James Franklin Chisum, 86 passed away Thursday morning at a local nursing home.
Funeral services were held Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Jayton,  Texas officiated by
Rev. David Jones. Burial followed in the Jayton Cemetery under the direction of McCoy
Funeral Home of Aspermont.
Mr. Chisum was born August 3, 1918 in Wingate,  Texas. He married Sammie Johnson
November 28, 1947 in Aspermont,  Texas. Mr. Chisum was a WWII Veteran and was a
Baptist.
Mr. Chisum was a former Kent County Deputy, Water superintendent, and a self-employed
mechanic.
Survivors include his wife Sammie Chisum of Aspermont,  Texas, daughter Cecelia Gardner
and husband Carey of Aspermont,  Texas, sons Zedrick Chisum and wife Sue of Aspermont,
 Texas and George Chisum and wife Penny of Jayton,  Texas, 9 grandchildren and 8
great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family request donation to Kent County Nursing Home.

The family and friends of Chris Witt Sides gathered together to celebrate her life on
Friday, June 3, 2005 at the Monterey Church of Christ in Lubbock,  Texas. Darrel
McMillen, Don Linscott and Ray Bailey officiated. The graveside memorial was held at
the Crosbyton Cemetery, under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Lavanda Christine Witt was born on March 3, 1930 in Spur,  Texas to Lois David and
Emma Austin Witt. She graduated from Spur High School in 1947. Spur was her home
for many years before moving to Lubbock in 1968. She retired from a 15 year career with
the IRS to begin her second and much loved career selling real estate. Chris has been a
realtor in Lubbock for the past 14 years. In 1984 Chris found a church home at the
Monterey Church of Christ. After a lengthy illness Chris left this life on May 31.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lois and Emma Witt, a grandson, Lance
Linscott, a sister, Patsy Kingsbury and a nephew, David Kingsbury.
Those she left include, a daughter, Connie Carlisle Linscott of Peachtree City, Georgia,
a son Kenny Carlisle of Lubbock, three grandchildren, Kellie Linscott VanLeuvan of
Atlanta, Georgia, Kit Carlisle Womble of Sweetwater,  Texas, Kandi Carlisle of Lubbock,
a sister Velma Matthews of Artesia, New Mexico, a brother George Witt and his wife
Sandra of Lubbock, a special friend, Tom Sides of Lubbock and many nieces and
nephews. Pallbearers were Drew VanLeuvan, Neil Prather, Brady Wheeler, Doug
Kingsbury, Bruce Gillit and Mark Kast.
Family member suggest memorial to the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes
Foundation or the building fund of the Monterey Church of Christ.

Funeral services for Bill Hemphill, 78, of Roaring Springs were held Saturday June 4,
2005 at the Roaring Springs Full Gospel Church with Rickey Lawrence officiating.
Interment was in the Roaring Springs Cemetery under the direction of Seigler Funeral
Home of Matador.
Mr. Hemphill passed away Tuesday May 31, 2005 at his residence near Roaring Springs.
Bill was born June 5, 1926 in Dickens,  Texas to James Hartford Hemphill and Edna Davis
Hemphill. He had worked for the 6666 ranch for 20 years retiring as Wagon Boss. Bill was
married to Anna Florine Thornton on December 22, 1947 at Matador,  Texas. She preceded
him in death on May 8, 2000. Mr. Hemphill was a resident of Roaring Springs since
August of 1991. He was a member of the Church of Christ and was a veteran of the U.S.
Army.
Survivors include two sons, Billy ‘Boo’ Hempbill of Roaring Springs,  Texas, and Bobby
Hemphill of Magnolia, TX, one daughter, Becky Marley of Carlsbad, N.M., sisters, Ila
Daniels of Fort Worth, TX Glen Smith of Monahans, TX, and, Elva Clay of
Dickens, TX, two brothers, Tommy Hemphill of Blossom, TX, J.E. Hemphill of
Peacock, TX, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside Services for Faye Bennett Wilcher, 86, of Lubbock were held Saturday
June 4, 2005 at the Afton Cemetery in Afton,  Texas under the direction of Seigler Funeral
Home of Matador. Mrs. Wilcher passed away early Thursday at the Manna Acres Care
Center in Lubbock.
Faye was born August 29, 1918 in Lubbock,  Texas to James and Erie Hutson Robinson.
She was raised in Wichita Falls, TX and graduated from Hardin Simmons University. She
was a grade school teacher for the Patton Springs School District with over 25 years of
service. Faye married Ralph Bennett in 1942 they made their home in North Dickens
County where they farmed, ranched, and raised their children. Ralph preceded her in death
in 1974. She later married Harding Wilcher in 1975 and made their home in Possum
Kingdom Lake for 20 years. Mr. Harding preceded her in death in 1977. She had been a
resident of Lubbock for the past 10 years. Mrs. Wilcher was an active member of the
Midway Baptist Church near afton and later the Graford Baptist Church where she taught
Sunday school and played the piano. She was preceded in death by her son Jack in 1984.
Survivors include one son Jimmy Bennett and wife Sandra of Ballinger,  Texas, one
daughter Cheryl Brummett and husband Craig of Lubbock,  Texas five grandchildren, Bo
Bennett, Buffi Awtry, Stuart Brummett, Nathan Brummett, Rebekah Kerby, and five
great-grandchildren
The family has suggested memorials to Stuart Brummett in care of Craig Brummett
2706 82nd Street Lubbock,  Texas 79423 who is doing missionary services in Uganda,
Africa and will see that the contributions go to a needy family or child there.

Willard Wayne Ogle, 84, of San Angelo went home to be with the Lord Monday, May 30, 2005.
Willard was born in Wichita Falls,  Texas on October 14, 1920 to Lilburn Charles Ogle and Lizzie
Mae Ethridge Ogle. Willard served five years in the U.S. Army Air Corp and received many awards
and medals including a Purple Heart. Willard was a teacher for 33 years. He taught many years
around the Lubbock area, and he worked his last 17 years before retirement at Lakeview High
School here in San Angelo. He was a very active member of the Edmund Boulevard Baptist Church
until he became ill. He was also a member of the local VFW, DAV and the Business Men’s Bible
class from 1966 to present and was a past president.
Willard was preceded in death by his parents, one sister George Ann Hansard and one son Ronald
Wayne Ogle.
Willard is survived by three daughters Laquetta Romero of Phoenix, Arizona, Jo Ann Steller of Post,
 Texas, Marsha (Martie) Ahlefeld of Wichita, Kansas, one son Sidney Ogle of San Angelo,  Texas,
brother Lilburn Forest Ogle of San Angelo,  Texas, sister Janice Ogle of Manassas, Virginia, and
close friend Faye Ogle of Post,  Texas16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, one great-great
grandchild.
Funeral Service were held Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at the Edmond Boulevard Baptist Church with
Darrel Smith officiating. military honors and burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Dixie Pullen, of Midland,  Texas passed away Thursday, May 26, 2005.
She was born January 27, 1921 in Dickens County,  Texas and was raised and educated there.
On October 11, 1954, she married Elzy L. Pullen in Crosbyton,  Texas. The couple had been
residents of Midland since 1961. Dixie was a member of Cuthbert and Austin Street Church of
Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Maggie Garrett.
Dixie is survived by her husband, Elzy L. Pullen, her children, James Coy Murray and his wife,
Sylvia, Ronnie W. Murray and his wife, Shirley, Betty Pickens and her husband, Jimmy, Tom
Murray and his wife, Sandy, Linda Gallagher and her husband, Gary, Larry Pullen, Jerry L.
Pullen and his wife, Kathy, brother, Wade L. Roberts, sisters, Loreen Brantley and Carlee Pierce,
nineteen grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 28, 2005 at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel in Midland.
Interment followed at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements were under the direction of Ellis
Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy. Midland,  Texas.

Billy Wayne Stanaland, 59, died Sunday, May 29, 2005 in Stonewall Memorial Hospital.
Services were held Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at the Assembly of God Church in Jayton. Burial
followed in Jayton Cemetery directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home, Rotan.
Born November 27, 1945 in Rotan, Billy Wayne was a son of the late Wayne and Grace
(Huchingson) Stanaland. He graduated from Jayton High School, Cisco Junior College and
 Texas A&M with a degree in agriculture. Billy Wayne was a former Deputy Sheriff of Kent
County and was currently a farmer and rancher. He lived in Belize Central America for several
years and operated a water buffalo ranch. Because of this, he was often called “Buffalo Bill”.
He loved driving his tractor, coon hunting, and raising pigs. Billy Wayne was an excellent
football player in his earlier years. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents and one daughter (Sher Lynn Stanaland).
Survivors include two sons, Clay Stanaland of Provo, Utah and Cody Stanaland of La Pesca,
Mexico, one daughter and son-in-law, Shana and Tony Hall of Jayton, two brothers and
sisters-in-law, Bobby and Roberta Stanaland of Rankin, TX, and Tommy and Lenora Stanaland
of Jayton, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rita and Garry Holder of Andrews and LaDonna and
DeWayne Nix of Lubbock, two grandchildren, Shelby Stanaland and Bailey Hall, and special
friends in Belize he considered family.

Services for Sandra Tagle, 53, of Spur were held Saturday, May 21, 2005 at First Baptist
Church in Spur with Revs. Bob Wright and Tommy Henderson officiating. Burial followed in
Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.
She died Thursday, May 19, 2005 in Spur.
Sandra was born January 30, 1952 in Lubbock to Rawleigh and Mary Pearson Adcock. She
graduated from Patton Springs High School 1970. She married Paul Tagle in Spur. He preceded
her in death May 31, 2001. She was the Municipal Judge in Spur and also worked as a corrections
officer at the Dickens County Correctional Center.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Richard Adcock.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Jolene Adcock and Jessie Garcia of Spur, two
grandsons, Andrew Adcock and Gabriel Garcia, one granddaughter, Maria Garcia, four brothers,
Michael Adcock of Lubbock, Terry Adcock of Spur, Jerry Adcock of Howe and Kevin Adcock
of Mineola, and four sisters, Marilyn  Taylor of Spur, Donna Powell and Cindy Atkinson both of
Colorado City and Laurie Garcia of Ralls

Marcia Joy Copeland, 66, of Bentonville went home to be with the Lord on May 14, 2005 in
Little Rock, Arkansas.
She was born in Sandwich, Illinois on January 9, 1939 to Russell and Barbara Hartman Bowen.
She moved with her family to Sugar Creek Ranch in 1956. She worked in Rogers at First
National Bank and Wendl-Sonis.
On April 14, 1972, Marcia married Joe Copeland of Spur,  Texas.
Marcia was a member of Brightwater Memorial United Methodist Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Joe of Bentonville, a daughter, Jodie Copeland of Wichita Falls,
 Texas, stepdaughters, Susan Castleberry and husband, Doug of Edna,  Texas, Dana Young of
Spur and Deana Troxtell of Spur, a brother Bruce Bowen and wife, Jeannie of Rogers and a
sister, Elsie Reynolds and husband, Darrell of Bentville. She is also survived by two grandchildren
and several nieces and nephews. Marcia will be sadly missed by her family and her many friends.
Memorials in her name may be made to the Arkansas Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, 6213
Lee Avenue, Little Rock Arkansas, 72205 or to your favorite hometown charity. Cards may be
mailed to 10760 Sugar Creek Road, Bentonville, Arkansas 72712.
