Ismael E. Macias, 85, of Three Rivers died Monday, May 27, 2002, in a San Antonio nursing home following a long illness.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 4 to 8:30 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Roberson Funeral Chapel in Three Rivers. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the same location. Interment will follow in the Three Rivers Cemetery.
Mr. Macias was a retired Diamond Shamrock refinery employee. He was preceded in death by a son, Ismael Macias Jr.
He is survived by three daughters, Angelita (Ernesto) Valdez of San Antonio, Maria (Oren) Hall of Tuscola and Delia Brown of Three Rivers; four sons, Valentin (Mary) Macias of Three Rivers, Ray Macias of Austin, Lionel Macias of Lafayette, La., and Juan (Carla) Macias of Fritch; one brother, Martin Macias of Houston; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Thornton
Jennifer Grace Thornton, 31, died Saturday, May 25, 2002, in Beeville.
A memroial service will be held at Trinity Christian Center at 2 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Robert A. Tomlinson officiating.
Miss Thornton was born April 29, 1971, in Cuero to Jerard and Frances Thornton. She lived much of her life in Brownsville before moving to Beeville in 2001. She was an active member of Trinity Christian Center where she played drums in the church band.
She is survived by two children, Justin Steele Lee and Megan Susan Lee, both of Beeville; her sister, Jeannine Rowden of Cedar Hill; and her mother, Frances Thornton Reed of Rockport.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Valley AIDS Council, 220 Haine Dr., Harlingen, TX 78550.

Sauceda
Carmen Sauceda, 99, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002.
Rosary was recited Thursday evening at Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial followed in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2. Pallbearers were Albert Sauceda, Javier Sauceda, Willie Keller Jr., Chris Olivarez, Mark Cortez, Ryan Keller and Richard Salazar.
Mrs. Sauceda was born in Mineral Aug. 2, 1902, to Sostenes and Tiburcia (Fuentes) Rubio. She was married to Simon Sauceda Sr. on June 7, 1929, at Our Lady of Victory Church. She was a housewife and a Catholic.
Her husband preceded her in death on March 3, 1970. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her daughter, Petra (Willie G.) Keller of Beeville; two sons, Simon (Carolina) Sauceda Jr. and Bacilio (Lydia) Sauceda, both of Beeville; nine grandchildren, Patricia K. Cortez, Willie S. Keller Jr., Mary J. Keller, Javier Sauceda, Norma S. Rodriguez, Rose S. Rivas, Albert Sauceda and Martha and Sonia Sauceda; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Davis
David Bryan Davis, 36, died Saturday, May 18, 2002.
Visitation will be held this evening (Wednesday) from 5 to 9 o’clock at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday at Cadiz Baptist Church with Brother R.C. Jeanes officiating. Burial will follow on the Davis Ranch in Cadiz. Pallbearers are Roy Davis Jr., Bruce Davis, Michael McCollum, Roy Davis III, Robert Guerra, Damon Sales and Richard W. Dirks Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Bryan Tindol Davis and  Taylor Craig Davis.
Special music, “When We All Get To Heaven” and “Just A Closer Walk With Thee,” will be provided by pianist Betty Brooks and singer Donna Dirks.
Mr. Davis was born June 21, 1965, in Irving to Roy Kimble Davis Sr. and Mary Sue Turrentine Davis. He married Lori Marten on Oct. 18, 2001, in Las Vegas. He resided in Houston and was employed as an automotive consultant. He was a former member of Cadiz Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, drag races and spending time with his children and family.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Davis of Houston; one daughter, Christa McGregor of Longview; two sons, Bryan Tindol and  Taylor Craig Davis, both of Houston; two brothers, Roy Jr. and Bruce Davis, both of Houston; one sister, Christy McCollum of College Station; his parents, Roy and Mary Sue Davis of Pleasanton; his grandparents, Lois and O.W. Davis of Cadiz; an uncle, Orville W. Davis Jr.; an aunt, Donna Sue Dirks; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Epifanio “Jesse” Gonzales Jr., 55, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Visitation was held Saturday afternoon at Angelus Funeral Home chapel. Rosary was recited Sunday at 7 p.m. at the same location. Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday morning at 10 o’clock at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, with Father Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial followed in Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Rudy Amaya, Ruben C. Gonzales, Albert Garcia, Joe Botello, Joe Anthony Gonzales and Marty Botello. Honorary pallbearers were Arturo Arguijo, Riley Vega, Fred Cantu, Alex Treviño, Joe “Little Joe” Hernandez, Daniel “Big Dan” Gutierrez, Johnny Joe Gonzales, David Gonzales, Raul Garza Jr. and Roy Galvan.
Mr. Gonzales was born in Beeville on Nov. 28, 1946, to Epifanio “Jesse” Gonzales Sr. and Jesusa Cuellar Gonzales. He was employed with Beeville Independent School District and had also worked in automotive body repair and construction. He was a former singer of the Los Reales musical group. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church.
He was preceded in death by his father. His mother died May 20, 2002.
Survivors include his paternal grandmother, Guadalupe Moreno of Beeville; two daughters, Gracie (Joe) Botello and Clarissa Gonzales, all of Beeville; two sons, Joe Anthony Gonzales of Houston and Daniel Baltazar of Maryland; four sisters, Mary Helen (Roy) Galvan, Rosalinda Gonzales and Belinda G. Fuentes, all of Beeville, and Gracie (Ali) Borzoo of Virginia; three brothers, Johnny Joe Gonzales of Beeville and Ruben C. and David C. Gonzales, both of San Antonio; seven grandchildren, Marty and Matthew Botello, Ryan Gonzales, Alyssia Aranda, Nicholas and Amber Lopez and Christopher Sabiza; and numerous other relatives.

Jesusa C. Gonzales, 70, died Monday, May 20, 2002, in Corpus Christi.
Visitation was scheduled for today (Wednesday) at Angelus Funeral Home chapel from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Rosary will be recited tonight at 7 o’clock at that location. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial will follow in Beeville Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Bobby Moya Jr., John Gabriel Galvan, John Paul Garcia, Albert Garcia, Joe Anthony Gonzales and Guadalupe “Wally” Herrera Jr.
Mrs. Gonzales was born Nov. 21, 1931, in Beeville to Guillermo “Willie” Cuellar and Carmen Paiz Cuellar. She married Epifanio M. Gonzales Sr. on Dec. 26, 1946, in Beeville. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Victory Church.
Her husband preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Trinidad Gutierrez, and a son, Epifanio M. “Jesse” Gonzales Jr., on May 16, 2002.
She is survived by three sons, Johnny Joe Gonzales of Beeville and Ruben C. and David C. Gonzales, both of San Antonio; four daughters, Mary Helen (Roy) Galvan, Rosalinda Gonzales and Belinda G. Fuentes, all of Beeville, and Gracie (Ali) Borzoo of Virginia; three sisters, Santos Garcia, Teodora Guerrero and Janie Garza, all of Beeville; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

Shannon
William Robert “Bobby” Shannon, 61, of Three Rivers died Sunday, May 19, 2002, in George West. Visitation was held Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Galloway & Sons Chapel in Three Rivers. A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Piotr Gajda officiating. Pastor Don  Jones assisted with the eulogy. Burial followed in the Three Rivers Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Maurice Shenkir, Paul Koonce, Gary Crawford, Bill Gazaway, Ken Walpole and Sheldon Walpole.
Honorary pallbearers were his grandsons, Herman Smith, Payton and Shane Doherty, Ty Couk, Dustin Denkeler, Hesston Ruiz and Joe Bob Guerrero.
Kara Wood and Lisa Atkinson sang “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace.”
Mr. Shannon was born April 14, 1941, in Whitsett to John Richard and Ora Myrtle (West) Shannon. He was a U.S. veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He married Lois Wood on Dec. 21, 1959, in McMullen County. Mr. Shannon was a plant operator and former reserve deputy. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. His hobbies included gun collecting, fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Sonny Shannon.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Shannon of Three Rivers; three daughters, Sheryl (Clyde) Denkeler of Bishop, Sheila (Jimmy) Ruiz and Jo Ann (Jason) Couk, all of Three Rivers; a son, Willy (Kim) Shannon of George West; a sister, Jo An (Bill) Henry of Pleasanton; a sister-in-law, Marie Nelson of Yoakum; 13 grandchildren, Shanna (Shane) Doherty, Brandi and Dustin Denkeler, Hesston, Myranda, Macy and Hailey Ruiz, Maitlin and Ty Couk, Chelsea DuBose, Nickie and Rylie Shannon and Joe Bob Guerrero; one great-grandchild, Payton James Doherty; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Turner
Ruth Caroline Davis Turner, 87, died Sunday, May 19, 2002, in George West’s Live Oak Nursing Center after a lengthy illness.
Visitation was held Tuesday afternoon at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel in Beeville. Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Beeville with the Revs. Bruce Fisher, Ben Wright and Kelly Comkling officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Rob Schneider, Charles Sehlke, Byron Sehlke, Jeffrey Huehn, Joel Huehn and David Kapelle. Special music will be provided by organist Everett McAulay and violinist Dr. Eugene Dowdy.
Mrs. Turner was born to Dr. Charles H. and Susan Elizabeth (Brown) Reagan in Beeville on Sept. 28, 1914. Both her parents were descended from pioneer families of Live Oak and Bee counties. She graduated from Beeville High School in 1931 and attended Southwestern University.
She married Buford M. Davis on July 13, 1933, who preceded her in death on July 6, 1966. She married John Maurice Turner on Oct. 26, 1968. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Pryor, Charles Murray, Eugene, Tom Brown, John and Lewis Clay, and a sister, Sue May Reagan.
Mrs. Turner was a lifelong resident of Beeville and surrounding areas and was also a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Beeville. She opened Ruth Davis Dress Shop in August 1954 and operated it until her retirement in July 1976. She was also a member of the Wednesday Luncheon Club, Garden Club and Home Arts Club.
Mrs. Turner is survived by her six daughters, Gina Schneider and husband Bob and Marion Sehlke and husband Chuck, all of George West, Beverly Kapelle and husband Fred of Kerrville, Judi (Turner) Williamson and husband John of Austin and Patti Huehn and Jane (Turner) Wicker and husband Edward, all of Beeville; her brother, Dr. James L. Reagan and wife Gloria of Beeville; three sisters, Evelyn Seals, Nancy and Elizabeth Reagan; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or to the Acorn Scholarship Fund for Live Oak Nursing Center employees or to the charity of one’s choice.

Margarita Guerrero Almager, 85, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home chapel. Rosary will be recited that evening at 7 o’clock at the same location. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Patrick Donohoe officiating. Burial will follow in Cadiz Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe, Jimmy, Alex and Eduardo Martinez, Joe Omar Mendoza and Joe Leomar Mendoza. Honorary pallbearers will be Delmar Chavarria and Equiterio Alex Martinez.
Mrs. Almager was born on Feb. 22, 1917, in Oakville, to Juan and Valentina (Villarreal) Guerrero. She married Timoteo G. Almager on Sept. 2, 1935, in Beeville. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph’s.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter and nine brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Timoteo G. Almager of Beeville; three sons, Wilfredo G. Martinez and wife Lupe of Alvin, Equiterio G. Martinez and wife Imelda of Sinton, and Margarito G. Martinez and wife Nancy of Beeville; three daughters, Maria Anita Martinez and husband Rey of Aurora, Ill., Herlinda Almager and husband Andy of Corpus Christi, and Rosalinda Almager and husband Juan of Huntsville; a grandson, Delmar Chavarria; 28 other grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Coley Burell, 73, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Visitation was held Friday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in George West. Funeral services were held that day at 2 p.m. at the same location with the Rev. Bruce Irving officiating. Burial followed in George West Cemetery. Pallbearers were Leroy James Phillips, Larry Massey, Marcelino Loza, Matt Bogle and Bill Holland. Honorary pallbearer was Ike Houdmann.
Mr. Burell was born May 6, 1929, in George West to Albert H. and Anna (Mussman) Burell. He married Carolyn Massey on July 6, 1982, in New Braunfels. He resided in George West and was a ranch foreman. He attended the Church of Christ and First Baptist Church in George West. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and he loved to work.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Burell of George West; his daughter, Shirley (Robert) Gruver of Allen; two sons, Dale (Danette) Burell and Robert Burell, both of George West; a stepson, Leroy James (Kim) Phillips of New Braunfels; a stepdaughter, Melissa (Dave) Pelz of Dripping Springs; three brothers, Hubert Burell of Uvalde, Hugo (Cornelia) Burell of Gonzales, and Henry (Mary Jane) Burell of Marion; nine grandchildren, Anna Melissa Bogle-Melendez, Matthew Harris Bogle, Andrea Lynn, Robert Jr., Margarite, Bartholomew, Daralyn and Sarah Burell and Layne Phillips; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
