Gonzales
Cipriano Lucio “Chipo” Gonzales Jr., 52, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001. Mr. Gonzales had Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Galloway & Sons chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, with Father Patrick Donohoe officiating. The St. James Church Choir provided special music, which included “One Day at a Time,” “Amazing Grace” and “On Eagle’s Wings.”
Burial followed in Beeville Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Peter Joseph “P.J.” Treviño, Matthew Treviño, Ralph Olivarez, Bill Stockton, Felix Deleon and Alcario Alvarado.
Mr. Gonzales was born Nov. 11, 1949, in Refugio to Eva Lucio Pardo and Cipriano Gonzales Sr. He was married on July 26, 1969, to Estella Treviño in Beeville and they had resided here.
He was the owner/operator of A.J.’s T.V. Service and had worked for Sears for 23 years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the Men’s Society at St. James Catholic Church for 18 years, a sponsor for the CYO and a Boy Scouts leader at St. James Church.
He is survived by his wife, Estella Treviño Gonzales of Beeville; two daughters, Jeannette Gonzales and husband Carlos of San Diego,  Calif., and Clarissa Conklin and husband James of Houston; one son, Albert Gonzales and wife Iza of El Paso; five grandchildren; six sisters, Clara Lara and husband Ted of Corpus Christi, Donna Worden and Diana Cumpian, both of Beeville, Mary Lou and husband Ronald Baxley of Georgia, Elsa and husband James Huebner of Beeville and Josephine and husband Jonathan Wells of South Dakota; one brother, Eugene Pardo of Beeville; one stepbrother, Jesse Gonzales of Robstown; one stepsister, Mary Helen Gonzales of Robstown; and his parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Pedro Treviño Sr.

Cavazos
Florentina Garcia Cavazos, 85, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Angelus Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 7 o’clock tonight at Angelus Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. James Catholic Church, with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating.
Burial will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Ms. Cavazos was born Oct. 28, 1916, in Pettus to Josephina Morales and Bensaldo Garcia. She had resided in Beeville, was a housewife and a member of St. James Catholic Church. She also was a volunteer at The Vineyard and Bee Community Action Agency, and a member of the American GI Forum and St. James Guadalupanas.
She is survived by one son, Bivian (Diana) Cavazos of San Antonio; one daughter, Mary (Pablo Jr.) Sanchez of Beeville; two sisters, Dora Garcia and Barbarita Perez, both of Beeville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Dorris
Madge Malone Dorris, 91, of Mathis died Saturday morning, Dec. 8, 2001, at her home in Mathis.
She was born Sept. 9, 1910, near Mineral to Mary Elisabeth (Wolfe) and Thomas James Robert Malone, both children of early Bee County families.
Mrs. Dorris was a member of the Mathis First Baptist Church where she was the church treasurer for 31 years. She was an active member of the South  Texas Art League and had a part in founding the Zephyr Baptist Encampment, serving on the board of directors at its beginning.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Glenn Dorris; her parents; her sisters, Maymie Lothringer and Grace Howard; a brother, Erwin Malone; and her son-in-law, Bob Jennings.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Jennings of San Marcos; two granddaughters, Kerry (Jerome) Lieury of Paris, France, and Jody Jennings of San Marcos; and two great-grandchildren, Marc and Claire Lieury of Paris, France.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mathis. Graveside services followed at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Mineral Cemetery.
Dobie Funeral Home of Mathis was in charge of arrangements.

Flores
Ignacio Flores, 88, died on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Angelus Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 o’clock this morning (Wednesday) at St. James Catholic Church, with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating.
Burial followed in Skidmore’s Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers were Steve Lara, Tony Flores, Louis Flores, Jason Lara, Rene Flores and Johnny Carabajal Jr.
Mr. Flores was born Nov. 30, 1913, in La Parra to Louisa Ramirez and Cristobal Flores. He had resided in Beeville, was a rancher and a member of St. James Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Consuelo Flores, in 1985; daughter, Emma Carabajal; son Ray Flores; and grandson, Oscar, Flores.
He is survived by one daughter, Rachel F. Lara, two sons, Ignacio Flores Jr. and Juan Flores, and a half-sister, Ramona Colunga, all of Beeville; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Hardin
James “Slim” Alvah Hardin, 75, died at his residence on Monday, Dec. 10, 2001.
Mr. Hardin was born in San Saba on March 21, 1926, the son of P.C. and Nora (Sowders) Hardin.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an MP in New York City. After his military service, he attended  Texas A&I University for one year. During his working career, he farmed in the Valley, was a dragline operator for the Nueces County Water District, owned a shrimp boat and was a retired plant operator for Koch Refinery.
Mr. Hardin was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Sandra Hardin Baker.
Immediate survivors include his wife of 49 years, Joyce Hardin of Papalote; his son, Wes (Melissa) Hardin of Papalote; one daughter, Sheila (David) Moore of Corpus Christi; one sister, Geneva Fichter of New Braunfels; eight grandchildren, Mandy and Josh Moore, Luke, Holly and Hannah Hardin and Sheila, Scott and Jerrod Baker; and one great-grandson, Jake Moore.
Funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock tonight (Wednesday) in the Sawyer-George Funeral Chapel with Rev. Floyd Conner officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roman Mazurek, Tom Rech, David Womble, Al Fricke, Billy Brown and Bob Swenson.
Burial will be private.
Sawyer-George Funeral Home in Corpus Christi was in charge of arrangements.

Hatcher
Joan Lucille Troell Hatcher, 71, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, in Wimberley.
Funeral services were held Monday at 3 p.m. at Galloway & Sons chapel, officiated by the Rev. Don Taylor. Special music included “Amazing Grace” and “Old Rugged Cross” with organist Pat Coffee and soloist Ray Barefield. Burial followed at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Ron Tindol, Ray Tindol, Paul Domanski, Juan Paiz, Bud Troell and Higinio Casarez.
Mrs. Hatcher was born April 13, 1930, in Oakville to Lucille Kramer and Nikola Troell. She was married in 1949 to James Richard Hatcher in Live Oak County and they resided in Beeville. She had retired as deputy clerk in the Bee County tax assessor-collector’s office.
She was preceded in death by her husband on April 27, 1985, and one son, Charles Hatcher, in 1991.
She is survived by one daughter, Jimmye Lucille Tindol and husband Ron of Wimberley; two grandchildren, Stacy Leigh Domanski and husband Paul and Ronald Ray Tindol Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Paul Michael and Hunter Leigh Domanski; and three aunts, Mary Troell of George West, Elizabeth Troell of Three Rivers and Lucille Colle of Oakville.
Those who wish may make donations to the American Cancer Society.

Moya
Santos A. Moya, 66, of Beeville and Berclair died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001.
He was born Oct. 21, 1935, in Beeville to Luz Arredondo and Quirino Moya. He married Lydia Longoria Moya of Beeville. He was a retired salesperson for Lance Vending Co. and owned and operated Quick Way Grocery for 14 years. He was a Catholic.
Mr. Moya was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Imelda Juanita Moya.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Velma Esquivel and Imelda (Alex) Moreno of Beeville; a son, Joe Luz (Anna Maria) Moya of Somerville; three sisters, Manuela Rodriguez of Kenner, La., Maria Hernandez of Berclair and Trinidad Medina of Beeville; two brothers, Jesus Moya of Victoria and Juan Moya of Berclair; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Pasala officiating. Lupita Amador provided special music.
Burial followed in the Berclair Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Adrian Moya, Michael David Moya, Santos Orlando Moya, Vicente Esquivel Jr., Alex Moreno III and Billy Joe Barrera Sr. Honorary pallbearers were Chale Salazar, Chris Saldaña, Felix Lopez Sr., Antonio Carabajal and Eloy Moya.

Naylor
Grover F. Naylor Jr., 72, of Clareville died in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville at 1:28 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home with Jerry Dunson officiating.
Burial followed in the Clareville Cemetery. Pallbearers were A.J. Gregorczyk, Bud Grice, Garrett Jacks, Ramon Muñoz, Vernon Ludwig and Norman Borntrager. Honorary pallbearers were Chuck Paterson, Robert Lee Brown, Raymond Raska and Mark Greiner.
Mr. Naylor was born Oct. 16, 1929, in Clareville to Beulah Bishop and Grover F. Naylor Sr. He served in the U.S. Army. He married Joyce Gregorczyk on Dec. 14, 1950, in Papalote and they resided in Clareville, where he was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Joyce G. Naylor; two sons, Grover F. “Trey” Naylor III and wife Teena and Clay Andrew Naylor, all of Clareville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Deannie Bobbitt of Papalote, Margie and Jug Paterson of Taft, Bill and Robert Lee Brown of Taft, A.J. and Sandy Gregorczyk of Papalote, Shirley and Raymond Raska and Jenny and Bud Grice, all of Sinton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
