Hargis
Wilbert L. “Bill” Hargis Sr., 67, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, in Glen Rose.
A memorial service will be held today (Saturday) at 10:30 a.m. at Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose.
Mr. Hargis was born on Nov. 4, 1936, to Benjamin and Viola Vicars Hargis. He married Beverly Gray on June 27, 1975, in Fulshear. He served in the U.S. Army and in the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Hargis of Glen Rose; sons, William Hargis of King Bay, Ga., Daren Shea of Maumelle, Ark., and Wilbert Lee Hargis Jr. of West Monroe, La.; a daughter, Vicky Lee Hargis of Austin; two grandsons; five granddaughters; and his mother-in-law, Avis Gray
Memorials may be made to the Community Hospice of Cleburne or the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements were handled through Wiley Funeral Home, Glen Rose.

Harrington
Nan Puckhaber Harrington, born August 21, 1925, in Dallas,  Texas, died March 3, 2004. She graduated from Highland Park High School, attended Sweet Briar College, graduated from the University of  Texas at Austin, and was married to Marion Ray, MD, for 58 years until his death in October 2003.
She was known for her four loves; her love of her husband, her love of friends and family, her love of travel and her devotion to her faith. Her husband, family and friends were the center and the focus of her life. Her love of travel and her devotion to her faith resulted in an extensive créche collection from all over the world that she donated to the Dallas Arboretum in 2001. She was a member of various clubs including Women’s Medical Association, the Junior League of Dallas, the Founders Garden Club, the Dallas Women’s Club and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Claudia Puckhaber, and her husband, Marion Ray Harrington, MD.
She is survived by her daughter, Nan Katharine Harrington; foster son, Paul Harrington and grandchildren, Erik Kern Harrington, and spouse, Amy Oakes Harrington, Katharine Harrington Welder, and spouse, Raymond James Welder, III, Michael Ray Kern Harrington, and spouse, Anne Hall Shrader Harrington, Matthew Fredrick Kern, sister-in-law, Kay Harrington Gilbert, and spouse Mitch Gray Gilbert, and three great-grandchildren, Katharine Leigh Welder, Raymond James Welder, IV, and William Oaks Harrington.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2004 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3811 Oak Lawn Avenue, Dallas,  Texas. Father Jack Cawley will officiate.

Harrington
Marion Ray Harrington, M.D., died Oct. 6, 2003, in Dallas.
Dr. Harrington was born Sept. 20, 1924, in Dallas and graduated from Highland Park High School, the University of  Texas at Austin and the University of  Texas Main Branch Galveston Medical School. Following service in the Navy during the Korean War, he returned to Dallas and practiced ophthalmology until his retirement in 1989.
He and his wife, Nan, owned the Ray Ranch in north Bee County and he used to hold free eye clinics for people in the Pettus area.
He was a member of various medical societies and also enjoyed memberships in several clubs, including the Beeville Country Club.
He is survived by his wife, Nan; daughter, Nan Katharine Harrington; foster son, Paul Harrington; and grandchildren, Erik Kern Harrington and wife Amy Oakes Harrington, Katharine Harrington Welder and husband Raymond James Welder III, Michael Ray Kern Harrington and wife Anne Hall Shrader Harrington, Matthew Frederick Kern; and three great-grandchildren, Katharine Leigh Welder, Raymond James Welder IV and William Oakes Harrington; and a sister, Mary Katharine Harrington Gilbert and husband Mitch Gray Gilbert.
A memorial service was held Oct. 8 at the Church of the Incarnation in Dallas. Arrangements were handled by Sparkman Hillcrest funeral home in Dallas.

Johnson
Robert G. Johnson, 62, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003.
Visitation was held Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services were held Friday at 4 p.m. at the same location with Chaplain Tommy Ingle officiating. Mr.  Johnson was cremated.
He was born on June 12, 1941, to Robert and Phoebe (Eldot)  Johnson in New York City, N.Y. He served in the United States Marine Corps. On April 18, 1998, he married Henrietta Makowitch in New York. He resided in Beeville and was a correctional officer at the McConnell Unit. He was a Catholic and a former member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Henrietta  Johnson of Beeville; a son, Robert  Johnson of New York; a daughter, Karen Yaeger of New York; two stepsons, Michael Camacho of New York and Peter Camacho and wife Celina of Beeville; a stepdaughter, Karen Makowitch of Beeville; three grandchildren of New York; three step-grandchildren of Beeville; two brothers and two sisters, all of New York.

LeFevre
Geoffrey Zay LeFevre, 61, of Dinero, formerly of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today (Saturday) at the 14th & Main Church of Christ in Big Spring with Rick Cunningham, minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park in Big Spring.
Mr. LeFevre was a graduate of Big Spring High School and of George Pepperdine University in Malibu,  Calif. He earned all-state honors in basketball at Big Spring High School and is a member of the Big Spring Hall of Fame.
He had taught and coached all sports at the high school level for 39 years. He had just been inducted into the Coastal Bend Coaches Hall of Fame and had been nominated for the  Texas High School Coaches Hall of Fame for the successful years as a head coach in the area. In 1976, Mr. LeFevre led the Ben Bolt Palito-Blanco Badgers to the state finals in football. He also had four district titles while at Ben Bolt, from 1976 through 1979, and two district titles during his second stint from 2001-2003.
Mr. LeFevre had also coached at other schools in  Texas including: Eagle Pass, Crystal City, Premont, Vidor, Balmorhea, New Home, La Pryor,  Johnson City, Robert E. Lee in Houston, Bruni, Aransas Pass and Natalia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Creighton LeFevre, and two brothers, Wesley Leroy LeFevre and Richard Jay LeFevre.
He is survived by his wife, Olga, of 35 years; two sons, Richard LeFevre and Jeff LeFevre, both of Harlingen; his daughter, Jennifer Calderon of El Paso, his mother and stepfather, Zirah and Edwin Bednar of Big Spring; and three grandchildren, Loryn Renee Calderon, Chylee Shae and Richard Zay LeFevre.
The family was to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Arrangements were handled under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.

Longoria
Brenda Longoria, 35, died at her residence in Beeville on Tuesday, March 2, 2004.
Rosary was recited Thursday at Treviño Funeral Home chapel at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, with Father Richard Gonzales officiating. Burial followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers were Alfred Salinas, Isaias Reyes, Joe Rodriguez, Joe Martinez, David Olivarez and Robert Perez.
Mrs. Longoria was born in Beeville on Aug. 19, 1968, to Robert V. and Elodia S. Moreno. She was a housekeeper and a Catholic.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her children, Evette Longoria, Jesse Longoria III and Lonnie Longoria, all of Murrieta,  Calif., Pearl Ramos of Victoria and Angelita Martinez and Timothy Barcenas, both of Beeville; her mother, Elodia S. Moreno of Beeville; and two sisters, Marcy Rivas of Beeville and Celina Gonzales of Houston.

Suniga
Joe Mireles Suniga, 67, died suddenly on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at his home in Aransas Pass.
He was born in Live Oak County on Aug. 19, 1936, to Pablo and Maria Suniga.
Survivors include his life companion, Maria Suniga of Ingleside; his children, Joe (Romie) Suniga of Fort Worth, Fermin (Janie) Suniga of San Antonio, Tomas (Phyllis) Suniga, Fernando (Belinda) Suniga, Dianna (Anatacio) Medellin and Alicia (Ruben) Ramirez, all of Beeville, and Pablo (Margaret) Suniga of San Antonio; and their mother, Dalia Suniga Llamas; Ruben (JoAnn) Suniga of Victoria and Hector Suniga of Corpus Christi, and their mother, Olga Fuentes; and Gabriel Suniga of Ingleside; his stepson, Lupe (Debra Ann) Gonzales of Sinton; his stepdaughters, Blanca Davila of Ingleside, Ophelia (Rodney) Frances of St. Louis, Mo., and Norma Perales of San Antonio; his brother, Tomas Suniga of San Antonio; seven sisters, Maria Ardila, Benita Arredondo and Antonia Valverde, all of San Antonio, Alice Gomez of Poteet, Lupe Rodriguez of Somerset, Lucia Cantu of California and Emma Treviño of San Antonio; 32 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and 13 step-grandchildren.
Rosary was recited Sunday at 7 p.m. at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass. Mass was celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Ingleside. Interment followed at San Ignacio Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Charlie Marshall Funeral Homes and Crematory, Aransas Pass.

Zimmer
Joan Elizabeth Zimmer, 96, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004.
Visitation will be held today (Saturday) from 4:30 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons chapel, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Sunday at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, with Father Richard Gonzales officiating. Special music will include “The Lord’s Prayer” by organist Everett McAulay and singer Doug Burton. Burial will follow in Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Paul Zimmer Jr., Matt Zimmer Jr., Isaack Zimmer, Blaine Zimmer and Paul Zimmer Sr.
Miss Zimmer was born in Rhine on Oct. 22, 1907, to William and Anna (Paetzold). She was a member of St. Joseph’s and a retired telephone operator, with 30 years of employment. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Association and many church organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Sister Magdalen Zimmer and Gertrude (Trudy) Nylund; and her brothers, Henry and Joe Zimmer.
Survivors include three brothers, Philip Zimmer and wife Leila of Spring, Fred Zimmer and wife Claire of California and John Zimmer and wife Marjorie of Beeville; a sister, Sister Mary Ann Zimmer of Alton, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besancon
Quentin Joseph “Sam” Besancon, 85, died Friday, April 30, 2004.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons chapel. Rosary will be recited Sunday at 7 p.m. at the same location. Funeral Mass will be Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Zenon officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be A.E. McNabb, Donnie Morris, Arthur Romine, Jim Scotten, Ronald Hardy and Roger Perkins.
Mr. Besancon was born to Clare Malcuit and Clarence Besancon in Fredricksburg, Ohio, on Oct. 30, 1918. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He married Evelyn Hites in Wooster, Ohio, on April 20, 1942. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church since 1992 and resided in Beeville. He was a retired fireman, current member of the Beeville Volunteer Fire Department, father of the Fire Department, a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and a civil service fireman who retired as station chief at the NAS Chase Field Goliad Auxiliary base.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, a daughter, Beverly, and brothers, Justin and Joseph.
He is survived by four sons, Charles and Danette Besancon of San Antonio, Bob and Sally Besancon of Arlington, Gary and Kathy Besancon of Beeville and Allan and Theresa Besancon of Littleton,  Colo.; a son-in-law, Dave and Connie Senkowski of Orange Park, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Besancon of Apple Creek, Ohio, and Paul Besancon of Fredricksburg, Ohio; three sisters, Rita Palmer of Fredricksburg, Ohio, Bernie Gallagher of Wooster, Ohio, and Mary Herr of Herndon, Va.; a brother-in-law, Melvin (Bud) Hites of Dayton, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Shoup of Michigan; and many friends and relatives.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Beeville Fire Department.

Cuevas
Olivia L. Cuevas, 75, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004, in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
Visitation was held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons chapel in George West. A rosary was recited Thursday at 7 p.m. at the same location. Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church in George West with Father Joseph Olikkara officiating. Burial followed in George West Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Stevie Howell, Jack Lane, Allen, Jody and Bobby Cuevas and Gary Lane. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Carabajal, Eric and Jessie Cuevas, Ronnie Lane, Edward Cuevas Jr. and Arthur Medina Jr.
Mrs. Cuevas was born on Jan. 14, 1929, in George West to Joe and Juanita (Briseño) Lane. She married Esteban Cuevas in September 1950 in Beeville. She resided in George West, where she was a homemaker and a member of St. George.
Survivors include her husband, Esteban Cuevas of George West; eight daughters, Adela Lane of Beeville, Ninfa and Maria San Juanita Cuevas, both of Round Rock, Esmeralda Cuevas of Corpus Christi, Maria Rosario Medina and husband Arturo of El Campo, Sylvia Garcia and husband Mario of Houston, Ernestina Cuevas and husband James Gallagher and Elda Cuevas, all of George West; three sons, Robert Cuevas and wife Angie and Esteban Cuevas Jr., all of George West, and Ernest Ray Cuevas of Freeport; 28 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; a sister, Augustina Lane Gonzales of George West; and two brothers, Ernesto Lane of George West and Sam Lane of East Bernard.
