TAYLOR, Texas - Cratis Alton "C.A." Welch, 81, of Taylor died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, in a Temple, Texas, hospital.
Mr. Welch was born July 4, 1922, in Callahan County, Texas. He was retired from the Postal Service and a Church of Christ elder. He was preceded in death by one son, Stanley Welch.
Survivors include his wife, LaVerne Welch of Taylor; three sons and daughters - in - law, John and Cathy Welch of Texarkana, and Gerald and Brenda Welch and David and Kathy Welch of Taylor; two daughters and one son - in - law, Janis Dunham of Texarkana and Charla and Curtis Peters of Belton, Texas; one sister, Ona Lou Favor of Abilene, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great - grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Highway 95 Church of Christ with Royce Williamson, Tim Ayers and Bob Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Taylor City Cemetery under direction of Providence Funeral Home.

LEONARD FITTS
LINDEN, Texas - Leonard Fitts, 75, of Linden died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, in Linden.
Mr. Fitts was born Dec. 27, 1928, in Linden. He was employed with the Texas Department of Transportation and a member of Linden First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Fuller Fitts of Linden; three sons, Greg Fitts, Steve Fitts and Ronald Fitts of Linden; one daughter, Lynette Fitts of Carollton, Texas; four brothers, George Fitts of Marshall, Texas, and Royce Fitts, William Fitts and Billy Fitts of Linden; six grandchildren; two great - grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Linden First Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Tussell and Wallace Watkins officiating. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery under direction of Reeder - Davis Schindler Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Linden First Baptist Church or Corinth Cemetery Fund.

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas - Hartsel Lionel Godwin, 77, of Malakoff, Texas, formerly of Hughes Springs, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, in a Malakoff nursing home.

JOHNNIE O'BRIEN
Johnnie Louise O'Brien, 91, of New Braunfels, Texas, formerly of Texarkana, Texas, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at her home.
Mrs. O'Brien was born May 8, 1912, in Bowie County, Texas. She was a homemaker, retired from the Navy Shipyard and a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, T.J. O'Brien.
Survivors include one son and daughter - in - law, Jack and Gretchen O'Brien of Kingwood, Texas; one daughter, Bobbie Thorpe of New Braunfels; one sister, Mildred Barberee of Overton, Texas; four grandchildren, Carla Lee of Falls Church, Va., Karen Newberry of Upperville, Va., Teresa Gwynn of Silver Spring, Md., and Sean O'Brien of Huntington Beach, Calif.; eight great - grandchildren; one great - great - grandchild; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Texarkana Funeral Home Fuqua - Everett Memorial Chapel with Mark Miller officiating. Burial will be in Redwater Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family will be at 17 Hickory Oaks Lane, Texarkana, Texas.
EUGENE CORN
Eugene Corn, 64, of Texarkana, Texas, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at his home.
Mr. Corn was born Dec. 1, 1939, in Miller County, Ark. He was a member of the Salvation Army Church.
Survivors include two brothers and sisters - in - law, J.A. and Frances Corn of Genoa, Ark., and Buddy and Nellie Corn of Shreveport, La.; two sisters and brothers - in - law, Ruby and Ralph Bernklow of Stow, Mass., and Pearline and Kenneth Tatum of Texarkana; and a number of other relatives.
Services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Texarkana Funeral Home Fuqua - Everett Memorial Chapel with Major Harvey and Ann Johnson and Major Bart and Margie Deggs officiating. Burial will be in Rondo Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family will be at their home off Highway 196, left on Miller County Road 22, Genoa.

Judith Shea Akard, 50, of Nash, Texas, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004.

MELNA HENSON
Melna G. Henson, 90, of Texarkana, Texas, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Henson was born Dec. 2, 1913, in Plainville, Miss. She was a nurse, retired from Southern Clinic, former president of Gladiola Garden Club, Newcomers Club and St. Michael Hospital Guild and a member of First Baptist Church, Moores Lane, and Straight Cutters Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Henson, in 1996.
Survivors include one son and daughter - in - law, William L. "Buzz" and Penny A. Henson of Katy, Texas; one daughter, Glennette Spears of Texarkana; six grandchildren, Robert Spears, Stacy Spears, Jaye Latch, Casey Henson, Kyle Henson and Stephanie Henson; and four great - grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Texarkana Funeral Home Fuqua - Everett Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Larry Sims officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ruby J. Fulmer, 93, of Kennedale, Texas, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004.

HOPE, Ark. - Alice Drake, 73, of Germantown, Tenn., died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at her home.
Mrs. Drake was a retired schoolteacher and guidance counselor and a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority, Alpha Delta Kappa Tea Sorority and Germantown Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and a member of Ruth Sunday School Class,.
Survivors include her husband, William "Bill" Drake of Germantown; one son, Randy Drake of Collierville, Tenn.; two daughters, Ruth Ellen McGruder of Germantown and Alicia Drake of Madison, Miss.; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. today in Macedonia Cemetery, Patmos, Ark., with Earl Cumbie officiating. Burial will be under direction of Herndon Funeral Home.
