Bergara
Mark Andrew Bergara II of Houston, infant son of Jason Scott and April Marie Bergara, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005.
Graveside services will take place today (Saturday) at 3 p.m. in the Pettus Cemetery with Deacon Luis Treviño officiating.
Mark was born in Houston on Jan. 9, 2005, to Jason Scott and April Marie Bergara.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Thomas Henry Hagadorn of Minnesota.
He is survived by his parents; a brother, Jason John Bergara; two sisters, River and Sidney Bergara, all of Houston; his maternal grandmother, Scarlett Harberts and husband Pete of Minnesota; his paternal grandmother, Patricia Salway and husband Edward of Santa Fe Springs,  Calif.; and his paternal grandfather, Juan A. Bergara of Houston.

Martinez
Ernest G. Martinez, 69, of Goliad died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005.
He was born in Goliad on June 26, 1935, to Paulino Sr. and Simona (Gomez) Martinez. He was a farmer and a rancher and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Rosary was recited Monday at 7 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home chapel in Goliad. Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception with Father Ralph Baidoo officiating. Burial followed in Riverdale’s San Jacinto Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Samuel, Paulino III, Albert Jr., Elias Jr., Rickey and Roger Martinez.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Albert G. Martinez Sr.
Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife, Sara M. Martinez of Goliad; his daughters, Mary Jane Gutierrez of Goliad, Rachael Martinez of Berclair and Sandra Capistran of Corpus Christi; his sons, Bill E. Martinez of Victoria and Jesse John and Ernest Jacob Martinez, both of Goliad; two sisters, Amelia Rodriguez and Amalia Bustamante, both of Goliad; three brothers, Paulino Martinez Jr. and Elias Martinez Sr., both of Goliad, and Margarito Vega of Grand Prairie; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Arrangements were handled through Colonial Funeral Home, Goliad.

Peter
Lynn Edward Peter, 69, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005.
Visitation was held Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home chapel, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Patrick Donohoe officiating. Burial followed in Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Mark Sugarek, Daniel and Jay Jones, Doug Martin, Chuck McCameron, John Peters and Dale and Allen Rothlisberger. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmie  Jones Jr., Jim and David Martin, Gene and Howard Peters, Pete Malek, J.E.  Jones and  Jones Lansford Jr.
Mr. Peter was born in Bee County on Aug. 24, 1935, to Edward and Matilda Faktor Peter. He was a graduate of A.C.  Jones High School and a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s. He was a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Peter.
Survivors include his mother, Matilda Peter of Beeville; two sisters, May A.  Jones and husband Jimmie of Swinney Switch and Patricia Kay Martin and husband Jim of Grafton, Vt.; three nephews, Jimmie Edward  Jones and wife Jeanene of Dinero, Doug Martin and wife Tanya of Hinsdale, N.H., and David Martin of Grafton, Vt.; two nieces, Kathy Martin of Grafton, Vt., and Nicole  Jones Lansford of Swinney Switch; three great-nephews; and three great-nieces.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Barrientes
Juan Antonio (Anthony) Barrientes, 15, of Beeville died on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006.
He was born to Joann Perez and Phillip Barrientes on May 29, 1991, in Beeville. He was a student.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Irma Olvera.
Survivors include his mother, Joann (Juan Alcorta) Perez of Beeville; his father, Phillip (Amelia Martinez) Barrientes of Beeville; one sister, Jeanette Perez of Beeville; one half-sister, Cecelia (Hector) Torres of Irving; one half-brother, Phillip Anthony Barrientes of Austin; three step-sisters, Laura Martinez of Victoria, Cristela Martinez and Olivia Gonzales, both of Beeville; two step-brothers, Peter Longoria and Freddy Aleman Jr., both of Beeville; one nephew, Angelo Barrera of Beeville; maternal grandparents, Juan Perez of Beeville and Maria Villalobos of El Campo; Paternal grandfather, Antonio Barrientes of Beeville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation was to be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Angelus Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held there at 10 a.m. today (Saturday). Interment will follow at Evangelico Cemetery.

Mrs. Garcia
Enedina G. Garcia, 79, of Beeville died on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville.
She was born on July 13, 1927, in Beeville to Maria Martinez and Ramon Garcia. She was a housewife and a Catholic.
Mrs. Garcia was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Ramon Garcia Jr., on Feb. 8, 2001.
Survivors include two daughters, Amelia (Antonio) Suarez of Conroe and Mary Elva Garcia of Beeville; three sons, Israel (Diana) Ponce and Ray (Mary) Garcia Sr., both of Beeville, and Raul Garcia of Bay City; three sisters, Mary Garcia of Houston, Elva Rodriguez of Beeville and Rachel (Daniel) Tannenbaum of Florida; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Treviño Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Eddie Garcia officiating. Interment followed at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.

Mrs. Pressley
Mrs. Margaret Lavina Hooper Pressley, age 88, died on Nov. 15, 2006 in a Corpus Christi Hospital.
Mrs. Pressley was born on Feb. 21, 1918 in Taylor,  Texas to the late John Hooper and Alberta Walker. Margaret graduated from Taft High School and was very active with the PTA, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. She enjoyed sewing, baking and crafting.
Survivors include two daughters, Catherine Ann (David) Wyble and Barbara Jo Noblett both of Swinney Switch, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph C. Pressley and one son, Johnny Calvin Pressley.
Visitation wi,ll be held from 6:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M. on Friday at the Treviño Funeral Home in Beeville. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. President Richard Ramirez will be presiding and Clint Brown will be conducting the services. Burial will follow in the Taft Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be David Wyble Jr., Jamey Wyble, Billy Noblett, Jason Noblett, Jimmy Noblett, Clint Brown, Rito Zertuche and J. Henry, Benjamin Noblett will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Mrs. Rule
Deana Jean Rule, 39, died on Friday, Oct. 20, 2006.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Rule; one son, Matthew Rule; her mother, Emma Mae Gerberg; five brothers, Tom, Park (GiGi), Terry, Jeremy and Kevin Gerberg; three sisters, Dorothea (Denny) Clisby, DaleAnn (Tim) Arnold, and Elisha Gerberg; as well as nieces, nephews and aunts.
Arrangements were by Woodforest Mortuary in Houston.

Mrs. Ryan
Helen M. Ryan, 79, of George West died on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline.
She was born on July 22, 1927, in Fort Bend County to Marie Pultar Dedek and Frank Dedek Sr. She was a registered nurse for Houston area hospitals for many years. On Sept. 15, 2001, she married Luther W. Ryan in George West. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in George West.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her first husband, Ralph Eugene Payne, on March 24, 1997.
Survivors include her husband, Luther Ryan of George West; one daughter, Lisa Foxworth of Willis; one step-daughter, Diane (Ernest) Moldenhauer of Boerne; one son, Kenneth (Anne) Payne of Baycliff; and seven grandchildren, Sadie Marie Payne, Kendel Marie Payne, Kenneth Eugene Payne, James Foxworth Jr., Tyler Callaway Foxworth, Matthew James Moldenhauer and William Wallace Moldenhauer.
Visitation was to be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Eckols chapel in Kenedy. Funeral services will be held today (Saturday) at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Kenedy with Rev. Doug Hinchcliff officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Kenedy Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Sonny Hockstedt, Phillip Castellanos, Roger Chapman, Ernest Moldenhauer, Rodney Nance and Buddy Orsak. Honorary pallbearers are Henry Dedek and Pat Nance.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church in George West.
Arrangements were by Eckols Funeral Home Inc. in Kenedy.

Mrs. Bernsen
Lydia Marie Bernsen, 96, of Beeville, died on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006.
She was born on Feb. 18, 1910, in Shiner, to Caroline Philip Nedbalek and Tom Nedbalek. She married George Bernsen in Violet on Nov. 7, 1934. After moving to Beeville in 1949 she joined St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was a member of the Altar Society, a bazaar donor and worker, cleaned the church, washed and mended altar boy vestments and sewed baptismal bibs. She donated many hours as a bingo worker at the local nursing homes. She was also chauffeur for choir, catechism, CYO and other school functions.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Bernsen, in 1997; one son, Calvin Bernsen, in 1998; and a caregiver, Lottie Sauceda, in 2006.
Survivors include four sons, Wayne Bernsen and wife Rita of Corsicana, Richard Bernsen and wife Carol of Bay City, Michael Bernsen and wife Renate of Victoria, and David Bernsen and wife Donna of Spring; one daughter, Kathleen Fish of Beeville; 14 grandchildren, Dr. Shay Fish of San Antonio, Dane Fish of Pearland, Terri Fish-McCoskey of Loveland, Ohio, Stacy Fish of Vancouver, Canada, Darryl Bernsen of Azle, Jeff Bernsen of Corpus Christi, Joel Bernsen of Dallas, Paula King of Brandon, Fla., Lorin Bernsen of Carrollton, Ron Bernsen of San Antonio, Denise Ashna of Colorado Springs,  Colo., Karen Haley of Coconut Creek, Fla., and Kim Bernsen and Kelly Bernsen, both of Spring; four great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Hazel Bland of Flour Bluff; and five caregivers.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Galloway and Sons Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited there at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Shay Fish, Dane Fish, Jeffery Bernsen, Darryl Bernsen, Ron Bernsen, Joel Bernsen and Lorin Bernsen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Capital Improvement Fund, Woodridge Nursing and Rehab Center, or a charity of choice.
