Mr. Alaniz
Francisco Alaniz Sr., 85, of Skidmore died on Monday, Sept. 18, 2006.
He was born on Aug. 25, 1921, in Atascosa County. He was a retired farmer and member of Primera Iglesia Bautista.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Tomasa Alaniz of Skidmore; six daughters, Maria (Ruben) Garza of Mathis, Juanita (Simon) Huerta and Modesta (Dan) Crichton, both of Skidmore, Lupe (Jose) Puentes of Corpus Christi, Melba (Todd) Henson of  Oklahoma City, Okla., and Rachel (Kriss) Showalter of Robinson, Ga.; five sons, Francisco (Tina) Alaniz Jr. and Jose Manuel (Elfa) Alaniz, both of Mathis, Juan Alaniz and Samuel (Angie) Alaniz of Skidmore, and Benjamin Alaniz of  Oklahoma City, Okla.; three sisters, Estemfena Alaniz and Maria Alaniz, both of Alice, and Agapita Alaniz of Orange Grove; six brothers, Antonio Alaniz and Bellian Alaniz, both of Orange Grove, Roberto Alaniz of Skidmore, Felipe L. Alaniz of Mathis, Safarino Alaniz of San Diego and Georgio Alaniz of Dallas; 49 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Prayer services will be held today (Wednesday) at 7 p.m. at Dobie Funeral Home Chapel in Mathis. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Primera Iglesia Bautista with Rev. David Silva officiating. Interment will follow at Descanso Eterno II Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank Alaniz III, Juan Coronado, Jose Manuel Alaniz Jr., Lee John Hernandez, Henry Huerta and Armando Mendez.
Arrangements were by Dobie Funeral Home in Mathis.

Mr. Monsebais
Juan G. Monsebais, 85, of Beeville died on Friday, Sept. 15, 2006.
He was born on March 14, 1921, in Goliad to Magdalena Saldana Monsebais and Juan Monsebais. He was retired from Suniland Furniture in Corpus Christi.
Survivors include his wife, Natalia P. Monsebais of Beeville; one son, Johnny Monsebais of Corpus Christi; three daughters, Magdalena Monsebais, Martha Mendez and Elva Monsebais, all of Beeville; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday at Evangelico Cemetery with Rev. Fernando Gonzales officiating.

Mrs. Roemer
Ernestine Anna Nitschmann Roemer, 97, of Mathis and formerly of Beeville, died on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006.
She was born on Jan. 5, 1909, in Oakland to Elizabeth Teltschik and Joseph Nitschmann. She married Dr. Gustav Roemer on Jan. 5, 1931, in Poth. She was a homemaker and member of Faith Lutheran Church. She was church choir director for junior and senior choirs and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband on April 4, 2000; her parents; four brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include three daughters, Mildred Platte of Kingsland, Bettie Jo Vassaur of Bishop, and Billie Lou Weber of Mathis; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Don  Taylor officiating and Rev. Richard Bremer assisting. Special music will be provided by Pat Coffee on organ. Ms. Coffee will sing “In the Garden,” “Whispering Hope” and “How Great Thou Art.” Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Floresville Cemetery in Floresville. Pallbearers will be Lt. Weldon Lee Weber, Craig Weber, Thorbjorn Aasland, Dr. Gary Vassaur, Derek Schulze, Randy Schulze, Leroy Nitschmann and Johnny Roemer.

Mr. Rojas
Onofre G. “Tofe” Rojas, 78, of Beeville died on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, in a Corpus Christi hospital.
He was born on March 12, 1928, in Beeville to Francisca Garcia and Daniel Rojas. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a former employee of Entex Gas Co. He was a Catholic.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Maria Sifuentes, Hermelina Ortega and Enriqueta Tijerina; six brothers, Blas, Augustine, Arturo, Frank, Erasmo, Joe and Benjamin Rojas.
Survivors include his wife, Alicia Perez Rojas of Beeville; two sons, Steve Rojas of Beeville and Jaime (Carmen) Rojas of Lake Jackson; one sister, Ermila R. Canales of San Antonio; one brother, Daniel Rojas Jr. of Beeville; and two grandchildren, Yash Zoan Rojas of Austin and Jacare Nalee Rojas of Lake Jackson.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Victory Church with Father Luke officiating. Special music was provided by Laly Cardenas and Fernando Cisneros. Interment followed at Beeville Memorial Park with full military honors. Pallbearers were Fernando, Marty and Lawrence Rivas, Dan Mesquita, Billy Myers and Billy Rojas.

Miss Tanguma
Elizabeth “Lizzie” Tanguma, 24, of Beeville died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
She was born on Sept. 6, 1982, to Paul and Natalie (Gonzalez) Tanguma in Beeville.
Elizabeth attended the Beeville Independent School District and was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include her parents, Paul and Natalie Tanguma; her maternal grandmother, Margarita Gonzalez of Taft; her paternal grandmother, Cecilia Reta of Corpus Christi; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at Treviño Funeral Home in Beeville.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at St. Joseph’s Church with Rev. Patrick Donohoe officiating. Special selections were sung by organist Katherine DiMaio. They included “Amazing Grace,” “Here I Am, Lord” and “On Eagle’s Wings.” Burial followed at St. Joseph Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Gonzalez, David Gonzalez, Rudy Gonzalez, Justin Jalomo, Chris Shapley and Rick Gonzalez.

Mr. Eisel
H.L. “Sarg” Eisel, 78, of Beeville, died on Friday, Oct. 20, 2006.
He was born on Jan. 3, 1928, in Collegeport (Matagorda County) to Constance (Hill) and Harry Lewis Eisel. He married Melba Laverne Williams on August 3, 1957, in Marshall. He was retired from the Army Corps of Engineers and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Melba Eisel on July 9, 1987.
He is survived by one daughter, Patsy Damon of Central Point, Ore.; one son, Kenneth Edward Eisel of Lithia Springs, Ga.; three grandchildren, Dawn Reynolds, Laurie Thompson, and Jonathan Eisel; and two great-grandchildren, Britney Thompson and Lydia Reynolds.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Bible Baptist Church with Rev. David Reese officiating and Rev. Carl Pickett assisting.

Mr. Lemley
Albert Bernard Lemley, 86, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, in a Live Oak County nursing home following a short illness.
Mr. Lemley was born March 19, 1920, in Rosebud to Albert Luther and Ada Jewell Lemley. He married Demah Walton on April 14,1943. He was a World War II veteran and retired oilfield worker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, J.T. Lemley; and a sister, Vivian Roeske.
Survivors include his wife, Demah Naomi Lemley of Oakville; a son, Bernard (Margie) Lemley of Beeville; two daughters, Peggy Skoruppa (Bill) of George West and Susan Morris of College Station; two sisters, Betty Lenard of Three Rivers, Mary Ann (Jack) Vaughn of Goldthwaite; six grandchildren, Bryan Skoruppa of Austin, Scott Skoruppa of The Colony, Alisha Scanlon of Waipahu, Hawaii, Aaron Lemley of Leander, Jennifer Morris of Troy, N.Y., and Matthew Morris of College Station; three great-grandchildren, Chantelle Rodriguez of Austin, Lauryn Skoruppa of The Colony and Nathan Lemley of Leander.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Oct. 24, in the Roberson Funeral Home Chapel in Three Rivers.
The funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 25 at the Oakville Baptist Church in Oakville. A graveside service followed in the Oakville Cemetery with military honors conducted by the United Veterans Burial Association.
Arrangements were under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Three Rivers.

Mr. Moreno
Arthur D. “Ate” Moreno, 84, of Beeville died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, in a Corpus Christi hospital. He was born Nov. 29, 1921, to Jose and Agnes (Douglas) Moreno in Beeville. He was a member of the Catholic church, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a retired truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria (Garza) Moreno of Beeville; a son, Gary (Cynthia) Moreno of San Antonio; a sister, Rachel Salazar of San Antonio; a half-brother, Joe Moreno of Houston; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Treviño Funeral Home. The funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
Burial with full military honors followed in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Pallbearers were Thomas Delgado, Arthur Moreno, Martin Sanchez, Gary Moreno, Eric Arrizola and Edward Bernal. Honorary pallbearers were Lucas Reyes, Raul Longoria and Felix Longoria.

Mrs. Doeppenschmidt
Mary C. Doeppenschmidt, 86, died on Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, in Corpus Christi,  Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; grandchildren, Kimberly and Dan Kasen; numerous relatives and friends.
She is survived by her children, Sharon (Jerry) Foster of Beeville, M’Dea Merriwether, Jan (Jay) Dooley, Bill (Becky) Doeppenschmidt and Keyloe (Diane) McKenzie; 13 grandchildren, including, Troy (Melissa) Hughes and Karyn (Kevin) Wesson, both of Beeville; 16 great-grandchildren, including, Aaron and Cullen Hughes and Dylan Merritt, all of Beeville.
Visitation will be held at Cage Mills Funeral Home in Corpus Christi,  Texas, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at All Saints Espiscopal Church in Corpus Christi. Burial will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
She was a blessing in our lives and will be dearly missed.
Arrangements were entrusted to Cage Mills Funeral Home in Corpus Christi.

Mrs. Hadley
Francine D. Reagan Hadley, 78, of Beeville, died on Friday, Sept. 21, 2007.
She was born on Jan. 22, 1929, in Karnes County, to Estella Rutherford and Adam Reagan. She married Delmar Samuel Hadley in Robstown in 1947. She was a Southwestern Bell telephone operator and a member of Beeville Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and her parents, Adam and Estella Reagan.
She is survived by six daughters, Pat Dotson of Beeville, Linda Pasch of Wisconsin, Brenda Boykin of Kemp, Ranney Brown of Katy, Karen Main of Sinton and Darla Dozier of Beeville; one son, Delmar Hadley of Blue Ridge; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Pete Reagan of George West; and one sister, Donna Baxter of San Antonio.
Visitation was held on Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services were held there at 10 a.m. Monday with Pastor Tim Stowe officiating. Interment followed at Glenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Iley
Anna Ruth Wallace Iley passed away on September 22, 2007, at her home in Beeville,  Texas.
She was born in Corpus Christi,  Texas on September 13, 1937, to Harold Wallace and Julius Ruth  Jones Wallace. She graduated from George West High School in 1955 and went on to college and graduated from SWT in 1959. She is formerly of Gonzales,  Texas where she retired from teaching. Anna spent the last years of her life living in a log cabin home on her ranch in Beeville. That ranch has been in her family since 1936.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruth  Jones Wallace and Harold H. Wallace of Swinney Switch,  Texas.
She is survived by her daughter, Candace Ruth Moore and grandchildren, Robert Pyssen, Tomas Moore and Samatha Moore, all of Beeville; another daughter, Darla Inez Howard and husband Kevin and grandchildren, Joseph Howard, Riley Howard and Allison Howard, all of Schertz,  Texas; a brother, Harold “Rip” Wallace and wife Donna of Swinney Switch; nephews, Trey and Brett Wallace; a niece, Becky Polasek; and very special friends, Bonnie Vernor of Gonzales and Mary Ann Kiser of Victoria.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 24, 2007, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West,  Texas. Graveside services will begin at 4 p.m. that same day in the George West Cemetery.
