Pavelka
Lillie Kaase (Schumaker) Pavelka, 96, of George West died Friday, March 28, 2003. She was born Aug. 31, 1906, in Taiton to Charlie August and Minnie (Schoenfield) Schumaker. She was a homemaker and a Lutheran.
Mrs. Pavelka was preceded in death by her first husband, Monroe Kaase; her second husband, Joe Pavelka; her parents; three sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Sunday at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West with the Rev. Wilburn C. Ahlrich officiating. Special music included “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Burial was at the George West Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were her nephews.

Schneider
Ray (Hill) Schneider, 98, of George West died Friday, March 28, 2003. She was born Dec. 22, 1904, in Groesbeck to Joseph Robertson and Nora (Livingston) Hill. She married Robert Edward Schneider Jr. in Houston on Sept. 29, 1932.
Mrs. Schneider was a homemaker and a member of the Church of The Good Shepherd.
She was on the board of the George West Cemetery Association, Altar Guild Directors and a member of the Bishop Committee and the Unify to Beautify organization.
Survivors include a son, J.R. “Bob” (Gina) Schneider of George West; a daughter, Betty L. Smith of George West; two sisters, Elizabeth Phillips of George West and Dorothy Robinson of Galveston; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Schneider was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Edward Schneider Jr.; and a sister, Sue Metts.
The funeral was held Monday at the Church of The Good Shepherd in George West with Ben Wright officiating. Violinist was Eugene Dowdy. Burial followed in the George West Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Rob Schneider, Jeffrey Smith, Dwayne McWilliams, John Bednorz, Travis Martin and C.J. Sehlke.
Honorary pallbearers were Harry L. Linney, Holman Massey, Brooks Schley and Leonard Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Church of The Good Shepherd Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1582, George West,  Texas 78022.

Daniels
Josephine M. Sklar Daniels, 72, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 3 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services will take place Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the same location with the Rev. Gordon Talk officiating. Burial will follow in the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
Mrs. Daniels was born on Sept. 22, 1930, in MaComb County, Mich., to George and Emelia (Gmerek) Sklar. She married Gerald R. Daniels on April 16, 1949, in Battle Creek, Mich. She resided in Beeville and was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald R. Daniels; a son, David W. Daniels, both of Beeville; two daughters, Catherine J. Tramonte of La Place, La., and Mary Ann Hendricks of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Wesley M. and Jennifer Siegfried and Haley Written; two great-grandchildren, Tyler Written and Nicolas Siegfried; five brothers, George Sklar of Coldwater, Mich., Leonard Sklar of East Lansing, Mich., Steven Sklar of Clawson, Mich., John Sklar of Lansing, Mich., and David Sklar of Greenfield, Tenn.; and a sister, Mary Ann Westmoreland of Greenfield, Tenn.

Rodriguez
Dora Casanova Rodriguez, 89, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, in San Antonio’s Methodist Hospital.
Visitation was to be held Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Prayer service was to take place at 7 p.m. at the same location. Funeral services will be held today (Saturday) at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. E.G. Enriquez officiating. Burial will follow in Skidmore’s Evergreen Cemetery. Her sons will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Rodriguez was born in Skidmore on March 29, 1914, to Espridion and Maria (Luna) Casanova. She married Domingo Rodriguez in Skidmore in 1934. She had resided in San Antonio for the past five years and in Corpus Christi prior to that. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died April 18, 1949, her parents, and her sister, Nieves Ramirez.
Survivors include six sons, Domingo Rodriguez Jr. of Minnesota, Alfredo Rodriguez of Clarksville, Agosto Rodriguez of Cape Canaveral, Fla., Pablo Rodriguez of San Antonio, Abelardo Rodriguez of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mario Rodriguez of New Haven, Conn.; three daughters, Etelvina Luysterborghs and Esmeralda Gutierrez, both of Guilford, Conn., and Magdalena Gonzales of Corpus Christi; four sisters, Beatriz Segovia of Houston, Emma Escamilla of Robstown, Gomecinda Garza of Sinton and Lily Almendarez of Skidmore; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Salazar
Pedro G. Salazar, 67, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, in Victoria, after a bout with cancer.
Visitation will take place Sunday at 1 p.m. at Artero Memorial Chapels in Victoria. Memorial service will take place that evening at 8 o’clock at the same location. Funeral service will take place at the funeral home Monday at 10 a.m. with Marcos Acosta officiating. Burial will follow in Victoria’s Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Francisco Cardenas, Richard, Juan, Michael A., Pedro III and Victor G. Salazar. Honorary pallbearers will be Eloy, Lee, Roland, Carlos and Ben Salazar and Jesse Perez.
Mr. Salazar was born in Beeville on Feb. 15, 1936, to Pedro P. and Matilde (Garcia) Salazar. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and had been employed by Falcon Lease Service. He was a Jehovah’s Witness. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Baldemero Salazar and Benito G. Salazar.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Carmen D. Salazar of Victoria; a daughter, Martha Padron of Victoria; four sons, Richard L. Salazar of Fort Worth, Michael A. Salazar of Wichita, Kan., and Juan and Pedro Salazar III, both of Victoria; a sister, Senaida Brown of Beeville; two brothers, Cristobal and Victor G. Salazar, both of Beeville; and eight grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled through Artero Memorial Chapels, Victoria.

Everett
Virgie Oleta Everett, 82, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Spring Season Nursing Home in Beeville.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) at Angelus Funeral Home chapel from 6 to 9 p.m. Graveside services will take place Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Mineral Cemetery.
Mrs. Everett was born on Sept. 2, 1920, in Port Lavaca to Henry Edwin and Ruby Ada (Shafer) Fudge. She married Woodrow Irving Everett in Normanna on Feb. 29, 1940. She resided in the Orangedale community and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Woodrow “Mutt” Everett of Orangedale; a son, Chester Everett and wife Audrey of El Dorado, Ark.; a daughter, Vera Nell  Schmidt and husband Ray of Oak Harbor, Wash.; a sister, Claudia McClanahan of Phoenix, Ore.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Lillie Wilson Guerra, 91, died Monday, June 16, 2003, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Visitation was held Tuesday from 3 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home chapel. Rosary was recited that evening at the same location at 7 o’clock. Graveside services were held today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Mrs. Guerra was born on April 1, 1912, in Berclair to Julio Flores Wilson and Manuela Longoria Wilson. She resided in Beeville and was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Yolanda D. Roquet; a son, Alejandro “Calle” Ortiz; and two sisters, Estella Wilson Garcia and Olga Wilson Villarreal.
Survivors include her son, Juan Guerra Jr. of Beeville; a sister, Beatrice Wilson of Beeville; four grandsons, Gilbert, Stephen P. (Annabelle) and Jacob F. Roquet, all of Alice, and John A. Roquet of Vicksburg, Miss.; two granddaughters, Lisa Price of North Carolina and Lorrie Guerra of Beeville; three great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Ruth Kelly Hailey, 76, died Monday, June 16, 2003, in a San Antonio hospital.
Family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Eckols Funeral chapel in Kenedy. Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at the same location with the Rev. Ken Houston officiating. Burial will follow in the Kenedy Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Foster, Walter Long, Mitch Long, Jimmy Kelly, Rodney Rine, Blackstone Dilworth, Bob  Schmidt, Joe Mauch and Larry Mixon. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Moser, Hensley Hurt, Joe Davis, Robert Hollingsworth, Andy Golden, Bob Dietz, Thumper Carlos and Brian Denman Sr.
Mrs. Hailey was born on Jan. 12, 1927, in Gonzales to J.P. and Lela (Freeman) Kelly. She married Ira Hailey in Gonzales on Aug. 25, 1959. She was a graduate of Gonzales High School and Baylor University. She was a member of the Study Club, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Lenten Luncheon Club in Beeville. She played bridge in many clubs. She taught school for 33 years and operated Ken Kream restaurant in Kenedy for 40 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Ira Hailey of Kenedy; a daughter, Kelly (John) Foster of Kenedy; a nephew, Jimmy Kelly; a niece, Carolyn Groff; and a brother, J.P. (Sue Lue) Kelly Jr., all of Gonzales.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Karnes City or the South  Texas Children’s Home.

Jostes
Arlen Jostes, 73, died Saturday, June 14, 2003, at his residence in Tynan.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Dobie Funeral Home in Mathis, with the Rev. Wade Fuhrken officiating. Burial followed in Tynan’s Waldheim Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael Stridde, Ray Brown, Keith Laechelin, Edward Dale Polasek, Bobby Bauch and Stanley  Schmidt. Honorary pallbearers were Alton Winsauer, Jack Freitag, Jack Deer and Louis Krueger.
Mr. Jostes was born on Aug. 29, 1929, in Tynan, and resided there his whole life. He was a farmer and a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Tynan.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Margie Jostes of Tynan; a daughter, Gayle (Billy)  Schmidt of Richmond; two sons, Glenn (Susan) Jostes of Tynan and Gary (Linda) Jostes of Mathis; two brothers, Norman Jostes of Beeville and Lynwood Jostes of Sherman; and six grandchildren, Carlynn (Eric) Briley, Clay Jostes, Melissa Jostes, Kyle Jostes, Deidre (Kasey) Doggett and Casey  Schmidt.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Peace United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 124, Tynan, TX 78391.
