Dec. 17, 1999 at 8:45 a.m.

Church. Mass began at 9
a.m.
Interment followed in the family
plot of the Catholic Cemetery.

Jack Edwin Luft
ROCKPORT, TX.— Jack Edwin
Luft, 53, passed away Wednesday,
Dec. 15, 1999.
He was a resident of Rockport
for the past nine years. He grew
up in Corpus Christi and graduated
from Ray High School in
1964. He served three tours of
duty in Vietnam War with the
U.S. Marines. He was a sales
consultant for Cobalt Group out
of Seattle, Wash. Jack was a
“coastal cowboy”; he loved sailing,
fishing, hunting and horses
and was a master of all, just ask
him!
A head-on collision on Mustang
Island claimed Jack’s life. His
grieving wife, friends, and relatives
recall how Jack made everyone
feel so special. He had a
big heart...Everyone loved him.
Friends said that Jack Luft possessed
a charisma that drew
people to him. “He’s making a
lot of grown men cry right
now”, said a friend from Corpus
Christi, of the colorful and
generous Jack Luft.
He is survived by his loving
wife, Kay Segura Christian Luft
of Rockport, Texas; his brother,
Bill Luft of Laredo, Texas; two sisters,
Barbara (John) Griessen of
Johnson City, Texas and Beverly
Hulett of Dallas, Texas; nieces and
nephews, Steve and Wendy
Griessen of Austin, Texas., John
Griessen Jr., of Denver, Colorado,
Eric Hulett of Atlanta,
Georgia, Adriane and Dean Pilcher
of St. Louis, Missouri; and
six great nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held
at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18,
1999 at Charlie Marshall Chapel,
Rockport, Texas.
There will be a private family
interment.

Cancer Society, Tri-City Unit,

Mrs. Degollado was born in San
Antonio, TX. She had been a
resident of Laredo most of her
life.
She was preceded in death by
two sisters, Manuela Torres and
Lorenza Zamora.
She is survived by her husband,
Captain, Jesus R. Degollado
(retired); children, Jesus R.
(Margarita) Degollado Jr., Esther
(Arturo) Lopez Jr., Raul
(Noemi) Degollado, Beatriz
(Roberto) Gonzalez, Javier
Degollado, and Estela (David)
Cardwell; 17 grandchildren; uncle,

ZAPATA, TX. — Jose Jueventino
Ramirez, 85, passed away
Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999 at Doctors’
Memorial Hospital in San
Antonio, TX.
Mr. Ramirez served in the U.S.
Army during World War II.
Mr. Ramirez is survived by his
son, Michael J. (Rachel)
Ramirez; brother, Eduardo E.
Ramirez; sister, Maria De La
Paz Ramirez Vielmann; grandchildren,
Eric, Melissa and
Monica; special niece and nephews,
Gregorio, Joe Eduardo and
Elva; also, other relatives.

Valeriano Chapa
Mr. Valeriano Chapa was a beloved
husband, father, grandfather
and great-grandfather. Mr.
Chapa was called to be with the
Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 15,
1999. He will be dearly missed
by all whose lives he touched.
He was born on April 14, 1903
in Agualeguas, Nuevo Leon,
Mexico. He and his family
moved to Laredo, TX in 1910.
He studied bookkeeping at a
business college in Laredo.
Mr. Chapa married Eduviges
Ramos in 1930. He worked as a
bookkeeper until he retired and
moved to Corpus Christi in
1966. While in Laredo, he and
his family were members of
Christ the King Catholic
Church. In Corpus Christi he
and his wife were members of
Most Precious Blood Catholic
Church.
Mr. Chapa was preceded in
death by his father, Cenovio
Chapa; mother, San Juana
Garcia Chapa; brothers, Felipe
and Pedro G. Chapa; sisters,
Angela Chapa and Regina
Blanco; son, Roberto A. Chapa
Mr. Chapa is survived by his
wife, Eduviges Ramos Chapa of
Corpus Christi, Tx.; children,
Edmundo (Margarita) Chapa of
Garland, TX., Elsa (William)
Jackson of Corpus Christi, TX.,
Sylvia (Eduardo) Hernandez of
Corpus Christi, TX.; grandchildren,
