Lois Glenn

Mission, TX — Lois Glenn, 93, died Friday December 3 rd, 2004 at 11 p.m. in Mission Hospital. Ms. Glenn had been a long time Valley resident, moving here from San Antonio where she was employed by H.B. Zachery Co. for over fifteen years. Upon retiring, Ms. Glenn worked as a tax assessor for Progresso I.S.D.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Mae Humphries and father George Rutland, sister, Eva Black and brother-in-law, B. A. Black, nephew, Ed Hefley, and his wife, Theresa Hefley.

Surviving are nieces, Jeannie Montgomery and Joy Black; great nieces, Diane Hull, Eva Jean Radle, Linda Lee Doubrava and Susan Montgomery; great nephews, Denny Montgomery, Harold Dalton and James Dalton; great-great nieces Alethea DeAngelo, Pamela and Tamera Doubrava and Katrina Urban; great-great nephews, Dennis Montgomery, James and Matthew Gledhill and Ross Palacios; and four great-great-great nephews.

Visitation for Ms. Glenn will be from 8 a.m. till 12 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 6, 2004 at Kreidler Funeral Home, 314 N. 10th Street, McAllen, TX 78501. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today, December 6, 2004 at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Weslaco, TX with Rev. John Badders of St. John’s Episcopal Church will officiate.

Kreidler Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ninfa Lozano

Harlingen — Ninfa Lozano, 63, entered into rest on Friday, December 3, 2004 at Valley Baptist Medical Center.

Ms. Lozano was born in Progreso, TX. Ninfa was a well loved educator who taught at Progreso High School and at Harlingen South High School. She was also a member of the Mormon Church and she went on several missions in the United States and South America.

She touched many people’s lives with her kindness and generosity.

She is preceded in death by her father, Joaquin Lozano and mother, Jesusita Lozano.

She is survived by her two sisters, Enedina (Pedro) L. Trevino and Elva Dunkley; nieces, Gloria (Charles) Oliva, Susie Mendez and Christina Christiansen; grandniece Amanda Mendez; and grandnephews, Pedro (Paula) Oliva, Alex Mendez and Mark Sullivan.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a memorial service to be held at 7 p.m. Inurnment of cremated remains will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, TX.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home.

Teresa T. Flores

Santa Rosa — Teresa T. Flores, 74, entered into rest on Saturday, December 4, 2004 at Harlingen Nursing Center.

Mrs. Flores was a 47 year resident of Santa Rosa and was preceded in death by her loving husband, Federico "Kico" A. Flores, her daughter, Maria Flores, her parents, Nicolas and Maria Luisa M. Trevino and by her brothers, Nicolas Trevino, Jr. and Roberto Trevino.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Norma Alicia Flores of Santa Rosa, Sallie (Joe) Maldonado of Edinburg, her son, Gilberto (Mary Helen) Flores of Santa Rosa, three grandchildren, Jaime (Sandra) Quiroga, Crystal Y. (Efrain) De Los Santos, La Tanta R. (Joe) Flores, and three great-grandchildren, Andres Gonzalez, Kayla R. Ayala and Madison H. De Los Santos. She is also survived by her sisters, Velia (Encarnacion) Cruz, Maria (Raul) Reyna of Sebastian, TX and Maria "Cuca" (Ralph) Romo of Harlingen, TX and by her brother, Juan (Janie) Trevino of Lubbock, TX.

Visitation will be held today, Monday, December 6, 2004 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Roses with the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m.

The funeral procession will depart the Rudy Garza Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at 1:15 p.m. for a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, TX.

Interment will follow at Guadalupe Cemetery in Sebastian, TX.

Pallbearers will be Roberto Trevino, Eduardo Garcia, Ralph Romo, Jr., Nick Trevino, Andy Bonilla and Refugio Rickford.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home of Harlingen.

Marion E. Ruzich

MERCEDES — Marion E. Ruzich, 83, of Mercedes passed away on Friday, December 3, 2004 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco,  Texas. She was born April 20, 1921 in Marengo, Illinois to Edward William and Mary Elzada Petersen Behnke.

She is survived by her loving family, husband, Jack Ruzich of Mercedes, TX; two daughters, Polly Colby of Mercedes, TX and Donna (Duane) Fellows of Oregon, Illinois; one son, Paul (Elodie) Zeien of Belvedere, Illinois, 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and five sisters.

Marion was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She is dearly Loved and missed by all those who knew her.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Mercedes.

Leonor G. Gutierrez

HARLINGEN, TX — Leonor G. Gutierrez, 95, entered into rest on Monday at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, TX.

Mrs. Gutierrez was a lifelong resident of Harlingen and was preceded in death by her husband, Luis Gutierrez, Sr.

She is survived by her loving children, Ofelia Losoya of Houston, TX, Maria Elva (Jose Angel) Quintanilla of Beeville, TX, Luis (Angela B.) Gutierrez, Jr., of Harlingen, TX, Jesus Gutierrez of Brownsville, TX, Roberto (Virginia) Gutierrez of Harlingen, TX, 28 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held today, December 8, 2004 from 10:00 am until 9:00 P.M. at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace with a Talk to be held at 7:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2004 at 2:00 PM at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria, TX.

Pallbearers will be Rolando Gutierrez, Gilberto Quintanilla, Rudy Gutierrez, Roberto Gutierrez, Jr., Joel Losoya, Jr., and Jimmy Quintanilla.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen.

Abel B. Villarreal

HARLINGEN, TX — Abel B. Villarreal, 28, of Harlingen went to be with the Lord, Monday, December 6, 2004 at Valley Baptist Medical Center. Abel was a 1995 Harlingen South High School graduate.

He is preceded in death by his sister; Yolanda Villarreal; son, Angel Villarreal; and his maternal grandparents, Marcos and Senaida Balboa; and paternal grandfather, Francisco Villarreal.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rita J. Villarreal; four children, Brian Jacob, Gabrielle Nicole, Abel Christian and Erin Brianne; parents, Domingo and Hortencia Villarreal; paternal grandmother, Margarita Villarreal. Also surviving him are his brothers, Frank (Rosie) Villarreal, Danny (Gina) Villarreal, Rey (Mary) Villarreal; sisters, Maribel (Arnulfo) Garcia, Marcy Villarreal and Diana (Carlos) Garza; and his father and mother in law, Paul and Ruby Navarette; and 16 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be today, (Wednesday) from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and a rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 9, 2004 departing the Rudy Garza Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony‘s Catholic Church.

Interment will follow at Ashland Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jaime Navarrette, Jacob Navarette, Frank Villarreal, Danny Villarreal, Rey Villarreal and Jacob Villarreal.

Abel was a loving son, brother, husband and father.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bonnie Bell Edwards

MERCEDES, TX — Bonnie Bell Edwards, 83, formerly of Mercedes, TX died Sunday, December 5, 2004 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. In July, she moved from  Texas to Grand Forks to be near her daughter. She resided at Tufte Manor Assisted Living Residence in GF.

She was born in Paris, TX on September 28, 1921 to James M. and Sallie (Byrum) Awbrey. On October 4, 1941, she was united in marriage to Willie Winston Edwards of Paris TX. During their marriage, they lived in various parts of  Texas. He managed variety stores and she worked in various positions in these stores as a clerk, assistant manager, or office manager. In 1955, Mr. Edwards joined the Hanshaw Variety Store chain as manager of the store in Victoria, TX. In 1958, that store closed and he was transferred to Mercedes, TX as store manager. Bonnie worked in the store as a clerk. When J&J Discount House was opened in Mercedes she was named manager. After that store closed, she was named manager of the new Hanshaw‘s Variety Store in Donna,  Texas. She then worked with her husband as assistant manager of the Mercedes store when the Donna store closed. Willie Edwards died on November 1, 1976. Later, she worked for The Fabric Fair in Weslaco, TX. She then worked for Jenk‘s Flowers of Weslaco before her retirement in 1983.

She was known for the beautiful afghans that she crocheted as gifts to family and friends. She loved to hand quilt and was an excellent seamstress and cook. Bonnie was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family and friends. She belonged to the Mercedes Christian Church for many years.

Bonnie is survived by her children: daughter, Bonnie Jean (Charles) Durrenberger of Grand Forks, ND; son, Jimmie Wayne (Margaret) Edwards, Mukilteo, WA; grandchildren: Buddy Wayne (Mary Martinez) Edwards, Weslaco, TX; Fred (Lilly) Edwards, Mercedes, TX; Robert Edwards, Mercedes, TX; and Stephanie Edwards Herrick , Seattle, WA; great-grandson, Michael Edwards, Mercedes, TX; daughter-in-law, Dora Edwards, Weslaco, TX; and one sister, Gladys Bailey, Garland, TX.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, William Austin "Buddy" Edwards; her parents; and two brothers, John and Herman Awbrey.

A familv visitation will be held at Garcia-Trevino Funeral Home in Mercedes, TX from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 9.

A graveside service and burial will be held at Ebony Grove Cemetery in Mercedes, TX on Friday, December 10, at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Don Brynteson, Mercedes Christian Church, will officiate.

Funeral arrangements are unde the direction of Garcia & Trevino Funeral Home.

Carlota D. Gonzalez

LA FERIA, TX — Carlota D. Gonzalez, 77, entered into rest on Tuesday at Valley Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Gonzalez was a lifelong resident of Primera and was preceded in death by her husband, Dionicio Gonzalez; and son, Paul D. Gonzalez.

She is survived by her four daughters, Santos "Chita" (Jose) Cavazos, Aida (Alfredo) Garza, Rosa Maria Gonzalez of San Benito, Anita (Greg) Galvan of La Tina; daughter-in-law, Lupita Gonzalez; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on today, December 9, 2004 from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace with the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 PM.

The funeral procession will depart the Rudy Garza Funeral Home on Friday, December 10, 2004 at 9:30 AM for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian burial at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. Mathias Shanley as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in La Feria, TX.

Pallbearers will be Alfredo Garza, Jr., Richard Garza, Paul Garza, Jose Cavazos, Jr., David Solis, Ruben Garza and Oscar Landeros. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home of La Feria,  Texas.

Isaac Edward Diaz

HARLINGEN, TX — Cpl Isaac Edward Diaz born 3rd of July 1978 in Harlingen, TX passed away 1st of December 2004 while defending his nation during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Isaac was a devoted husband, father and always a professional soldier. During his life he touched the souls of all those who were fortunate enough to know him. Isaac was never one to complain, always had a smile on his face which made every one around him smile. Isaac‘s radiant spirit and attitude made hard times easier and good times that much better.

Isaac is survived by his wife Amber, son, Aaron, both of Hawaii; Mother, Delia, Father Mario; and brother, Jacob all of Lozano,TX; Maternal grandparents, Andres and Concepcion Castanon of Harlingen, TX; uncles, Andres Castanon, Jr. of Harlingen, TX and Joel Diaz of Lozano, TX; aunts, Yolanda (Julio) Lopez of Rio Hondo, TX, Margaret Salinas of Harlingen, TX and Rachel (Christopher) Polanco of McAllen, TX; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews and other relatives.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Julian and Maria Diaz.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., today, Thursday December 9, 2004 with Funeral Services to begin at 3:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home Chapel A, 1400 West Hwy 77, San Benito, TX 78586 Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park, 26170 State Hwy 345, San Benito, TX 78586. military Honors will be conducted at the graveside.

Funeral Arrangements are under the care of San Benito Funeral Home, 1400 West Hwy 77, San Benito, Tx. 78586.

Frances H. Green

SAN ANTONIO, TX — Frances Hale Green, 75, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 in San Antonio,  Texas. She was born in Ranger,  Texas on January 19, 1929 to Elmer and Ellen M. Hale and raised on Chapman Ranch,  Texas. Frances was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Hale; brother, R.W. "Dick" Hale.

She is survived by her husband, Sam W. Green; sons, Sam W. Green III (Allison), and Michael Green; mother Ellen M. Hale; granddaughters, Melissa, Raiana; four great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held at Seaside Memorial Park on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at 12:00 noon.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Cancer Society, Shrine Crippled Children‘s Hospital, or charity of choice.

Esiquio Luna

SAN BENITO, TX — Esiquio Luna, 88, passed away on December 9, 2004 at his residence. He was born January 6, 1916 in Urhuapan, Mich. Mexico.

Mr. Luna was a life long resident and native of San Benito since 1918. He was a member of St. Benedict‘s Catholic Church; married his wife, "Chanita" in 1936. During his lifetime he worked for Cleveland Grocery‘s, H.E.B., Doan‘s Transport and Storage, and his last employer was with Valley Solvent and Chemicals.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Feliciana "Chanita" Luna; son, Ramiro Luna; his mother, Catarina Hernandez; and stepfather, Epemino Hernandez.

Mr. Luna is survived by a son, Esiquio "Zeke" (Andrea) Luna; daughter, Rosie Garcia; two grandsons, Jack L. Garcia and Eric Luna all of San Benito.

Visitation and rosary will be held on Friday, December 10, 2004 at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home Chapel from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the Holy Rosary recited at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 11, 2004 at St. Benedict‘s Catholic Church in San Benito. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearer will be Jack L. Garcia, Gilberto Ramos, Jose Saldivar, Santos de la Rosa, Samuel Garza, and Santiago Garcia. Honorary Pallbearer will be Juan Saldivar.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Thomae Garza Funeral Directors, San Benito,  Texas 399-1331.

Robert H. Renneker

COMBES, TX — Robert H. Renneker, 80, went to be with the Lord on December 8, 2004 at Valley Baptist Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Renneker; three sons, Robert H. Renneker, Jr., Wayne I. Renneker, Oscar J. Renneker, step-daughter, Marisa Bel Hearn and ex-wife, Lenore Renneker; son, John (Nancy) Renneker; two daughters, Jackie Warner and Winnie Renneker; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived are his sisters, Maxine, Betty and Pat.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Max.

Mr. Renneker worked for Bush Supply Co. and after his retirement he was employed at Johnny’s True Value for many years. "Bob" will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held today, December 10, 2004 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Mont Meta Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Pastor of Spirit of Praise in Harlingen. Interment will follow at Combes Cemetery in Combes, TX.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Robert H. Renneker, Jr., Wayne J. Renneker, Oscar J. Renneker, Bob Hanson, Aaron Warner and Michael Warner. J.W. Scoggin as Honorary Pallbearer.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Mont Meta Restlawn Cox Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider.
