Balderas
David G. Balderas, 67, died Sunday, July 17, 2005, at his residence in Beeville.
Mr. Balderas was born on Sept. 7, 1937, to Pedro and Vicenta (Garza) Balderas. He was raised by his maternal grandparents, the late Valentin and Margarita Garza.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Anna Delia (Dolly) Saenz of San Antonio.
Mr. Balderas was a retired civil service employee at Chase Field.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Moreno Balderas of Beeville; two daughters, Nona (Sonny Rojas) Loya of Beeville and Valerie (Chris) Perez of Houston; two sons, David Pierre (Jacquelina) Balderas of Corpus Christi and Vincent Roy (Sondra) Balderas of Vandelia, Ill.; a brother, Pedro Balderas Jr. of  Texas City; his grandchildren, Marques, Janelle and Darlina Loya, Christopher, David, Joseph and Olivia Balderas; a sister-in-law, Julia (Ramiro) Garcia of Beeville; and a brother-in-law, Michael (Erlene) Moreno of Corpus Christi.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Burial followed in the Beeville Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Chris B. Perez, Augustin (Sonny) Rojas, Marquez Loya, Michael Moreno, Frank Cortez and Peter Balderas. Honorary pallbearers were Fernando Peña, Bobby Baltazar, Jimmy Baltazar, Julian Soliz, Michael Rojas, Gilbert Jasso, Ramiro Garcia, Romero Barrera, Manuel Farias, Jerry Garcia and Gilbert Gonzales.

Dunn
Ruth E. (Miller) Dunn, 81, of Belton died Friday, July 15, 2005. Visitation was held Monday at the Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. The funeral was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in George West, with Pastor Bruce Irving officiating. Joe Dunn and A.J. Viertel provided music.
Burial followed at Beeville Memorial Park. Pallbearers were James and Lonnie Stewart, Gary Gillett, Joe Dunn, Bill Litle and Stewart Brinkoeter.
Mrs. Dunn was born May 22, 1924, to Sylvester William and Callie Blanche (Williams) Miller in San Patricio County. She married Warren A. “Gus” Dunn on March 24, 1948, in Beeville. She was a member of First Baptist Church in George West and was a rancher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren A. “Gus” Dunn, on May 21, 1980.
Survivors include her daughter, Janie Dunn (Larry) Smith of Conroe; a son, Dr. Warren (Susie) Dunn of Belton; five grandchildren, Jason Smith, Janette McDonald, Jana Smith, Cheryl Ragan and Matt Dunn; two great-grandchildren, Jamie and Jaden; and two sisters, Rose Brinkoeter of Sinton and Susie Riesinger of Woodville.

Galloway
Harold E. Galloway, loving husband and father, joined our Lord in heaven on July 17, 2005.
Harold was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Elgin, Tx. to Francis Marlon and Pauline Bahn Galloway. He married Doris Knelp in Alice, Tx. on April 22, 1945. Harold was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Beeville and the Windmill Emmaus Community. Harold was involved in the photography profession for most of his life. He and Doris founded Galloway Photography in 1956.
He loved helping and talking to people. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and spending time at his ranch.
He is survived by Doris, his loving wife of 60 years, his son Richard and wife Becky and their children Amy and Allan. He is also survived by two sisters, Pauline Grote of Bella Vista, Ark., and Callie Mae Adix of Victoria, Tx. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends all over South  Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Marlon W. Galloway and Charles Galloway, and an infant son.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 21, from 5 to 9 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 22, at Faith Lutheran Church in Beeville with the Rev. Don  Taylor and the Rev. Laird Engle officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at the Three Rivers Cemetery.
Special music will be provided by Wynona Engle singing “How Great Thou Art,” and a quartet of Darrell Haug, Roylyn Kohutek, Cheryl Fimbel and Jean Lein singing “Amazing Grace.”
Pallbearers will be Allan Galloway, Gary Williams, Jim Miller, Kenneth Galloway, Willie Haug Jr. and Darrell Haug.
Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.

Gonzales
Edward Gonzales Sr., 91, of Corona,  Calif., died Monday, July 11, 2005.
A former Beeville resident, Mr. Gonzales was born on Oct. 13, 1913. He was a retired employee with Texaco refinery and a Merchant Marine during World War II. Mr. Gonzales was a member of the Catholic church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Hernandez Gonzales.
Survivors include his daughter, Margaret (Spiros) Kosmetatos of Crockett; a son, Edward (Edna C.) Gonzales Jr. of Moreno Valley,  Calif.; a sister, Margaret Perez; two nieces, Mary Louise and Dolores Perez; three nephews, Alfred, Arthur and Emile Perez, all of Port Arthur; two grandchildren, Monica De La Rosa and Ileana Gonzales of Katy and two great-grandsons, Gavin Gonzales and Alec De La Rosa.
Graveside services were held Sunday at 5 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Cemetery with Deacon Manuel Carranco officiating.

Parker
John William Parker, 70, died Saturday, July 16, 2005.
Visitation was held Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at the same location with the Rev. Lee Bevly Jr. officiating. Special music included “Peace in the Valley” and “Amazing Grace.” Burial followed at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Ernesto E. Ramirez, Harold Wagner, John Pond, Buddy Rowe, Tootie Wilburn and Billy Frost.
Mr. Parker was born on March 18, 1935, to Linwood D. and Edna Mae (Colson) Parker in New Hanover County, N.C. He was a longtime resident of Beeville and a member of the Baptist church. He was retired from the Operators Union #450 and was a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Parker enjoyed NASCAR racing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Shannon Victoria Parker.
Survivors include his ex-wife, Marilyn McCoy of Beeville; seven children, Tony and Kenny Parker and Susan Bennett, all of North Carolina, John W. Parker Jr. and Jason Parker, both of Georgia, Jennifer Frost of Alice and Christopher Capper of Corpus Christi; a brother, Albert Parker of North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rodriguez
Eva Juarez Rodriguez, 84, died Monday, July 18, 2005, in Corpus Christi’s Kindred Hospital.
She was born in Beeville on Jan. 14, 1921, to Antonio and Herlinda (Chapa) Juarez. She was a housewife and a Catholic.
Survivors include her special friend, Henry Moreno Sr. of Beeville; her son, Vicente “Tiny” (Estefana) Lopez III of Beeville; her sister, Esther Medina of Beeville; her brother, Antonio (Gloria) Juarez of Arroyo Grande,  Calif.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be recited tonight (Wednesday) at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be recited Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Father Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial will follow in Beeville Memorial Park.

Burris
Memorial services for Norwood H. Burris, 77, of Wharton will be held today (Saturday) at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Wharton.
Mr. Burris died Friday, July 8, 2005, at his Matagorda camp. He was born on Oct. 3, 1927, near Santa Anna,  Texas, the son of Dan Dotson and Ada Mason Burris. He was raised in Beeville and graduated from A.C.  Jones High School in 1944, having returned here for several class reunions. His family had a barbecue stand on the south end of town.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Barbara Oliver Burris; sons, Charlie Burris and Roy Burris of College Station; daughter, Deanna Feyen and husband Mike of Wharton; brothers, Douglas Burris, Robert Dan Burris and Vallon Burris; sister, Lucille Holmes; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 2626 S. Loop West, Suite 510, Houston, TX 77054.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.

Hertel
Otto Paul Hertel Jr., 80, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005, in Goliad.
A resident of Bee County, Mr. Hertel was a retired farmer.
He was born in  Washington County on Oct. 20, 1924, to Otto Paul Sr. and Lillie Hertel. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Goliad.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Joyce Elaine Hertel.
Survivors include his daughter, Craiet Hertel of Victoria; a son, Craig Hertel of Midland; a sister, Ellene Valenta of Berclair; and a brother, Milton Hertel of Angleton.
Visitation was held Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home in Goliad. Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at the same location with the Rev. Paul Zwarich officiating. Burial followed in Skidmore’s Evergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Troy Berthold, John Valenta, Howard Duge, Ernest Boemer, Michael Duge, Gary Duge and Kirk Yariger. Honorary pallbearers were Jason Hausmann, Kyle Duge, David Ball, Scott Yariger, Marvin Lee Hertel, Fred Dodd and Freddy Schauer.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Goliad.
Arrangements were handled through Colonial Funeral Home, Goliad.

Valdez
Dominga L. Valdez, 92, died Friday, July 8, 2005, in El Cajon,  Calif.
She was born in Oakville in September 1912 to Arnulfo and Maxima V. Leal.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vilcen Garcia Valdez, and her grandson, David Valdez Jr.
Mrs. Valdez and her husband owned and operated a successful family grocery store in Beeville for many years. After Mr. Valdez passed away in 1957, Mrs. Valdez operated the store for many years after. Mrs. Valdez moved to El Cajon,  Calif., in 1995 and remained there until her death.
She is survived by two daughters, Ramona (Jim) Towner of El Cajon,  Calif., and Maria Coriell of New Albany, Ind.; one son David (Virginia) Valdez of El Cajon,  Calif.; 10 grandchildren, Teresa I. Parvini of San Diego,  Calif., Elizabeth Patchett of Sparks, Nev., James Towner and Rene Valdez of El Cajon,  Calif., JoAnn Villegas and Mary Ann Peña of Victoria and Michael and Joe Henry Coriell, of New Alabany, Ind.; 24 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Antonia Arias of Houston and Celia Armendarez of Beeville; and two brothers, Jimmy Leal and Benito Leal.
Visitation will be held Friday at Treviño Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. with Father Luke officiating. Burial will follow in Clareville’s San Pedro Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Towner, Rene Valdez, John David Valdez, Nader Parvini, Joe Peña and Johnny Ray Valdez.

Alvarado
Maria Leonor Alvarado, 62, died at her residence in Beeville on Monday, July 11, 2005.
A rosary will be recited tonight (Wednesday) at 7 o’clock at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Luke officiating. Burial will follow in Clareville’s San Pedro Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Placido Garcia Jr., Pablo Garcia, Robert Garza, Joe Garza, Press Martinez and Ernest Garza Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Baggio, Oscar, Robert, Leonard and Jamie Garcia and Janie and Carmelita.
Mrs. Alvarado was born in Clareville on Feb. 2, 1943, to Paulino and Josefina (Saenz) Garcia. She was employed for 15 years as a cafeteria manager for Coastal Bend College. She was a Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Nicanora Garza, and her brothers, Oscar and Placido Garcia Sr.
Survivors include her husband, Andres B. Alvarado Sr.; her daughter, Blanca Alvarado; her son, Andres Alvarado Jr.; her brother, Abel (Refugia) Saenz of Beeville; her sister-in-law, Isabel Garcia; and her brother-in-law, Ernest Garza.
