Mrs. Ball
Helen Cohoon Ball, 75, of Pettus died on Wednesday, June 14, 2006.
She was born on Dec. 13, 1930, in Elizabeth City, N.C., to Florence Sample and Walter Cohoon. She married Thomas Ball on June 17, 1957, in Sinton. Mrs. Ball was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Pettus and was talented in crocheting and woodworking. She was a retired secretary for Pettus Independent School District.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Cohoon, and husband, Thomas Ball.
She is survived by two sons, Tom Ball and wife Pam of Denver,  Colo., and Perry Ball and wife Tena of Austin; one daughter, Pam Harzynski and husband Matthew of Lancaster, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her mother, Florence Cohoon of Elizabeth City, N.C.; two brothers, George Cohoon of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Irving Cohoon of North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was to be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home, with services to be held today (Saturday) at 1 p.m. with Jesse Berthold officiating. Special music will be sung by Lynn Broadway. Burial is to follow at Beeville Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Johnny Gisler, Pat Bailey, Todd Dansbee, Joey Ball, Perry Ball Jr., Tom Gonzales and Gary Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Walker, Gerald Cubbage, Harmon Devall, Robert Fields and Bob Kibbs.

Mrs. Krause
Bette K. Krause, 77, of Beeville died on Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at her residence.
She was born on Feb. 4, 1929, in Mirando City to Loretta Moore and Alfred Kebodeaux. On May 21, 1953, she married Paul Morris Krause in Beeville. She was a member of the Baptist church, Red Hats Club and the cancer survivor group meeting at Christus Spohn Hospital. She was an administrative assistant and worked for Union Producing and Chase Field Civil Service (Fire Department).
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Morris Krause of Beeville; two daughters, Marilyn Keylich of Cuero and Paula Handy of Beeville; one granddaughter, Jennifer Handy of Beeville; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday from 5-9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services were to be held there at 2 p.m. on Friday with Rev. Greg Traylor officiating, followed by interment at Glenwood Cemetery. Organ music and vocals were provided by Emma Williams.
Pallbearers were Bruce Sugarek, Slo Watts, Wayne Young, Clem Young, A.G. Holt, Raul Salazar, Skippy Mathis and Mike Mathis. Honorary pallbearers were Edward Sugarek, Joe Berry and Dr. Ben Groner.

Mrs. Reed
Eleanor D’Angelo Reed, 81, of Beeville died on Wednesday, June 14, 2006.
She was born on Dec. 8, 1924, in Quincy, Mass., to Josephine Kuska and Guy D’Angelo. She married Morris Reed on May 23, 1948, in Quincy, Mass. Mrs. Reed was retired from NAS Chase Field where she was secretary to the commanding officer.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Morris Reed.
Mrs. Reed is survived by one daughter, Barbara Truxaw and husband Bill of San Antonio; a grandson, Bradley Truxaw, also of San Antonio; two sisters, Evelyn Bell of Massachusetts and Pauline Binns of Simi Valley,  Calif.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Mr. Suniga
Edward S. Suniga, 58, of Beeville died on Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
He was born in Beeville on Oct. 25, 1947, to Andrea Silvas and Eduardo Suniga Sr. He graduated from A.C.  Jones High School, was a Vietnam veteran and a member of the VFW. Mr. Suniga was employed as an auto parts salesman. He was Catholic. On May 12, 1998, he married Rosa Soliz in Beeville.
Mr. Suniga was preceded in death by his father, Eduardo Suniga, and one brother, Sam Sanchez.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa Soliz Suniga of Beeville; his mother, Andrea Silvas Suniga of Beeville; one daughter, Cassandra Suniga of California; two step-daughters, Samantha Esquivel of Corpus Christi and Amanda Gonzales of Beeville; one son, Joe Edward “Joey” (Alicia Saenz) Suniga of Beeville; one stepson, Johnny “Nino” (Laurie) Martinez of El Paso; two sisters, Linda Perez of San Antonio and Angie Garcia of Beeville; three brothers, Johnny Suniga of El Paso, Abelardo “Abel” Suniga of Beeville and Robert Suniga of Goliad; and four grandchildren.
Rosary was to be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass is to be held at 10:30 a.m. today (Saturday) at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Luke officiating. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2 with full military honors.
Pallbearers are Celso Garcia, Robert Suniga, Cody Zamora, Javier Suniga, Ruben Baltazar and Ramon Carrillo.

Mrs. Waterhouse
Mae Waterhouse, 77, of Beeville died on Wednesday, June 14, 2006, in Corpus Christi.
She was born on May 30, 1929, in Howland, Maine, to Bernice Whitney and Clifton Marsh. She married Richard Morris Waterhouse on Nov. 9, 1947, in Howland, Maine. She was a homemaker and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Andy Anderson Post 125 in Gulfport, Fla., for over 23 years. She was also a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary 39 to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in St. Petersburg, Fla. She was a retired pharmacist assistant.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her son-in-law, Colin Keith Martin.
She is survived by one son, Richard B. Waterhouse and wife Elizabeth Ann of Corpus Christi; one daughter, Marie M. Martin of Beeville; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Waterhouse and Edith LePelley, both of Ellsworth, Maine.
Visitation is to be held from 9 to 10 a.m. today at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. Chapel services are to be held at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Glenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Richard B. Waterhouse, Rick Waterhouse, Courtland Hill, Colin Martin, Leo Jacoel and Ron Cooper. Honorary pallbearers are James Harmon and Hank Engel.

Mrs. Garcia
Lillie Perez Garcia, 81, of Beeville, died on Sunday, June 11, 2006.
She was born on Aug. 10, 1924, in Beeville to Jacinta Vera and Atanacio Perez. On July 1, 1950, she married Ignacio P. Garcia in Beeville. She was a Catholic and was involved with the Shrine Church of St. Jude Votive Guild. She was also a Cursillista member.
Mrs. Perez is survived by her husband, Ignacio P. Garcia of Beeville; three daughters, Martha Cook of Bangor, Maine, Melba Schafer of Beeville and Margie Hermes of Pueblo West,  Colo.; two sons, Richard Garcia of Round Rock and Ignacio Garcia Jr. of George West; one brother, Pablo Perez of Beeville; four sisters, Lucia Cortez of Clute, Adelfa Alaniz of Corpus Christi, Alicia Rojas and Delia Rivas, both of Beeville; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home, with rosary recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Patrick Donohoe officiating. Burial followed at Beeville Memorial Park. Pallbearers were David Perez, Nathan Moody, Christopher Garcia, Steve Rojas, Marty Rivas and Lawrence Rivas.

Mrs. Martin
Madelyn Dean Fisher Martin, 88, of Jasper, Ark., died Saturday, June 10, 2006, at her residence.
She was born on Aug. 4, 1917, in Gainesville to Nora Welsh and Harve Fisher. In 1977, Mrs. Martin moved to Jasper, Ark., from Beeville. She became a member of the Jasper First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school. She enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Julius Martin; her son, Carl Lynn Martin; and her parents.
She is survived by one son, Richard Martin and wife Jane of Parthenon, Ark.; one daughter, Lucy Phillips and husband Patrick of San Benito; one sister, Leola Wilson of George West; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Christeson Funeral Home in Harrison, Ark. Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at Jasper First Baptist Church with ministers Manuel Macks and David Stratton officiating. Interment followed at Jasper Cemetery. Pallbearers were Phillip Martin, Randy Martin, V.J. Jones, Walter Phillips and Warren Martin. Honorary pallbearers were Sgt. Tommy Benitez, Brandon Williams, Bradley Bowen and Bo Cook.

Mr. Scotten
Frank K. Scotten, 90, of Beeville, died on Monday, June 12, 2006.
He was born on March 4, 1916, in Street, Md., to Henrietta Scarborough and Hugh J. Scotten. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. Mr. Scotten was a retired truck driver.
Mr. Scotten was preceded in death by his wives, Mildred L. Scotten and Betty J. Scotten; one son, Kenneth Frank Scotten; one daughter, Rachel Ann Scotten; and three brothers, Donald, Myron and Clifford Scotten.
He is survived by one son, Jim Scotten of Beeville; one sister, Corinne Rodermand of York, Pa.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at Lakeview Baptist Church in Swinney Switch with Rev. Ray Baugh officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Lakeview Baptist Church, P.O. Box 493, Mathis,  Texas 78368.

Mrs. Berkhimer
Donna Berry Berkhimer 39, of Berthoud CO. passed away on May 5, 2006. She was born August 3, 1966 in Corpus Christi,  Texas. Donna was raised in Adkins and Corpus Christi,  Texas and a graduate of Flour Bluff High School Class of 1984. She worked for Gulfway National Bank, Pagan Lewis Offices and Whataburger offices in Corpus Christi. Donna relocated to Colorado in 1999. She was employed at Horizon Organic Dairy in Colorado. July of 2002, Donna became a full time stay at home Mom with great pleasure. Donna is the beloved wife of Kenneth Berkhimer, beloved mother to daughter Sarah, son Matthew all of Berthoud, CO. She is the loved daughter of Dorothy Berggren of Corpus Christi, TX and John Berry and wife Ann of Longmont, CO.; she is survived by her brother, Mitchell Berry and wife Lee of Adkins, TX; sister Leanne Misner of Austin  Texas; brother Jason Redman and wife Misti of Holyoke, CO; sister Katina Lugo and husband Mario of Tucson AZ.; Uncle Billy Landers of Corpus Christi, TX.; Uncle Billy Berry of Sinton, TX; Aunt Patsy Griffin of Sinton, TX. Grandfather Dave Waishes of Skidmore, TX.,; Donna leaves behind many nieces and nephews. A memorial Fund for the children has been set up at St. Vrain Valley Credit Union, Donna Berkhimer Fund, 777 21st Avenue, Longmont, CO. Graveside service will be held at Evergreen cemetery in Skidmore, TX on July 1, 2006 at 10:30AM Donna loved ALL and was loved by ALL. She will live on within us forever.

Mr. Garcia
Gerald V. Garcia, 83, died on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, in a local hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born on Sept. 16, 1922, in Berclair to Paula Villarreal and Abelardo Garcia. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Garcia worked for Halls Department Store and J.C. Penney, and was retired from NAS Chase Field after 25 years.
Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gilbert Garcia; and one sister, Ofilia Salazar.
Survivors include his wife, Julia G. Garcia of Beeville; one daughter, Nelda G. (Ray) Govella of Beeville; one son, Gerald (Christine) Garcia Jr. of  Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Rudy Garcia and Abelardo (Mary) Garcia Jr.; three sisters, Adela Salazar, Lilly Garcia and Helen (Victor) Trujillo, all of Beeville; four grandchildren, Gerry and Wendy Garcia and Michael and Chris Govella; and six great-grandchildren, Marcus, Justin and Regine Govella, Samantha Perez, Alexis Byron and Joe McDonald.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Treviuneral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Burial with full military honors followed in Glenwood Cemetery.
