Markley
Gertrude Markley, 78, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
A graveside service and burial were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Beeville Memorial Park.
Mrs. Markley was born Feb. 25, 1922, in Beloit, Wis., to Minnie (Cone) and Irving Hanaman. She married Keith Leroy Markley Sr. on Jan. 25, 1939, in Dubuque, Iowa. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 31, 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Keith Leroy “Butch” Markley Jr. of Beeville and Warren Lee Markley of Eagle River, Wis.; a daughter, Kathryn Elaine Markley of Rocton, Ill.; a sister, Beverly Jean Markley of Beloit, Wis.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Salazar
Merce Salazar, 85, of Tuleta died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001. He was born Oct. 24, 1915, in Runge to Emeterio and Monica (Vela) Salazar. He was retired from Southern Pacific Railroad and was a member of the Catholic church.
Survivors include his wife, Ofelia Salazar of Tuleta; three daughters, Teresa Garza and Arjelia Ramirez, both of Beeville, and Eva Cantu of Houston; two sons, Eliazar Salazar of Victoria and Emiterio Salazar of Alvin; 28 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 o’clock this afternoon (Wednesday) at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, with Father Richard Gonzales officiating.
Burial followed in the Tuleta Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ascencion Carrizales, Rey Rios, Ramon Gaona, Victor Rodriguez, Miguel Jaure and Jerry Rodriguez.
Treviño
Felicita Treviño, 76, of the Yougeen community died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the Angelus Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
Burial followed on the Arrisola Ranch.
Mrs. Treviño was born Aug. 22, 1924, in Pettus to Estefana (Rios) and Victor Arrisola. She married Patricio Treviño in 1945 in Tuleta. She was a homemaker and a member of OLV Church.
Survivors include her husband, Patricio Treviño of Yougeen; six sons, Pete, Lazaro, Abel, Juan, Rene and David Treviño, all of Beeville; seven daughters, Alicia Vasquez of Victoria and Amelia Rivas, Mary Ann Gonzales, Elsie Aleman, Elvia Tapia, Rachel Camacho and Chris Garcia, all of Beeville; a brother, Juan Arrisola of Beeville; a half brother, Pablo Arrisola of Beeville; a sister, Lorenza Cantu of San Antonio; a half sister, Manuela Carrizales of Beeville; 44 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, David and Daniel Treviño; and a daughter, Elia Perez.

Boatright
Edith Mae Hubbard Boatright, 44, of Fort Stockton died Monday, March 19, 2001, in Odessa. She was born March 11, 1957, in Uvalde to Virgil and Ethel Hubbard. She was a 1975 graduate of Nueces Canyon High School and received her master’s degree from Sul Ross State University in Alpine. She was a teacher at Fort Stockton High School.
Survivors include her husband, Daryl, of Fort Stockton; a brother, Thomas Hubbard of Lytle; a sister, Dorothy Oliver of Tuleta; a nephew, Jonathan Hubbard of Rockport; and two nieces, Amanda Hubbard of Rockport and Nichole Oliver of Tuleta.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, T.T. and Erie Shockley and Robert and Lola Hubbard.
The funeral was held at the First United Methodist Church in Brady. Burial followed in a cemetery there on Friday, March 23. A memorial service also was held in Fort Stockton on March 22. Pallbearers included Randy, Mike and Michael Boatright, Rusty Moss and Calvin Oliver.
Eeds
R. Eldon Eeds, 76, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
A graveside service and burial were held at 10 a.m. Friday in Glenwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Gordon Talk officiating.
Mr. Eeds was born here on Sept. 20, 1924, to Lula May (Mills) and Will Eeds. He was a retired draftsman for Dougherty Properties and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by a nephew, Jimmy Eeds.
Survivors include two nieces, Dorothy Fenwick of Vicksburg, Miss., and Virginia Durden of Corpus Christi; three nephews, Edward L. Eeds Jr. of Kansas City, Mo., Richard Eeds of Albuquerque, N.M., and Roger Eeds of California; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Gutierrez
Manuel Gutierrez, 83, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, in a local nursing home.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Angelus Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joe Gutierrez officiating.
Burial followed in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2. Pallbearers were Juan Antonio, Robert Jr., Timothy Christopher, Juan Manuel, Alexander and Narcizo Gutierrez.
Mr. Gutierrez was born Oct. 13, 1917, in Charco to Paula (Del Bosque) and Rufino Gutierrez. He had been employed as a construction worker and was a member of St. James Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona Franco Gutierrez, in October 1992.
Survivors include two sons, Juan Manuel Gutierrez of Houston and Robert F. Gutierrez of Beeville; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Eugenio Gutierrez of Pharr; and a sister, Eudelia Sanchez of Belton.

Muñoz
Erlinda Rosales Muñoz, 51, of Karnes City died Tuesday, March 27, 2001. She was born June 4, 1949, in Karnes City to Elvira (Saenz) and Longino Rosales. She married Gilbert Alaniz Muñoz on June 26, 1987, in Karnes City. She was employed as a dental assistant.
Survivors include her husband, Gilbert A. Muñoz of Karnes City; a son, Santos DeLeon Jr. and wife Anna of San Antonio; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Jonas of Karnes City; her father, Longino Rosales of Karnes City; two brothers, Domingo Rosales Sr. of Karnes City and Robert Rosales Sr. and wife Eva of Pleasanton; a sister, Josie R. Fulghum and husband John C. of Beeville; three grandchildren, Corey and Tori Amethyst DeLeon and Jasmine Lynn Jonas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother; a brother, Elias Rosales Sr.; and her grandfather, Valentine Saenz, all in 1998.
Rosary was scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Rhodes Funeral Home chapel in Karnes City. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Cornelius Catholic Church there, with Father Robert Ploch officiating.
Burial will follow in the Karnes City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lionel Benavides, Morris Foley, Joe L. Gomez, Abel Suniga, Dr. Wade Phelps and Gene Donnell.
Callicott
May Eddie Callicott, 87, died Monday, April 2, 2001, in Tomball.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Galloway & Sons chapel. The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Galloway chapel, with the Rev. Joe Vernon officiating.
Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Callicott was born July 21, 1913, in Edna to Maude (Lynch) and Adolph Sherrer.
Survivors include two sons, Tom and Bobby Callicott, both of Corpus Christi; a daughter, June Stewart of Spring; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Thomas Callicott; and a son, Jimmy Callicott.

Oren D. Culpepper, 94, died Monday, April 2, 2001, in Fremont, Calif.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Galloway & Sons chapel.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Galloway chapel, with the Rev. Mac Robinson officiating.
Burial will follow in Beeville Memorial Park.
Mr. Culpepper was born June 9, 1906, in Bee County. A resident of Beeville most of his life, he was in the insurance business for approximately 30 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for more than 50 years and taught Sunday school classes for many years. He was active in the local senior citizens group and was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and a past member of the Beeville Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Zelia Mae Culpepper; a daughter, Pearl Sikes; three sisters, Verna Dickinson, Louise Baker and Mineola Culpepper; and four brothers, Jerry Glen, Marvin, Carl and Cullie Culpepper.
Survivors include two daughters, Faye Cantieni of Fremont, Calif., and Alice Wittmer of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Harold Culpepper and wife Genevieve of Victoria; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church building fund or the Joe Barnhart Bee County Library.

Headley
Joyce Headley, 58, of Victoria died Friday, March 30, 2001, in Beeville. She was born Aug. 28, 1942, in Alamo to Aaron H. and Marlene (Hixson) Truitt. Mrs. Headley was employed as a special education teacher at Bloomington High School.
She was preceded in death by her mother on April 12, 2000.
Survivors include her father, Aaron H. Truitt of Beeville; a son, Randy Headley and wife Heather of Victoria; a sister, Jeanette Baker of Virginia; and a granddaughter, Kayla Headley.
The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors chapel in Hillsboro, with the Rev. Robert Knaubert officiating.
Burial followed in the Hickey Cemetery near Hillsboro.
