Reta Grusendorf, 70, of Spur died Tuesday July 26, 2005. Private family services were held Wednesday, July 27.
Mrs. Grusendorf was born June 1, 1935 in Coleman County,  Texas.
Mrs. Grusendorf worked as a bookkeeper for her husband’s business for several years.
Mrs. Grusendorf is preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil and Wayne.
She is survived by her husband, John Grusendorf, three sons, Mike Nichols and wife Liz, Charles Nichols and wife Darla, and Craig Nichols, two daughters, Amy, and Debra and husband Tom. She is also survived by two sisters, Voncille and Mabel, and two brothers, Arch and Guinn, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.

May Allen Hutto, 86, of Spur died July 31, 2005. She was born March 13, 1919 in Bowie County  Texas. She had lived in the Spur area since 1943. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Nathan Patterson, and second husband, Truett Hutto. She is also preceded in death by one son, Curtis Darrell Patterson, and one granddaughter, Cherry Lynn Patterson.
She is survived by one daughter, Doris Earline Cain of Canyon County California, and one son, Nathan Leon Patterson of Albuquerque, a granddaughter, Elaine Kautz of Dickens TX, a grandson, Jamie Darrel Patterson of Hobbs N.M. She is also survived by two stepsons, one step grandson, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday August 2, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Spur with the Rev. Rory Mosley and the Rev. Tommy Henderson officiating. Burial followed in Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Spur Senior Citzens.

Graveside services for Lorene Edwards, 85, of Spur were held Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at Dickens Cemetery with Rev. Larry Burton officiating. Services were under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.She died Monday, July 4, 2005 in Spur. Mrs. Edwards was born June 6, 1920 in Wills Point to Chester and Beatrice Dixon Martin. She married Henry Louis Edwards February 20, 1937 in Florence, AZ. He preceded her in death February 25, 1991. She had been a resident of Dickens County since 1948. She and her husband owned and operated the Double L Motel in Dickens from 1962 to 1978. She had also served on the Dickens Senior Citizens board of directors. She was a homemaker and a member of the Dickens Methodist Church. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Marie Mullins and husband Lewis of Dickens; one granddaughter Donna Forbis and husband Craig of Lamesa; one Great-Granddaughter, Mandy Forbis of Lames; three brothers, J.C. Martin and wife Esther of Safford, AZ, Ben Martin and wife Wilma of Cottonwood, AZ and Kenneth Martin of Fayetteville, AK. The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
Charles Walter Love, 64 of Leander,  Texas died Sunday, July 3, 2005. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 6,2005 at Great Hills Baptist Church in Austin. Burial followed in Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet County,  Texas

Funeral services for Johnny (John) Brownlow, age 72 of Lubbock, were held Monday, June 27, 2005, at Resthaven’s
Abbey Chapel with the Rev. Jim Woodworth officiating. Mr. Brownlow died Friday, June 24, 2005, in Lubbock.
He was born July 20, 1932, in Cottle County. He grew up and graduated from high school in Paducah. He served in the
U.S. Air Force and later moved to the Lubbock area. He worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30
years in Paducah, Lubbock, and Austin. He married Mabel Ann Bownds on September 13, 1975.
Two sisters and one brother preceded Johnny in death. Survivors include, his wife of 30 years, Mabel Ann Brownlow, two daughters, Jonyce Putman and husband, Mark of Lubbock, and Andrea Ramirez and husband, Mike of Austin, two step-sons, Gary Voyles and wife, Martha of Lubbock, and Rusty Voyles of Austin, step-daughter, Sandra Merritt of San Francisco, CA, nine grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Expressions of sympathy are suggested to Hospice of Lubbock, 1102 Slide Rd. Ste. 3, Lubbock, TX 79416.

Mable M. Wheeler, 97, a resident of New Mexico since 1985, died July 4, 2005. She is survived by her daughters, Zana Halliday of Garland, TX and Sandra Wells of Los Lunas; son, Dale Wheeler and wife, Diane of Belen; grandchildren, Lyle “Doc” Halliday of Spur, TX, Kay Wheeler and husband, Eugene, Martha  Jones and husband, Alvin, all of Ft. Worth, TX, Sylvia Katzenmeir and husband, Kenneth of Caddo Mills, TX, Janice Owens, Greg Gensen and wife, Valerie and Annette Norris, all of Los Lunas, Carol Camiejo and husband, Kam, of San Antonio, TX and Kenneth Wheeler of Dallas, TX; 19 great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Wheeler was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence Wheeler; and grandson, Keith Gensen. She was an avid rock hound. Graveside services will be held Thursday, 11:30 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE., Albuquerque, NM.

James Bryan Montgomery, 79, passed away June 23, 2005, at the  Texas State Veterans Home in Temple,  Texas. Graveside services were held Monday, June 27, 2005 at Jayton Cemetery with Pastor Mack Cole officiating under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.
Jim was born August 11, 1925, in Jayton,  Texas, to John Harrison Montgomery, Sr. and Ida Pearl Clark Montgomery. He graduated from Jayton High School in 1943. He served in the South Pacific during World War II as a member of the 3rd Marine Division Pioneer Battalion and in China as a member of the 1st Division Engineer Battalion. After the war, he returned to Jayton and married Sue Fowler on October 8, 1947.
Jim served Kent County as a deputy sheriff from 1951-53 and served two terms as sheriff from 1953-1956 and was the youngest sheriff in  Texas at the time. During the 1950s he and his brother, John H. Montgomery, Jr., operated Montgomery Brothers Registered Herefords, producing a National Grand Champion and winning many major shows. In 1955, their herd was deemed one of the best in the nation. In addition to cattle raising, Jim and his brother raised cotton, and in 1949 they became the first farmers in Kent County to harvest cotton by mechanical means.
Jim also owned Jayton Supply and Furniture. He and his family moved to Midland,  Texas, in 1971, and Jim managed convenience stores for Furrs, Inc. He eventually earned a real estate broker’s license and owned Jim Montgomery Real Estate, specializing in farm and ranch properties.
He is preceded in death by his wife and daughter Molly.
He is survived by his brother John, his children, Mark, Jeb, and Meg, and grandson Jared.

Graveside services for Gaile Robertson, 58, of Dickens were held Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at Dickens Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Henderson officiating. Services were under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home in Spur.
She died Monday, June 27, 2005 at her residence.
Mrs. Robertson was born February 25, 1947 in Brownfield to Elzo and Ida Leach Hutton. She was a graduate of Permian High School in Odessa. She had been a Dickens County resident since 1981. She married Eddy Robertson in 1992 in Portales, NM.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Gaile is survived by her husband, her mother Ida Hutton of Odessa and one brother and sister-in-law, Glynn and Beverly Hutton of Odessa.
The family suggests memorials to Cal Farley Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174.

Stella Browning, age 100, died Saturday, June 11, 2005 in Abilene,  Texas. Graveside
services were held Thursday, June 16th with M.F. "Mid" McKnight officiating at
Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, TX under the direction of The Hamil Family
Funeral Home.
Violet Estelle "Stella" Cooner Browning was born on March 3, 1905 in O'Brien,  Texas
to parents Henry M. Cooner and Elizabeth Wharton Cooner. She attended Abilene
Christian College and  Texas Tech University and also Sull Ross where she obtained a
degree in Education. She married Bruce C. Browning on May 28, 2935. Mrs. Browning
taught first grade in various  Texas schools for twenty years before moving to California
where she taught kindergarten for twenty years. She and Dr. Browning moved back to
Abilene from California in 1969. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Stella
was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lizzie Cooner; her husband, Dr. Bruce
Browning, who died in 2000.
Stella is survived and lovingly remembered by her nieces, LaRue and husband, Floyd
Gilbert of Waco, LaVorise and husband, Mid McKnight of Abilene, Annette and husband,
Bill Fox of Virginia, Judy and husband, Dave Fillpot of North Carolina and Patsy Polansky
of North Carolina, two nephews, Jim Bob Cooner of Corpus Christi and Ronald Roberts
and wife, Sally of Minnesota. Sisters-in-laws are Dan Barton of Matador and Eunice
Perkins and husband, George of Mabank, along with numerous other relatives, friends and
neighbors.
Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association and may be left at The Hamil
Family Funeral Home. The family will be at 3117 San Miguel in Abilene.

Jerry Clarke Tarrant, 63, of Abilene, died at his home surrounded by family, on Saturday
, June 11, 2005. According to his wishes, cremation arrangements entrusted to Community
Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd St., Abilene,  Texas.
Jerry was born in Matador, TX on November 29, 1941, to the late Weldon A. and Ola
Faye (Williams) Tarrant. He graduated from Patton High School in Afton, TX and on
March 21, 1964, he married Bettie Diane Scott in Lubbock, TX. Before retiring, he was a
horse breeder.
Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many people. He will
be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Bettie Diane of Abilene, two sons, Quentin Tarrant of Jayton,
TX and Jeff Boyle of Childress, TX, one daughter, Karla Mathis of Abilene, two brothers,
Dee Tarrant of Grand Prairie, TX and David Tarrant of Memphis, TX, two sisters, Lyndia
Cronk of Seagoville, TX, and Voda Plattner of Grand Prairie, TX, three grandchildren,
Quencie and Jordan Tarrant of Grandview, TX and Kaela Mathis of Abilene. He was
preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carla Perry.

Services for Norma Arnold, 82, of Spur were held Sunday, June 12, 2005 at Hwy. 70
Church of Christ in Spur with Eric Swenson and Bob Martin officiating. Burial followed
in Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home. She passed
away Friday, June 10, 2005 in Spur.
Mrs. Arnold was born January 22, 1923 in Red Mud to Alonzo and Ada Belle Embry
Hoover. She graduated from Spur High School in 1941 and attended Draughon’s
Business College in Lubbock. She married Louis Arnold July 22,1944 in Spur. He
preceded her in death in 1988. Through the years, she was very active in many
organizations including PTA, study club, scouting, room mother and the church. She
was also preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters, and one grandson.
She is survived by two sons, Randy Arnold of Crosbyton and Greg Arnold of Spur,
two daughters, Judy Clay of Spur and Kristi Bass of Breckenridge, two sisters, Leeoma
Cross of Spur and Robbie Briscoe of Levelland, eight grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Dickens County EMS, P.O. Box 277, Spur, TX
79370 or Spur Memorial Cemetery, P.O. Box 111, Spur, TX 79370.

Robert C. “Spec” Green, 88, of Spur died Monday, June 13, 2005 in Crosbyton.
Services will be at 3PM Friday, June 17, 2005 at First United Methodist Church in Spur,
with Rev. Larry Burton officiating. Burial will be in Dickens Cemetery under the direction
of Campbell Funeral Home.
He was born January 15, 1917 in Dickens to Thomas and Jeffie Hutson Green, early
pioneer settlers in Dickens County. He graduated from Dickens High School and attended
 Texas Tech. He served in the US Seventh Cavalry at Ft. Bliss as a part of the last mounted
cavalry. He married Theatus Rogers November 2, 1942 in Dickens. Through the years,
Spec taught and coached at Wilson, Southland and Guthrie High Schools. He worked for
Humble Oil in Guthrie for a time. He then took a position as state meat inspector in Post for
many years.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sydnie Green in 1999; six brothers and one
sister.
“Spec” is survived by his wife, Theatus of Spur; one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and
Sandy Green of Lubbock/Ropesville; one daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie and Wayne
Rider of Denton; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Campbell Funeral Home from 6-8pm Thursday.
Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 415, Spur,
TX 79370.

Services for Cecilia Tagle Salinas, 65, of Dalton, GA were held Saturday, June 11, 2005 a
t St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fr. Paul Kariakatt officiated. Burial followed in Spur
Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.
She died June 6, 2005 in Dalton , GA. Mrs. Salinas was born July 9, 1939 in Corpus Christie
to Isabel and Beatrice Marquez Tagle. She attended Spur Schools. She married Refugio
Salinas February 15, 1966 in Spur. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Roberto Salinas, one sister, Minnie Tagle,
and three brothers, Paul Tagle, Santos Tagle and Fred Tagle.
She is survived by six sons, Ramiro Salinas, Raul Salinas and Franklee Salinas all of Dalton,
GA. Mario Tagle of Ft. Worth, Reynaldo Salinas of Spur and Rogelio Salinas of Tampa,
Floriada, five daughters, Yolanda Flick of Arthur City, TX, San Juanita Castaneda and
Esmeralda Hernandez of Dalton, GA, Duvigen Esquivel of Rocky Mt., NC and Margarita
Salinas of Tampa, FL, three brothers, John and Romeo Tagle of Spur, and Michael Tagle of
Amarillo, five sisters, Mary Gonzales, Cruz Saucedo and Lupe Ferguson all of Spur, Mary
Grace of Tulsa, OK and Gloria Pesina of Terrell, TX, 26 grandchildren and 6
great-grandchildren.
