Rev. Tenolian Johnson

Services for the Rev. Tenolian Johnson, 88, of Centerville, will be at noon Saturday at Hopewell Baptist Church in Centerville with the Rev. Herman West officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Mr.  Johnson died Saturday at Madison Saint Joseph Health Center in Madisonville.
He was born Nov. 28, 1913 in Nineveh to Isaiah and Ever Tryon Johnson.
Mr.  Johnson attended school in Nineveh and Oakwood. He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church where he served as deacon, Sunday school superintendent and sang in the choir.
He later joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in Centerville and was called into the ministry. He pastored at Watson Chapel Baptist Church in Marquez and later at Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Nineveh until his death.
Mr.  Johnson was treasurer and president of the congress in the Regular New Home Baptist Association. He worked on the waterfront in Houston and for General Motors in Michigan. Upon returning to  Texas he worked as a cattle rancher.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Isaac  Johnson and Corrie Johnson; sisters, Ida Clay, Celestine Isadore, and Lillie Bell Johnson.
Mr.  Johnson is survived by his wife of 24 years, Brenda Abram  Johnson of Centerville; stepson, Myua Abram of Dallas; and sisters, Eugenia Scott of Centerville and Etherial Banks of Teague.
Pallbearers will be Myua Abram, Chauncey Banks, Curtis Banks, Curtis Banks Jr., Maurice Banks and Shawn Banks.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Banks, McKinley Banks, Johnny A. Clay, Dennis LaCompte and James Thomas.

Laura Mae Harris

Funeral arrangements for Laura Mae Harris, 90, of Palestine, are pending at Bailey & Foster.
Mrs. Harris died this morning at Spring Season of Elkhart.

M.C. McCracken

Funeral arrangements for M.C. McCracken are pending at Davis Funeral Home.
Mr. McCracken died Thursday at his residence.

Eli Madison Jr.

Services for Eli Madison Jr., 85, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Temple Church of God in Christ with the Rev. T.J. Crosby officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Mr. Madison died Wednesday at his residence.
He was born Oct. 23, 1917, in the Mount Zion community of Anderson County to Eli and Ada Wade Madison.
Mr. Madison served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a member of the all-black 595th Field Artillery Battalion. He was stationed in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged in 1946.
He was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church and served as deacon, trustee and Sunday school superintendent. He later united with Grace Temple Church of God in Christ and was Sunday school superintendent there.
Mr. Madison was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Anna B. Gross Madison; six sisters and one brother.
He is survived by daughters, Rosie V.  Jones of Fort Worth, Anna M. Madison of Boston, Mass., Jettie B.  Johnson of Dallas, Argie N. Hopson of Lewisville, Sanora J. Porter of Carrollton and Cynthia D. Miller of Arlington; sons, Marcus Madison of Pensacola, Fla., Eli Madison III of Fort Worth, James E. Madison and Larry O. Madison, both of Palestine, and Timothy D. Madison of Irving; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be Christopher R. Johnson, Eli Madison III, James E. Madison, Larry O. Madison Sr., Larry Madison Jr. and Timothy D. Madison.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rayford Hopson, Arlie Johnson, Isaac Jones, Carl Miller and the deacons and trustees of Grace Temple Church of God in Christ.

Winnie F. Woolverton

Services for Winnie Frank Woolverton, 93, of Tennessee Colony, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Herrington Land of Memory Chapel with the Rev. Ken Dodson officiating. Burial will follow in Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory.
Mrs. Woolverton died Wednesday afternoon at her home.
She was born Oct. 15, 1909 in Palestine to Frank and Winnie Jameson Griffith.
Mrs. Woolverton graduated from Palestine High School in 1926 and then from Nixon Business School in Palestine. She worked for the IGN Railroad offices, for Nathan Royall, a cotton broker, for Bob Reeves, the county attorney, and for Ben Greenwood, the district attorney.
She married B.G. Woolverton in 1932 and traveled and worked with him in the oil fields of several Gulf Coast states until returning to Tennessee Colony in 1948 to open a dairy business.
Mrs. Woolverton worked closely with Anderson County extension agent Doc LaRue in getting many state community improvement and activity awards for Tennessee Colony.
She was hired as postmaster for Tennessee Colony in 1956 and served 23 1/2 years before retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Christian Church of Tennessee Colony.
Mrs. Woolverton was preceded in death by her husband; and a sister, Mary Louise Griffith.
She is survived by two cousins and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell Ely, John C. Ely Jr., Johnny Belcher, Tom Griffith, Hugh Dublin and Stanley Graham.
Honorary pallbearers will be L.C. Mehaffey, Ed Wilson, Vivian Ivy, Kay Rogers, and other nieces and nephews.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Cal Farley Boys’ Home.

Reginald “Reg” Dean Teddlie

Services for Reginald “Reg” Dean Teddlie, 65, of Buffalo, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church with the Revs. Don  White, Doc  Jones and Craig Graham officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Buffalo.
Mr. Teddlie died Wednesday in Buffalo.
He was born Dec. 5, 1936, in the Concord community, to Reginald Teddlie and Nora Bess Graham Teddlie.
Mr. Teddlie was a retired industrial hygienist for TU Electric. He was a member of Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church.
He was a founding member of the local Smokie the Bear for the Forestry Service. He was a cattle rancher and worked with youth at the Leon County Livestock Show.
Mr. Teddlie was a member of the Buffalo Masonic Lodge, Waco Shrine Temple, Volunteer Fire Department, National Rifle Association and Ducks Unlimited.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Darla Chevalier of Fairbanks, Ala.
Mr. Teddlie is survived by his wife, Billie Janice “Susie” Teddlie; son, Stephen Teddlie of Irving; daughters, Carolyn Ferguson of Keechi and Charlotte Sessom of Lubbock; and three grandchildren.

H.C. Ward

Services for H.C. Ward, 88, of Jacksonville, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with the Rev. Grady Higgs officiating. Burial will follow at Meador Cemetery in Jacksonville.
Mr. Ward died Thursday in Tyler.
He was born Sept. 27, 1914, in Cherokee County.
Mr. Ward formerly worked at Cherokee Hardware in Jacksonville for 35 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maurine Ward.
Mr. Ward is survived by son, Danny Ward of Jacksonville; daughter, Ann George of Jacksonville; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Packer, Kyle Vanover, Jerry Rhone, Dewie Welch, Roddy Packer, Philip Welch and Michael Welch.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

O.A. “Bert” Wood

Funeral arrangements for O.A. “Bert” Wood, 82, of Mesquite, and formerly of Pert, are pending at Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Wood died Wednesday afternoon at Plano Specialty Hospital in Plano.

Michael A. Shumate

Funeral arrangements for Michael A. Shumate, 30, of Palestine, are pending at Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Shumate died Thursday in Palestine.

Deborah Ann Oakley

Private services for Deborah Ann Oakley, 34, of Livingston will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Life Fellowship Church with the Rev. Dick Davis officiating.
Miss Oakley died Sunday in Huntsville.
She was born June 30, 1967 in Great Lakes, Ill. to Robert Oakley and Frances Hearne Oakley.
Miss Oakley was a Methodist. She worked as a technician for a hearing aid company.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Miss Oakley is survived by her father of Morrisson, Col.; daughter, Deja Cheyenne Oakley; son, Joshua Dillon Oakley of Palestine; and sister, Colleen Weatherly of Palestine.

John E. Monk

Services for John E. Monk, 54, of Dallas, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Beth Eden Baptist Church in Dallas with the Rev. Tony Monk officiating. Burial will be in the Veterans Memorial under the direction of Benevolent Mortuary Funeral Home in Dallas.
A wake will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Mr. Monk died Monday at Baylor University hospital in Dallas.
He was born June 17, 1948 in Houma, La. to Willie Drew and Willie Mae Monk.
Mr. Monk was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an associate minister of Beth Eden Baptist Church.
Mr. Monk attended Henderson County Junior College in Athens. He was a drill sergeant instructor for C.C.D. until his illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Monk is survived by his wife, Ettro LaVerne Monk; son, Tony Monk; and daughter, LaToya Monk, all of Dallas; nine brothers and three sisters, all of Dallas, and one sister of Waco.
Pallbearers will be the Brotherhood of Beth Eden Baptist Church.

Daisy Glover

Services for Daisy Glover, 99, of Neches, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Reginald Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Dabbs Cemetery in Neches under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Glover died Tuesday at Frankston Health Care Center.
She was born Sept. 23, 1903 in Todd City to Jim and Nancy Holloway Jordan.
A lifelong member of Evans Springs Baptist Church, she was a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir.
Mrs. Glover was employed at Palestine Laundry. She married James Glover and later married Eric “Buck” Nelson. After Mr. Nelson’s death, she remarried her first husband.
She was preceded in death by both husbands; eight siblings; and a son, Raymond Nelson.
Mrs. Glover is survived by a son, Larry Clayborne of Neches; four grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Crafton M. Reid

Services for Crafton M. Reid, 80, of Wheaton, Md., and formerly of Palestine, were held last week in Inwood, W.V.
He died Oct. 1 in a Martinsburg, W.V. hospital.
Mr. Reid was born May 17, 1922 in Palestine. He was reared in Neches and served in U.S. Navy and retired as special representative to the U.S. Naval Service Group Command Headquarters in  Washington, D.C.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Carpenter Reid.
Mr. Reid is survived locally by a nephew, Cliff Scroggins of Palestine.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.V. 25401.

Evlyn Lewis

Funeral arrangements for Evlyn Lewis are pending at Davis Funeral Home in Palestine.
Mrs. Lewis died Tuesday at a Houston hospital.
