Funeral services will begin at 8
a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999
from the Hernandez Lopez and
Sons Northside Chapels. Holy
Mass will be celebrated at 8:30
a.m. at San Francisco Javier
Catholic Church.
Interment will then follow in
the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction
of Hernandez, Lopez
and Sons Northside Chapels,
800 Boston St. at San Bernardo

Paula V. Hernandez
Paula V. Hernandez, 63, passed
away Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999 at a
local hospital.
Mrs. Hernandez was born in
Litting, TX. She had been a resident
of Laredo all of her life.
She was preceded in death by
her parents, Ildefonso
Villanueva and Perfecta Blanco
Villanueva, by two sisters, Maria
Zambrano and Ramona Cervantes;
also by a brother, Julian
Villanueva.
She is survived by her husband,
Domingo T. Hernandez; children,
Juan Angel (Maria)
Hernandez, Anselmo (Erica)
Hernandez, Fernando
Hernandez, Armando
Hernandez, Domingo T.
Hernandez, Eduardo
Hernandez, Lydia (Abel)

(Cynthia) Hernandez; 12 grandchildren;
one great-grandchild;
brothers, Porfirio (Amparo)

Villanueva and Jesus (Rosa)
Villanueva; sister, Santos (Jose)
Rodriguez; brother-in-law,
Francisco Zambrano; sister-in-law,
Armandina Villanueva; also, nephews,
nieces, other relatives and many
friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday,
Dec. 9, 1999 from 3 to 9
p.m. with a rosary being recited
at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez
Lopez and Sons Southside
Chapels, Loop 20 and Zapata
Highway.
Funeral services will begin at
8:15 a.m. on Friday Dec. 10,
1999 from the Hernandez Lopez
and Sons Southside Chapels.
Holy Mass will be celebrated at
8:30 a.m. at San Vicente de Paul
Catholic Church.
Interment will then follow in
the Laredo City Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction
of Hernandez Lopez
and Sons Southside Chapels,
Loop 20 and Zapata Highway,

Rosenda Salas
LA GRANGE, TX.— Rosenda
Salas, 89, formally of Dilley and
Laredo, TX. passed away
Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999.
Her greatest and most important
accomplishment was being
a loving and supportive wife
and mother. Her faith was her
strength.
She was preceded in death by
her parents, Roman Guerra and
Rosenda Guerra Ramirez and
her husband, Eugenio Salas.
She is survived by her daughters,
Ylanda Garrett of Scottsdale, AZ.,
Norma Smith of La
Grange, TX.; nine grandchildren;
five great-grandchildren.
A private burial will be held in
the Laredo City Cemetery.
Donations may be made in her
memory to the Methodist Board
of Missions, c/o Oscar Garza

Roberto Sanchez
Roberto Sanchez, 88, passed
away Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999
at a local hospital.
Mr. Roberto Sanchez lived all
his life here in Laredo, TX. Mr.
Sanchez was a loving father and
grandfather. He will be greatly
missed by all those whose lives
he touched.
He was preceded in death by
his beloved wife, Guadalupe L.
Sanchez.
Mr. Roberto Sanchez is survived
by his children, E. J.
(Benita) Sanchez Sr., Andrea
(Domingo) Martinez, Maria
Bertha (Jose) Esparza, Roberto
(Esther) Sanchez Jr., Maria Guadalupe
(Omar) Mellado, Armando
(Delia) Sanchez; he is also survived
by 25 grandchildren; 83
great-grandchildren; 13
great-great-grandchildren,
nieces, nephews and other relatives
that will greatly miss
him.

Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999 at 7 p.m
at Joe  Jackson Heights Funeral
Chapel, 719 Loring at Cortez.
Visitation will be held from 5 to
10 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on
Friday, Dec. 10, 1999 at 8:40
a.m. from Joe  Jackson Heights
Funeral Chapel, 719 Loring at
Cortez to Blessed Sacrament
Catholic Church for a Holy
Mass at 9 a.m.
Interment will be at the family’s
plot in the Calvary Catholic
Cemetery.

Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999 in Laredo,
TX.

9 p.m. A prayer service was
held at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999 at 9:45
a.m. from Hillside Funeral
Home, 310 Hillside Road, to
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter
Day Saints, 1520 E. Hillside.
Service began at 10 a.m.
Interment followed at the City
Cemetery.

Consuelo Vasquez
HOUSTON, TX.— Consuelo
Vasquez, beloved mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother,
and great great-grandmother,
Passed away peacefully at
the age of 97 at home in Houston.
Her remarkable life spanned the
century. Born in Laredo, TX.
She was married 66 years to
L.R. Vasquez Sr., who predeceased
her. Asherton in Dimmit
County was her home for most
of her life.
She is survived by her son, Col.
(Ret.) L.R. Vasquez Jr., and wife
Olga of  Washington, D.C.; her
daughters and sons-in-law,
Alicia and Joe Worley of San
Antonio, and Viola and Sam
Thornhill of Houston; grandchildren,
Joe Worley Jr., and
wife Alicia, Kerry, Victoria and
Jeb Stuart Thornhill of Houston,
Capt. Dan Vasquez, USAF and
wife, Yoko presently stationed
in Holland, David and wife
Claudia Vasquez of Houston,
and L.R. Vasquez III,  Texas
Commissioner of Licensing and
Regulations and wife Martha of
Houston; great-grandchildren,
Robert Worley and wife Stacy,
Kristen Worley, Ryan Talbot
McElvenney; great great-grandson,
Robert Worley of Houston.

1520 Harry Warsbach, San Antonio,
TX. on Wednesday, Dec.
8, 1999 at 1:30 p.m.
Interment will be at Ft. Sam
Houston National Cemetery,
San Antonio, TX. at 2:45 p.m.

Emma V. Torres, 77, was born
on Feb. 22, 1922 in Cuidad
Guerrero, Tamaulipas, Mexico
and passed away on Dec. 6,
1999 in Laredo, TX.
She was preceded in death by
her parents, Homero Vela
Garcia, and Francisca Garza de
Vela, Erasmo Vela, Homero Vela,
Pablo Vela and other relatives.
She is survived by her husband
of 45 years, Antonio G. Torres;
children, Norma Alicia “Chata”
(Mitchell) Taylor, Antonio Torres Jr.,
Homero Torres, Hector
(Maria Rosa) Torres; grandchildren,
Michael, Kristina, Mark
