Gonzalez
Mauro Gonzalez, 73, of Killeen died Friday, March 15, 2002, in a hospital there.
Services for the retired U.S. Army master sergeant were scheduled for 10 o’clock this morning (Wednesday) at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Killeen with the Rev. Edwin Kagoo officiating. Burial with full military honors followed at Killeen Memorial Park. A rosary was held Tuesday.
He was born March 15, 1929, in Mission and married the former Dora Treviño on Jan. 15, 1958, in Beeville.
Gonzalez retired from the Army in 1977 with 27 years of service. He was a decorated Vietnam veteran who received several awards, including the Bronze Star Medal for Valor and an oak leaf cluster, Purple Heart with an oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal with bronze clasp and five loops, Vietnam Service Medal with silver and bronze star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with palm, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army of Occupation Medal-Germany, First Class Unit Citation, Expert M16 Qualification Badge and four overseas service bars.
He was a member of the military Order of the Purple Heart, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3892 in Harker Heights and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Killeen.
Survivors include his wife, Dora Gonzalez of Killeen; three sons, Mario and Ricardo Gonzalez of Austin and Tino Gonzalez of Monument,  Colo.; a brother, Celestino Gonzalez of Caddo Mills; a sister, Ramona Gonzalez of Mission; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements were under the direction of Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen.

Kennedy
Dr. Evalyn Kennedy, D.O., 81, died Sunday, March 17, 2002, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 o’clock this evening (Wednesday) at the Angelus Funeral Home chapel.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gordon Talk officiating.
Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Dr. Kennedy was born April 12, 1920, in Denison to Nicolena (Snedal) and Lawn McCraray. She married Troy Donald Kennedy in July 1947 in Sinton. She was a retired physician and surgeon and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She was a 1943 graduate of Kirksville University of Osteopathy and Surgery in Kirksville, Mo. After interning at various medical facilities there, she did her residency at Beeville’s Bors Clinic and Hospital of which she was co-owner. She was a member of various professional organizations, including the American Osteopathic Association (1943-75);  Texas Osteopathic Medical Association;  Texas Academy of Osteopathy; American Academy of Osteopathy; Pan American Cancer Cytology Society (charter member); Kirksville Osteopathic Alumni Association; District VIII, Coastal Bend Area of TOMA; Delta Omega National Sorority; American College of General Practitioners in Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery;  Texas Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons;  Texas State Society of the American College of General Practitioners in Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery; and American Geriatrics Society.
Locally, she was a member of the Beeville chapter of the Business and Professional Women organization, served one day weekly at the family planning clinic and worked with the county’s indigent health clinic.
With her husband, she was engaged in the oil well and lease service, previously known as Kennedy Oil Well and Lease Service, serving as president and secretary since 1950.
In 1968, she was named to “Who’s Who in  Texas Today” and in 1973, was selected to “The World of Who’s Who.”
Survivors include a daughter, Charyl Dragoo of Beeville; a son, John W. Kennedy of Cedar Creek; a special friend, Glen Harding of Beeville; and several cousins.
Angelus Funeral Home

Lehnhoff
Marge Lehnhoff, 79, died Friday, March 15, 2002, at her home in Seguin. She was born Dec. 4, 1922, in Tampico, Mexico, to E.H. and Luise Graser. She later moved to San Antonio to attend high school at Our Lady of the Lake. The family settled in Seguin in 1938. She attended  Texas Lutheran College.
She married F.W. “Fritz” Lehnhoff on May 16, 1949, in Seguin. During the next 52 years, the couple resided in Seguin, Marble Falls, Poth and Pettus as he coached and taught school. After earning her degree in education from Southwest  Texas State University, she taught elementary school in Poth and Pettus. After his retirement in 1980, the Lehnhoffs returned to Seguin and she continued teaching at Poth until her retirement in 1985.
Survivors include her husband, Fritz Lehnhoff of Seguin; four sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Kim Lehnhoff of Georgetown, Robert and Glenda Lehnhoff of Universal City, E.H. “Nesto” Lehnhoff of San Antonio and Micky and Kathy Lehnhoff of Kerrville; a daughter, Margaret Doubrava and husband Robert of Beeville; nine grandchildren, Scott, Robin, Kristin, Aaron, Kyle, Kimberly, James, Anna and Jacob; a sister-in-law, Lil Dillard of Seguin; a brother-in-law, Henry Lehnhoff and wife Carline of Seguin; a brother-in-law, Kurt Lehnhoff of New Braunfels; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Liselotte Cleaveland.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Goetz Memorial Chapel in Seguin.
Memorials may be made to the Seguin Public Library.

Salas
Eva Salas, 68, of the Nell community died Sunday, March 17, 2002. She was born May 20, 1933, in Coy City to Serapio and Petra (Salinas) De La Garza. She was retired from the Pawnee ISD and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pawnee.
Survivors include her husband, Pedro Salas of Nell; a son, Pete Salas and wife Irene of Beeville; three sisters, Emma Alaniz of Floresville, Elena DeLeon of George West and Minnie Friesenhahn of Aransas Pass; three brothers, Adan and Israel De La Garza, both of Coy City, and Pedro De La Garza of Floresville; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service was held at 4 o’clock this afternoon (Wednesday) at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, with Father Peter Gajda officiating.

Strauch
Sir Knight Anthony Strauch, 85, died Friday, March 15, 2002. He was an active member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the former owner of Strauch Vending.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ross; a daughter, Mary Jane; two sons, Wade A. and Thomas W.; a stepdaughter, Nancy Harris; two stepsons, David and Robert Ross; a brother, Leo Strauch; a sister, Catherine Donahue; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Margaret Mary Church. Burial followed in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements were under the direction of Zizik-Kearns Riebe-Saunders Funeral Home in San Antonio.

Green
Richard W. Green Sr., 82, of Woodbury, N.J., died at his home there Wednesday, May 22, 2002.
A memorial service was held Saturday, May 25, at the Verga Methodist Church in Verga, N.J.
Mr. Green is survived by his wife, Sophie (Holmes) Green, two sons, Thomas (Kathy) Green of Gibbstown, N.J., and Richard W. (Betty) Green Jr. of Papalote; two daughters, Peggy (Ray) Williams of Gibbstown, N.J., and Barbara Magee of Dalzell, S.C.; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Anne Elizabeth, and great-granddaughter, Brytnee Gunter.
Donations may be sent to the Lighthouse Hospice, 771 Cuthbert Blvd., Suite 101, Cherry Hill, N.J. 08002, or the Verga Methodist Church, Old Crown Point Road and Mail Avenue, Verga, N.J.
Arrangements were handled by Landolfi Funeral Home of Paulsboro, N.J.

Bordayo
Michael A. Bordayo, 31, of Skidmore died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at his residence.
A prayer service was held Sunday at the Mathis American Legion Hall. Funeral services were held Monday at the same location. Interment followed in the Waldheim Cemetery in Tynan.
Mr. Bordayo was born in Sinton on March 1, 1971. He had lived in Skidmore for the past three years and Mathis prior to that. He was a carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Rodriguez and one stepdaughter, Olivia Rodriguez, both of Skidmore; four stepsons, Joel and Anthony Rodriguez, both of Skidmore, Juan Rodriguez of Tynan and Larry Rodriguez of Beeville; his mother and stepfather, Willie and Ermelinda B. Garcia of Tynan; one half sister, Sylvia Garcia of Tynan; his great-grandmother, Maria Muñoz of Mathis; and two step-grandchildren.

Cantu
Alejandro Harms Cantu, 88, died Saturday, May 25, 2002.
Rosary was recited Monday at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial followed in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2. Pallbearers were Glen Steed, Dennis Weyenberg, Manuel, Pete and Randy Contreras and Albert Harms. Honorary pallbearers were Fermin Trujillo, Alejandro Cantu Jr., Melivanel Cantu Jr., Jason Dennes, Niel Harwell and Leo Cantu.
Mr. Cantu was born to Wenseslado “Ben” C. and Emma (Harms) Cantu on March 1, 1914, in Beeville. He was retired and a Catholic.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lilia C. Cantu; his parents; one daughter, Adelina C. Concepcion; two sons, Gerardo “Jerry” Cantu and Melivanel C. Cantu Sr.; and five sisters, Maria Harms Cantu, Lucia Martinez, Isabel Lozano, Leonor Harms and Consuelo Contreras.
He is survived by 10 daughters, Cristela (Fermin) M. Trujillo of Silver Springs, Md., Emma Rangel, Janie Steed, Hortencia Cantu, Alicia Weyenberg, Gloria M. Topewith, Mary Harwell and Graciela Shirsefat, all of Beeville, Angelica McClain of Corpus Christi and Lillie Mae Galaz of Angleton; one son, Alejandro Cantu Jr. of Beeville; and one sister, Lucila Contreras; 42 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Carrasco
Esther G. Carrasco, 70, died Thursday, May 23, 2002, in Corpus Christi.
Visitation was held Monday at Angelus Funeral Home chapel. Rosary was recited that evening at the same location. Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial followed in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2. Pallbearers were Don Iles, Robert A. “Bobby” Garcia, Reynaldo Garcia, Jesse Riojas, Edward Patino and Ventura Garcia.
Mrs. Carrasco was born Aug. 2, 1931, in Beeville to Guadalupe and Concha (Cuellar) Garcia. She was married June 11, 1958, to Benito Carrasco in Beeville. She was a member of St. James and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died Feb. 18, 2002.
She is survived by two sons, Raul (Alicia) Carrasco of San Antonio and Gerald Carrasco of Beeville; one daughter, Janie (John) Patino of Pettus; one brother, Arturo Garcia of Houston; four grandchildren, Krystal and John Edward Patino and Raul B. Carrasco Jr. and Veronica Carrasco; and one great-grandchild, Ethan Edward Cantu.

Clark
Willie L. Clark, 93, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, in Houston.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 2 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the same location with the Rev. W.R. Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at St. Rose Cemetery. Pallbearers are Melvin, Michael, Harold, Leonard Allan, Bruce and Fred Clark. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren.
Mr. Clark was born March 10, 1909, in Fort Worth to Fred William and Bessi (Brown) Clark. He married Carrie Bernice Robinson on Aug. 21, 1947, in Beeville. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired road construction worker for the City of Laredo and a resident of Normanna.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Carrie B. Clark of Normanna; two daughters, Billie Sue Donohue of Houston and Joan Bernice Guytin of Riverside,  Calif.; eight sons, Bruce Edward, Michael, Leonard Allan and Fred Clark, all of Houston, Melvin Clark of San Antonio, Hal Reginald Clark of Long Beach,  Calif., James O’Riley of Miami, Fla., and Carl O’Riley of Ft.  Washington, Md.; three sisters, Bessie, Freddie and Tootsie, all of Chicago, Ill.; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one aunt, Beatrice Youngblood of Michigan.
