Baylor
Jack R. Baylor, 91, of Beeville died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004.
Mr. Baylor was born Nov. 4, 1912, to Francis Webster and Nancy (Roberts) Baylor in Beeville. Mr. Baylor was a member of the National Rifleman’s Association, the 36th Infantry Division, and the  Texas National Guard. He served in Battery B, 961st Field Artillery Battalion at the Battle of Normandy, for which he received a Fame Campaign Medal, four Bronze Stars, the American Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Baylor was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lillian (Fojtik) Baylor; one son, Dr. Bob Baylor of Bacliff; one daughter, Frances (Wayne) Baylor Shepherd of Beeville; four grandchildren, Brandon (Clarissa) Williford of Three Rivers, Amber Williford of Beeville, E.R. Baylor and E.R. Baylor III “Trey,” both of Houston; two step-grandchildren, Amanda Shepherd of Beeville and Morgan (John) Staudt of Pearsall; two great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; a brother in-law, R.A. (Dovie) Fojtik of Beeville; several nieces and nephews; and friends.
Visitation was held on Monday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Galloway and Sons Funeral Home in Beeville. The rosary was held that day at 7 p.m.
The funeral was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Patrick Donohoe officiating. Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael, Patrick, Joe David, Tim and Felix Fojtik and Rocky Gold. Charley Dorsey was honorary pallbearer.

Ellis
Ruth Martin Ellis, 75, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, in an Albuquerque, N.M., hospital.
A memorial service will be held in Gatesville at a later date.
Mrs. Ellis was born in Beeville on May 6, 1929, to Andrew Lee and Beatrice (Malone) Martin. She was married to John Ellis, who preceded her in death. She resided in Ruidoso, N.M., and was a former Beeville resident. She was a member of the senior citizens center and known as a good cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two children, Terry Kuykendall and Linda Paquin, and two brothers, Lee and Leslie Martin.
Survivors include her grandson, Shayne Paquin of New Mexico; her great-grandson, Sayne Paquin of New Mexico; two sisters, Ella Maxwell of Beeville and Jo Ann Stokes of New Mexico; two brothers, James W. Martin of Kingsville and David Martin of Florida; and numerous cousins.

Morales
Robert Morales, 44, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2004.
Visitation will be tonight (Wednesday) from 5 to 8 o’clock at Galloway and Sons chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the same location, with Danny Whatley officiating. Special music will include “Nearer My God to Thee.” Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Galle, Homer Curby, Jim Newman, Ronnie Dennings, Wyatt Saenz, David Hernandez and David Carlson.
Mr. Morales was born in Burlingame,  Calif., on Nov. 12, 1959, to Manuel and Lola (Reader) Morales. He resided in Beeville and was a long distance truck driver for many years.
Survivors include his mother, Lola Morales of Beeville; his father, Manuel Morales of Phoenix, Ariz.; four sisters, Lillian Stockdale of Sacramento,  Calif., Sharon Morales and Dolores Daynes, both of South San Francisco,  Calif., and Roberta Whatley of Albuquerque, N.M.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Polasek
John L. Polasek, 83, of Mathis died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, in a Corpus Christi hospital.
Mr. Polasek was born on Jan. 13, 1921, in Corn Hill. He was a resident of Mathis since 1960. He farmed and had worked as a park ranger for 22 years. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was also a member of KJT, VFW and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mathis.
Mr. Polasek was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances Polasek, and a sister, Genevieve Naizer.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Agnes Polasek of Mathis; a daughter, Irene (Harvey) Picha of Shiner; a son, Gilbert (Betty) Polasek of Tuleta; three sisters, Georgia and Mary Vanecek, both of Mathis, and Vlasta Kallus of Granger; a brother, Emil Polasek of Temple; and four grandchildren, Michael, Kelly, John and James Picha.
A rosary will be recited tonight (Wednesday) at 7 o’clock at Dobie Funeral Home chapel in Mathis. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart. Interment will follow in Cenizo Hill Cemetery in Mathis.
Arrangements were handled through Dobie Funeral Home, Mathis.

Rangel
Antonio “Tony” Rangel Jr., 18, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at his residence in George West.
Tony was born on Feb. 18, 1986, to Antonio and Virginia Rangel in Beeville. He was a 2004 graduate of George West High School, where he played football for the Longhorns. He was a freshman at Coastal Bend College in Beeville. He was employed by Lyssy and Eckel Feed Store in George West.
Survivors include his parents, Antonio and Virginia Rangel of George West; two sisters, Melissa Colunga and Esmie Rangel, both of George West; paternal grandparents, Roque and Victoria (Hernandez) Rangel of Mexico; maternal grandmother, Inocente Cuevas of George West; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation was held Friday, Sept. 24, at St. George Catholic Church and the rosary was recited at 7 o’clock that evening. Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at the St. George Catholic Church. Burial followed at the George West Cemetery.

Sanchez
Pablo Sanchez Sr., 91, of Beeville died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at Hillside Nursing Home.
Mr. Sanchez was born in George West on April 15, 1913. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Catholic church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paz and Paula (Silvas) Sanchez, and his wife, Concepcion Sanchez.
Survivors include his daughter, Rosie (Benny) Hernandez of Beeville; two sons, Benjamin Sanchez and Pablo (Mary) Sanchez Jr., both of Beeville; two sisters, Ramona Hernandez of Mathis and Juanita Salazar of Beeville; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be recited Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.

Alyssa Flores
Alyssa Flores age 1 month and 10 days was called upon Our Most Precious Lord on September 23, 2004. Where Beautiful Angels carried her into the arms of our Lord. Alyssa was born on August 13, 2004 in Corpus Christi,  Texas to Ryan and Jacqueline Rene Flores of Beeville,  Texas. She is survived by her loving and caring family Esther Echeverria, Jorge Echeverria, Kevin Flores, Rick & Cyndi Flores; Gerardo & Linda Flores; Carmen & Julian Flores, Frances Ortiz Rubio & Pete Rubio, Connie Flores, Victor Guerra , Angelica Flores, Valarie Flores, Joshua Flores and Maddox Flores and many other caring family members that she will carry in her heart forever. Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 24, 2004 with a Rosary to be held that evening at 7:00 p.m. Chapel Service will be held on Sat., Sept. 25, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial will follow at the Our Lady of Victory Cemetery # 2

Andrews
Ben Andrews, 72, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004.
Visitation will be held today (Saturday) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Galloway and Sons chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the same location with Vernon Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in Skidmore’s Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Andrews was born in Karnes County on May 5, 1932, to Fred and Emilie (Tiemann) Andrews. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a Baptist and a Skidmore resident. He was retired from Asarco as a brick layer.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Barbara West Andrews of Skidmore; his children, Randall Andrews of Aransas Pass, Cynthia Diane Miller of Craig,  Colo., Russell and Gary Andrews, both of Corpus Christi, Ben Andrews of Vienna, Va., and Daniel Andrews of Skidmore; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Institute for Cancer Research, 1759 R. Street Northwest,  Washington, D.C. 20009.

Brown
Christy Gail Spivey Brown, 47, died Thursday, Nov. , 2004.
Mrs. Brown was born on March 6, 1957, in  Oklahoma City, Okla., to William and Lorraine (Brown) Spivey. She was a longtime resident of Beeville and well known in the community. She was a member of Parkview Adult Daycare and Beeville Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lorraine Brown Spivey.
Survivors include her daughter, Misty Romo and son-in-law Mark Valadez of Beeville; a son, Buck Brown of Beeville; her ex-husband, Ken Brown of Papalote; her father, William Spivey of Perry, Fla.; four sisters, Peggy (Jimmy) Epperson and Judy Issacson, all of Cape Coral, Fla., and Lois (Robbie) Baker and Mary Ann (Joe) Traynor, all of Perry, Fla.; two brothers, David Spivey of Tallahassee, Fla., and William Spivey Jr. of Perry, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jessica Romo, Adrianna Romo and Gunner Valadez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Private services were held on Friday. Arrangements were handled through Cantu Funeral Home in Corpus Christi.

Garcia
Jose Romeo Garcia, 80, a longtime resident of Freer, died on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at his residence following a short illness.
He was born in Hebbronville to Alfonso and Matilde Garcia. Mr. Garcia was a World War II Navy veteran and a charter member of the Freer VFW post. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He retired from National Oilwell Supply in Pettus in 1983.
He was preceded in death by his two sons, Mario and David Garcia, and a sister, Evagelina Garza.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ofelia P. Garcia; his children, Thelma (Homero) Garza, Jose Romeo (Belinda) Garcia Jr., Rose Marie (Pete) Treviño, Gino (Nicki) Garcia, all of Freer, Larry G. (Rachael) Garcia of Alice, and Ana Louise (Robert) Carter of Gladewater; a sister, Eualia (Lester) Mountain of Florida; 27 grandchildren; 19-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Thursday from 3 to 9 p.m. at Garza Funeral Home in Freer. Rosary was recited that evening at 7 o’clock at the same location. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Freer with Father Luis Iglesias officiating. Burial followed at Hahl Memorial Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled through Garza Funeral Home, Freer.

Del Rosario
Carlos Garza Del Rosario, 39, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at his residence here.
He was born in Portsmith, Va., on Feb. 11, 1965, to Bayani and Eudelia (Garza) Del Rosario. He was employed as a cab driver. Mr. Del Rosario graduated from Sinton High School in 1983, participating in baseball, basketball and tennis. He also attended college in Atlanta, Ga., at the Music Business Institute. He was a member of the Catholic church and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Michele Timothy Del Rosario; his parents, Bayani and Eudelia Del Rosario; his daughter, Hyapatia Carrie Anna Del Rosario, all of Beeville; his sister, Linda Jean Blucher of Purvis, Miss.; and a brother, Ricardo Garza Del Rosario of San Antonio.
Rosary was recited Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Sinton. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the same location with Father David G. Taurasi officiating. Private burial followed.
