Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 7, 2005 at 10 a.m. at McCaleb Funeral Home Chapel in Weslaco. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.

Terry Cooke
HARLINGEN, TX — Terry Wayne Cooke was born on November 28, 1955 in Harlingen, Texas to Etta Ruth Mullican Cooke and Melvin Jack Cooke, Sr. Following his mother‘s remarriage when he ws in high school, he became the stepson of Sydney Pinkston.
Terry became a Registered Nurse and spent most of his medical Career in the Rehabilitation field working in the San Antonio and Kerrville area.
Terry is survived by loving family members: his mother, Etta Ruth and step-father, Sydney Pinkston of New Braunfels; brother, Melvin Jack (Pat) Cooke of Harlingen; nieces, Cathy (Jeff) Wynn and Jennifer Cooke of Harlingen and Michelle and Michael O. Cooke III; great nieces and nephews, Chanise, Jaedon Amaryst and Camdon Wynn; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves behind many good friends.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Jack Cooke, Sr. and his brother, Michael Owen Cooke.
There will be a visitation held today from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m at Henry Thomae Funeral Home Chapel in San Benito.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria.

Luther Earl Tisdale
WESLACO, TX — Luther Earl Tisdale, 84, passed away January 2, 2005 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco. He was born June 24, 1920 near Richland, New Mexico to Emmett Earl Tisdale and Nellie May (Davis) Tisdale.
The family moved to Texas in the late 20‘s because of the health of his sister. Luther graduated from Weslaco High School in 1939. He was drafted into the Army on September 21, 1941. He served eleven days with the Army, after which the Army Air Corps, (Air Force), was formed and he chose to enlist with the Air Corp. Being stationed at Sheppard Field, he earned his Airframe and Engine license. He went on to attend the Boeing Aircraft School, participating in the production of the B-17 Bomber. He was stationed in England for two years as a member of the 350th bomb squadron, the 100 Bomb Group, also known as "The Bloody 100th". He participated in campaigns of Central Europe, Rhineland, Ardennes, Northern France, and the Normandy Air Offensive, earnings citations for EAME Campaign Medal with six bronze stars, the distinguished unit badge with one oak leaf cluster, the Good Conduct Medal and the American Defense Service Medal. After four years in service, he was discharged as a Master Sergeant. Luther attended the Spartan School of Aeronautics and Engineering, earning his aeronautics and engineering license. He went to work for the U.S. Postal Service in Weslaco from which he retired after twenty nine years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons and spending time with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Gene Tisdale.
Luther is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irene Bunger Tisdale; sons, David Tisdale of Lewisville, TX, Randy (Dawn Engleman) Tisdale of Weslaco; and daughter, Linda (Mal) Sneed of Moorings Port, LA. Also surviving are his grandchildren, S. Sgt. Max Tisdale USMC, Tiffany Tisdale, Joanie Tisdale, Jason Tisdale, Jessica Tisdale, Nichole (Jeremy) Scates, Courtney Sneed; and great grandchildren, Megan Tisdale, Lacie McCaffery and Will McCaffery.
Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, January 5, 2005 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at McCaleb Funeral Home Chapel in Weslaco.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2005 at 10 a.m., at McCaleb Funeral Home Chapel in Weslaco. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Mario Perez, Pastor of Mid Valley Assembly of Weslaco. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco. military graveside rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post #8788 of McAllen.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Tisdale, Max Tisdale, Frank Krause, Dan Silva, Robert Reed, and Joe LaDuke.

Ruth Faxon
1917-2004
HARLINGEN, TX — Ruth Faxon, a longtime resident of Palm Valley, passed away on December 31 while visiting her son, Kurt and his family in Savannah, Georgia. She was 87.
Ruth moved to Harlingen in 1980 with her husband, Bob. Ruth cherished her time in Palm Valley and was an active member of the community. She was a member of the Harlingen Country Club, where she played bridge weekly and she was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church. Also, she was a member of Chapter FY of P.E.O.
Born in 1917 in Iowa, Ruth later graduated from Grinnell College with honors and went on two raise two sons.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Bob in 1991. She is survived by two loving sons: Kurt and Richard Faxon. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church at 10 a.m., Monday, January 10, 2005. Memorial donations may be made to either the Union Congregational Church of Hackensack, MN or the First Methodist Church of Harlingen, TX.
Adam T. Alexander
HARLINGEN, TX — On January 4, 2004 Our littlest angel Adam Taylor Alexander, 3 months, went back to Heaven to be with our Lord in his heavenly kingdom.
He was very observant and curious always bringing many joyous moments to his family. Even though his time was cut short with us his beautiful smile will live in our hearts forever.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Jonathan Taylor Alexander; and his grandfathers: Alfredo Gomez and Alfred Alexander.
He is survived by his parents, Alfred Alexander and Rosa Gomez; 1 brother, Zachary Taylor Alexander; maternal grandmother, Guadalupe Gomez; paternal grandmother, Carmen Rosales; also several uncles, aunts and cousins.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 6, 2005, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with prayer of the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.
Funeral mass of christian burial will be held Friday, January 7, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. Interment will follow to Ashland Memorial Park Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be uncles, Manuel Gomez and George Gomez.

Annie Mae Smith
HOUSTON, TX — Annie Mae Smith, 93, passed away recently in Houston, Texas. Annie was born June 12, 1911, in Donna, Texas, one of six children of Herschal and Minnie Mae Noblett.
She lived in La Feria 90 years, moving to Houston in 2003 when her health began to fail. She worked for many years as a medical assistant to Doctor Oscar Hamilton in Harlingen.
Annie‘s husband, William Franklin Smith, passed away in 1958.
Annie is survived by her daughter, Ila Rae White; son-in-law, Leland White; grandsons and their families, Clay and Andrea White and children Justin, Samantha, Garrett, and Amy, of Houston; and Joel and Cari White and children, Joshua and Hanna, of Bakersfield, California. Also surviving is her brother, Jim Noblett and his wife, Marie of La Feria; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Service will be held for Annie Mae Smith on Saturday, January 8, 2005, at 10 AM, in the Garza Palms Funeral Home Chapel in La Feria.
Margarita M. Villarreal
SAN BENITO, TX — Margarita M. Villarreal, 93, entered into the Lord‘s House on January 4, 2005 at Harlingen Medical Center.
Margarita was preceded in death by her loving husband, Francisco Villarreal; daughter, Maria Elena Dominguez; son, Reynaldo Villarreal, son, Guadalupe Villarreal.
She is survived by her loving sons, Domingo (Hortencia) Villarreal, Jose Luis (Fidela) Villarreal, Horacio (Maria Elena) Villarreal, Samuel (Maria Irene) Villarreal, Armando (Emma) Villarreal, Efrain (Virginia) Villarreal and Domingo Jr (Melissa) Villarreal; her loving daughters, Olivia (Felix) Sanchez, Rosalinda (Martin,deceased) Ramirez, Maria Gloria (Tano Jr) Mercado, and Alicia (James) Villarreal; numerous loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m., today, Thursday, January 6, 2005, at San Benito Funeral Home with Rosary service at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 7, 2005, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in San Benito with interment to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Patsy McElwain Tipton
HARLINGEN, TX — Patsy Jean Tipton, 74, of California passed away November 2, 2004 after a long illness. Born November 19, 1929 to Agusta and Edith Lightfoot, she was raised in Harlingen.
In her earlier years, she worked as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell, Sears and Roebuck and The Tuberculosis Hospital in Harlingen.
Her daughter, Carolyn Avants Lightle preceded her in death.
Her husband, Jean A. Tipton; son, Arthur D. Mc Elwain; daughter, Pelma Mc Ewain Carrell; several Brothers and Sisters, survives her.
She had numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren with one more on the way.
Before her illness she gave her time helping people with Alzheimers.
She is loved and will be greatly missed by everyone she touched.
Private services were held on November 7, 2004. Donations can be made to the Hospice or Scleroderma Foundations in your area.

Capt. Walter Allen Brooks USN (Ret.)
LA FERIA, TX — Walter Allen Brooks, previously of La Feria, passed away at his home in Plano, Texas on Tuesday, December 28, 2004.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 29, 2005 at the Harbor Point Community Church in Plano at 11:00 AM.
Walter Brooks was born January 4, 1928 in Santa Rosa to Comer and Eunice Brooks. He graduated as class valedictorian from La Feria High School in 1945. After attending the University of Texas he was selected to the U. S. Naval Academy, graduating in 1952. His Naval career spanned 27 years and included selection as one of the first nuclear submariners. His commands included the U.S.S. Thomas Edison and the U.S.S. Canopus.
He retired as a Captain in 1979, and spent his years in Plano, Texas, hunting as often as possible.
Walter was preceded in death by his sister Hazel.
He is survived by wife, Betty Ledbetter Brooks; daughter, Beth Hall; son, Walter Brooks, Jr.; daughter, Laura Umphress; brother, Ralph Brooks of La Feria; sister, Millie Hudson of Tyler; and grandchildren, Nathan, Evan and Lauren.
Stanton Sponsler
BOERNE, TX — Stanton Sponsler, of Boerne, died January 4, 2005 at the North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio after a short illness.
He is preceded in death by his father, Amick Sponsler and mother, Marie Stanton Sponsler.
He is survived by his wife, Ila Sponsler and 5 children: Fawn Ames of Corpus Christi, Texas, Susan Beck of Highlands Ranch, CO, Henry Sponsler of Los Fresnos, Texas, Donald Sponsler of Uvalde, Texas and Wendy Simpson of Los Fresnos, Texas; and Nine Grandchildren. Also, two sisters, Lenore Warden of Gilmer, Texas and Nancy Byram of Bandera, Texas.
He was born in Muskogee, OK, Aug. 27, 1931. He moved to Houston and graduated form Milby High School. Served 4 years in the Air Force, Settled in the Rio Grande Valley as a farmer, electrician and cotton gin owner. After Retiring he did volunteer work with the Texas Baptist Men. Stanton then moved to Boerne, Texas in 1997 where he was a member of the Boerne First Baptist Church and Gideons.
A Memorial Service will be held in Boerne at Vaughan‘s Funeral Home, Thursday, January 6, 2005, at 4:00 PM and then on Saturday, January 8, 2005, in Los Fresnos at the First Baptist Church at 11:00 AM. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Vaughan‘s Funeral Home of Boerne.
Marvin E. Harbour
HARLINGEN/SEGUIN, TX — Marvin Eugene Harbour, age 91, of Seguin, formerly of Harlingen, passed away on January 5, 2005 in Seguin.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 8, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Goetz Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dr. Brice Mandaville officiating. Private entombment will follow later at Mont Meta Memorial Park Mausoleum in San Benito.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 7, 2005, from 2 to 9 p.m. at Goetz Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 4 to 7 p.m.
Marvin was born on August 31, 1913 in Brownwood, Texas to Henry Edgar and Kate Ross Brown Harbour.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Willie Adell Gore Harbour; his parents and brother, Henry H. Harbour.
Survivors include son, Eugene Harbour and wife, Doris; daughter, Kathleen Roach and husband, Robert; grandchildren, Douglas Harbour and wife, Lauren, Linda Fallin and husband, Jimmy, Matthew Roach and wife, Leigh, Melodie Cunningham and husband, Ray and Mindy Clark and husband, Jack; sister, Helen Hampton; 13 great-grandchildren; many loving friends.
