Mr. Pena
Brijido Pena, 93, died on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006.
Visitation was held Monday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. A rosary was recited the same day and at the same location at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. George’s Catholic Church in George West with Father Joseph Olikkara officiating. Burial followed at George West Cemetery.
Mr. Pena was born in Oakville on Sept. 21, 1913 to the late Guillerma Reyes and Simon Pena. He later married Rosa Garcia in George West. Residing in George West, Mr. Pena was a Catholic and a carpenter who worked for Walter Lamn for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rosa Garcia, and his siblings.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Perez of George West; a sister, Maria Castillo of Corpus Christi; and a granddaughter, Carissa Perez of George West.

Mr. Salazar
Placido Cipriano Salazar Sr., 83, died on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, in Houston.
A prayer service was held Saturday at 7 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home. A funeral service was held on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the same location, with Pastor Aaron Guajardo officiating. Burial followed at Mineral Cemetery.
Mr. Salazar was born in Realitos on Oct. 10, 1922, to the late Panfila De Leon and Rosendo Salazar. He resided in Beeville and was a retired truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Delfina Rivera Salazar, on Dec. 2, 2002.
Survivors include daughters, Silvia (Arge Miro) Garcia of Livingston, Daria Nina (Harold) Denton of Ponchatoula, La., and Josie (Raul) Mateos of Houston; sons, Placido Cipriano (Guadalupe Salazar) of Houston, and Gilbert Sergio (Janie) Salazar of Beeville; sisters, Gloria (Rudolfo) Medellin of Calallen and Alvesa Inmon of Beeville; 16 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Aguilar
Mrs. Senaida Aguilar, 82, died on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, in a Beeville nursing home. She was a Beeville resident, a housewife and a Catholic.
Mrs. Aguilar was born in Concepcion on July 5, 1923, to the late Elena Cavazos and Pedro Rodriguez.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melisio Garcia; two brothers, Jose and Pedro Rodriguez; three sisters, Consuelo Molina, Trine Garcia and Fela Garza; and one grandson, Jimmy Rogers.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Elva Olytree of Shreveport, La., and Emma (Hector) Lujan of Arkansas; sons, Melisio (Delia) Garcia of Beeville, Richard (Rita) Garcia of Corpus Christi, Fidel (Delfina) Garcia of Houston and Robert Aguilar of  Louisiana; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
A rosary will be recited Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, with Father Eddie Garcia officiating. Special music will be provided by John Medina. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers will be Melisio Garcia III, Anthony, Randy, Chris and Sally Garcia, and Robbie Rogers.

Mr. Harms
David C. Harms, 69, died on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at his residence in Beeville.
A rosary will be recited today (Wednesday) at 7 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, with the Rev. Balaswamy Pasala officiating. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2 in Beeville.
Pallbearers will be Ben Contreras, Benjamin Contreras, Joe Anthony Harms, Alejandro Cantu, Roel Rosas and Joey Arrisola.
Mr. Harms was born in Beeville on April 22, 1936, to the late Leonor Cantu and Louis Harms. He was a Catholic and a retired mechanic and construction worker.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Harms Jr.; and a brother, Mike Harms.
Survivors include three brothers, Albert, Lloyd and Louis Harms Jr., all of Beeville; four nephews, Ralph, Michael, and Lloyd Harms, Jr., all of Beeville, and Joe Anthony Harms, Jr. of Pettus.

Jose Angel Quintanilla, 82, died on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. on the same day and at the same location. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home, with local elder Eliasar Guerrero officiating. Burial will follow at Beeville Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Gilberto, Arnulfo, Jimmie, Edward, Walter and Leonore Quintanilla and Eunice Villanueva.
Mr. Quintanilla was born in Waco on June 12, 1923, to the late Dolores Salas and Arnulfo Quintanilla. He married Maria Elva Gutierrez on March 12, 1953, in Brownsville. He was a Jehovah’s Witness, a retired carpenter and a Beeville resident.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Silverio Quintanilla; and one sister, Eva Balderas.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Elva Quintanilla of Beeville; six sons, Jose Angel Quintanilla Jr. of Missouri, Gilberto Quintanilla of Houston, Arnulfo Quintanilla of Houston, Jimmie Quintanilla of Harlingen, Edward Quintanilla of Corpus Christi and Walter Quintanilla of Beeville; three daughters, Lupita Aguilar of Brownsville, Leonore Quintanilla of Dallas and Eunice Villanueva of San Antonio; one sister, Eugenia Perez of San Antonio; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Rutledge
Billy Randall Rutledge, 74, died on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006. He was a Sandia resident. He was born on Nov. 3, 1931, in Waurika, Okla.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Rutledge of Sandia; one son, Bill R. Rutledge Jr. of San Antonio; two daughters, Roxi Lorance and husband Marvin of Athens, and Cathy Rutledge of Grand Prairie; a brother, Jerry Rutledge of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two sisters, Joan Ritchey of Lubbock and Betty Griffin of Irving; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were to be held Wednesday (today) at 11 a.m. at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy., Dallas.
Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sepeda
Hisabel (Chavelo) Sepeda, 71, died on Friday, Jan. 27, 2006.
Visitation was held Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Chapel. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the same location, with Pastor Tony Rodriguez officiating. Burial followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Active pallbearers were Martin Perez, Guadalupe Gonzales, Alfredo Gonzales, Israel Ochoa, Carlos Rivera and Carlos Sauceda. Honorary pallbearers were Epi Paz, Alfredo Chavarria, Steve Madden and all of Mr. Sepeda’s grandsons and great-grandsons.
Mr. Sepeda was born on April 18, 1934, to the late Herlinda Jasso and Antonio Sepeda in Bee County. He married Janie Baldillez on April 22, 2000, in Beeville. He resided here and was a heavy equipment operator.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wives, Pentecosta (Cuca) Sepeda and Ofelia Sepeda.
Survivors include his wife, Janie Sepeda of Beeville; four sons, Hisabel Sepeda Jr. of Houston, Luis Sepeda of Orlando, Fla., Paul Sepeda of Palestine and Joey Sepeda of Tomball; five daughters, Janie (Carlos) Sauceda of Corpus Christi, Linda Sepeda of Sinton, Ida (Carlos) Rivera of Waller, Rachal (Jesus Jr.) Zamora of Nell community and Jo Anna Baldillez of Beeville; two stepsons, Juan (Maria Elena) Galvan of Waxahachie and Adolfo (Nancy) Galvan of Fort Worth; three stepdaughters, Rosa (Audencio) Villasana of Sinton, Fidela (Hargis) Patrick of Kentucky and Angelita Rossett of Sinton; two brothers, Paul Sepeda of Beeville and Gino Sepeda of Elgin, Ill.; three sisters, Francisca (Epi) Paz of Sinton, Linda Garrett of Beeville and Estella (Martin) Perez of Beeville; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Smigielski
Frances C. Smigielski, 57, died on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006. She was a Beeville resident and a homemaker.
Visitation was held Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. Funeral services were held on Monday at 10 a.m. at the same location, with the Rev. Doug Burton officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Marie Bennett, Richard Arriola, Derek Springer, Scott Ross, Maurine Barganski and Laura Bryant.
Mrs. Smigielski was born in McAlester, Okla., on Sept. 25, 1948, to the late Billie Thornal and R.J. Standridge. She was married to Bob Smigielski on July 4, 1970, in Skidmore.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Smigielski of Beeville; one son, Robert Joseph (R.J.) of Morgan City, La.; two daughters, Robin Tylinda Springer of Mobile, Ala., and Carmen Lynn Ross of Guatanamo Bay, Cuba; and one sister, Patricia Ann Cole of New Smyrna, N.C.

Mr. Copeland
Joe Lando “J.L.” Copeland, 80, died on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006.
A funeral service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore, with the minister Jesse Berthold officiating. Burial will follow at the same location.
Active pallbearers will be George Baker, Kenneth Duge, Johnny Linney, H.D. Lamprecht, Melvin Matchler and Noble  Taylor II. Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Thomas Copeland, Tommy Hill, Dan Bohuslav and Barton Koonce.
Mr. Copeland was born in Hondo on June 10, 1925, to the late Bulah Shedd and R. Lando Copeland. He completed 12 years of school and served in the U.S. Navy. He married Ida Belle Hill on March 7, 1947, in Campbell. Mr. Copeland was a member of the First Baptist Church. He resided in the Skidmore-Tynan area as a farmer and rancher.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charlie and Bill Copeland.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Belle Hill Copeland of the Skidmore-Tynan area; two sons, Joe B. Copeland and Arlando Copeland, both of Skidmore-Tynan; two daughters, June Alice Copeland of Houston and Celia Kay Copeland of Skidmore-Tynan; three sisters, Bernice Beauchamp of Bishop, Gay  Taylor and husband Noble of Pearsall, Susie Bohuslav and husband Dan of Katy; one grandson, Ethan Thomas Copeland of Flour Bluff; and one granddaughter, Charlsie Nichols of Flour Bluff.

Mrs. Browning
Burnese Browning, 90, of Amarillo, died on Wednesday, April 19, 2006.
She was born in Alanreed to Jewel and Wilson Blakney on Oct. 23, 1915. She graduated from McLean High School in 1933. She married Erwin Browning on Sept. 15, 1934, in Alanreed and moved to Amarillo in 1949. She worked for the Potter County Clerk’s Office for 20 years before retiring in 1980. She was one of the founding members of the Golden Spread Emmaus Community, and a charter member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1968, and one sister, Wilsie Parker, in 1981.
She is survived by one son, Dr. Max Browning and wife Juanita of Plainview; two daughters, Janice Tversky and Joyce Keeter and husband Robert, both of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, Cheri Derrick of Plainview, Sheryl Duke of Beeville, Sharla Sowa of Colorado City, Kari Zbinden of Amarillo, Jill Keeter of Garland, Dr. Nicole Lopez and Jon Tversky of Amarillo; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Interment took place at 10 a.m. today (Saturday) at Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Bob Philley of Rolling Hills Cowboy Church officiating. Memorial services were held today (Saturday) at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church with Rev. Landrum Medlock of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church and Pastor Tommy Ewing of the 10th Avenue United Methodist Church officiating.
