Mr. McCollom
Gerald McCollom, 74, of Corpus Christi, died on Sunday, April 9, 2006.
He was born on May 12, 1931, to Sadie Mills and John Eugene McCollum in Beeville.
Mr. McCollom was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lucille Carpenter, and his brother, Charles McCollom.
Survivors are his sister, Mary W. Sacks of Poway,  Calif., and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Cemetery in Beeville, with the Rev. Bill Duke officiating.

Mr. Olivares
Lazaro P. Olivares, 67, of Beeville died on Saturday, April 8, 2006.
He was born on Aug. 22, 1938, in Skidmore to Raquel Perez and Rafael Olivares. On April 12, 1959, he married Mary Del Bosque in Beeville. He was retired from Olivares Plumbing, where he was the master plumber and owner. He also served as Little League coach for several years and was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Mr. Olivares was preceded in death by one sister, Eusebia O. Esparza, and two brothers, Jose P. Olivares and Tiburcio P. Olivares.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Del Bosque Olivares of Beeville; two daughters, Debbie Gamez and husband Art, and Dorothy Olivares; two sons, Dr. Lazaro Olivares Jr., D.C., and Danny Olivares and wife Belinda, all of Beeville; seven grandchildren, Artie Gamez, Albert Gamez, Danielle Gamez, Jared Trevino, Teresa Trevino, Jacob Olivares and Brianna Olivares; four sisters, Marcela O. Flores, Elia O. Alvarado, Yolanda O. Silva, all of Beeville, and Anita O. Castillo of Lubbock; and four brothers, Margarito P. Olivares of Gretna, La., Paul P. Olivares of Beeville, Fermin P. Olivares and Manuel P. Olivares, both of Skidmore.
Visitation was held on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Patrick Donohoe officiating. Interment followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers were Artie Gamez, Albert Gamez, Rudy Garza, Hector Garcia Jr., Tony Garcia, Tony Rodriguez, Manuel Ramon Jr. and Joel Del Bosque. Honorary pallbearers were David Perez, David Elizalde, Charlie Ramirez, Tomas Arismendez, Santos Del Bosque, Severo Valdez Jr., Abel Suniga, Jerry Coffeen, Blackie Adamez and all fellow plumbers.

Mrs. Tippins
Daisy (Barefield) Tippins, 83, of Beeville died Saturday, April 8, 2006.
She was born on May 5, 1922, to Mollie Georgia Henderson and Samuel Barefield in Beeville. She married Wilburt Tippins on Feb. 14, 1948, in Beeville. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Mrs. Tippins was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburt Tippins, on Sept. 30, 1982; and her daughter, Virginia “Ginger” Tippins, on Dec. 21, 2002.
She is survived by one son, Wilburt Tippins Jr. and wife Sarah of Bentonville, Ark.; one stepdaughter, Shirley  Jefferson of Beeville; six grandchildren, Jeremy Danaher, Jeannette Dirinezo, Jessica Tippins, Craig  Jefferson, Veronica Howard and Monica Parks; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Visitation was held on Monday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Eric Tarver officiating. Interment followed at St. Rose Cemetery.

Ms. Lindquist
Betty A. Lindquist, 41, of Berclair died on Tuesday, June 6, 2006, in a San Antonio hospital.
Ms. Lindquist was born on Aug. 7, 1964, in Karnes City to Ann Castro and Abel M. Carabajal. She was employed with the maintenance department in the County of Goliad. She was a graduate of Goliad High School and a Catholic.
She is survived by her parents, Abel M. and Ann Carabajal; one daughter, Regina Ann Coley; one son, Charlie Coley Jr.; one brother, Abel Caraba-jal Jr.; one niece, Christina Carabajal Salazar; and one great-niece, Akira Salazar, all of Berclair.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thurs-day at Treviño Funeral Home chapel with Deacon Luis Treviño officiating, and funeral services were held on Friday there at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Eddie Garcia officiating. Interment followed at Berclair Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Silverio and Cristian Flores, Joe Salazar, Janie Hernandez, Imelda Vasquez and Charley Coley Sr. Honorary pallbearers were Delores S. Arredondo and Sandra Perez.

Mr. Cantu
Lorenzo Everett “Lore” Cantu Jr., 69, died on Thursday, June 1, 2006, in a Victoria hospital.
Mr. Cantu was born on March 12, 1937, in Beeville. He graduated from A.C.  Jones High School in 1958. He was a retired diesel mechanic. Mr. Cantu enjoyed hunting, cooking and was a softball/baseball coach for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Hollan Cantu of Beeville; one daughter, Cindy Cantu of San Antonio; one son, Jimmy Lawrence “BoBo” (Elsa) Cantu of Houston; his mother, Josefa A. Cantu of Beeville; six sisters, Elida C. Garcia, Gloria (Robert) Aguilar and Yolanda (Santos) Garcia, all of Beeville, Josie (Ysidro) Rossett of Kenedy, Mary Alice (Lorenzo) Alvear of Houston and Rosa Linda (Johnny) Fernandez of Corpus Christi; two brothers, Ernest Everett (Mary) and Robert Lee (Nora) Cantu, both of Beeville; and two grandchildren, Marissa Marie and Jake Lorenzo Cantu, both of Houston.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday at Treviño Funeral Home, with Deacon Luis Anaya of the Christian Multi Ethnic Baptist Church and Elder Charles Hill of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Davis, Okla., participating. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Victory Church. A special reading was presented by Marissa Marie Cantu. Special Music was provided by Fernando Cisneros. Burial followed at Beeville Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Bobby and Douglas Aguilar, Gino, Dennis and John Aguirre and Gino Garcia.

Mr. Garcia
Benito Garcia, 79, of Pawnee, died on Saturday, May 27, 2006.
He was born on Jan. 31, 1927, in Karnes County to Carolina Vasquez and Manuel H. Garcia, Sr. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Pawnee.
Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his parents; and his second (step) mother, Eufemia Salas Garcia.
He is survived by five sisters, Cookie Campos of Pawnee, Tina Belyeu of Three Rivers, Nuemi V. Garcia of San Antonio, Frances Guerra of Karnes City and Maria Rodriguez of Mineral; four brothers, Domingo Garcia of Kenedy, Paul Garcia of Pawnee, Manuel Garcia Jr. of Beeville and Jesse Garcia of Lubbock; 38 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Eckols Chapel. Funeral services were held on Friday at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe with Rev. Peter Gadja officiating. Interment followed at De Nuestra Senora De Guadalupe Cemetery in Pawnee. Pallbearers were Stephen Belyeu, Paul  Johnson Jr., Andrew Treviño, Dion Villarreal, Clint Treviño and Thomas Turner.
Arrangements were by Eckols Funeral Home Inc., Kenedy.

Mrs. Garcia
Elida Martinez Garcia, 73, of George West, died on Tuesday, June 6, 2006.
She was born on July 30, 1932, in Three Rivers to Librada Deluna and Cesario Martinez. She married Juan Garcia in George West on April 25, 1955, and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. George Catholic Church.
Mrs. Garcia was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Seferina Gutierrez.
She is survived by her husband, Juan Garcia of George West; two sons, Reynaldo Garcia and Rosemary, and Raul “Pepe” Garcia and Rachel, all of George West; three daughters, Margarita “Margie” Chapa and Endercio Jr. and Delma Garcia, all of George West, and Belinda Garcia and Joe Garza of Leander; eight grandchildren, Rebecca Rae Garcia, Juan Gabriel Garcia, Adriane Rose Garcia, Claudia G. Chapa, Salina G. Chapa, Isabella Martina Chapa, Candace Nicole Gonzales and Joseph G. Gonzales; and two sisters, Emma Carter of Corpus Christi and Hilaria Ramon of George West.
Visitation is to be held today (Wednesday) from 2 to 6 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel in George West. Rosary will be recited tonight at 7:30 p.m. at St. George Catholic Church. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, with Father Joseph Olikkara officiating. Music will be provided by organist Barbara Bednorz and singer Cris Luna. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Julian Ramon, Joe Ramon, Abel Gutierrez, Chris Ybanez, Adolfo Moreno Jr. and Omar Salazar. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Gonzales and Gabriel Garcia.

Mr. Leal
Samuel Leal Jr., 35, of Beeville, died on Thursday, June 1, 2006.
He was born on April 1, 1971, in San Antonio.
He is survived by his grandmother, Juana Moreno of Sinton; his mother and stepfather, Rosa and Ysabel Martinez Jr., of Beeville; one step-sister, Penny Salazar of Beeville; one brother, Ysabel Martinez III, and one step-brother, Michael Martinez, both of Beeville.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Guardian Funeral Home chapel in Corpus Christi. Graveside services were to take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Eternal Rest Cemetery in Sinton.
Arrangements were by Guardian Funeral Home, Corpus Christi.

Mr. Villarreal
Ciriaco Villarreal Sr., 78, of Beeville, died on Saturday, June 3, 2006.
He was born on Dec. 31, 1927, in Live Oak County to Maria Hinojosa and Manuel Villarreal. He was a retired heavy machine operator.
Mr. Villarreal was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Consuelo Flores; one daughter, Oralia V. Camacho; and one grandson, Gilbert V. Flores.
He is survived by his wife, Amelia Lopez Villarreal of Beeville; five daughters, Dalia V. Sanchez of Aransas Pass, Natalia (Nicolas) Camacho, Elida (Adan) Martinez and Margie V. (Simon) Barrientez, all of Beeville, and Mary Ann (Peter) Posada of Woodsboro; three sons, Ciriaco (Nere) Villarreal Jr. of Mathis, Martin L. and Rick Edward Villarreal, both of Beeville; one sister, Esperanza Perez of George West; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Rosary was recited on Sunday at 7 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Rev. Patrick Donohoe officiating. Burial followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2. Pallbearers were Ciri Michael Villarreal, Nick Anthony Camacho, Michael Sanchez, David Camacho, Jimmy Padron and Jonathon Posada. An honorary pallbearer was Rick Edward Villarreal.

Mr. Airheart
A.P. “Bill” Airheart, 87, of Beeville, died on Wednesday, May 31, 2006.
He was born on Feb. 3, 1919, in Trinidad, to Irene Bell Wilson and Clarence Collins Airheart. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a Pearl Harbor survivor and a Korean War veteran. He married Irene Johns on Nov. 8, 1942, in Trinidad. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Beeville and was a retired clerk from Getty Oil Company.
Mr. Airheart is survived by his wife, Irene Airheart of Beeville; one son, Johnny Airheart of Houston; one granddaughter, Whitney Nicole Airheart, also of Houston; one brother, J.C. Airheart of Trinidad; and four sisters, Alice Gaston of Bryan, Frances Newson and Mildred Cartlidge, both of Trinidad, and Margaret Crawford of Payne Springs.
Visitation was to be held Friday from 8 a.m. to noon at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Traylor officiating. Interment will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Malakoff Cemetery in Malakoff.
