Mrs. Reyes
Martha V. Reyes died on Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, after a long illness.
She graduated from A.C.  Jones High School and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from  Texas Woman’s University. She received many honors of recognition for her educational services to the children of  Texas. She was a retired teacher and counselor and taught school in Beeville, Midland, and El Paso, and in the San Antonio Independent School District, North East Independent School District and in Odessa, for more than 30 years.
She was preceded in by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Reyes, formerly of Beeville; four brothers, Alvino, Antonio, Carlos Jr. and Pedro; and two sisters, Otilia and Christine.
She is survived by four brothers, Lucas (Celia) Reyes, Bert Reyes, Mike (Elida) Reyes and Ruben (Myrna) Reyes; three sisters, Rachel (Ralph) Gonzales, Flo (Victor) Rodriguez and Estella Naranjo; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Beeville Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any Parkinson’s Disease organization. A guestbook is available for signing at www.porterloring.com.
Arrangements were entrusted to Porter Loring Mortuary North in San Antonio.

Alvarado
Baldemar J. Alvarado, 76, died on Saturday, March 22, 2008, in Corpus Christi.
He served as a pastor for over 30 years in the Bee County area and most recently as pastor of Iglesia Bautista La Esperanza (George West) and retired from civil service. He was born Jan. 31, 1932, to Luis and Perfecta Juarez Alvarado. He was a pitcher for the Beeville Blue Jays and served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Elia Olivares Alvarado of Beeville; a daughter, Belinda Ruth Reyes and husband Albert of Dallas; two sons, Rocky Alvarado and wife Michelle of Arlington and Robert Baldemar Alvarado of Beeville; six grandchildren, Joshua, David and Thomas Reyes, Jacob and Rachel Alvarado, and ShyAnne Alvarado; one brother, Ernesto Alvarado of Refugio; two sisters, Adelmira “Mieca” Jaramillo of Dallas and Maria Osbun of Lawton, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Raymond Alvarado, Baldomero Alvarado, Pedro Alvarado, Luis Alvarado Jr. and Jose “Chaco” Salazar.
A wake service will be held today (Wednesday) at 7 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery near Skidmore.
Pallbearers will be Jesus Toscano Jr., Ralph Olivares, Jesse Flores, Rudy Jaramillo, Kenneth Osbun, Ronnie Olivares, Oscar Alvarado and Lazaro Olivares Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Martinez, Angel Morin, Raymond Moreno, Jose E. Esparza Jr., Roy Chapa, Humberto Alvarado and Carlos Alvarado.

Anzaldua
Johnny “Piro” Anzaldua Jr., 48, of Beeville, died on Friday, March 21, 2008.
He was born on Sept. 6, 1959, in Beeville to John and Esther Zavala Anzaldua. He was a carpentry contractor and a Catholic.
He is survived by one daughter, Vanessa Anzaldua of College Station; his parents, John and Esther Anzaldua of Beeville; two sisters, Diana (Noel) Barrera of Beeville and Gina Holley of Corpus Christi; one brother, Rene Anzaldua of Beeville; three nieces and one nephew.
A memorial service was held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Angelus Funeral Home.

Lane
Steve Lane, 61, of George West, died on Thursday, March 20, 2008.
He was born in Live Oak County on Oct. 1, 1946, to Allie Umphres and Rufus E. Lane. He married Rita Lee in Three Rivers on Aug. 26, 1967. He was a retired teacher and rancher. He was a member of Oakville Baptist Church and of Baylor Letterman’s Association. He received his BA in 1969 and MA in 1970 from Baylor University where he played football and ran track.
He began his teaching and coaching career in Runge in 1970. In 1972 he and his family moved to George West where he was employed by GWISD as a Special Education teacher, coach, driver’s education instructor and bus driver. In 1994 he was employed by Three Rivers ISD as an alternative education instructor and later Life Skills unit teacher. Although he officially retired from teaching in 2002, he never really retired from the students. He loved children and continued to do what he loved as a volunteer and substitute teacher.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nelda Pawelek; and one brother, Rufus Lane.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Lane of George West; one daughter, Sherrie Smith of George West; one grandson, Stephen Anton Smith; one sister, Aletha Lane of San Antonio; four brothers, Charles (Pat) Lane and Jim (Mary) Lane, both of George West, Billy (Barbara) Lane of Alice and Daryl (Barbara) Lane of Sandia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Galloway & Sons Chapel in George West. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at George West Cemetery with Bro. Tommy Stogner of Oakville Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed.
Memorial contributions may be made to Oakville Baptist Church.

Luther
Jewell Jane (Johnson) Luther, 86, died on Friday, March 21, 2008, at home after a battle with lung disease.
She was born in Clyde,  Texas, on April 27, 1921, to Lee Marvin and Ollie Gertrude Johnson. She resided in Mathis for 60-plus years and was the secretary to the school superintendent for a number of years before retiring and enjoying the rest of her life traveling with her husband, Leonard.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Roy M.  Johnson and Robert E. Johnson.
She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, William “Leonard” Luther; daughter, Nellie Jane (John) Crumley; son, William “Bill” (Laura) Luther Jr.; grandson, William L. Luther III; granddaughter, Sarah Nicole Luther; sister, Theresa Dyer; and three brothers, Jesse (Laura) Johnson, J.E. (Mabel)  Johnson and Foy (Vondell) Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family visitation was held Sunday, March 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dobie Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at Dobie Funeral Home chapel on Monday, March 24 at 10 a.m. Interment followed at Cenizo Hill Cemetery in Mathis.

Martinez
Benito G. “PoPo” Martinez, age 86, died on March 21, 2008, at the family residence.
Mr. Martinez was born on July 11, 1921, in the Clareville community, to the late Pedro and Manuela G. Martinez. Mr. Martinez was a retired mechanic and was associated with Gerardo’s Restaurant in Beeville, and Santiago’s Restaurant in Mathis and in Corpus Christi.
He is survived by his wife, Estella J. Martinez of Beeville; sons, former Bee County Judge Jimmy “Santiago” (Dora) Martinez of Beeville, Joe Henry (Ortencia) Martinez of San Antonio, Hector (Rhonda) Martinez of Magnolia, and Jerry Martinez and his fiancée, Velma Cruz; daughter, Janie (James) McCartny of San Antonio; two sisters, Elena Zambrano of Beeville and Christella (Abran) Preza of Enid, Okla.; 22 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Burial followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.
Pallbearers were Jimmy “Jimbo” Martinez, Danny “BoBo” Higgenbottom Jr., Andrew Martinez, Hector Martinez Jr., Jason Martinez and Manny Martinez. Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Terry
Dave Edward Terry, 56, of Beeville, died on Friday, March 21, 2008.
He was born May 4, 1951, in Kingsville to Charles Edward and Crystal May Constantine Terry. He was a surveyor’s assistant.
He was preceded in death by his father, and one brother, Robert Charles Terry.
Survivors include his mother, Crystal M. Terry of Beeville; two brothers, Mark A. Terry and wife Linda of Orange Grove and Steven W. Terry of College Station; one sister, Sue Markos and husband Bob of Brenham; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Galloway & Sons Chapel. Funeral services were held there at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Greg Traylor officiating. Doug Burton provided organ music and vocals for “How Great Thou Art” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” Interment was held at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Kingsville at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Mr. Gonzales
Mr. Ruben Gonzales was called into the Arms of the Lord on July 17, 2008, at the age of 62.
Ruben was born on August 12, 1945, in Goliad,  Texas. Ruben was retired from the  Texas Department of Transportation after 21 years of service.
He is survived by his mother, Micaela Carrillo of Tuleta,  Texas; one son, Ruben Gonzales Jr. of Corpus Christi,  Texas; five daughters, Yolanda (John) Segura, Anna Gonzales, Christina (Steve) Lara and Priscilla Gonzales, all of Beeville,  Texas and Margaret (Juan) Constante of Tuleta,  Texas; two brothers, Sam Gonzales of Bishop,  Texas and Oscar Carrillo of Beeville,  Texas; one sister, Gloria Gonzales of San Antonio,  Texas; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 20, 2008. Rosary was recited on Sunday, July 20, 2008, at 8:00 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Service was held on Monday, July 21, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church and burial followed at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be member of  Texas Department of Transportation.

Mrs. Paradis
Myrna Tindol Paradis, 76, of Tucson, Ariz., and formerly of Bee County, died on Saturday, July 12, 2008.
She was born in Cadiz in Bee County on Jan. 22, 1932, to Dan and Anne Mae Tindol. She was a school teacher and a Christian.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her daughter, Pamela; two sons, Robert and Paul; five grandchildren, Briana, Noah, Hanna, Eli and Caleb; two brothers, D.J. and Ray Tindol; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Cadiz Baptist Church with Rev. R.C. Jeanes officiating. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery in  Washington, D.C.

Mrs. Vaughn
Eloisa Mae Gonzales Vaughn, 28, of Skidmore, died on Thursday, July 17, 2008.
She was born Nov. 7, 1979, in Beeville to Reynaldo G. and Ester M. Gonzales. She married Mark Anthony Vaughn in Beeville on March 11, 2006. She was a correctional officer for more than 10 years.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Anthony Vaughn of Skidmore; her parents, Reynaldo and Ester Gonzales of Skidmore; paternal grandparents, Pablo and Dora Gonzales of Skidmore; maternal grandparents, Rufino and Eloisa Menchaca of Skidmore; one stepson, Mark Anthony Vaughn Jr. of Beeville; one sister, Dora Lisa Garcia and husband Jaime of Sinton; two brothers, Reynaldo Gonzales Jr. of Ingleside and Roberto Gonzales of Skidmore; and numerous cousins.
Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Angelus Funeral Home chapel with a rosary recited there at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Patrick Donohoe officiating. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore.
Pallbearers were Jaime Garcia, Reynaldo Gonzales Jr., Roberto Gonzales, Robert Gonzales, Craig Penney and Joseph Lara. Honorary pallbearers were Officers Guerrero, DelBosque, Mata, Santos and Rochester, Lt. Garza and Jasmine Vaughn.
