LOS LAURELES/LOS FRESNOS, TX — Feliciana Castro Bravo, passed away peacefully at her home early on the morning of Monday, April 25, 2005. She was born in San Pedro Iturbide, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on December 23, 1923, she was 81. Lifetime resident of Los Laureles, and Los Fresnos area.

Visitation for her will begin on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary scheduled for 7 p.m. in the North Chapel.

A Funeral procession will depart from the funeral home on Thursday, April 28, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. for a 10 a.m. funeral mass at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Los Fresnos,  Texas with interment to follow at Los Cuates Community Cemetery.

She is survived by 6 daughters, Teresa B. Rojas, Los Laureles, TX, Aracelia B. Jaimes, Florida, Mary Lou Bravo, Los Laureles, TX, Rosalva Bravo Valdez, Florida, Hilda Bravo Torres, Florida, and Gloria B. Guerrero, San Benito, TX; 4 sons, Israel Bravo, Los Fresnos, TX, Jose Bravo, Jr., Los Laureles, TX, Javier C. Bravo, Los Laureles, TX, and Juan Manuel Bravo, Los Laureles, TX; 2 brothers, Cristobal Castro, Matamoros, Tamps. Mexico, and Pedro Castro, Iturbide, N.L. Mexico; 2 sisters, Hermelinda Castro, Iturbide, N.L. Mexico, and Mariana Castro, Iturbide, N.L. Mexico; 35 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her spouse, Jose Bravo Rodriguez; and her parents, Simon and Mariana Sustita Castro.

Pallbearers will be Israel Bravo, Jose Bravo, Jr., Javier C. Bravo, Juan Manuel Bravo, Wenceslao Rojas, and Cleto Bravo.

Funeral services are under the direction of Thomae Garza Funeral Home.

Haley Remy

HARLINGEN, TX — Haley (O‘Keeffe) Remy, 33, and baby David Zane Remy, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2005 in Cement, OK.

Haley was born on June 17, 1971 in Harlingen,  Texas to Lloyd Wayne O‘Keeffe, Jr. and Janet  Johnson Magee. She was a life long resident of Harlingen until recently moving to Cement, OK. She was a graduate of University Prepatory School in Harlingen, a member of the Assembly of God Church in Cement, OK and faithful to her Thursday night Bible Study group.

Haley is survived by her husband, Jeff Remy; grandmother, Claudette O‘Keefe; mother, Janet Magee; step-father, John Magee; children, Natalie Groves, John Groves, Quinn Fidler, Logan Fidler and Riley Catlett; sisters, JoAnne (Seth) Gillen and Leslie Magee.She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Wayne O‘Keeffe, Jr.; grandfather, Lloyd Wayne O‘Keeffe, Sr.; and grandparents, Ross and Mary Johnson.

Visitation hours will be held from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, April 28, 2005 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.

Graveside funeral services will be held at Mont Meta Memorial Park, 3 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2005 with the Rev. Ron Corzine officiating.

Following the services family and friends are invited to gather for fellowship at the Christian Fellowship Church, 827 E. Vinson Rd., Harlingen,  Texas.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Tanamachi, James Lacy, Joe Lacy, Jeff Lacy, Kevin Catlett, Roy Salazar and Moose Miller.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions may be made to Blue Sunday Child Abuse Prevention Initiative, P.O. Box 730, Port Isabel, TX 78578.

Haley is at peace now and her bright sense of humor and generous heart will be missed.

Suzanne R. Rich

AUSTIN, TX — Suzanne Rapier-Rich at the age of 64 years old passed away on April 24th of ovarian cancer. She died surrounded by family and friends.

Suzanne recently moved to Austin to be near her children and grandchildren. She and her ex-husband, Arnold B. Rich, and children moved to the Rio Grande Valley from New Orleans, LA in 1965. While raising their children, Suzanne worked as a Registered Nurse and Licensed Masters Social Worker. She worked at various hospitals including Dolly Vinsant, Brownsville Medical Center and Valley Baptist Medical Center. Most of her work experience was as a school nurse at Los Fresnos C.I.S.D. for 17 years and at Tropical  Texas Center for MHMR for 5 years. She served on boards and held administrative positions in the ANA/ Texas Nurses Association and was a member of  Texas School Nurses Association and Social Workers association. Suzanne was a kind and caring nurse and social worker who loved her patients, co-workers and work.

Her parents William and Christine Rapier preceded Suzanne in death.

She is survived by her three children, Alice (Rob) Phillips, Amy (Tim) Rich-Dowdle, Charles Rich and six grandchildren, Hilary and Will Russell, Emma and Anna Phillips, Peyton Dowdle and  Taylor Rich, all of Austin, TX. She is also survived by two sisters and one brother, Margaret "Peggy" (Esnard) Gremillion of Baton Rouge, LA, William "Bill" (Beckie) Rapier of Bon Secour, AL and Christine "Christy" (Peter) Hendon of Georgetown, IN and eight nieces and nephews and twelve grandnieces and nephews.

Suzanne was loved by many friends but three stood out as especially close, Gracie Trevino, Emily Abbott and Lillian Jacobsen.

A viewing-rosary will be held from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Angel Funeral Home on S. 1st Street followed by a funeral mass on April 26th at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church on Convict Hill in Austin, TX. Burial will follow at a later date at the family plot at Cypress Grove Cemetery in New Orleans, LA.

In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice Austin or Interfaith Care Alliance.

Caleb Jason Clark

HARLINGEN, TX — Once our Baby to Hold and Kiss and now our Angel to Love and Miss. Baby Caleb Jason Clark, two months old, went to be with our Lord on April 25, 2005 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. Baby Clark will be greatly missed by his loving family.

He is survived by his parents, Jocelynn Cuellar and Jason Clark; brothers, Julian and Joshua Clark; sisters, Ariel and Alyssa Clark; grandparents, great grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a Chapel Service at 11:00 a.m. at Mont Meta Restlawn Cox Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria, TX.

Miqueas Vargas, Sr.

HARLINGEN, TX — Miqueas Vargas Sr., 76, entered the Lord‘s Heavenly Kingdom Thursday April 28, 2005 surrounded by the loving embrace of his family. He was born April 19, 1929 in Malacoff, TX to his parents the late Rafael and Rafaela Vargas. Miqueas retired from the City of Harlingen after 35 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Ines, Victoriano, Daniel and Timoteo Vargas.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Teodora A. Vargas; son, Ebethier (B.T.) Vargas and his wife, Delia, daughter, Elizabeth V. Lopez, son, Miqueas Jr. and his wife, Raquel all of Harlingen, daughter, Estella V. Ramos and her husband, Roberto of La Feria; grandchildren, Micah III, Matthew, Amaris, Roxanne, Jeanette, Clarissa Delle Vargas, Vanessa Jimenez, Monique and Danielle Ramos; brothers, Pablo, Jose Isabel, and Manuel Vargas; sister, Juana B. Vargas all of Harlingen, numerous nieces and nephews.

Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?

Visitation will be held today beginning at 9:00 AM at First Christian Life Center Church, 206 W. Filmore, Harlingen until service time [2:00 PM] with Rev. Tadeo Cano Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Honored to be pallbearers will be Ebethier (B.T.) Vargas, Miqueas Vargas Jr., Micah Vargas III, Matthew Vargas, Abel Villarreal, Robert Ramos and Hector Escareno.

James E. King

RAYMONDVILLE, TX — In loving memory of our father, James (Jim) Edward King who went to be with the Lord on April 26, 2005.

Dad was born on November 4, 1928 in Virginia, Minnesota. Dad was a devoted and loving husband to Charlotte May Dooner for forty-seven years and together they raised nine grateful children. Dad was a wonderful provider for our family and he often worked multiple jobs to support us. Along with his regular job as a welder in the boilemakers‘ union, he forged a part time career as a musician by forming his own musical bands and performing his unique style of music.

Dad was very sociable and he enjoyed giving of himself by sharing his vocal and musical gifts with others. A self-taught musician, as a young man Dad learned to play the acoustic guitar, bass guitar, piano, harmonica, and accordion. Dad loved to entertain family and friends with a wide variety of songs including his signature tunes, "Pickles" and "Horsey Keep Your Tail Up.

Dad was an avid fisherman and he also loved to cook, travel, dance, camp, and hunt.

Dad lived in Harlingen,  Texas for the last eight years where he had many friends who knew and loved him, especially his very good friend Shirley Brown. Dad was a member of the Harlingen Elks Lodge #1889. He also supported the San Benito Elks Lodge #1661 and the San Benito V.F.W. Post #2410 where he enjoyed playing his guitar and entertaining others.

Dad is preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte; his parents, James Clifford and Helen King; and his brothers, John King.

Dad is survived by his brothers, Theodore (Ted) King and Gene (Jack) king; and his sister, Patricia Dingley. Dad is also survived by his nine children, son, Scott James King (Doreen), son, Rory Stuart King (Kem), daughter, Kathryn Marie Glader Elliott (David), daughter, Cherly Ann Keyser (Randy), son, Bradley Luke King, son, Kelly Todd King (Ronda), daughter, Robin Louise Carlstrom (Mark), daughter, Rebecca Kay Bergherr (Tom), and daughter, Marcy Jo King. Dad is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren and six great grandchildren as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

An informal memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2005 from 12:30 p.m .to 2 p.m. at the San Benito,  Texas VFW Post #2410 on N. Whalen Park Road. A formal memorial service and burial will be held the weekend of May 7-8 in Minnesota where family resides.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Harlingen Elks Lodge #1889, the San Benito VFW #2410, or charity of your choice.

Dad will be missed by many, and he will live in our hearts forever.

Marvin E. Walker

MANKATO, KS — Marvin Everette Walker was born to Leon nad Iona Walter Walker on September 18, 1916, near Courtland, KS. On November 26, 1941, Marvin married Vera Joy Graham at Harmony Methodist Church in Mankato, KS. A few days later, war was declared, and Marvin joined the Army.

After the war, Marvin and Vera made their home in Mankato. He was active in church and community organizations. Marvin started working as a rural letter carrier in 1948 and was active member of carriers‘ organizations. He was part president of the Kansas Rural Letter Carriers Association and remained an active member of the National and Kansas Rural Carriers Associations and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Marvin retired from the post office in 1978. He and Vera drove to almost every state and chose the Rio Grande Valley of  Texas for their new home. Marvin was an active member of the La Feria, TX, First Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed traveling and had pleasant memories of RV travel and camping trips with many friends. As they traveled, Marvin made new friends and fellow tourists and local residents as well.

In 2001, the Walkers took their last trip, returning to Mankato. They transferred their church membership back to the church where they had married.

Marvin passed away in Mankato, KS, April 28, 2005

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sister.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Judith and Roger Felix and Jean and Tom Fetting; a granddaughter, three grandsons, two great grandsons, a sister, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Harmony Methodist Church in Mankato on April 30, 2005 at 10 a.m. with Pastors Laura Fricker, and Vernon Snider officiating. Interment to follow at Courtland Cemetery in Courtland, Kansas. Memorials may be made to Jewell County Hospital, Harmony Methodist Church, or charity of your choice.

Natalia Sanchez

SAGINAW, MI/SAN BENITO, TX — Natalia R. Sanchez, 55, beloved wife, grandmother, greatmother and sister passed away and went to be with the Lord at her residence in Saginaw, Michigan on April 26, 2005. Natalia was born to the late Olivio and Concepcion Meza Ruiz in San Benito,  Texas.

She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Saginaw, Michigan. Natalia enjoyed her Spanish music and her flowers.

She married Jesse Sanchez on April 7, 1989.

She is survived by her husband, Jesse Sanchez of Saginaw, Michigan. She also leaves five children, Norma Adames of San Antonio,  Texas Nelda (Fred) Medel, Nora Adames, Noelia Adames (Robert Rico) all of Saginaw, Michigan; one son, Adam Adames of Florida; three step-children, Robert Sanchez, Deborah Sanchez, Jesus (Sophia) Sanchez all of Saginaw, Michigan; also a special granddaughter, Cecelia Gonzalez; 25 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; two sisters, Maria Ann (Oscar) Garcia, Connie (Amado) Anguiano; and one brother, Juan (Gloria) Ruiz; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Olivio and Concepcion Ruiz; one sister, Angelita Sandoval; and two brothers, Olivio Ruiz Jr., and Jose Ruiz.

Visitations will be Saturday, April 30, 2005 from 12 noon to 9 p.m. and Sunday, May 1, 2005 12 noon to 9 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home. A rosary will be said each night at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at St. Benedict Catholic Church on Monday, May 2, 2005 at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Mont Meta Cemetery.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her and her memory will live on in our hearts.

Azucena "Susie" O. Navarro

RAYMONDVILLE, TX — Azucena (Susie) O. Navarro, 87, passed away on Sunday morning May 1, 2005 in Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. She was born on February 3, 1918 at Santa Cruz Ranch, La Reforma,  Texas in Starr County to Hilario Olivarez and Romula (Barrera) Olivarez. One of nine children, she grew up on the Ranch and later attended school in Mission. She married Armando Navarro on March 28, 1941 in Mission,  Texas; they eventually settled in Raymondville in 1949 where they owned and operated Raymondville Auto Supply for 50 years. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children, Homer (Nora) Navarro of Raymondville, Elizabeth N. Hoelscher of San Antonio, Ruth (Joe Cox) Navarro of Lake Somerville, and Angela (Edward) Downs of Houston; grandchildren, Mario Navarro of Scottsdale, Arizona, Joshua Vera and Michael Hoelscher of San Antonio, and Marissa Navarro of Raymondville; sister, Isabel O. Valdez of San Antonio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and seven brothers and sisters.

Family will be receiving friends and relatives at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at Duddlesten Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday 2 p.m., May 5, 2005 at Bethel United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Raymondville Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ed Downs, Joe Cox, Mario Navarro, Joshua Vera, Michael Hoelscher, Victor Alvarado and Harvey Hoelscher.

Blas Quezada

HARLINGEN, TX — Blas Quezada, 94, went to be with our Lord on May 2, 2005 surrounded by his loving family at his residence.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Juanita V. Quezada; a son, Antonio Balderas, Sr.; a daughter, Maria De Los Angeles Martinez; three grandsons, Alonzo Balderas, Eduardo Martinez, Jose Antonio Mendoza; a granddaughter, Delia De Leon.

Mr. Quezada is survived by his grandchildren, Maria A. Reyes, Maria G. Rodriguez, Juanita Aburto, Raul Martinez Jr., Yolanda Govea, Mateo Balderas, Eduardo Balderas, Emma Martinez, Antonio Balderas Jr., Oscar Balderas, Mercedes Perez, Juana Galvez. Paulo Balderas, Rogelio Balderas; also 66 great-grandchildren and 57 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 03, 2005 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today May 04, 2005 at San Ignacio Catholic Church in "El Ranchito" at 1:00 p.m. in San Benito,  Texas. Committal service will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito,  Texas.

Eugene (Geno) Swincicki

RANCHO VIEJO, TX — Eugene (Geno) Swincicki, 84, passed away Monday, May 2, 2005 at Harlingen Medical Center.

Geno was born in Milwaukee, WI on June 5, 1920 and served as a pilot in the United States Army Air Corp in World War II. He owned and operated a Marine business in West Bend, W1 for 40 years and retired to Rancho Viejo in 1987.

He is survived by his wife, Anna May Kinder Dunn; three step-children and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
