Amador
Abel Amador, 85, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at 12:15 p.m. in a Beeville nursing home.
Mr. Amador was born Sept. 29, 1920, in Tynan to Manuela Moreno and Cornelio Amador. He married Mary Patina Amador. He was a self-employed bail bondsman for AA Bail Bonds Service for 30 years and worked for Treviño Funeral Home for eight years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. His decorations include the American Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Medal. He was a member of the Professional Bondsman Association, the Bee Community Action Agency board and hospital board. He was a Catholic.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Patina Amador; his parents; three brothers, Cornelio, Arnaldo and Daniel Amador; and five sisters, Dora Almendarez, Otilia Flores, Trine Cruz, Alicia Wharton and Leonarda Balbuena.
Survivors include one niece, Minnie McGee of Skidmore; one nephew, Chico Flores of Beeville; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Cornelio Amador of Skidmore; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Treviño Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Luke officiating. Burial will follow in the Beeville Memorial Park with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Lupe Valdez Jr., Felipe Rocha, Larry, Margarito and David Hernandez and Lee Roy Amador. Honorary pallbearers will be Mario I. Flores, Jose Herrera, Conrado Ramirez, Chico Flores, Daniel Amador and Nabo Lugo.

Amador
Andres Amador, 24, died on Friday, Nov. 25, 2005. He was born on Sept. 23, 1981, in Corpus Christi.
Survivors include his common-law wife, Christina Garcia; parents, Albert S. (Escolastica V.) Amador; daughter, Diana Josetta Amador; son, Andres Amador Jr.; brothers, Albert Amador Jr. and Adolfo Amador, all of Mathis; sisters, Jacky Del Bosque of Corpus Christi and Angie Amador of Mathis; maternal grandmother, Gloria Lopez Deleon and maternal step-grandfather, Jose Deleon; parents-in-law, Joe and Diana Flores and father-in-law, Jesus Garcia, all of Mathis; two nephews; four nieces; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Public visitation was scheduled from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Treviño Funeral Home-Mathis with a Holy Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed at Descanso Eterno Cemetery No. 2 in Mathis.

Arredondo
Elena D. Arredondo, 68, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, at her Beeville home.
She was born Feb. 18, 1937, to Victoria Benitez and Refugio Dominguez in the Clareville community. She married Margarito Arredondo of Beeville. She was a housewife.
Mrs. Arredondo was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband; daughters, Lillie (Javier) Sanchez, Norma (Martin) Esparza, Elia Keller, Mary Jane (Lesley Gay) Arredondo, all of Beeville, Sandra (Eduvije) Perez and Rachel (Abel) Carabajal, both of Berclair, and Guadalupe (George) Hiatt of Dallas; sons, Margarito, Joe Anthony and Jose Angel Arredondo, Steven and Erik Waddell, all of Beeville; sisters, Margarita Borrego and Miguela Puga, both of Beeville; brothers, Refugio, Ernest and Luciano Dominguez, all of Beeville, and Regelio Dominguez of Corpus Christi; 40 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Luke officiating. Burial followed in Evangelico Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gilbert and Margarito Keller, Javier Sanchez Jr., Eduvije Perez, Daniel Arredondo, Eric and Steven Waddell and Adrian Dominguez. Honorary pallbearers were John Robert Perez, Martha Esparza and Anthony Sandoval.

Dickenson
Frank Connally Dickenson, 70, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, in a Beeville nursing home.
Mr. Dickenson retired from the  Texas State Highway Department after 30 years of service as a drafting engineer. He graduated from Del Mar College. Mr. Dickenson was a deacon at First Baptist Church in Skidmore and Gateway Baptist Church in Corpus Christi.
Survivors include his sister, Patty (Johnny) Hill of Corpus Christi; one brother, Jim (Rita) Dickenson of Skidmore; a brother-in-law, W.T. Hartman of Victoria; five nieces and two nephews.
Visitation will be held at Treviño Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore with Brother Lee Bevly officiating.
Pallbearers will be Matt McWhorter, James Bennett, Jason Dickenson, Chris Koliba, John Cuevas and Gene Daniel.

Gomez
Eliza Duarte Gomez passed away on November 24, 2005 following a short illness. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. She was a housewife and mother. Mrs. Gomez was born and raised in Bee County. She was married to the late Antonio Gomez. Mrs. Gomez worked as a ranch cook for the Ray Welder Ranch for over 20 years. She was co-owner of the Gomez Arena and continued to run and operate Gomez Team Roping Area after her husband’s death.
She is preceded in death by her husband Antonio Gomez, her parents Marcelino and Paula Duarte, a brother Juan Reyna, and granddaughter Patricia Gomez Hughes.
She is survived by six sons and two daughters, Guadalupe Gomez and wife Lena, Daniel Gomez and wife Inez, Richard Gomez and wife Paula, Joe Gomez and wife Rosalinda, Mark Gomez and wife Annette all of Beeville, Bobby Gomez and wife Kathy of Magnolia, Emma Sayre and husband David of Normanna, TX., Mary Alice Garza and husband Cirildo, Jr. of Blanconia, TX. She also had 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, one sister Felipa Duarte, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Pallbearers are her grandsons; Jesus Antonio, Guadalupe, Jr., Richard Jr., Travis, Mark, Jr. all of Beeville, TX., Antonio Gomez of Kenedy, TX., Brian and Joshua Gomez of Magnolia, TX, and David Sayre of Normanna, TX.
Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters, Carolina Garcia, Maria Christina, Inez, Rosanna, Veronica, JoLisa Gomez, Janice Ramirez all of Beeville, TX, Rachel Ranger of Arlington, TX, Emily Sayre of Normanna, TX, and Rebecca Gomez of Magnolia, TX., and all of her great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 26, 2005 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM with a rosary recited at 7:30 PM at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 27, 2005 at 2:00 PM at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. Interment followed at Beeville Memorial Park.

Hause
Jeanne  Jones Hause, daughter of a pioneer South  Texas family, passed away on November 29, 2005.
She was born in Beeville to the late Gertrude Russell and A.C. Jones. As an avid painter, she filled her vibrant canvases with bold colors, energy and adventure as she filled the lives of those who adored her. She will be remembered for her flair and imaginative, creative mind which brightened the lives of those she knew.
She is survived by her devoted husband, H. Burt Hause; daughter, Daryl, wife of George Eldridge Tanner and children Benjamin and Kathleen; daughter, Sarah, wife of Sam Bell Steves II and children Sarah, Tres and Emily; and son F.A. Hause II and wife Diane and children Elisabeth, Andrew and Laura.
She was preceded in death by her son, Russell King Hause.
Visitation will be held from 9am - 9pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at Galloway Funeral Home where the family will be in attendance from 5pm - 6pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday, December 1, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church until the service begins at 2pm. Interment will follow services at Beeville Memorial Park.

Martinez
Adan Martinez Jr., 44, of Peggy, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005. A rosary was held at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at the Roberson Funeral Home Chapel in Three Rivers. A Mass of resurrection was held Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 10 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church in George West. Interment followed at the George West Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ray Martinez, Jose Martinez, Mario Moya, Robert Duke, Carlos Saldiva and Jonah Guerrero.
Mr. Martinez was born June 25, 1961, in Mathis to Adan and Petra (Gonzales) Martinez.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adan Martinez Sr. and Petra Martinez; a son, Joe Adam Martinez; and a brother, Simon Martinez.
Survivors include four daughters, Monica (Mario) Moya, Christine (Ashley) Flores and Sonia (Ira) Williams, all of Three Rivers, and Emily Marie Martinez of George West; five sons, Adan Martinez III, Steve Anthony (Salina) Martinez of Three Rivers, Aaron Martinez of Mabank, Alexander Martinez of George West and stepson Jim Bob Willer of Mabank; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Jose (Tracy) Martinez of Beeville; and six sisters, Eugenia Lazo, Anna Marie Martinez, Aurora (Francisco) Hernandez of George West, Margarita (Israel) Rodriguez of Mabank, Elida (Fidel) Alaniz of Christine and Guadalupe Martinez of Giddings.
Arrangements were under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Three Rivers.

Prewitt
Orion E. Prewitt, 93, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005.
Visitation was held Wednesday from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the graveside at Glenwood Cemetery. Funeral service was held Wednesday at 2 p.m., followed by burial there.
Mr. Prewitt was born Aug. 11, 1912, to Edna I. Ball and William Arthur Prewitt in Bee County. He married Grethel Prewitt in January 1960 in Beeville. He was a salesman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ruby Gregory Sehlke; his second wife, Grethel; a son, Roger O. Prewitt; three sisters, Lenora Kilgore, Catherine Cox, Gladys Cary; and one brother, Alvin Prewitt.
He is survived by five children, Patsy Kemper of Florida, Beverly Williams (Ray) of Victoria, Sandra Daltry (Leslie) of Victoria, Carroll Prewitt (Glenda) of Highlands and Dennis Prewitt of Dallas; one brother, Roy Lee Prewitt (Jean) of Beeville; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Smith
Leonard C. Smith, 101, passed away November 25 at his home in George West. Born February 5,1904, Mr. Smith was a lifelong farmer and rancher and was an integral participant in the Live Oak and Bee County communities. He was a founding member and former president of both the South  Texas Hereford Association and the Three Rivers Farmers Co-op, and he was instrumental in working with the Live Oak County Fair. He also helped organize the Live Oak Soil and Water Conservation District and the Live Oak County Farm Bureau, and he served for 40 years on the board of directors of a George West bank. Mr. Smith served for four years of active military duty in World War II and retired from the Army Reserve as a Major. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 65 years. In March 2005, he was recognized by the  Texas Agriculture Department’s  Texas Family Land Heritage Program for 100 years of continuous land ownership.
Mr. Smith was born on the family ranch between Beeville and Cadiz. After graduating from Beeville High School, he joined the  Texas National Guard and subsequently graduated from  Texas A&M College in 1928. He was proud to be hired by Lyndon B. Johnson, then secretary of U.S. Rep. Richard Kleberg, to work on a cotton census. While in charge of the CCC in Conroe, Mr. Smith met his future wife, Helen Ruth Bullock, who preceded him in death. Mr. Smith is survived by two sons, William and wife Marguerite and Charles and wife Sammie; seven grandchildren, John Hutchens and wife Lisa, Cathy and husband Johnny Andrews, Jennifer and husband Rodney Rather, Sandra and husband Wesley Hensley, Laurie and husband Tim Wieding, Sidney Smith and Ward Smith; seven great-grandchildren, Catherine, Julia, Allison, Ryan, Pacen, Holten and Nathan; cousin Marnie  Johnson of George West, TX and many other nieces and nephews.
Services were held Sunday, November 27, 2005 at 2:00 pm at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in George West. A graveside service was held at Glenwood Cemetery in Beeville. Pallbearers were John Hutchens, Sidney Smith, Ward Smith, Johnny Andrews, Wesley Hensley, Tim Wieding and Rodney Rather. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Dirks, Jim Owens and the members of the Mathis ROMEO (Retired Old Mens Eating Out) Club, Douglas Grant and all other close friends.
Leonard is preceded in death by his wife Helen B. Smith; parents, Sidney and Lucy Ray (Atkins) Smith; sisters, Martha E. Smith and Edith Stanley.

Orthmann
Beryl Orthmann, 81, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005.
A memorial service was to be held Friday at 4 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Don  Taylor officiating.
Mrs. Orthmann was born March 16, 1924, in Ogden, Utah, to Gladys Hanna Walkey and Frank Henry May. She was married to LaVern Orthmann on Oct. 21, 1951, in Oberlan, Kan. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and resided in Beeville. She was a certified nursing assistant and belonged to the Faith Lutheran Church Women and Quilters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVern Orthmann, her parents, Frank and Gladys May, and two brothers, Robert and Willis May.
She is survived by two daughters, Jan Marie Cappel and husband Charles of Holdrege, Neb., Cindy Rae Hilliard and husband Wesley of Beeville; grandchildren, April Marie Kendall and husband Michael, Tyler Ross Cappel, Justin Paul Hilliard and Mary Kate Hilliard; and a great-grandchild, Elijah Kendall.
Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Association and Faith Lutheran Church.
