Eunice E. Moss

PITTSBURG/HARLINGEN, TX — Eunice Esther Moss, 87, passed away Monday, December 20, 2004 at Pittsburg Nursing Center in Pittsburg,  Texas. He resided in Pittsburg,  Texas and was formerly of Harlingen, TX.

Mrs. Moss served as a Reserve Nurse in the Navy Nursing Corp., Member of the First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg, Graduated from Waldo High School and then Jeff Davis School of Nursing in 1937, Member of the Methodist Womens Society,  Texas Nurses Assocation.

Survivors include: her husband, King Moss of Pittsburg,  Texas; 4 sons, Scott and Lisa Moss of Farmersville, TX, King Moss II and Georgia Ann Moss of Mesquite, TX, Rodrick and Jackie Moss of Castroville, TX, Stanley D. and Beckie Moss of Virginia Beach, Virginia; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother, James Cooper of Waldo, Ark., and sisters, Lena Cochran of Fredericksburg, VA and Lorraine Murphy of Hope, Arkansas; other relatives include numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. James A. Cooper and Emma Lane Cooper.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Church Services will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at 2 p.m. and the Graveside service at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Dallas,  Texas at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 23, 2004.

Family will receive friends between 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the 1st United Methodist Church Pittsburg Organ Restoration Fund 109 College St. Pittsburg, TX 75686, or the charity of your choice.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home.

Bonny Wilburn

BROWNSVILLE, TX — Bonny Wilburn, 57, entered into rest at his home on Saturday, December 18, 2004 born in Yazoo City, Mississppi he resided in Brownsville,  Texas since 1978. He was employed with Pan American Bank now known as Chase Bank.

He served as Deacon at St. James Missionary Baptist Church and fellowshipped with many Christian Brothers from throughout the Valley, The full Gospel Business Men Assoc., The Rio Grande Valley Brotherhood Assoc., and The Ministral Alliance Assoc.

Bonny was a dialysis patient for over 20 years and an active patient advocate where he served as an active committe member both on the National and State Level. He was former President of The Lone Star Chapter of The American Kidney Foundation. Presently served as Board of Director and Secretary for The American Association of Kidney Patients and had recently been appointed to The Patient Advisory Committee for the Medical Review Board for The End Stage Renal Disease Network of  Texas.

Bonny is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. And Mrs. O.T. Wilburn; sister, Willie Earl Clifton.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Brenda Hargis Wilburn; two children, daughter, Tishun Timmons (Michael), son, Tyrone Wilburn and his only granddaughter, Sherise Timmons.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2004 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. to follow with a Home Going Service from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

The funeral procession will be on Thursday, December 23, 2004 at St. James Missionary Baptist Church 2634 Old Port Isabel Road at 11 a.m. with Interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Brownsville,  Texas. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

Esteban Fuentes

SANTA MARIA, TX — Esteban M. Fuentes, 84, passed away Sunday Dec. 26, 2004 at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his two sons, Armando and Felipe Fuentes and is survived by his wife, Ester C. Fuentes of Santa Maria; two sons, Gilberto Fuentes, Oscar (Carmen) Fuentes both of Santa Maria; a daughter, Margarita F. (Aaron) Leija of La Feria; two sisters, Victoria Fuentes of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, Maria del Jesus Fuentes of Allende, NL, Mexico. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mr. Fuentes will be held at his residence in Santa Maria beginning Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m., at St. Margaret Ann Catholic Church in Santa Maria, interment will follow at Cavazos Cemetery also In Santa Maria.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Garcia & Trevino Funeral Home of Mercedes.

Reuben L. Robles

DALLAS, TX — He was born January 20, 1962 in Harlingen,  Texas and passed away on December 16, 2004 in Dallas,  Texas.

He is survived by his parents, Sabas and Gregoria Robles; sister, Lydia Robles-Noyola and husband, Narciso; brother, Raul Robles and wife, Diana, all of Rio Hondo,  Texas; sister, Oralia R. Lopez and husband, Greg of Royse City,  Texas. He had four nieces, Elizabeth, April, Rachel, and Kim and three nephews, Michael, H. Luke, and G. Seth.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at  White Rock Community Church, 9353 Garland Road, Dallas,  Texas 75218, and in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the  White Rock Community Church or to your favorite charity in his memory.

Reuben was a 1980 graduate of Rio Hondo High School. Soon after graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served for three years. He moved to the Dallas area after his Honorable Discharge, where he worked in various retail and placement companies. His work ethic was admired by everyone who worked closely with him, and he was featured in various publications for his contributions to the Hispanic business community. He was active in community services and was recently honored with the Rafael Banda Award for his charitable contributions to various charities in the Dallas area.

He will be greatly missed.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Restland Funeral Home in Dallas,  Texas.

Mario Cisneros

OAK PARK, MI — Cisneros, Mario Hector, December 21, 2004, age 75, of Oak Park. Loving husband of Margaret Allan Cisneros. Dear father of Mario Stephen, Janet Caroline, Allan Thomas, and the late Robert John Cisneros. Devoted grandfather of Rachel and Ashleigh Phillips, Jordan Johnson, and Aaron Cisneros. Uncle of Jeannie (Noyola) Webb of Richardson,  Texas and Anthony Noyola of Kingsville,  Texas. Born March 26, 1929 in Raymondville,  Texas. Education: John Tarleton military School, the University of  Texas (BA), the University of Notre Dame, (LL.B.). He served his country in the armed forces in Korea as First Lieutenant and was awarded the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service. Moved to Detroit, Michigan where he met and married Margaret C. Allan on November 28, 1957. Before entering into private practice in 1967, he was an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Michigan. He was admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1967 and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the sixth Circuit in 1971. Throughout his lifetime he was involved with the Committee on Judicial Qualifiations for the State Bar of Michigan, Veterans of Foreign Wars, League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), Latin Americans United for Political Action (LAUPA), Most Holy Trinity Legal Clinic, Notre Dame Club of Detroit, Oakland County Association for Retarted Children, American Bar Association, American Arbitration Association, Knights of Columbus, Referee, Michigan Civil Rights Commission, American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), Board of Advisors for Providence Hospital.

His greatest passions in life were Notre Dame football, his Country and his family.

Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church Berkley, MI. Burial at  White Chapel Cemetery-Troy, MI.

Frances Pemelton

MERCEDES, TX — Frances Pemelton, 82, passed away at her home early Sunday morning, December 26, 2004.

A faithful member of the Church of Christ, she was born on December 28, 1921 in Clarkesville,  Texas to Jim and Essie Riley.

Mrs. Pemelton owned and operated an R.V. Park, The Vogue, for many years with her husband.

Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Paul Pemelton; sons, Billy Gene (Mischellene) Pemelton and James Pemelton; daughter, Paula Kay (Allen) Heggen all of Mercedes; one sister, Billie (Bill Joe) Ryan of Mercedes; and one sister-in-law, Janet Riley of McAllen; nine grandchildren, Bill Pemelton, Jr., Julie Cooke, Destiny and Laredo Pemelton, Kelly Pemelton, Jeff Pemelton, Austin Pemelton, Trent Heggen and Kristi Heggen-Elizondo; twelve great-grandchildren and devoted companion, Amelia Gonzales.

Mrs. Pemelton was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a friend to all who met her and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at at 10:00 AM at the Rudy Garza Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Minister Bill Roach officiating. Interment will follow at Ebony Grove Cemetery in Mercedes, TX.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Bill Pemelton, Jr., Kelly Pemelton, Jeff Pemelton, Trent Heggen, Austin Pemelton, Ben Elizondo and Vattell Cooke.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home of Mercedes,  Texas.

Leonor Delgado

MERCEDES, TX — Leonor Cervantes Delgado, 62, passed away to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 26, 2004 at Knapp Medical Center. She was born June 22, 1942 in Villa Jimenez Michoacan Mexico to Felipe and San Juana Campos.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Jose Salomon Campos and Juan Francisco Campos both of Dallas, TX; 3 daughters, Adriana Gonzalez, Aminta Cervantes both of Dallas, TX and Janie Cervantes of Mercedes, TX; 2 sisters, Isabell Orozco of Matamoros Tamps. and Anita Orozco of Michoacan Mexico. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren.

The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at Guerra Funeral Home of Weslaco — Chapel of The Angels with a 7:00 PM rosary.

There will be no funeral service the body will be cremated. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Arrangements are under the direction of Guerra Funeral Home of Weslaco, Inc., 2602 N.  Texas Ave., Weslaco, TX. (956) 969-1461.

Mary McCarty

HARLINGEN, TX — Mary Gertrude McCarty, age 91, went to be with our Lord on December 27, 2004, she had been a resident of Harlingen since 1924.

Later she married Raymond Lee McCarty and raised their family here. She was also involved with the Daughters of the American Revolution and a registered nurse. She was also a member of the N. 7th Street Church of Christ in Harlingen.

She is preceded in death by her father, Harry Hollembeak and her mother, Zenobia Laffite Hollembeak. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and aunt.

She is survivedby her beloved husband of 69 years, Raymond Lee McCarty; son, John McCarty and his wife, Louise; grandchildren, Diana M. Richards, Michael A. McCarty and his wife, Katie; four great grandchildren; nephews, Kevin Hollembeak, Harold Jr. "Bucky" Hollembeak, Terrance M. Norvell and niece, Camillia Novell Downes, and other nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at Mont Meta Restlawn Cox Funeral Home Chapel.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at Mont Meta Restlawn Cox Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria,  Texas.

Cristina Villalpando

BROWNSVILLE, TX — With great sorrow and pain we are releasing our beloved Mother and Grandmother, Maria Cristina Villalpando Ruiz at the age of 52 years into eternal rest with our Lord and Savior. She departed this earth on Friday, December 24, 2004 in San Antonio,  Texas due to a tragic automobile accident.

Our faith is our comfort for we feel sure that the Lord has her in his Peace and Glory. We know that she will continue to protect and guide us from heaven for we know she will continue to protect and guide us from heaven for we know she will always be with us spiritually and comfort us each day of our lives. We thank God our Savior for her life. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother who will be Dearly missed by all her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Manuel Villalpando; two brothers, Jose Villalpando and Julio Villalpando; and one sister, Dora Villalpando.

Mrs. Villalpando is survived by her loving family. Her mother, Teresa Villalpando; two daughters, Teresa (Raul) Marquez and Dora Melissa Salinas; five grandchildren, Raul Vasquez, Alan Marquez, Aldo Marquez, Cristina Banda and Samuel Barreda all of Brownsville,  Texas; three brothers, Jaime Villalpando of Brownsville, Salvador Villalpando of Austin, TX and Alejandro Villalpando of Matamoros Tamps., MX.

Visitations were held on Monday, December 27, 2004 and will also be held today, Tuesday, December 28, 2004 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Guerra Funeral Home "Chapel of Angels".

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2004. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Guerra Funeral Home of Brownsville, 3955 Coffee Port Rd. (956) 544-1171.

Mrs. Kathryn Kirksey McArver

HARLINGEN, TX — It is with sadness that the family and friends of Katie must advise of her passing on the evening of Christmas Day, December 25, 2004. Family and other loved ones were at her bedside when she passed quietly into her spiritual world at her home in Harlingen,  Texas. She was a special person and all that knew her will agree their life has been blessed by being a part of her life.

She is survived by a brother, Garrett W. Kirksey of Virginia and numerous nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her special friends, Don Giffin and Pam Riepen of Harlingen who dedicated so much of their time and attention to her comforts and needs during her illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack R. McArver; her brothers, James W. Kirksey, Jr. (Margaret) and Elton Kirksey; and her sister, Bettye Kirksey Scott.

The family wants to extend its appreciation to Father David Reed and Reverend Judy Sessions, Janie Ruiz, Ruby Navarrette and Rosemary Garcia for their special gift of loving care during Katie‘s illness, and to Lazaro Hurtado, Librada Zamora and Bea Dominguez who devoted years of service and devotion to Katie.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at St. Alban‘s Episcopal Church in Harlingen at 10 a.m. with Father David Reed and Reverend Judy Sessions officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Alban‘s Episcopal Church, where Katie was a member and served in the in the Altar Guild, 1417 E. Austin, Harlingen,  Texas 78550, to the Sandi Jo Funk Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2588, Harlingen,  Texas 78551 and to the South  Texas Animal Sanctuary, 1505 N. Conway, Mission,  Texas 78572.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.

Anna Lewis Blaskowsky

SAN BENITO, TX — Anna Lewis Blaskowsky, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 26, 2004, in New Braunfels,  Texas. She was born May 7, 1920, in Sesser, Illinois, to Otis and Nellie Lewis.

They preceded her in death, as did her siblings Sidney, Vivian, and Peggy. Anna‘s husband of 62 years, Andrew Blaskowsky, also preceded her in death in 2000.

Dearly loved by all, Anna is survived by her two sons and their families: Don Andrew and wife Linda of New Braunfels, and Ray Douglas and wife Barbara of San Benito. "Grandma" (aka "Memaw") will be missed by her grandchildren and great grandchildren Kristin (Bryce) Tumlinson and Lindsey of New Braunfels; Keith Andrew (Kelly) Blaskowsky and Ariel and Amber of Keller; Kara (Ruben) Gonzales of San Antonio; Douglas (Cindy) Blaskowsky and Erik of Forney; and Bryan (Sarah) and Alayna Blaskowsky of Denton; also by step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren Rebecca (Randall) Hibbs and K.C. and Garrett of College Station, and Catherine (Elpy) Garcia and Thomas of Dallas.

Surviving siblings that admired and loved their older sister include Howard (Joyce) Lewis, Wesley (Marilyn) Lewis, and Pat (Bernard) Engel, all of California. Also surviving with fond memories of their "Aunt Anna" are numerous nieces and nephews in  Texas and California, including Bunny Burns of Mission, Autherine (Veldon) Houts of Whitney, and Gearhart (Doris) Drachenberg of Harlingen.

Anna grew up in the Raymondville/Hargill area and was a homemaker for many years. She rivaled the Colonel with her butter fried chicken and pleased one and all with her chocolate chip cookies. Anna and her husband Andy owned and operated with pride Moxley Cleaners in San Benito from 1964 until their retirement in 1986.

The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation to Anna‘s faithful caregivers, Henry Thomae Funeral Home, and many friends who expressed their kindness during this difficult time, especially those at Baptist Temple, San Benito.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at Mont Meta Memorial Park under the direction of Henry Thomae Funeral Home, 701 N. Bowie, San Benito. 399-9992.

Pedro "Chore" B. Lara

Harlingen — Pedro "Chore" B. Lara, 72, entered into rest on January 1, 2005 at La Hacienda Nursing Center in Harlingen, TX. Mr. Lara was born on October 26, 1932 in Yorktown, TX. Mr. Lara was a longtime resident of Harlingen and was employed with the Hygeia Diary Company for 40 years until he retired in 1995.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leandro and Dolores Lara; three brothers, Jesus, Elijio and Catarino Lara.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Desidora "Lile" Lara; children, Hector (Barbara) Lara, Sylvia (Baldemar) Garza, Norma (Jose Luis) Guardiola, Mary (Justo) Trevino, Angelica (Jesus) Valladares and Luis (Mari) Lara all of Harlingen, TX. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, Peter (Dolly) Guardiola, Zeke (Stella) Trevino, Tomas (Jennifer) Garza, Daniel Trevino, Ma. Dolores (Freddy) Guardiola, Armando Trevino, Monica Garza, Jay Valladares, Eloy Valladares, Marie Lara, Luis Lara, Jr., Marco Antonio Lara, Angel Lara and Mariana Lara; one great-grandchild, Adrian Guardiola; sisters, Marianita Vela, Maria Velasquez; brother, Felipe Lara and one special niece that kept him going this long, Kelly Ayiza Ramirez who called him Grandpa Pete.

Visitation will be held today, Sunday, January 2, 2005 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace with the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m. The funeral procession will depart the Rudy Garza Funeral Home on Monday, January 3, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. for a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Combes Cemetery in Combes, TX.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Trevino, Tomas Garza, Jesus Valladares, Jr., Eloy Valladares, Armando Trevino and Pedro Guardiola.

Pedro is in good hands and in a peaceful place with the Lord. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home of Harlingen.
