel Hamm Mims.
Mr. Mims was a retired truck driver and a Baptist. He was affiliated with the Masonic Lodge in Dallas.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Mims and Henry Mims; and a sister, Stella Brimberry.
Mr. Mims is survived by his mother, Jewel Mims of Rusk; son, Harold Mims of Rowlett; daughters, Ann Taylor of California, Trish Samford of Gilmer and Jeanette Samford of Corsicana; brother, Joe A. “Boss” Mims of Rusk; sister, Wyncie D. Befford of Colorado; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Iva Ailene Grant
Services for Iva Ailene Grant, 82, of Elkhart, will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Guiceland Cemetery with the Revs. Butch Grant and Barney Walker officiating. Burial will be in Guiceland Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Grant died Friday at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 17, 1920 in Houston County to Davis O. Denson and Molly Brown Denson.
Mrs. Grant was a Baptist and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clint Grant, in 1994; and a daughter, Sarah Edwards.
She is survived by daughters, Martha Bayse of Itasco and Iva Crawford of Elkhart; sons, Marvin Gil of Clarendon and Butch Grant of Elkhart; sister, Loye Rudenbaugh of Tomball; brother, William Denson of Pasadena; 27 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Dorothy Doll Palmer
Services for Dorothy Doll Palmer, 70, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Lyle Huntress officiating. Burial will follow with graveside services at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Cemetery in Huntsville under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Palmer died Sunday morning at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 6, 1932, in New Waverly to David Monroe and Gertrude Pegoda Goldman.
Mrs. Palmer was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She had worked as the restaurant manager for the Holiday Inn and Ramada Inn since 1978.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ward H. Palmer.
Mrs. Palmer is survived by daughters, Dr. Laura Palmer of Madison, N.J. and Debbie Jones of Granbury; son, Andrew Palmer of Palestine; brothers, Bobby Goldman of Palestine, W. Eldon Goldman of Lufkin and Carl Goldman of Huntsville; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Palmer, Danny Jones, Casey Jones, Michael Swearingen, W. Eldon Goldman and Steve Kirby.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James Turner Allen
Services for James Turner Allen, 73, of Grapeland, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Refuge Cemetery with the Rev. Doyle Hodges officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Grapeland.
Mr. Allen died Sunday at his residence.
He was born April 26, 1929, in Grapeland to John Turner Allen and Donie Huffines Allen.
Mr. Allen was a mechanic for many ears. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Marie Templeton, Joann Bell and Rebecca Allen; and brother, John Layland Allen.
Mr. Allen is survived by daughter, Carolyn Manniger of Olney; sons, James Allen of Tennessee Colony, Tommy Allen of Grapeland and John Allen of Houston; sisters, Donna Sue Barronsky of Houston, Joyce Thorp and Bonnie Overstreet, both of Crockett, and Cathy Krause of College Station; brother, Gene O. Allen of Grapeland; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Osjetea Briggs
Services for Osjetea Briggs, 84, of Palestine, and formerly of Groesbeck, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Faulkenberry Cemetery under the direction of Groesbeck Funeral Home Inc.
Miss Briggs died Sunday in Palestine.
She was born Dec. 14, 1917, to Simeon Singleton and Docia Augusta (Gant) Briggs.
Miss Briggs was a writer and photographer and had written many articles for newspapers.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Viola Wiley Thomas, Minnie Lee Stewart and Maggie Olive Briggs; and brothers, Randall Briggs, Roland Briggs and Roy Briggs.
Miss Briggs is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
