Soliz
Regina Garcia Soliz, 90, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Rosary was recited Sunday evening at 7:30 at Treviño Funeral Home in Beeville. Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Beeville, with Father Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers were Nino Martinez, Ernie Soliz, Lucas Aguilar, Ramon Soliz Jr., Carlos Soliz, Ramon Barrientes, Jessie Martinez, Noe Soliz Jr., David Ponce and Aucencio Ponce.
Mrs. Soliz was born in San Diego on April 9, 1913, to Ramon Garcia and Martina Peña. She was a lifelong resident of Beeville. She was a housewife and a member of Our Lady of Victory.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Santos Soliz, two daughters, Eloisa Barrientez and Audelia Ponce, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Rosa (Edward) Suniga of Beeville and Janie (Ron) Ortiz of Victoria; five sons, Servando (Ysidra) Soliz and Ernest Soliz, both of Beeville, Noe G. (Eva) Soliz of Big Springs, Ramon (Esperanza) Soliz of Three Rivers and Jose (Delia) Soliz of Corpus Christi; 58 grandchildren; 150 great-grandchildren; and 80 great-great-grandchildren.

 White
Brenda (Bednorz)  White, 47, of League City died Saturday, July 26, 2003, in Webster. Mrs.  White was born May 6, 1956, in San Antonio to Walter John and Eulalia “Lollie” Rose (Strzelczyk) Bednorz.
Mrs.  White graduated from George West Independent School District and received a bachelor of science degree at Sam Houston State University in 1978. She married Michael Gene  White in Huntsville on Oct. 22, 1978. She was a teacher at Clear Creek ISD since 1980 and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Gene  White of League City; her mother, Lollie Bednorz of George West; mother-in-law, Ann Patrolia of League City; grandmother, Clara Strzelczyk of St. Hedwig; a son, Steven Michael  White of League City; a sister, Connie (Danny) Dunn of Killeen; two brothers, Jimmy (Barbara) Bednorz of George West and Sam Bednorz of Del Rio; three brothers-in-law, Paul (Janet)  White and Jake  White, all of League City, and Scott (Danette)  White of Dukedom, Tenn.; nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Forrest Park East, Gulf Freeway, I-45, Houston. Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the same location. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 2 p.m. at St. George Catholic Church in George West with Father Joseph Olikkara officiating. Burial will follow at St. George Cemetery in George West.

Harris
Harold “Red” Harris, 80, died Saturday, July 19, 2003, in Three Rivers.
Visitation was held Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel in Beeville. Rosary was recited that evening at 7 o’clock at the same location. Graveside services took place Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Glenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Harris was born in Durant, Okla., on Feb. 8, 1923, to Henry Grady and Lillie Mae (Hester) Harris. He was retired from his position as Bee County health inspector. He resided in Three Rivers at the time of his death. He was a Catholic and an avid fisherman and hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Henry Grady Harris and James Michael Harris.
Survivors include his son, Hubert Harold Harris and wife Lillie; a sister, Alberta Kehoe, all of Beeville; four grandchildren, Grady Harris of Pawnee, John Harris of Beeville, Tonya Smith of Florida and Theresa Harris of Temple; and four great-grandchildren, Delanie, Beau, Hunter and Emma.

Serrano
Clemente Serrano, 74, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Hillside Nursing Home.
Visitation will take place Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. Prayer service will take place that evening at 7 o’clock at the same location. Funeral services will take place Friday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jesse De La Garza officiating. Burial will follow in Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Richard James Vaughn, Mark Anthony Vaughn, Edward Serrano, Kelly Hirlas, Eddie Hirlas and David Ray Morales.
Mr. Serrano was born on Nov. 28, 1928, to Jose and Victoria (Perez) Serrano. He was a laborer and resided in Beeville.
He was preceded in death by a son, Edward Serrano, a brother, Cosme Velasquez, and his parents.
Survivors include a son, Eden (Gloria) Serrano of Beeville; three daughters, Ella Serrano of Midland, Blanca Doris (Rogelio) Hirlas of Edinburg and Sylvia Ann (Manuel) Soliz of Skidmore; a sister, Maria Ybarra of Frost; a brother, Tiburcio (Petra) Serrano of Skidmore; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Pearl  Taylor Angermiller, 103, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003.
Visitation was held Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel, with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. Funeral services took place Friday at 4 p.m. at the same location with the Rev Vernon Helgren officiating.
Mrs. Angermiller was born on Amy 27, 1900, in Bee County to Alfred and Lucinda (Wolfe) Taylor. She married Charlie Angermiller on Dec. 16, 1919, in Beeville. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Her husband preceded her in death in March 1970.
Survivors include four daughters, Thelma Wolfe of Beeville, Margaret Ferguson of Palestine, Alma Skelton of Irving and Dora Fehlis of Kerrville; a son, Erving Angermiller of McKinney; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Merle Morgan of Pleasanton.

Barrera
Justin Matthew Barrera, 16 months, of Victoria died Monday, July 14, 2003, in Victoria. Justin was born March 20, 2002, in Beeville to Billy Joe and Janelle (Moya) Barrera. He was a Catholic.
Visitation was held Tuesday at the Galloway & Sons Chapel. A Rosary was recited that evening at 7 p.m. A graveside service was held Wednesday (today) at 11 a.m., with Father Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial followed in Moya Cemetery in Berclair.
Pallbearers were Santos Moya, Vicente Esquivel, Billy Jack Barrera and Steve Barrera.
Survivors include his parents, Billy Joe and Janelle Barrera; a brother, Billy Joe Barrera Jr.; a sister, Samantha Barrera, all of Victoria; his maternal grandmother, Velma Esquivel; his paternal grandparents, Rudolfo and Karen Barrera; and his maternal great-grandparents, Lydia Moya, all of Beeville; and the late Santos Moya.

Burchfield
Clint Mitchell Burchfield, 12, of Midway died Monday, July 14, 2003. Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Galloway & Sons Chapel. The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 10 o’clock at the chapel. Burial will follow at Beeville Memorial Park.
Clint was born Nov. 25, 1990, to Jeff Lawrence Burchfield and Linda Renee (Belcher) Burchfield in Beeville. He was a student at Madisonville Intermediate School in Midway and was a member of the Baptist church. He was a drummer in band, played baseball, basketball and looked forward to playing football. He enjoyed skateboarding, BMX bikes and four wheeling.
Survivors include his parents, Linda Burchfield of Midway and Jeff Burchfield and wife Shirley of Pawnee; two brothers, Justin and Trevor Burchfield of Midway; two step-brothers, Bobby Kinchloe and David Klaiber, both of Pawnee; a step-sister, Amanda Klaiber of Pawnee; his maternal grandparents, Frank and Kathryn Belcher of Beeville and Mary and Jack Walker of Midway; his paternal grandparents, Charley and Helen Burchfield of Sealy; his paternal great-grandmother, Mildred Torrey of Fairfax, Va.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Garza
Tomas A. Garza, 51, died Monday, July 14, 2003, at his residence in Beeville. Visitation was held Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. Rosary was recited that evening at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial followed at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jose Arredondo, Richard Garza, Abel Garcia, Mando Velasquez, Marcos Velasquez, Javier Velasquez and Benito Velasquez Jr.
Mr. Garza was born Nov. 20, 1951, in Beeville to Vicente and Petra (Arredondo) Garza. He was a retired backhoe operator for Merrell Services, having been employed there 16 years. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
Mr. Garza was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Maria Martinez.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Garza of Beeville; a sister, Paula Velasquez of Beeville; seven nephews, Benito (Sema) Velasquez Jr., Javier (Mary) Velasquez, Hector Velasquez, Mario (Michelle) Velasquez, Robert Velasquez, Jose Velasquez and Abel Joe Garcia, all of Beeville; four nieces, Diana Perez, Gracie Velasquez and Brenda Garcia of Beeville and Norma (Santos) Manzano of Orange; and several cousins, aunts and uncles.

Range
George Max Range, 59, of Copperas Cove died Thursday, July 10, 2003, after a long illness. He was cremated.
Mr. Range grew up in Beeville and attended public schools here. He was active in Boy Scouting and became an Eagle Scout. He was a musician heading a band in the 1960s known as Max and the Laughing Kind, which evolved into a group that was nationally known as The Thirteenth Floor Elevators. Max was also a printer for the Houston Chronicle for many years.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Range, and mother, Farrell Rigall.
Survivors include his sisters, Ann Oliphant and Martha Childress of Waco and Norma Straup of Escondido,  Calif.; and two children, Barry Rankin and Gemmi Brock.

Schaefer
Mary Christine Schaefer, 90, of Carrollton, formerly of Beeville, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, in Carrollton.
Visitation will be held Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Galloway & Sons Chapel. Dr. Thomas Huser will conduct a memorial service celebrating her life on Friday at 2 p.m. at the chapel. A gathering of friends and family after the service will be held at First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Schaefer was born in Beeville on Dec. 12, 1912, to Bess (Smith) McKinney Gillette and Homer Lee McKinney. She married Carl Julius Schaefer Sr. in Beeville on Aug. 26, 1939. Her ancestors were early settlers of Virginia and  Texas. She spent her early years in Beeville and attended Southwestern University in Georgetown. She moved to Sinton in 1945 where she raised her five children. She was a homemaker, a former schoolteacher and a member of the Methodist church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Carl Julius Schaefer Sr.; and a sister, Bessie Mae Marsden.
Survivors included her children, Joe (Susan) Schaefer of Doss, Gayle Schaefer Mitcham of Farmers Branch, Ginger Bess (Sam) Winkelmann of Houston, Jane Bryan (Dan) Noteware of Winnsboro and Quentin Bryan (Candy) Schaefer II of Katy; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two nephews, Allan Marsden and William Carter Marsden of Corpus Christi.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Tracy Ray Troup, Steven Joseph Schaefer, Daniel Alan Noteware Jr., Jeffery Scott Schaefer, Brett Roper Noteware, Casey Scott Schaefer, Thomas Alan Mitcham and David Lane Mitcham.

Serenil
Adolfo Rudy “Dee” Serenil, 57, of Karnes City died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, in San Antonio.
Visitation was held Friday beginning at 10 a.m. at Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated today (Saturday) at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City at 2 p.m., with Father Adrian Adamik officiating. Burial will follow in the Karnes City Latin Cemetery.
Mr. Serenil was born on June 25, 1946, in Karnes City to Ysidro and Guadalupe (Longoria) Serenil. He was a lifelong resident of Karnes City and a member of St. Cornelius. He worked as a gang pusher in the oil field.
He was preceded in death by his father and two sisters, Lupe Serenil and Aurora Cisneros.
Survivors include his wife, Lina Garcia Serenil; his mother, Guadalupe Longoria Serenil; two sons, Chris (Corina) Serenil and Bardo (Maria) Serenil, all of Karnes City; two daughters, Sharon Serenil of Karnes City and Terri Martinez of San Antonio; four brothers, Ysidro Serenil Jr. of Victoria, Mac Serenil of Houston, Tony Longoria of Michigan and Domingo Serenil of Karnes City; and seven grandchildren.
Arrangements were handled through Rhodes Funeral Home, Karnes City.
