Olivares
Lorenza C. Olivares, 88, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, in a Beeville care center following a long illness.
Mrs. Olivares was born in Pettus and had been a former resident of Tuleta. She had resided in Beeville for the past six years. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Jessie Casares and Arturo Gonzalez.
Survivors include her husband, Juan G. Olivares of Beeville; three sons, Daniel Casares, Jose Casares and Richard Gonzalez of Houston; two daughters, Virginia Strickland of Hitchcock and Delia Childs of Austin; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
A rosary was to be recited Friday evening at 7 o’clock at the Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home chapel in Sinton. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today (Saturday) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sinton with Father Peter Antony as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sinton’s Eternal Rest Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled through Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home, Inc.

Fuqua
Ada Belle Warner Fuqua, 87, died Aug. 8, 2004, in Kenedy.
She was born Sept. 22, 1916, to Sarah Alice Ryan and Gus Warner. She married Robert R. (Bobby) Burns in November 1934 in Runge and he preceded her in death on May 1, 1976. She married Otis Fuqua on Feb. 8, 1997.
She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Norma Jean (Don) Chamrad of Beeville and Barbara June (Lyle) Prouse of Stockbridge, Ga.; two sons, Robert R. Burns of San Antonio and John (Monica) Fuqua of Cuero; and nine grandchildren, Kim (Steve) Huddleston of Guy, Charles (Roxanne) Porter of Beeville, Lisa Kaye (Craig) Hardin of New Braunfels, Kara Marie (Russell) Wood of Three Rivers, Scott (Susan) Prouse of Covington, Ga., Jay (Jenny) Prouse of Fayetteville, Ga., Dawn Oliver of Tampa, Fla., James Fuqua of San Marcos and Kelly Fuqua of Houston.
She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Marie Warner Oetken of Runge; two sisters-in-law, Velma  Jones Warner of Seguin and Marjorie Burns of Kenedy; and several nieces, nephews and many loved ones.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ollie Warner Metz and Mary Warner Schweppe; five brothers, Owen, Gaston and Gary Warner and two infants.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kenedy and attended the First Baptist Church in Kenedy with her husband. She loved attending the Sunday services at the Blue Bonnet Manor.
The family received friends at Eckols Chapel in Kenedy on Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services were held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the same location with the Rev. Homer Hanna officiating. Kara Wood sang “In the Garden,” “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art.” She was accompanied by Lisa Atkinson and Roy Cox. Burial followed in the Kenedy Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Charles Porter, Morgan Porter, Jeff Huddleston, Travis Huddleston, Joshua Wood and James Fuqua.
Honorary pallbearers were the staff and nurses of Blue Bonnet Manor of Karnes City.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements were handled through Eckols Funeral Home Inc. in Kenedy.

Gregory
Russell Alvin Gregory, 79, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville following a short illness.
Mr. Gregory was born to John A. and Elbe (Ezzell) Gregory in Edna on April 4, 1925. In June 1943 he joined the U.S. Navy and participated in World War II as a fireman first class. He was honorably discharged in February 1946.
On March 31, 1952, Mr. Gregory married Barbara Louise Lippard in Beeville. He went to work for the San Patricio Electric Company, but in 1960 transferred to Hondo, where he was employed by the Medina County Electric Co-op. He retired from that company in 1988. Shortly after his retirement, he and his wife moved to Three Rivers.
His wife of 51 years preceded him in death after a battle with cancer on Sept. 19, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his son, Russell Clinton Gregory, who died in an auto accident on April 7, 1985; his parents, three sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include his daughter, Patsy (Lonnie) Wiemers of Hondo; three grandchildren, Colleen (Kevin) Zinsmeyer of Castroville, Farrah (James) Neuman of Hondo and Russell Gregory of Florida; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Neuman and Rainee Neuman of Hondo and Tristan Zinsmeyer of Castroville, and a fourth great-grandchild who is expected; two sisters, Alma Wright and Imo Gene Vaught; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless relatives and friends.
Visitation was to be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roberson Funeral Home in Three Rivers. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Three Rivers with Don  Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Three Rivers Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Church of Christ of Three Rivers or to the VFW in George West .
Arrangements were handled through Roberson Funeral Home, Three Rivers.

Hinojosa
Leonor (Nora) Rivas Hinojosa, 74, of Sinton died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004.
She was the daughter of Ferimin Rivas Sr. and Elvira Ramos Espinosa. She spent her early years in Beeville.
Survivors include her husband, Jacinto; four sons, Jacinto Hinojosa III of Harlingen, Juan Hinojosa of El Paso, Jesus Hinojosa of Pasadena and Tommy Hinojosa of Sinton; four daughters, Juanita Gilkes of Springdale, Ark., Josie Hinojosa and Julia Beltran of Corpus Christi and Antonia Breon of Ocala, Fla.; a brother, Tomas Rivas of El Paso; five sisters, Alejandra Moreno, Dalia Llamas, Rosa Hardman, Elvira Flores and Olga Galvan, all of Beeville; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Rosary was to be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated today (Saturday) at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Memorial Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled through Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home, Sinton.

Langston
Velma Lucille Langston, 81, of Beeville died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004.
She was born on Feb. 26, 1923, in Williamson County to George Russell and Martha E. Riley. Before moving to Beeville she was a resident of Rockport, where she attended Calvary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two sons, Gary (Irma) Langston of Beeville and James Langston of Rockport; her daughter, Jacquelyn Boatright of Rockport; her brother, Robert Riley of Brownwood; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be conducted at a later date.
Arrangements were handled through Charlie Marshall Funeral Homes and Crematory, Aransas Pass.

McKittrick
James Cecil McKittrick, 34, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004.
He was born in Refugio on March 25, 1970, to James Michael and Jane (Stevens) McKittrick. He was a carpenter and a resident of Normanna. He was a member of the Catholic church.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his mother, Jane Stevens McKittrick of Normanna; his grandmothers, Mary Jo McKittrick of Refugio and Maisa Bredthauer of San Antonio; two brothers, Michael Ray and John Patrick McKittrick, both of Victoria; and an aunt, Nancy Dierschke of Woodsboro.
Rosary was to be recited Friday at 7 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home chapel in Refugio. Funeral services will be held today (Saturday) at 1 p.m. at the same location. Interment will follow in Refugio’s Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ron Kruger, Dwight Marshall, Mark Tabola, Art Shanklin, Michael Ray McKittrick and John Patrick McKittrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan McKittrick and Michael Ray McKittrick Jr.
Arrangements were handled through Moore Funeral Home, Refugio.

Segura
Amelia Z. Segura, 57, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
She was born in Beeville on Feb. 13, 1947, to Lionicio and Manuela (Martinez) Zavala. She had been the receptionist at St. James Catholic Church for the last 10 years. She was a Catholic and a member of the St. James Cursillistas.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her daughters, Clara (Richard) Ponce of Victoria, Gloria (Mario) Ramirez and Rachel Botello, both of Beeville; two sons, Henry Segura of Goliad and Michael Segura of Beeville; three sisters, Maria (Jose) Enriquez and Consuelo Peña, both of Beeville, and Geneva (Dale) Martin of Temple; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Rosary was to be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated today (Saturday) at 10:30 a.m. at St. James with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers will be Richard Ponce Jr., Johnny Segovia, Andy Carrizales, Jamie Zavala, Henry Segura Jr., Joey Gomez, Bebe Armijo and Martin Galvan. Honorary pallbearers will be Blanca Paredez, Belia Garcia, Janie Maldonado and Dubelsa Vasquez.

Lopez
Roman G. Lopez (R.G.) died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004.
He was born on Aug. 10, 1934, in Alice to Roman and Sara Lopez.
Mr. Lopez was a private investigator with notable success in solving cases in the U.S. and other countries abroad.
Survivors include Ruth Lopez; three brothers, Roberto and Rafael (Bertha) of Alice and Raul (Diana) of Austin; two sisters, Audelia Garcia of Alice and Ofelia Lopez of Kingsville; the mother of his children, Rafaela Lopez, Roman III (Camilla), Rodolfo, Rogelio and Rolando of Austin, Ricardo (Grace) of Minnesota and Juan Ramon of Austin, a son, Roman P. Lopez (Rachel) of Bastrop; a daughter, Rene Martinez of Round Rock; 25 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Nice, and Reymundo Lopez.
Rosary was recited at Ruben Garcia and Sons Funeral Home in Alice at 7 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. on Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Alice. Interment followed at New Collins Cemetery in Alice.
Pallbearers were his brothers and sons. His grandsons served as honorary pallbearers.

Rogers
Rowena Rogers, 91, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, in Cuero Community Hospital.
She was born on May 22, 1913, in Leakey to William and Annie (Delaney) Reagan. She married John Rogers on July 26, 1941, in Kenedy. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1992. She was a housewife and a member of Choate Baptist Church. She graduated from Kenedy High School in 1930 and worked as a telegraph operator for Western Union prior to her marriage.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, J.D. Reagan Sr., Weldon Reagan, Cecil Reagan and John Curtis Reagan, and a sister, Gladys Davenport.
Survivors include her sons, Thomas D. (Bonnie) Rogers, Reagan (Dorothy) Rogers and Billy L. Rogers, all of Choate, and John R. (Margie) Rogers of Karnes City; three sisters, Gloma  Jones of Sabinal, Nell Gilleland of Knippa and Elizabeth  Johnson of Austin; two sisters-in-law, Edyce Conder of Lake  Jackson and Eula Parsons Reagan of Uvalde; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family received friends at Eckols Chapel in Kenedy on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the same location with the Rev. Jay Fleming officiating. Burial followed in Choate Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John R. Rogers Jr., Kirk Rogers, Bob Reagan, W.C. Reagan, Gary Jones, Bruce Gilleland, Cal Huffmaster and Eddie Huffmaster. Honorary pallbearers were Weldon Gilleland, Shane Grayson, David James, Pete Massey, Gale Ponish, Don Rogers, W.A. Rogers and Mike Salinas.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Choate Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
Arrangements were handled through Eckols Funeral Home, Kenedy.
